I really like your thoughts on utrh but wrt killing dealers, I don't really wanna defend winnick because had some very gross writing choices in utrh, but Jason wasn't really just trying to kill dealers? He was replacing them with his own (onyx meets some of his guys, even). Which is its whole own thing about why winnick thought robin jason would've wanted that but I don't think we're meant to read it as Jason wanting to kill street dealers for being dealers. Obviously there's the no dealing to kids part but I always assumed Winnick just didn't have any idea how to else communicate his idea that Jason still had his own internal reasons for this that weren't just power/revenge.

bc the people jason is doing away with, in part, are no different from his own father- I can see this as critique of later Jason stories but it isn't really present in UTRH. Jason tries to take over the trade he doesn't kill all the dealers. He recruits all of Black Masks crew and lets people do all sorts of crime from drugs to racketeering. He gives criminals protection and seems to use violence against those that refuse to join, sell to kids, or attack him.

these are two separate asks but i'm combining them bc they're striking at the same subject material, so i hope that's okay!

ig i should rectify some of my wording. to me the central issue with jason's ideology and methodology re: killing dealers (or whoever he pleases, really) is the fact that he actively renders people expendable with no forethought as to whether they are leading lives outside of what they do or don't do for him. his analysis of people begins and ends with their actions in front of him. they're vessels of the trade more than they are actual people, which is precisely what willis's death struck at. willis was nothing more than a cog in the machine to two-face. willis as a person, willis as a father, none of that mattered. it's the hypocrisy of jason allegedly caring for a community and its betterment while nonetheless emotionally detaching himself from anyone material within it that feels dissonant to me. he may replace the dealers with new ones, but ultimately, they are as expendable to jason dependent on their actions as anyone else would be. the whole of gotham is labeled inherently evil by him and that may be something we can attribute to his overall trauma-response and rage but i generally feel like it's a classist approach to take. esp for someone who grew up in a presumably rougher part of gotham but was nonetheless happy where he was, with his family, bc he recognized their worth as people who were trying their best

Realistically, what note do you think or hope the books will end in regard to Arya and Gendry? I don’t expect fanfic wish fulfillment but Grrm seems to have a soft spot for them so maybe a vague romantic suggestion that leaves their future open to interpretation? Which I realize is not much different to where we’re already at lol but I just can’t imagine how their relationship would develop.

when i consider what arya/gendry will look like in the end, or just the future in general, i think about whats already in the text. the elements of romance and even sexuality within their interactions are more than a lil suggestive. ie: the two of them rolling around together is not subtle lol. the phrase "between his legs" is used twice in that paragraph. grrm wrote an exclusive to a/g love song and had the singer wink as he sang it. he introduced not one, but 2 characters mostly just to fan the flames here. gendry explicitly threatens to have sex with a girl to try to make arya jealous and he visibly dislikes a perceived rival for her attention. ect! this isn't some obscure aspect of the story. its a legitimate side plot.

so i wouldn't even describe their existing canon interactions as "vague" therefore i don't assume their future ones, endgame included, would be left entirely up to interpretation either. are they going to get married on page? and consummate the union? no. but i do expect their future interactions to continue to be obviously romantic in nature. esp now that arya is older (and gendry seems to be younger)

with all that in mind here are my realistic thoughts:

when arya returns from braavos she will rekindle her friendship with gendry and realize she's attracted to him. gendry, having endured the loss of arya, will be willing to commit to her regardless of the issues that forced them apart previously. its all going to be pg-13 and tame by asoiaf standards but they will be crushing and it's not going to be a secret. not to the readers nor anyone who happens to witness the two of them together.

as i see it theres two potential outcomes: the class difference is still insurmountable and they remain apart or they end up together in some capacity. this will probably be a controversial claim, but a/g have less barriers to being together long term than any other ship imo. consistently, throughout their relationship, gendry being "too bloody lowborn" for arya is THE issue. its the source of all the conflict between them and its the thing keeping them apart. other than that? they clearly like and admire each other. arya trusts gendry, values his perspective, and confides in him things she tells no other character. she wanted him to come home with her, to be a part of her pack.

and i want to emphasis that arya values gendry's counsel specifically because thats one aspect of their dynamic that feels very relevant within the context of their potential as a grown up couple. they make a good team and work well together. they've already endured the bleakest possible scenarios by working together. gendry is presented as a really fitting partner for arya which i think is intentional tbh.

but ultimately, can the class difference be overcome? i think it can. and not only that but i think arya and gendry ending up together can be reflective of the changes we're going to see across the board with westeros' political system. they're not going to abolish the monarchy, but there will be major changes with how the kingdom is run.

the end i envision for them is fairly understated despite all my arguing that their relationship isnt all that subtle. arya asking gendry to come home with her to winterfell (again) would be enough, but thats not vague to me either. the meaning will be clear.

all that being said HEAs are not going to plentiful in asoiaf. grrm likes "we'll always have paris" type romances where two people meet and change each other, but go their separate ways. it could be that is what happens with arya and gendry. im realistic, if not bordering on pessimistic, so i want to embrace that possibility! but everything on paper is telling me they're supposed to end up together. not least of all bc in order for this romantic build up to actually come to full fruition they have to be grown which won't be until post series.

i try to keep my expectations low too but is it wish fulfillment to expect substantial pay off? idk.......grrm has been teasing love, sex and even marriage with arya and gendry for like the entire series actually. since that "arya has the hands of a blacksmith" comment in the first paragraph of her first chapter. he better do something!!!

