AKA a few years after Adaine receives texts of photos of Fabian and Aelwyn making out at a party a similar situation happens again, but this time the roles are reversed.

Aelwyn sighed as she leant back in her chair.

"Gods these kids are stupid.”

It was Friday evening and she was marking papers. She liked to get as much marking done as she could before the weekend so she could have those days off. Although, as she picked her pen up to get back to get back to work, she heard a ping from behind her.

Aelwyn knew she shouldn't check her crystal and should just carry on working, but as she tried to push the distraction out of her head she heard another ping. And then another. And another.

She couldn't take it anymore. She pushed herself out of her seat and rushed over to grab the crystal. Even as she walked to it a few more notifications came in. She picked up the crystal to find that all of them were texts from various people, none of whom she had spoken to in a few years, and each one had an image attached. She clicked on the first one.

"Didn't you used to date this guy?”

Attached was an image of Fabian making out with someone.

She had heard from Adaine that he was having a party tonight. Aelwyn had considered attending, but the current state of her relationship with Fabian was still a little iffy. They had ended what they had previously had going on - she honestly wasn't sure if she would actually call it dating - just before The Bad Kids had gone off to save the world from the Night Yorb. Truthfully, she didn't really want to get back together with him and was worried that if she saw him again he would ask to, although seeing this picture made her think that that might not be a problem anymore.

Honestly, she couldn't quite figure out why exactly she'd been sent this message; they weren't together anymore and she couldn't care less if he was making out with other people. However, as she took a second look at the photo a spark of curiosity lit in her brain. The angle from this person was shit and she couldn't quite see who it was he was kissing, but something about them seemed familiar. She clicked over to the message from the next person and almost dropped her crystal when she saw the photo.

"Adaine?!”

Adaine knocked on the door to her sister’s apartment. She was a little hungover from last night, but she didn't want to miss their weekly hangout; so she would just have to try to hide that fact as best as she could.

As Aelwyn opened the door she had a look on her face that Adaine didn't quite understand.

“What's up with you?” She asked, stepping into the apartment.

“Oh, nothing.” Aelwyn replied, still with that same expression.

It was the sort of taunting expression someone wore when they had a secret that they knew you would love to hear. It infuriated Adaine as she tried to figure out what it could possibly be about.

Aelwyn picked up one of her cats and moved to sit on the sofa, motioning for Adaine to join her.

“So how has your week been?”

“Fine. School’s been a lot easier since Fabian won that dance battle for me to get paid as the Oracle.”

“Mhm, I bet… Speaking of Fabian, how was the party?”

“Oh, it was… fun.” Adaine felt a blush creeping onto face as memories of the previous night ran through her mind.

“You drank quite a lot didn't you?”

“How the hell would you know how much I drank?” She said with a laugh as she tried to push those thoughts back down.

“Well, for one I can tell you're in the midst of a hangover right now. Although, credit where it's due, you do hide it well. Secondly, though, I know the sorts of things you absolutely would not have the confidence to do if you were anywhere near sober.”

“W-what?” Adaine stammered.

“You ought to know, Adaine, that a lot of the people I met partying years ago still attend every party they can. And they love to gossip.” Aelwyn sneered.

“Shit.” Adaine muttered, as a wave of realisation hit her.

Aelwyn put the cat she had been petting down on the ground and turned to sit fully facing Adaine.

“So, how long has something been going on between you two?”

“Just since last night, really. I got rather drunk and I guess I decided to act on a crush I've had… for a while.”

“A while, huh? And how long exactly might that be?”

“Maybe since… Freshman Year.” Adaine murmured, refusing to look at her sister. “What does it even matter, can't we talk about something else?”

“Oh, alright, if you're going to be such a baby about it.”

Adaine couldn't be bothered to give a retort, she was just pleased to change the topic. They went on talking about all manner of other things for about an hour or so, until Adaine felt her crystal buzz in her pocket. She took it out to check it, failing to stop Aelwyn from leaning over her shoulder to look at it.

Fabian:

“Do you want to go to Basrar's?”

“Just you and me”

“Doesn't have to be Basrar's if you'd prefer something else”

Aelwyn laughed as Adaine felt her face heating up.

“Is that seriously all it takes to make you blush?”

“Shut up.” Adaine said, gently shoving her sister.

Although, as annoying as she was, Aelwyn was somewhat right. It honestly was sort of embarrassing how easily the thought of one-on-one time with Fabian flustered and excited her. She cursed her dumb teen hormones as she replied to his text.

“Basrar's sounds great, meet you there in half an hour?”

Fabian:

“Perfect”

She stood up from the sofa and started brushing the cat hair off her clothes.

“I better get going.”

“Mhm, wouldn't want to keep your boyfriend waiting, would you?” Aelwyn taunted.

Adaine shot her an annoyed look and started walking towards the door. Aelwyn got up and followed, pulling her into a hug.

“Have fun. But you know, if he breaks your heart I'll ruin his life.”

“I'm sure you will.” Adaine sighed. “Nevertheless, thank you I guess. See you next week.”

She stepped out of the apartment, waving goodbye to Aelwyn as she closed the door behind her and started the long walk to Basrar's.
