I am thinking about UK Marvin being the only one who actually apologises for Marvin Hits Trina? Like, OBC Marvin, Revival Marvin, neither of them actually apologise. But UK Marvin literally fucking stumbles over his own feet trying to comfort Trina once he realises what he’s done.  OBC Marvin doesn’t have a verbal response, as far as I can tell, Revival Marvin has his like “you know i’d never...” bullshit, but UK Marvin? His immediate, immediate response is “I’m so sorry. Trina, I’m sorry....I’m sorry.”

And like. He says the “I’m so sorry” before Mendel even pushes him away. He’s still standing there in front of her, and you can see him recoil as he processes what he’s done, and then he apologises, and then Mendel pushes him away. And Marvin’s immediate response is to try and comfort her, he’s got his hand out and he tries to walk back over to her, but when she is obviously uncomfortable (shouting, stepping towards him) he backs away, no question, no argument, he just takes like three steps back and that final “I’m sorry” is a fucking whisper and his voice is breaking, he’s audibly horrified and shaken by what he’s just done. 

And that contrasts incredibly well with how he interacts with Whizzer after the chess game. When he gets violent with Whizzer, and Whizzer backs away from him when he tries to apologise, Marvin sees that as an affront and reacts by doubling down on his anger. But when he tries to apologise to Trina and she backs away, he catches himself at the last second and also backs away and gives her space. And I’m just. He remembered how Whizzer reacted and he learned from it and so he acted differently and I’m just. Going wild. 

Daniel Boys Marvin supremacy, UKsettos fit so much character development into this man and I am grateful for it every day of my life.
