FFXIVWrite Day twenty-nine: Contravention
Pokemon! Gotta catch em Aldenard! AU belongs to @windupnamazu
It was a dark, and clear night.
Cherrypit wandered away from the camp where his friends and sister slept. He had seen something scurry by and take one of Babycorn’s snacks. His sister really liked those snacks and he was gonna get it back or die trying!
Cherrypit stopped just short of a large bush in front of him. There was a weird piece of cloth stuck on the bush, it was yellow and looked like a torn up shirt. “Weird!” Cherrypit grabbed the shirt and lifted it up, looking underneath it.
“Woaaaaah! Creepy!!” What he saw under there cannot be described.
“Mimi-!” A Mimikyu jumped from out of the bushes. It was still being grabbed by Cherrypit’s tiny hand and it didn’t get very far before it fell to the ground. Cherrypit was astonished. Here it was right in front of him. A pokemon that was the very same one his idol, Lunya Lanya had!
“Pikachu!!”
Babycorn took note that something felt off ever since they all came back from Cherrypit’s second gym battle. She didn’t usually notice things like that so this just meant that something was really off. Whatever it was, she had a bad feeling about it.
It had all started when famed Champion Lunya Lanya had decided to tag along and watch Cherrypit’s attempt to beat the gym leader, Wyrnzoen.
They had spotted her while walking around the city and Babycorn had recognized her almost immediately. It was fairly easy for her to spot Lunya from anywhere, after spending months staring at her face whenever she cooked a panini for breakfast.
After Cherrypit spent a few moments asking for her autograph and gushing to Lunya about all the battles he’d seen her in, he asked her to go and watch him battle the gym leader they were heading to. To Babycorn’s surprise, Lunya agreed and followed the two of them.
On the way Lunya and Babycorn talked to each other and Babycorn told her all about how Cherrypit had classified himself as her biggest fan. Listing off all the merchandise that Cherrypit had bought with her name on it.
Lunya found it flattering and kinda adorable.
Of course she did! Babycorn huffed, only fools would think that her brother isn’t adorable.
Once the Gym battle was underway, Babycorn did what she had been doing since the start of their adventure. A stun spore here and a confusion there would be enough to give Cherrypit enough of the edge to win.
What Babycorn failed to realize is how comfortable she was getting doing this.
She wasn’t even putting in any thought that Lunya Lanya, a registered Pokemon champion, was sitting almost right next to her. Babycorn just figured that she would be too busy watching how cool Cherrypit was to pay any attention to little ol’ her cheating in the corner.
Surely everything would work out alright.
Then after Cherrypit won his second badge it looked like Babycorn had gotten away with it again. It wasn’t the first time she’s helped him so she had more practice than the first gym battle Cherrypit had.
‘It’s still him doing most of the work! I’m just lending a helping hand!’ Was her excuse for helping him. Which she thought was pretty clever how she mixed in a pokemon move into her explanation. Hahaha she was soooo smart.
After the gym battle Babycorn figured that Lunya would say her goodbyes and leave. It came as quite a shock that she wanted to follow them to their post-victory lunch. Babycorn warned her that it wasn’t anything too fancy, just a couple of sandwiches on a picnic blanket.
‘I want to be there to congratulate your brother! He did a good job today!’
Babycorn couldn’t have stopped Lunya even if she wanted to. Cherrypit let out a cheer and grabbed Lunya by the hand, practically dragging her all the way to where they were going to eat lunch. All the while telling her even more about all the battles he watched.
‘I saw when you became champion!! You and your pokemon are so coooooool! Oh hey! Ms.Lunya can you teach me how to be a champion just like you?!’
‘It’s not really something I can teach you, Cherry…’
All the while Babycorn couldn’t help shake this feeling that something was off.
That feeling finally came to a head when after setting up the picnic blanket, Lunya decided to make her move.
Lunya’s Pikachu, Ruruby jumped off her trainer’s shoulder and sparks flew from her cheeks. “Why don’t we have a little battle Cherry?” Lunya asked. It was one of the first things that Cherrypit had asked of her right before he decided to bombard her with a million other questions.
“Really?!” Cherrypit looked absolutely thrilled.
While Babycorn looked a lot less so. “Really!?” Cherrypit had told her that he had wanted to battle Lunya one day but her brother still only had one pokemon and two gym badges. Babycorn believed in him with every fiber in her body but she still had to be realistic. There was no way he stood a chance against a CHAMPION.
“I’d love to!! Let’s go!!” Cherrypit bounced up and down in excitement. Tulip was just as excited as him and brimming with confidence. After all she had just single-handedly handled a gym, after that there wasn’t much she couldn’t do.
