actively following the homemaker tag just gives me an easy free block list apparently.
if you see this and are a lgbtqia friendly and non-christian homemaking or homesteading or cottagecore blog, please interact in some way. my dash is in desperate need of good content.

Hestiacore
Although I sometimes use tradfem tags on my posts, I don't identify with that community. In fact, when I first got into tradblr a few years ago, I misunderstood what it meant, and I realize now that I definitely do not agree with the majority of tradfems. I am traditional in some ways, but I am not religious, and I don't think a woman's "place" is in the home. Many tradfems are bigoted people who I don’t want to be associated with.
Forever ago, @domestic-housebunny made a post about a new aesthetic / movement / community she wanted to create, called familycore. I love this idea, but the tags are kind of bare, and I kind of want to make my own thing.
So I now present to you: Hestiacore.
Hestia was the Greek goddess of the hearth and home. She represented domesticity. Hestiacore combines the aesthetics of cottagecore, grandmacore, familycore, and probably some others.
Hestiacore is for people who want a simple life. It’s for people who dream of being married or having a family. It's for people who want to have a farm. It’s for people who often find themselves scrolling through tradfem blogs for the aesthetics, while disagreeing with the politics.
Tumblr media
Hestiacore is:
- appreciating nature and attempting to be self-sustaining
- emphasizing the importance of family
- supporting mothers
- emphasizing healthy, loving relationships
- finding beauty in the ordinary
Hestiacore is NOT:
- supporting sexist ideas such as "women should submit to their husbands" or that women are inferior to men in any way
- believing all women should be feminine
- homophobic
- associated with any particular religion
Tumblr media
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, give this post a like or reblog so we can become mutuals! I will be tracking the tag #hestiacore to keep up with this new community.

Hello! I just came (lol) to say that I love all your fics and look forward to all possible continuations and alternative stories! I saw you want to write shitton of a/b/o alternatives and I'm so curion to read ALL of them! Also waiting for switch (such a monster fic, love every letter of it tho) or Christmas chaos (ughhh such a mature familycore) or any new stories that may be born in your head, by the way, are you planning fics based on the canon universe? Use something like lost girls ova or 4koma plots?
Thanks bb!! I'm glad u like them lol!! My little chaos fics! SWITCH IS A MONSTER FIC FOR SO MANY REASONS, WORD COUNT AND CHAOS WISE IT IS THE STUFF OF NIGHTMARES !! 🥰 As far as canon fics go, not really, altho I've definitely contemplated and like written many drafts of a possible cabin AU i'm not sure if it'll ever come to fruition. However, I do have a fascination with the idea of mean dom Captain Eren and I've written some for him on my dark blog, so u never know maybe one day on AO3 he will be there 😂😂 but otherwise i don't usually fuck with canon, just bc plot wise i find it a pain in the ass and kind of constricting to write for if u have to keep in the confines of canon !

traditionalbunny -> domestic-housebunny
I’m no longer considering myself “trad”. If you’re trad, you can still interact with me and, until more of the community I’m hoping to start come up, I’ll still be interacting with trad blogs.
wait... what community are you trying to start?
I’m trying to start an alternative to the trad community. Something more gender neutral, more friendly to views other than biblical and conservative views, something automatically accepting of lgbtq+ people like myself, something more welcoming of poc/poc friendly, something that is more supportive of feminists (not talking about terfs or swerfs) and, speaking of swerfs, something more sex positive. I want to officially call it “familycore/famblr”.
what would familycore/famblr be about?
Think trad without the associations with white supremacy, racism, sexism, religion and extreme conservatism. Think kids and parenting tips, recipes, gardening tips, cleaning tips, self-care/feminine, non-binary or masculine-specific posts, a love for vintage things without a love for the problematic society at the time, promotion of a healthy and happy family unit (whatever that looks like for you), and more.
so...do you not share any ideas with the trad community anymore?
I mean, I do, to some degree, but they will only apply to me personally because it will be what works for me and my partner. The difference, I think, that will make me familycore more so than trad is me believing it is a personal choice and preference who takes on what roles/jobs/responsibilities rather than just a given based on how I identify when it comes to my gender. If you think that too, then maybe you aren’t as strictly traditional as you thought.
any questions?

does it mean conservatives can't be apart of family core? I can promise you i'm not racist Im not even white. is it mostly just wanting/having a family?
Have your views, I don’t care what your political views are as long as that isn’t what your blog is about. That goes for liberals as well. If someone posts mainly politics, then that’s a political blog, not lovecore or familycore or whatever core one may claim to be. And that’s on period. I’d like to point out though that one can be discriminatory and not be white. Lastly, as per the original post:
Think trad without the associations with white supremacy, racism, sexism, religion and extreme conservatism. Think kids and parenting tips, recipes, gardening tips, cleaning tips, self-care/feminine, non-binary or masculine-specific posts, a love for vintage things without a love for the problematic society at the time, promotion of a healthy and happy family unit (whatever that looks like for you), and more.

Note
Why are you calling it family core when cottagecore already exists and serves the purposes you want?
Uh.... hm. I... disagree. How you see cottagecore and how I see cottagecore must be very different things. I didn’t know exactly how to word it, but this is cottagecore (three separate links there). This would be familycore:
“Think trad without the associations with white supremacy, racism, sexism, religion and extreme conservatism. Think kids and parenting tips, recipes, gardening tips, cleaning tips, self-care/feminine, non-binary or masculine-specific posts, a love for vintage things without a love for the problematic society at the time, promotion of a healthy and happy family unit (whatever that looks like for you), and more.”
Now, how do you see these as synonymous? They may be related sometimes as far as aesthetics, but saying they service the same audience? I don’t think they do. Even so, if I want to make an aesthetic/blog type/label that fits my needs that I can call myself, considering this is my blog, I should be able to do so. If pixielocks can do it, why can’t I?
Thanks for the inquiry, anon.

Is it okay to follow/reblog from you if I’m still part of the trad community? I keep my blog discourse-free, no politics or hatred or anything like that, just pretty much what you described familycore as.
Yes! I personally don’t mind or care if you follow and interact and are trad.