The 'moving forward' ness of zukka in liab is so nicely written. Like ive been reading liab since (almost) the beginning and it has been a ride and its starting to feel more conclusive and that is SCARY but its also nice because you write it very well and i adore the way you write trauma and the healing of it and the ups and downs and the two steps forward two steps backness. Its very lovely.

I knew ara was going to have a suicide attempt (esque situation (idk if that counts)) i called it i win.

i feel like you can always tell the strengths of a writer in the way they write complicated characters and the way you write ara is very telling of that. Like the fragility and also harshness used for her is very realistic and i always enjoy her parts so much.

And thats a good example on your specific strengths as the author of liab (being able to handle delicate situations well, and realistically and make them very thought out and not rushed, stuff like that).

One thing I wonder a lot about wrt the Noldor is the learning curve. Cause there’s a bunch of things that they do that they realistically wouldn’t have done before. While elves in Valinor hunted and probably farmed to some capacity, I doubt that any have gone hungry, so there’s that adjustment to “we really have to get food or else we’ll starve and die”. They probably didn’t realize the effects no food would have on them (esp considering most if not all were at least one generation removed from the elves who first traveled to Valinor) The Noldor also started fighting battles, and they definitely didn’t have experience with military strategy (unless there were strategic games they played in valinor? But capture the flag won’t prepare you for war), which explains why the first few battles, iirc, were such a mess.

There’s also the interesting thing of art turning into a weapon. Cause a while ago when I was sleep deprived I was like “what cause is there to be weapons in valinor since no one fought each other” and obviously the answer is that weapons weren’t just weapons before. It was an art to make them, to wield them, etc. and so of course, they know how to ostensibly use weapons, just like they may know the vulnerable areas of a body yet not know what it really means to kill someone. Anyways, I can imagine the evolution of their arts—swordsmanship becomes more brutal and quick because you have to be effective and efficient when killing and fighting; metalworking is delegated towards weapons and armor and whatnot and all the intricate details they used before are slowly let go of because the primary concern is making sure the armor isn’t pierced through and their swords will not fail them.

I think there are only like 3 people who could really speak to Jason and who he would ultimately listen to. But something tells me Dick wouldn’t be one of those people or I guess I don’t really see why Dick would be that important to Jason’s story. Like sure he’s important but not enough for Dick and his story to constantly overlap. Do you have any thoughts on that?

personally i am interested in dick contending with the guilt of his own absence in jason’s life, like in the sense that he obv had no obligations towards jason bc jason was adopted after he stopped living at the manor and he was bruce’s primary responsibility, but nonetheless having met him a few times and knowing what bruce could be like (and admittedly this is where the irony is bc as we all know bruce’s demeanor was actually comparatively bright with jason around bc he helped abate the loneliness bruce felt after dick left) we could construe that he felt a little guilt in addition to the grief he explicitly experienced when jason died. so in context of that and the fact that he lived in the manor for a while during knightfall and may have eventually unearthed some of jason’s old things, found his report cards, the stuff from the todds’ apartment, etc, i do think he would be frustrated to see what jason is doing with his life once he comes back as the red hood bc like, here is a kid who could have been doing so much with his own life and now he has a chance at it again and he’s doing. . . this. i think that sentiment would be there in some capacity. but what i also think people don’t talk about enough and what i believe dick’s character assassination per his re-entry to the batfam kinda enables is the fact that like. i think he would be way more of a hardass on jason’s activities as the red hood than bruce would be. like obv bruce and dick are both generally against killing and they would esp be in such a violently proactive case as jason’s, but bruce has a way of letting his emotional attachments debilitate him in a way that i don’t think dick does. like that’s not wording it properly bc dick absolutely has the capacity to get emotionally ugly in his worst moments over the people he loves but ig what i mean to say is i think he handles it better than bruce does on a practical level. feeling like absolute dog water doesn’t prevent dick from having a work-related or moral-related clarity of mind where i think bruce potentially has the capacity to falter. so the fact that we got this portrayal of bruce hardening relatively quickly in his approach to jason kinda boggles me bc i feel like realistically he would have been crying shaking throwing up, begging jason to put the guns down and come back home, etc etc. and in comparison i think dick would have been the guy who was like i mourned the kid who died four years ago for what he could have been and i’m sorry for what you went through but it’s no excuse for what you’re doing now and i’m not going to try reasoning with you or asking you to come back home when what you’re doing is clearly a violation of ethics and a decision you’re actively making that i fundamentally disagree with. which ig is a long winded way of agreeing with you that, yeah, i don’t think dick would be actively trying to beg jason to change. to me that would be bruce bc he just wants his son back

1. Why did you pick their name? It's a nod to The Young Ones' punk Vyvyan Basterd, also wanted something that made it likely it'd be abbreviated to "V"

2. Why did your character get that name in-universe? I like to think Vyv's parents named him after a family member generations back, like his great-great-grandmother or smth. I don't think he ever learns about that though, he's had a spotty relationship with his birth parents at best and left home at a very young age.

9. What’s their most annoying trait? Has a tendency to severely overestimate his own capabilities (esp. in combat) which puts his close ones into peril on numerous occasions (unfortunately, realistically, he is not cut out be a major leagues merc in any capacity )

I never understood vegans opposing eggs. Unlike milk, you dont do anything to get a chicken to lay an egg. They just do it. And if you don't take them the eggs will just rot and get gross.