“Let’s do our best then!” Lunya smiled, her eyes moving slightly to look at Babycorn.
Babycorn nervously watched her brother as he called Tulip out to battle.
Since Cherrypit only had one pokemon Lunya would only be using one pokemon too. That made Babycorn feel slightly better but that still didn’t mean that the type matchup was any better. According to her guide Cutiefly was a bug type, which meant it didn’t have any disadvantage against Pikachu’s electric typing but it certainly didn’t have an advantage either.
“Oh Cherryyyyy…” Babycorn nervously chewed on her nails as Tsareena sat down on the ground next to her. Letting Babycorn know that she was ready to make a move anytime Babycorn wanted her to.
Pikachu wasn’t a very heavy Pokemon but still, a grass knot from Tsareena would probably-
There was a glimmer in Lunya’s eyes. Now was the time to strike. “Ruruby! Thunder wave!” Lunya pointed straight forward but Ruruby knew what she really meant. “Pika!” Ruruby shot a thunder wave right at Tulip, only for it to curve right at the last second.
The thunder wave hit Tsareena and sent her down to the ground. It didn’t hurt her much or anything, Tsareena was just a huge drama queen. A little bit similar to her trainer. “Tsareena!?!” Babycorn shrieked. Tsareena was fine, just a little confused. And also a little paralyzed.
Cherrypit was confused. “Bebe? What happened? Is Tsareena okay?” He hadn’t seen what had happened exactly, only that Tsareena had fallen over and his sister screamed something. He wasn’t quite sure if he should be worried or if Babycorn had seen a fish pokemon or something.
Lunya called Ruruby back and called over to Cherrypit. “Cherry? Is it alright if we continue our battle later? I need to talk to your sister about something!” She smiled and handed him a handful of berries, all of them for his Cutiefly. “Here! Why don’t you and Tulip go play for a little bit?”
Cherrypit happily took the berries and ran off to go play with Tulip. Throwing the berries at her for her to catch them in her very tiny arms. Which Tulip was very good at.
After making sure that Cherrypit wasn’t paying attention Lunya walked over to where Babycorn was still frozen in shock. Lunya took out a paralyze heal and quickly cured Tsareena of her paralysis. “So, did you decide to use grass knot before or after you realized you missed stun spore?”
Babycorn and her pokemon gulped, all of them looked for each other for guidance on what to do next.
Both Lunya and Ruruby were glaring right through them, with a look that was more disappointed than mad.
That was really scary.
What was even scarier is that they were finally caught.
At first Babycorn was terrified that Lunya would tell on them to like, the bosses of the Pokemon League or something. Since she was the former Champion and everything, surely she would be able to talk to them directly. Then they would take away the badges that Cherrypit had already earned and he would have to start all over!
And he would hate her forever!!!!
“Do you have any idea how dumb an idea that was?!” Lunya scolded them, “Cherry could get in big trouble because of what you did!”
“UwauwaahAAAHH I SAID I WAS SORRYYYY!!!” Babycorn hid herself behind Tsareena who was just as equally as scared as she was. Except she was much bigger and was masking her absolute terror with her size and natural charisma. “I only did it a little bit of tiMES!!!” Babycorn pleaded.
Lunya was absolutely shocked. “You’ve done it more than once?!”
“UHWAHUhwuahwuah!!!!!” Babycorn ran and hid behind Mr.Mime, who put up an invisible wall to protect him and Babycorn from whatever was going to happen next.
“Okay.” Lunya took a deep breath. “I’m not going to tell anyone about this.” It looked like Cherrypit had no idea his sister was even doing this. So she wasn’t about to go and break his heart by telling him that most of his victories were won with cheating.
“Yay!”
“But-!”
“Oh here it comes…” Babycorn tried to hide further behind Mr.Mime.
“If you ever cheat like that I promise I will not hesitate to tell Cherrypit about it.”
“NOOOOO! DON’T DO THAT!!” That would be the single worst possible thing that could happen! Well, the second worst possible thing that could happen probably. After the whole, Pokemon League finding out and taking away Cherrypit’s badges thing. “He’ll be really sad…”
Cherrypit being mad at her was one thing but it would break Babycorn’s heart if he ever found out he didn’t win any of those battles fair and square. “I meant to stop at some point but…I just got really worried. I didn’t want Cherrypit to lose and be sad!”
Lunya sighed. It was pretty clear from the get-go that neither Babycorn or Cherrypit meant anything malicious from their cheating. But it was better for her to catch them then for them to be caught cheating by someone else not as forgiving about this whole thing.
