I love that Fantastic Four: Grand Design puts the characters in these color-coded space suits. It’s kind of 戦隊/Power Rangers-coded.

Tom Scioli, Grand Design. Shared on his IG. Mondrian idea is cool - makes me wish they had different color costumes... though I guess they do? Maybe it boils down to would Sue look good in yellow.
Love his Doom - maybe Scioli channels Kirby better than any other artist going.

RMS Titanic Linoleum Tiles CC
I've always been obsessed with the RMS Titanic and its two sister ships, the Olympic and Britannic. Many people are unaware that the fantastic tiles found throughout the ships were in fact linoleum for reasons relating to practicality. Here are four lino swatches based on original designs found on both the Titanic and Olympic - there are many more swatches that I'd love to add in the future, so please do watch this space!
The swatches include:
First Class Private Baths
First Class Dining Saloon
First Class Smoking Room
Grand Staircase**
Download (SFS No Adfly)
** Grand Staircase tiles are due to be updated as the pattern repeats too often. They do still look great, though.

disney descendants - but add TATTOOS
the Docks house the majority of the tattoo trade on the Isle, so the Sea Three grow up treating tattoos more casually while they've got more of a rebellious vibe for VKs living inland, like the Core Four.
to the VKs on the docks, tattoos most often serve as a show of ownership or as self expression.
for the Core Four and AKs, I imagine it's more common to see tattoos as individual pieces of art.
there's a lot of blurring that line, but seeing tattoos as self expression vs art can carry a lot into both how a person perceives tattoos in general and how they tend to design and place their tattoos.
Jay shows up at the Dragon's Den one day with a large, traditional, fully shaded, badass cobra curling around his bicep.
Evie and Carlos are fascinated but also a bit uncomfortable.
Mal immediately feels challenged, artistically, and starts designing a badass dragon design that she wants to get on her back someday.
Evie and Carlos don't get tattoos until years later, when they're in Auradon and comfortable in their own skin and are able to go to a nice, clean, entirely above-the-board tattoo studio.
Evie gets a little crown on her ankle.
Carlos ends up getting a number of random, small designs over time. Jane's name, a silhouette of Dude, the date that he last saw his mother (the date from when he's been free).
Evie gets a second tattoo eventually, on a dare, and gets a small ruler design on her wrist that's perfect for helping measure hems and edges for her projects.
Mal waits until getting settled in Auradon, too - first because she doesn't trust the skill of the tattoo artists on the Isle to do it "right," and then because she doesn't think her tattoo would be viewed as appropriate for the future Queen of Auradon.
once everything has settled out post-D3, though, and she's confident in her skin she brings it up with Ben (because having the Sea Three around is making her remember how much she really wants to get a tattoo, not that she'd ever admit to that).
Ben totally supports her and she gets a fantastical dragon across her back, painstakingly done by one of the finest artisans in Auradon.
Harry started tattooing himself when he was a kid, messing around with stick-and-poke techniques he saw the older kids using.
they didn't have great ink and stick-and-pokes usually fade pretty fast anyway, even faster when you're constantly in the sun, so he had a lot of fun with the canvas of his hands, arms, and thighs and did a lot of experimentation.
once he and Gil got closer, Harry did a lot of small designs on Gil when he was bored.
Uma got the first real tattoo of all of them.
she showed up at one of the tattoo shops dragging a bag full of tips and left several sessions later with a full sleeve of ocean waves crashing against a ship that was surrounded by tentacles.
she was pleased by how the artist had gotten it to look like the tentacles could either be pulling the ship to its doom or just giving it a hug.
Harry absolutely loved it and began going to get himself a new tattoo every time he scraped together enough tips and stolen coins.
a compass on the back of his hand; a dagger down his thigh; constellations dotting his arms; a menagerie growing one by one of seahorses and sharks and gulls.
he gets a traditional pinup on his hip; a grand, proper pirate's ship on one knee and a kraken mirroring its style on the other; he has multiplication tables and other memorization tricks done on the inside of his wrists to help him on tests.
months after his first (and only) hesitant, respectful request, Uma lets him get her name tattooed as a tramp stamp.
she goes with him and directs the artist and he ends up with her name surrounded by tentacles; they're strategically positioned to curl around the letters but also draw the eye to where they disappear beneath his waistband.
Uma didn't get tattoos as often but they were always grand and befitting her rank as Captain.
she adhered religiously to her colors and aesthetic, creating a map of black, turquoise, cyan, and purple whirls and lines that made her look ever inch the magical being she should be.
Uma complemented the heavy linework with little skulls and bones, sea creatures, and rolling waves.
I've seen some people say that "Wharf Rats" is just an insult Carlos called the crew, but I like the headcanon that it's the actual name of Uma's crew and that everyone who joined up was required to get a tattoo as a promise of loyalty.
Harry totally designed it himself.
Uma and Harry have the largest versions of it, so they added some extra detail and flare to theirs. Uma's on her chest and Harry's across his upper back.
most of the crew have theirs on a bicep but Gil got his on the back of his neck.
Gil didn't get any ink until he came back to the Docks and joined the crew.
once he was back, though, he tagged along and got something done every time Uma or Harry went.
he liked to get Harry to help him come up with ideas for designs that would draw attention to his arms and muscles.
Gil got lots of flowers and plants and birds on his arms, eventually tying the designs together into full sleeves.
Uma and Harry would roll their eyes but loved how badass Gil could manage to make a bunch of flowers.
colored tattoos were far less common than black linework and shading because it was much harder to come by substantial quantities of colorful ink on the Isle.
having his flowers colored made Gil's sleeves pop out and draw attention even more.
he got roaring waves and sharks and sea monsters on his back, pulling up into his Wharf Rats tattoo, with everything perfectly designed to flatter the flex of his shoulders and back.
on his trip around Auradon with Jay, Gil had a lot of fun getting a new tattoo in each kingdom, coloring in his chest with new kinds of flowers and filling up his legs with a variety of designs that reminded him of his favorite stops.
once she escaped the barrier and was restored access to her magic and heritage, Uma learned that her she could make her tattoos glow and reflect her natural magic.
she waited a long time for the day when she, Harry, and Gil were all free from the Isle and she was able to casually take her shirt off and enjoy Harry tripping on his feet and falling on his face at how extra stunning her tattoos were now.
Harry took advantage of the better resources for tattoos in Auradon and had his tattoos relined, as a lot of them were beginning to fade.
he had red lines and shading worked into the designs to give them an extra bit of pop, cohesiveness, and general Hook aesthetic.
for AKs, the most common tattoos were small and easy to hide, like significant others' names, important dates, and little minimalist designs.
Harry won a dare once and coerced Jay and several of Jay's tourney friends into going and getting larger, more artistic designs, though.
to Harry's surprise (and Uma and Gil's delight), some of Harry's first AK friends ended up being heirs from kingdoms like Matinui and DunBroch, with whom he bonded over tattoos after they approached him with admiration for his ink and for his opinions on design.
kingdom pride and fairytale tattoos are definitely a thing. an artist would have a lookbook with glass slippers and well known castles and glass covered roses.
just. TATTOOS guys.