Farm eggs and local eggs are great bc you know the animals are treated fine. It's the cage eggs I think they're protesting, and those animals have truly horrific lives and (where financially possible, although it isn't for everyone) we should aim to buy farm eggs.

Cage eggs are from chickens that live in tiny wire cages, many have the front half of their beaks removed, and only the girls are kept. You don't wanna know what they do to male chicks who are born, it's not good.

You should also be skeptical of the conditions for barn chickens, esp if thebox says a ridiculous amount of animals per metre or hectare. Do they get outside time, and what do they get fed? There's a farm near us which has a dedicated livestream on their chickens for people to see how they are cared for. Next time I get eggs I can share the link, its on the box.

Like any animal that's been domesticated, chickens have been carefully bred for their laying capacity so they do lay a lot of eggs, sometimes several a day.

It's best to ask a farmer about the hens and eggs, but realistically they're a byproduct unless they've been fertilised, and from what I recall of the chickens we had when I was little (and they were rescues so they might have been atypical) they would brood on these eggs until they started to get... smelly.

Unless we gave them ceramic/plastic alternatives to sit on and took the real ones. If there was no other food available, they'd eat their eggs too.

If we should be upset by anything, its the grain-fed cows.

There's a farm that does it in a town I drive past several times a week, and its awful. The animals are packed into this little paddock with no grass, its consistently a muddy churned mass bc urine and rain etc.

I don't know if the persistent muddiness is why there is no grass or if that's deliberate to make sure they only have grain fed. It's just not great, they don't DO anything during the day, just stand there and mill about a bit. As far as I'm aware the RSPCA and other organisations have visited and by the loopholes in laws, they're feeding and caring for the animals, so its fine. At least on a farm or in a paddock they get to do what cows do, and chill most of their life, these guys and grainfeds in other shady little places most likely, aren't getting a lot of that.

Not to mention those awful pig-breeding locations that keep being caught where sows are pinned to the ground by either a head or body restraint to prevent eating a piglet or rolling on one. Like, yikes.

And before anyone brings it up, shearing a sheep is safe. You do not take the whole goddamn skin off for the sake of wool, it's a haircut.

And yes, sometimes the little buggers wiggle about, so they get a nick or two but they naturally produce lannolin, which soothes and protects the cuts. If there's anything we should be angry about, it's the lack of regulations around mulesing and docking (trigger warning for blood, injury and medical proceedures without proper anaesthetics). If we had better protections and rules around animals, perhaps the government would be coerced into subsidising the provision of anaesthics and appropriate tools (medical grade) to farm areas with animals that need docking of tails or mulesing, to keep them safe.

Make no mistake, flystrike is horrific and needs to be prevented at all costs, but there's also a lot of people out there doing things without real training or proper equipment and the animals are the ones who suffer. You wouldn't call a person off the street to do your cosmetic surgery, bc they're not trained.

Back to the main topic, because my brain works like a whirlpool of little fragments of info:

But good farmers, good producers and people who know their business are out there doing right by their animals. They provide food and care appropriate, handle the removal of excess eggs or honey safely, because it's a business but its also a way of life.

It's when things get industrialised that the time, attention, care and empathy goes out the window. They become a thing in a box to be used and destroyed as soon as it stops making money; not a living thing that needs time, care and attention.

ok so like. what really gets me about the two of them esp when you think about their classic dynamic is that ra's genuinely expresses such veneration and care for bruce like yes obv they fight to the near death on occasion and some of the things ra's does are very strange (staging the talia and dick kidnapping for example) but that doesn't prevent ra's from recognizing bruce as a worthy opponent and detective and hero and it's why ra's is still willing to work with or help bruce even after the times they've clashed. there's this one issue (the brave and the bold #159) where ra's and bruce team up to prevent the entire world from being turned into crystal from this professor's formula and the way ra's acts with bruce just has such strong dad vibes like it makes me a bit teary. he used to be such a gentleman he used to have so much class he used to really care about the planet in a way where he and bruce could occasionally ally with each other!

but obv we all know this dynamic between them changes over time and the linchpin to it all really is talia. bc whether you're operating from a pre crisis standpoint or a post crisis standpoint, ra's only changes tune with how he approaches bruce bc of something that's happened to talia. in pre crisis he lashes out bc talia leaves him and he's now left to carry out his crusade truly alone and in post crisis he lashes out first bc bruce leaves talia after her alleged miscarriage and walks out of the marriage and then later bc bruce once again indirectly prompts talia into leaving ra's for good. and it strikes at such a subtle but significant loneliness to ra's that is really fascinating to me and that i think could be a much more interesting angle to approach the lazarus pit madness from bc it makes you go a little crazier the more you use it but what helps in the past is that talia or bruce is there to bring ra's back to the present

with both of them gone ra's has no control over how he succumbs to the emotional volatilities of the revivals and with both of them gone he's left incredibly jaded bc here he thought were the two people he cared about who could potentially support him and his vision. like yes he's not right in the head but it's just so tragic to me bc he has good reasons for doing what he does and he could even be capable of accomplishing some real good in the way that he and bruce worked together during son of the demon, but he's prevented from seeing reason out of an intensified loneliness and grief over losing the only people he trusts. like bruce really could have been the son that he dreamed of, could have helped curb the league in a worthwhile direction, and it's that final rejection of ra's that i think really hurts him the most and drives him to such insane ends to drag bruce back to him bc he can't process that rejection in any capacity