“Just make sure to not do it again.” Lunya looked back at Cherrypit playing with Tulip and Ruruby, “And don’t worry about Cherrypit losing. You and him have to find out that losing is just part of being a pokemon trainer. It happens to everyone.”
“But…he’ll get so sad.”
“Then you’ll be there to help cheer him on until he wins again!” Lunya winked, “You’ll find that after losing, winning a battle feels way more exciting.”
“...If you say so?” Babycorn still didn’t quite get it.
Wait.
“How are you gonna make sure of that?” Unless Lunya had like psychic powers, how would she even know that Babycorn wasn’t going to cheat anymore. Sure, there was the power of trust but Babycorn wouldn’t even trust herself in this case.
Lunya smiled and pulled out her phone. “I guess I’ll just have to come with you!” She began to dial G’raha’s number to let him know where she was and that he should totally come with.
“Wha-What?!”

Reverse Clone AU
So, I've seen a couple stories where Danny is Damian's clone. How about we reverse it?
Danny was born Damian Al Ghul, being raised to be an assassin since he could walk. However, he had a good heart, and eventually his mother overstepped around him (maybe she killed one of his favorite caretakers? Maybe he saw her killing someone with a loving family?), causing him to decide to leave the League next time they let him outside.
He was discovered by the Fentons, got adopted, and had his name changed from Damian Al Ghul into Daniel 'Danny' Fenton. Over the years, his time in the League slowly faded from memory, only remembering that one moment that drove him from them.
Talia, meanwhile, tried to create another baby, but found she didn't have any more DNA from Bruce. However, she did have plenty of Damian/Danny's DNA, so she decided to simply clone her son, making sure that this one would never get it in his head to run away. She decided to let the memory of her first son go, completely overriding it with the new Damian, as if he had been the first son and not merely some clone, forcing everyone in the League to keep the fact a secret.
So, things continue on, Danny becomes Phantom, Damian becomes Robin, so on and so forth. Eventually, one of the Batclan stumble upon Danny and take an interest in him once they realize he looks like Damian.
They actually don't think that he's a clone, because he's older than Damian and records show him having a history older than Damian, so they believe that Talia had another child, which Damian is already a little salty about, because it means that his status as the heir of the League and potentially his title as the only blood son of batman are completely meaningless.
Unfortunately, their investigations lead to the League figuring out where Danny is, at which point Talia drops by and decides to reveal in front of everyone that Danny is the original Damian and Damian is a clone meant to take his place.
The only one who takes it well is Danny, who tells everyone to get off his porch before he activates the home defense systems because he does not care for this drama.

A little while ago while hanging out at the manor for game night, Stephanie introduced the family to another one of her current favorite artist.
This was nothing unusual, Steph had a new favorite artist almost every other week. But this one was different. It wasn't just a single person but a group that called themselves ‘Team Phantom’.
Every song was different as every song was sang by a different person. So there was a song for everyone, including Jason.
He feel in love with the soft smooth voice of ‘The Sister’. Her songs were so dreamy and melancholic, and told stories that he often couldn't understand but made him feel like if he were there doing whatever she was doing. Feeling whatever she was feeling.
It was amazing. Her voice was just so beautiful. So calming. So additive, the way it calmed the pits. He didn't know why but every time her songs played it was like the pits disappeared. And so did ever constant green haze that haunted him.
The sense of clarity he was left with when one of her songs ended was like a fuckin high and he couldn't get enough.
Long after the game night he sought after her music. Her songs. Her voice. It was his medicine and his drug. His addiction. Which sucked because just like every other addiction, withdrawal was a BITCH.
It's been six months since ‘The Sister’ has released a new song. Since ANY of Team Phantom had released any new songs. And it was really suspicious considering how consistent their schedules were. But that was okay, kinda. Life was life and maybe something happened. He'll just listen to her old songs on repeat like he's been doing for the last six months.
Is what he said until they posted a new video to their channel.
It wasn't the 3 to 4 minute animated or stagnant image music video he was uses to. Instead, it was a dark shaking video, as if someone was running. Then bright teal eyes appeared on the screen. Everything stopped for a moment. Then came the still soft and smooth but now trembling voice of ‘The Sister’.
She uttered a single word.
“Help.”
Before it ended and turned black.
It could honestly just be a prank. But something told him other wise.
Before he even decided what course of action he was going to take. A message came in through the family group chat. And from the Demon child no less.
‘We need to help Team Phantom. NOW!!!!!’
Everyone agreed.
And Jason felt very validated that he wasn't the only one secretly addicted to their music.
Now it's time to save Team Phantom.