Ok, I finished Life on Our Planet
Tumblr media
It was... loose. A bit disjointed.
The gimmick of this series was that the CGI footage of extinct animals was always paired with live action footage of modern animals to compare. Except, it was kind of stretch at times, ranging from "here is a modern relative of the extinct thing we showed you" to as vague as "uh, this thing lived in a desert so here's some footage of modern desert animals."
All the modern footage was great, none of it was stock like I feared, and hell some segments were more enjoyable than the ones featuring the dinosaurs! I loved those clumsy frogs. It is just a little disappointing that it takes up most of the screen time, with the extinct animals being only about a quarter of the whole show, with the remaining runtime being dedicated to footage of natural disasters or sped up landscapes as stand-ins for whatever global event Morgan Freeman is describing.
Tumblr media
The episode structure was really weird too. The first episode is just random things being thrown at the screen, seeming like a desperate hook to get you to keep watching but came off more as confusing nonsense than anything. The next four episodes follow a chronological order of the Cambrian to the end of the Cretaceous, but then the next two buck the trend and focus on the evolution of birds and mammals respectively, until it goes back to chronological with the final episode being from the Ice Age to today.
The narration is also ridiculously overdramatic, constantly painting evolution like a grand war and clades of animals as armies in an escalating battle. My favorite example being Morgan Freeman calling grass an "invader" that the mammals had to conquer in order to consume. It again adds to the confusion, I can just feel all the information given slipping from my brain as it's too fluffed up with melodrama to present any solid facts and the evidence backing them up.
Tumblr media
The CGI segments, the draw of the show, were beautiful with some stellar designs and animations, but suffered the same short fallings of all of these documentaries. Showing the live action segments made the problem even worse in my eyes, as you call tell it was two different teams providing the footage. The modern animals are shot from so many amazing angles, top of the line photography creates such a dynamism that really engrosses you in their little worlds. Meanwhile, the CGI dinosaurs stand around flat locals, always shown from the same general height, never too intense with the lighting or shadows, and overall just a little bit more boring.
This is especially true for the behaviors. In the real footage, we see animals be clumsy and playful and pathetic and all around... real! Animals have so many different behaviors and we get to see everything ranging from Ant raiding parties to Eagles snatching bats out of the air to whales racing, but with the CGI segments it is all the same chase scenes and predators attacking prey that we've seen a million times before. It just doesn't feel creative, especially compared to the wonderful ways Prehistoric Planet experimented with dinosaur behaviors just last year.
Tumblr media
Overall it isn't bad, I liked a lot about it, it's cool that we got a series narrated by the amazing Morgan Freeman and since it's on Netflix instead of Apple TV this will be much more accessible than PhP. The CGI is fantastic, the designs are great, it's wonderful seeing a mix of old fan favorites and new species that haven't had much of a spotlight before, and I legitimately love some segments. The Cameroceras in the storm, the Arthropleura mating dance, the Smilodon messing with the Doedicurus, etc. I think there is enough here to be worth a watch. I just... was hoping for something a bit more cohesive.