i said it once before but i am always confused as to why people want so badly for talia and by extension bruce to be the gaslight gatekeep girlboss element in their child's life when ra's is literally right there. realistically bruce to me is someone who lets go of his children out of how much he criticizes himself for his own failures with them despite how much he wants them to stay whereas ra's is someone who would drag his daughter and bruce back kicking and screaming if he could bc he refuses to be rejected. and it's incredibly toxic and unhealthy but it's also so tragic bc they could have been everything and yet here they are, in shambles, so far apart from each other when they could have offered each other so much by way of understanding and comfort

Akatsuki Littlespace Headcanons

I could and probably will write more, but I don’t feel like it right now, so here’s this.

Disclaimer 1: Littlespace, in the AU and in real life, is a coping mechanism for everything from everyday stressors to psychological disorders like PTSD. If you sexualize littlespace do not interact with this AU or me, I will block you.

Disclaimer 2: Littlespace in this post is slightly different from in real life, magic-ed up in a similar way to how ninjas are magic-ed up in the Naruto universe. Chakra-using littles actually revert to the size they were when they were their little ages, although they retain any bodily changes since then (little Kakuzu still has stitches, little Deidara would have hand mouths.) The exception of course is Sasori, whose body is manmade and doesn’t change. People also do not necessarily remember their big lives when they slip into littlespace, sometimes becoming confused about where they are and who they’re with. They will sometimes be confused about what time period they’re in as well, believing things to have happened that hadn’t happened yet in their little age but were far in the past in their adult age.

This isn’t how I’m going to treat littlespace w/ Naruto characters all the time on this account btw, it’s just an idea I’ve been playing around with, like the psychological defense of reverting to a childlike state inadvertently triggers a transformation jutsu to match.

Nagato:

Little age pre Yahiko’s death was 6-7, post is 2-4

Started regressing shortly after the formation of the original Akatsuki. She and Yahiko had to do research to figure out why their teenage friend had suddenly turned into a child, but after they learned they took care of him: treated him like a child, bought him kids books from the local thrift shop, tucked him into bed. He called them uncle and auntie.

He would stay in littlespace for a surprisingly long amount of time, for 4-6 hours on days between missions.

After Yahiko’s death he spent many days in a row regressed to age two. Konan scrambled to take care of him and handle her own grieving. After that was over he promised her she wouldn’t have to take care of him again.

Nowadays of course she still takes care of him when he regresses, but he tries to force himself out of it if he begins to.

He still has board books and stuffies, so if he does fully regress he’ll have one of his pein bodies bring them to him.

Being ~3 he doesn’t have the mental capacity to control all the Peins, so they just kind of idle for awhile.

Konan:

Little age is 3-5

Pre modern Akatsuki she didn’t like regressing at all and only did it involuntarily. She would handle it by either walking it off or reading Nagato’s board books by herself.

This continued pretty much until she started becoming friends with Kakuzu, who openly admitted he was a little (he thought she should know, in case it ended up delaying his missions--it was mostly so she would stick up for him to Pein. No, he wasn’t hunting bounties, there’s a perfectly logical explanation--)

So she had a bad day while she and Kakuzu were at the same base and went ‘can you please deal with me for a couple of minutes’ and he was like ‘ofc’ so she sat down in front of him and shrank down to a little girl and started crying. He picked her up and bounced her on his knee until she calmed down. She ended up staying little for a couple of hours because Kakuzu took her out of the office and telling her stories about his childhood while they prepared dinner.

Kisame becomes her caretaker too when the three of them start dating.

Sometimes she starts crying inconsolably about something she won’t talk about other than someone leaving her and something being unfair. Pein showed up during this one time and said he knew what she was talking about and it was none of her cgs’ concern which ofc made them concerned but they haven’t gotten the chance to talk to her about it.

Itachi:

Little age is 2-4 but since her chakra is often very low so she doesn’t always physically become that tiny.

She didn’t regress until after she joined the Akatsuki, but when she did Kisame wasn’t surprised. He reintroduced himself as her babysitter, slipped her a lollipop and took her to a library to pick out some kids books.

Loves to be pampered. Oh god it’s the only time she can relax at all

Wears reading glasses because they can’t get her in to an eye doctor appointment

She’s trans in this au because I say so

Likes playing with weasel and crow toys, esp when her caretaker (usually Kisame, Konan and Kakuzu as well when they’re around) plays the weasel and she’s the crow. She’ll tell stories where they go out to the woods to train or just hang out.

She loves to sit in laps <3

She eats a lot more in littlespace than out so whoever’s feeding her makes lots of food. For her to grow big and strong u know

Kisame:

Little age 0. He is just baby

Being reminded of the bloody mist triggers his littlespace, though he has to be in a bad headspace in the first place. It really does not happen often.

Post Akatsuki the first time he slipped was after he, Kakuzu and Konan started dating. Kakuzu woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of crying and woke Konan up immediately afterwards because holy sh*t there’s a baby in our bed!!

It was Kisame. Kakuzu picked him up and rocked him back to sleep. Konan asked how he was so good with kids and he was like ‘oh I had a baby once.’ She does not ask him to elaborate. Kisame wakes up as an adult the next morning.

They keep a container of powder formula for him if he regresses but won’t get him a pacifier because they’re afraid he’d bite off and choke on the teat. They have bottles but Kakuzu makes the nipples for them out of one of his threads on the spot bc he’d bite through literally everything else with his tiny demon teeth.

Sasori:

Little age is unclear (unlike some of the others, he’s never said it.)

Signs he’s in littlespace: stops talking, stops walking if he can afford it, walks unsteadily and a little bowlegged if he can’t. Stops using ninjutsu and if he’s near a kitchen he might try to eat despite not having a digestive system anymore. Has been known to ask where Granny Chiyo is. The answer is ‘back home.’

Deidara got him a pacifier and a coloring book. He does use them but not when anyone else is watching, not even Deidara.

He is a bit upset when he’s reminded that his body is wooden. He would like to feel things please. But he learns to just enjoy the sensation of squishing a stuffie and his jaw chewing on a paci.

Deidara:

Not actually a little. He just hasn’t gone through sh*t like the rest of the Akatsuki have, and has coping mechanisms for when he is having a bad time.

He caretakes for Konan when her boys aren’t around and for Sasori if he’ll let him.

Hidan told him about littles after Kakuzu regressed in front of him and thought Deidara might need to know because of how much baggage Sasori has (he doesn’t know what it is but he can smell drama)

So he looked out for Sasori becoming a kid and learned instead to look for him not acting like an adult. He walked out of Hiruko and tried to eat in front of him and Deidara had to tell him he couldn’t have a strawberry because it was bad for his health and not because it would probably make his insides mold. It’s weird but Deidara is also weird and he makes it work.

Kakuzu:

Little age is 9-10

Post Akatsuki the first time he regressed was in front of Hidan in the middle of the woods. He didn’t recognize him and immediately tried to run and then beat him up when he chased him. Hidan had to think fast and tell him he was his new neighbor and pretend to be taking him home. The next time he was babysitting.

Sometimes asks where his husband is. The first time Hidan heard this his response was ‘what the f*ck’ and Kakuzu told him that was a bad word.

Enjoyed activities include reading, sparring, and to the surprise of some, hunting. He’s not bad w/ a bow and arrow.

The best way to keep him in/make him feel comfy in littlespace is to make him a meal. U can let him help to the extent that he sets the table or pours the drinks or smth (because he will ask) but take care of the food for him, because he hasn’t had someone else handle that for him in a long time.

Regressing isn’t necessarily a common thing for him to do but he’s one of the only ones whose regression can be triggered by physical pain as well as emotional. He can usually harden his skin to block attacks but if he doesn’t in time he may turn into a ten year old. It actually can surprise an opponent enough for Hidan to be able to take them out.

Hidan:

Not a little either.

Knew about littles bc there was an old man in his village who had ptsd from some long forgotten war and sometimes turned into a six year old.

Caretakes for Kakuzu pretty exclusively, unless Kakuzu is big and taking care of someone else, in which case he’ll help out if he’s feeling nice at the time. Itachi is actually his favorite to take care of because Itachi is a very manageable child.

Obito:

Little age varies wildly from about 1-11. He blocks his physical regression because he regresses Often and doesn’t want to blow his Madara cover.

He has been regressing since p much immediately after he got crushed. Madara was really having none of it and went from patiently waiting for him to become ‘big’ again to pretending it wasn’t happening, forcing Obito back into a uh. ‘’Normal’’’’ headspace

The Tobi act is actually covering his littlespace though when he’s an adult he has no idea how to realistically act like a kid so when he’s actually a kid it’s kind of jarring for all involved

When he’s a baby he just screams. Not really crying in distress but screaming because he can

i continue to be someone who absolutely shouldn’t be weighing in on this since I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!, but hey, this is the fandom event of our century, real life is incredibly dull and disturbing right now, and i want in. so!

i feel like, in terms of what could possibly be realistically expected from the last 2 eps of spn in the destiel department, here’s my predictions! (based in, again, very nearly nothing. mwahaha! i read a lot of meta on the tag whilst procrastinating upon my life duties, and i guess i have watched one million tv shows before and might have developed some understanding of narrative from that, but that’s honestly a huge stretch.)

i don’t 100% get what the empty is, but considering the “super hell” of it all, it seems too sad for cas to be trapped there for eternity (esp. with two episodes to go), and it indeed seems like a force that shouldn’t even exist by the end of the show. so i think dean saving cas seems not-narratively-irrational, even if it just means that cas is rescued out into a nicer version of the afterlife instead.

i think a passionate hug is not entirely out of the bounds of reality. and it should happen! oh, it should happen! maybe even, like, some tender face touching, in a ~manly~ way. i think we could also juuuust get by with, say, one of them falling asleep on the other’s shoulder. all the vintage mulder/scully classics of technically-platonic physical affection that makes people lose Their God Damned Minds.

i like the emotional symmetry of the idea of dean also having the chance to voice his feelings for cas, though i think they’d keep it ambiguous re: the nature of those feelings. but it seems important for dean to be able to say what cas means to him to reciprocate what cas did in 15.18.

i also kind of think that cas being changed into a mortal human seems thematically appropriate, especially with all the emphasis on “you changed me” in his goodbye speech and how it was dean that helped him love humanity. like, the idea of dying as an angel but being reborn as a human seems real poignant in the context of all that, and cas’s arc in general. i remember there being a lot of buzz about this idea even back when i was briefly in the fandom’s orbit circa s4-s5! (also, i’m p. sure he must have been a human at least six times within the seasons i have not seen, for irresistible plot twist reasons, but why not go for it one last time and make it stick?)

alternately, in a cas-is-dead world: if dean does die and sam lives (which seems to be a somewhat commonly predicted outcome), dean and cas being in the afterlife together and giving each other a “what’s up, man, guess we’re eternal companions!” nod as they sit together in the ghost-impala seems to exactly walk the line of ‘desperately romantic to those in the know/just-good-bros stuff to the unfortunate non-fandom supernatural fans who share all their show thoughts on reddit and facebook’

and these have been ... my predictions! no idea what will happen to anybody else or in any other capacity because i literally don’t know who any of the other characters are! (chuck ... is god? jack ... is castiel’s son somehow ... with magic powers over the realms of heaven and hell? eileen ... is sam’s gf? *shrug*) my sudden presence in this fandom is, as you can see, extremely valid. it’s been an honor clowning with you from afar, destiel devotees. Listen... toddler/baby izuku (like 2 or 3) was left at ua gate and aizawa is tasked with caring for him while class 1a collectively adopts baby izu as their little brother. I need more family fluff

i think an izuku growing up as aizawa’s son (or ward!) would b rly interesting, esp w him basically growing up on UA’s campus

like, as a kid who loves heroes and analyzing quirks, it would b the perfect place to grow up!

there definitely would b no lack of love & affection. like not only does he have an awesome dad(zawa),, but also all aizawa’s students would dote on him so hard 🥺🥺

uraraka and the girls especially! they would basically demand aizawa bring izuku to sit in their class at least once a week

izuku would love it- he gets to spend time w his cool big sibs AND his dad AND learn abt hero theory like a big kid!

all the other professors would love him too, of course. i think present mic and midnight would basically b like his uncle and aunt (they would spoil him So Hard)

but i also think growing up at UA might be hard for izuku sometimes....

to be surrounded by some of the most powerful quirks in the country and being quirkless himself

and even though everyone loves him, i think that a lot of the heroes would b skeptical of him wanting to b a hero ?

like, i think they would treat it like when you hear a kid say they want to be a princess or wizard or whatever when they grow up.

they would indulge him, but also just kind of assume he would eventually grow out of it and set more realistic goals

aizawa would b one of the exceptions. any other quirkless kid, he might have doubts abt whether they could b a hero

but raising izuku, seeing how smart and determined he is, aizawa would believe in his capacity to be a hero, quirk or no

(once all might comes into the picture though, things would definitely change for izuku v quickly 👀 👀 👀 )

50 headcanon challenge prompted by @bnharpchub​ bc so many people were doing it on dash and my restraint is only so strong 

coming up with 50 new headcanons was so difficult jfc AWOEINAWE i cheated a bit and some of them mention hcs I already wrote about before, but I did my best to focus on a different part of it to give it a new spin so it’s technically new....ish. awoieNAWEIAWNE

he learned how to cook because his parents were always busy and he wasn’t going to just expect them to cook for him when he could just do it himself ( he learned a whole LOT of things because he realized he could just do it himself )

he doesn’t usually keep things for sentiment reasons. there ARE a few exceptions, but for the most part if it’s important enough to remember he’ll just simply remember it 

he likes the view from up high. mountain climbing really made him aware of that, and it was a part of the reason why he wanted to learn how to fly ( that, and just the fact of it being practical, using his quirk to enhance movement ) 

sometimes puts on a clear coat of nail strengthening polish during weeks of particular harsh training. he would put on coloured polish too, but they often get ruined very quickly because of how much he uses his hands and so he doesn’t see the point to do it often 

his sweat isn’t actually toxic ( mostly bc I do NOT want to deal with all the problems having toxic sweat would cause, but there is more to it that I’ll write in depth of another day when I’m less lazy ) 

His volume is one of the few ways he feels like he can be heard. His mother is also a very loud person, and growing up he would be stuck in situations where if he doesn’t yell LOUDER, he won’t be heard. If he is WILLINGLY quiet around you, that is a sign of trust, a sign that he’s comfortable enough to not feel the need to be loud. 

he cannot stand his mouth being covered, nor does he take well to being told to keep quiet. He GETS that not many people appreciate his loudness. He KNOWS there is always time and place. But being loud is a defensive mechanism, and it being taken away against his will just messes with him a lot. 

speaking of, a large part of why he got the ‘i dont give a fuck about anyone else’ attitude is because no one would really care about him. It wasn’t just because he had a big head. He was acutely aware that people around him would praise him and rise him up, but never actually listen to him or cared what he wants. Why should he care about other people if no one gave a fuck about him? ( he knows better now )

he’s cautious about giving villains second chances. it’s not like he’s against giving villains a chance at redemption ( he knows he’d be a fucking hypocrite if he was ) but he also is realistic, and knows that some people are just shitheads and will refuse to change no matter what. knows that some people will take advantage of people with bleeding hearts ( cOUGHS like dEKU’s COUGHS ) and so he’s just. very wary and distrusting. he’ll give you a chance, but he’s going to watch you during it. 

if the ranking system of heroes gets abolished, it won’t really affect Katsuki’s goals. from the start when he says ‘number one hero’ what he cares most about is being number one by HIS standards. ofc he was planning to get ranked number one too, but if such a system falls apart, he’d just make sure he becomes the Best till no one can argue against it either way 

katsuki has always used his quirk often. he hates rules regulating quirk use because it’s so stupid to him. how the hell was he going to become number one if he didn’t know how to use his own damn quirk? ofc he still tried to abide by the law well enough, in public refraining for the most part ( but his middle school very obviously was super lacking in discipline so he just didn’t bother hiding his usage of quirk there )

his quirk acts up when he has high emotion — but MOST of the time, that is less him losing control and more of a conscious decision on his part. resisting the urge to explode when his body is aching to is dangerous, so it’s better to let loose small, controlled, explosions when the time comes. He works hard to keep control of his quirk, he knows when it’s best to just let explosions loose and when he can hold it in

even without explosions he has a habit of his fingers twisting or fist clenching when he’s high strung. restricting his hands in any way, esp during these times, are an absolute no for him. he WILL react violently if you take away his only method of physically defending himself. 

the reason why he NEEDS to be able to defend himself at all times comes from his lack of trust. He doesn’t WANT to rely on other people, because they could mess up so it’s just better to do it himself. so if people try and stop him from doing it himself.... just nope. 

he’s so so so SO bad at accepting compliments. he’s used to empty meaningless compliments, praise for things he didn’t even earn, so getting actual compliments that are WORTH something. it’s. a lot. he doesn’t know how to properly handle it yet so his first reaction is to reject it somehow ( either by telling the person they are being an idiot, or finding fault in the compliment itself, or something along those lines ) 

he has a base respect for pro heroes in general, because he understands that they have experience he is obviously lacking being a student. but he won’t be blinded by their status. if they fuck up, they fuck up and no ‘hero’ status will keep him from recognizing that 

he doesn’t actually hate quirkless people. he never really has. he had a problem with DEKU, but not exactly quirkless people in general. he started calling Izuku as “Deku” before he knew that he would never get a quirk. He called him ‘deku’ because izuku would fail at bouncing a ball or skipping stones and such ( back then, almost ALL people were ‘useless’ to him, not just quirkless people aoweinaoweianwe ) 

he as sharp teeth. not enough to be called fangs or anything, but they are definitely sharper than average ( he’s a little gremlin so I must give him sharp teeth ) 

he’s still struggling to ask for help. he can easily admit that he needs backup when it comes to hero works — knows that teamwork is essential at times and saving and BEING saved in turn is how being a hero is. BUT for PERSONAL things? Outside of being a hero? As a person??? He doesn’t know HOW to ask for help with that. 

He’s ALWAYS been super independent. so people just. expect him to be fine on his own. HE himself expected to be fine on his own. But by the time he realized wait no, I’m not fine. People stopped trying to check up on him. ( until U.A., but then old habits die hard. but he’s learning ) 

he tends to shower at night more than in the mornings, because he often works out not too long before bed. he also just takes more than one shower a day if needed ofc he takes hygiene seriously

he HATES when he can’t get a full night’s sleep. And sadly ever since getting kidnapped it’s been happening more and more often. he’s unused to functioning without a full eight or nine hours, so he gets cranky all day and feels fucking awful. He used to hate naps, felt like a waste of his day, but they’ve become a bit of a necessity with how shit his sleeping pattern has become. ( plus jordyn’s shoto has shown him the wonders of napping aowienawe ) 

he doesn’t take long to get ready in the morning. even if he needs to dress differently for an occasion or anything, he doesn’t spend long trying to decide what to wear

his quirk isn’t affected by rain or water like people would expect, but it’s fucking COLD so he still hates getting wet

he’s really good at fighting even without his quirk. he absolutely has thought of situations where he couldn’t use his quirk to full capacity, and so he decided he needed to kick ass even without it

he’s really level-headed in battle!!! despite how he acts, he ALWAYS considers all options and acts on the best one. He just thinks really fast and acts the way he does so it SEEMS like he’s charging in without thinking ahead. That being said, he used to often underestimate his opponents so he’d sometimes make the wrong call. He’s getting MUCH better at not doing that lately tho

he doesn’t really celebrate his own birthday. he gets well wishes from his family, often they’d get a cake maybe, but he doesn’t really WANT or NEED presents, so he had his parents stop trying to gift him things years ago. His birthday is SUPER close to the beginning of the year, so it is often times overlooked by his peers too, but he doesn’t care

Katsuki is demisexual!! He can recognize when people are traditionally attractive, but he doesn’t really fucking care and isn’t attracted TO them. It’s only once they’ve become someone he actually CARES about could he then develop any feelings beyond platonic ones ( no love at first sight here )

he’d NEVER pick up smoking, and even when of age he’d very rarely drink. He wouldn’t want his health to deteriorate by stuff like that. And he wouldn’t want his ability to think be hindered by alcohol

he doesn’t like lying unless for good reason ( like hiding ofa ) but he doesn’t see lying by omission as the same. To him, that’s just him deciding it’s no one’s business and so there’s no need for him to admit to anything

people have tried to bully him as a kid. we’ve seen him chase off older kids in canon before. It wasn’t just a one time thing. It was pretty constant, actually. Other kids, usually those older than him, would hear about him and his attitude and try and ‘put him in his place’ It’s not like he was very popular as a kid, it’s just that Katsuki always WON any fights so no one could actually do anything to him

his nicknames, for the most part, aren’t actually meant to be insulting. Besides like Deku, and when he called Todoroki “holding back bastard”, the rest are just,,, descriptions in his mind aowienAWE ThEY ARE RUDE AF but he doesn’t actually seek out the rudest name he can think of to call people. It’s just whatever comes to mind first

he doesn’t actually mind when people call him out on his shit anymore. he’d in fact admit that they have guts to do so. If they try and call him out on BULLSHIT though, then he’d get angry bc they are just wasting his goddamn time. 

he KNOWS when his classmates are purposefully manipulating him to doing something by phrasing it as a challenge. It’s just he doesn’t give a shit, he’ll rise to the challenge anyways and prove them all WRONG. 

If he really doesn’t wanna do something, there’s absolutely nothing that could get him to do it 

his way of SHOWING that he cares is through actions and gifts. Doing things for people ( studying, cooking, etc ) that he cares about comes naturally to him

On the contrary, he struggles to process it when people try and show that they care the same way. He doesn’t like getting gifts, and he rather do the things he needs to himself??? The easiest way he can understand people showing that they care is through quality time. If you are willing to spend time with him, seek him out? He can get that means you WANT to. ( if this is proven wrong it’d shake his entire acceptance in that person. he’d struggle to believe that they care for him at all in any way after ) 

once you broke his trust, it’s impossible to gain it back. he DOESNT trust easily. he takes so many careful measures to prevent himself from trusting the wrong person. if he gave you his trust you better fucking treasure it, because it’s only given out once. That being said, there are different levels of trust that katsuki gives out — as seen on his relationship page. Level two trust is when it starts getting serious. If you have that, that’s when if broken it’s unfixable. Level one trust is a toss up if broken, very dependent on situation

soft smiles are hard to come by from katsuki! We’ve all seen his confident grins in the face of danger all the time — he smiles a lot during challenges and battle!! But soft ones? Full of fondness and love? They are pretty rare. And even when they DO happen, often it’s only when no one can see

His EYES are actually what turns soft first!! You have a better chance catching his eyes and eyebrows turn a bit less aggressive, but again they aren’t exactly common per say. He doesn’t like showing such expression unless he feels like attention is off him. ( he just. isn’t USED to expressing himself this way. so he doesn’t really like when people draw attention to when he does. because it makes him feel like he did something wrong, in a way )

it’s actually easy to make katsuki flustered and embarrassed. he’S not uSED to it so he’s weak let him live aowieNAWE his ears are the first to turn red!!! but if you really get him embarrassed he does go completely red sorry kats

he does all of his homework well in advance. he hates leaving ANYTHING to the last minute, really

he’s done modeling work as a kid. sometimes he still does, but very rarely. He doesn’t exactly hate doing it, but he just isn’t the least bit interested so he rather spend his time doing something else. When he does do it, you bet he takes it 100% seriously.

he won’t argue if someone calls him a shit person. he knows that he is, and he refuses to deny that. what DOES piss him off though is when people solely focus on how shit of a person he is to the extend of disregarding the perfect results he gives. He’s a shit person, but he’s still the BEST and fuck anyone who says otherwise.

he also knows that he is changing, because it’s a conscious effort on his part TO change. But that’s also the thing. He’s working hard to not be shitty ALL the time, but that doesn’t change the fact that at his core, he’s still not a NICE person. he’s acutely aware that the things he struggles so much with, comes so easy to other people. He wont let this STOP him , he’s never called it quits before just because something was difficult for him, but it still sucks. knowing just how much effort he’s putting into this when some people barely think about it at all

katsuki was well versed in medical knowledge even before U.A. Not because he was thinking about how heroes may need to give emergency care on the field, but just from his own injuries during self training. he needed to know how to treat them properly so it doesn’t cause him problems in the future 

katsuki runs hot, but he gets cold easily. Because he’s used to keeping himself running at high temperatures, his concept of cold is different than most other’s. Suddenly being in like sixty five degrees Fahrenheit feels COLD to him

intended use for furniture are only suggestions. That means yes, he WILL sit on top of desks and counters, stand on top of chairs, and put his feet on the bed while he lays on the floor if he so goddamn chooses. 

no matter how close with a person he is, he’ll eventually need time alone and his personal space left untouched. It takes a lot to get to the point where physical touch is something he’d allow, ( having both touch starvation and touch aversion in equal parts ) but even with people he is completely comfortable with, sometimes it still gets to be TOO mUCH and he needs to step back. he has bad days, too. where just a brush of contact would set him off and he can’t understand himself why it happens. all he knows is that he really hates those days.

it still stings, the knowledge that All Might never even considered him for a possible successor. he was RIGHT THERE when all might picked izuku, after all. and all might can say all he wants about how ‘he was already powerful, he wanted to give midoriya a fighting chance’ or whatever. he knows he was never a contender. it’s not that he WANTS ofa though. he is perfectly happy with his quirk. It’s not even that it’s deku who ended up getting it, he in retrospect is glad deku can fight him now. It’s just. in the end, he’s always always lacking something. it just fuels to his belief of never being good enough when it counts. because HE is NEVER anyone’s first choice to be the up and coming number one. He’s GOING to be. He’ll prove EVERYONE wrong. But, it sure would be nice. Someone else believing in him, too.