Design Deep-Dive #7: Lands Week - Utility Lands
It's important to remember that lands can provide interesting payoffs aside from color-fixing. This set will include four utility lands to reinforce specific sub-themes, such as sacrifice, Inspire/Bards, and spellslinging Wizards!
Crestfall Catacombs
Tumblr media
The Unwell Kingdom features several sacrifice payoffs in black designed to play off different colors in unique ways -- red likes attacking aggressively and reanimating, green creates armies of token fodder, and white looks to shave creatures off both sides of the board (blue has other plans). Crestfall Catacombs adds direct damage to each of these engines, giving them a way to go over the top and potentially sneak out a win!
Amphitheatre
Tumblr media
(As a side note, here's a peek at the prototype layout for these cards, before their effects are all nailed down and they get their own art. As a general game design rule, never let form get in the way of function during the early iteration phase!)
Bards play better to a crowd! Amphitheatre allows any deck to start pumping out Inspiration tokens, though it's obviously better once you play a couple of Bard creatures, which are almost exclusively in red.
Tower of Secrets
Tumblr media
As mentioned in the Tri-Lands breakdown, blue/red is one of the color pairs that's less likely to be covered by a three-color land in this set. That may seem like bad news for the spellslinging Wizards theme, but they have to special lands that should more than make up for it!
Tower of Secrets is a wacky land... It doesn't actually tap for mana, but it turns all of your Wizards into limited mana dorks, and can conveniently make Wizard tokens to snowball in a late-game grind! This card is probably a bit too strong in its current state, based on recent playtests. The Wizard-creating ability will probably need to go up in cost, or the Wizard will need to come in tapped. But the overall effect will stay intact as a fantastic signpost card!
The Painted Wastes // The Unseen Library
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The final utility land is a two-sided card that asks you to supply your own Wizards to make it worth your while! Once you get enough discount to justify the cost to transform The Painted Wastes (or even if you're willing to pay the full 5 mana plus a tap), it becomes an extremely potent multicolor land. The Unseen Library can tap for two mana of any colors, so long as they're different, and it even gives your Wizards a bit of protection via Ward
In our story, the Unseen Library was the secret sanctuary of wizards out in the iridescent desert canyons known as the Painted Wastes! The Tower of Secrets is technically part of this grand library, though it holds a special significance. But that's a story for another day....
Only one day left for Lands week! You've seen all the unique, new lands included in the Unwell Kingdom, from tri-lands and the many shades of the Illusroy Palace, to powerful mono-color effects and support for various themes. There are, of course, five absolutely crucial lands to go:

182 Days of TPN - Day 66
Chapter 66: “The Forbidden Game, Part 1”
Ooohoho boy, here they come. Their designs are a hundred times better than any wild, enemy demon shown in season two.
Tumblr media
Did Emma’s possession of the pen not already make it clear that she was unlike the other kids? Or the fact that she was dropped off here alone? And I know it’s not visible most of the time with the shelter jacket & turtleneck, but surely catching a glimpse of Emma’s ID on her neck would help prove she’s not one of the usual Grand Valley kids.
Tumblr media
Normal people would usually run in the opposite direction if they heard a scream. Clearly, our girl doesn’t fall into that category and I mean that in the most sincere way possible.
Tumblr media
These poor Grand Valley kids getting quite a rude awaken to what kind of world they’re living in by being hunted by demons. It’s like getting shipped straight to your death from Grace Field almost seems less troublesome than fighting for your life every three days for years on end.
Tumblr media
It’s not gonna be the last time we hear prey get a ten second head start. But yeah, I must really be blind if I’m only noticing now that Luce has four arms. I wanna say I must’ve noticed it sometime before and perhaps I just forgot, but I really dunno.
Tumblr media
I did question why the face of one of Luce’s assistants was all messed up in other panels, but it seems I got my answer as it was Monica who managed to cause some damage. Now that’s something I have no memory of. Good for her!
Tumblr media
When you’re so boring that the most dangerous poacher actually ends up letting you go instead. Quite some luck you have there, Johnny. (unfortunately it doesn’t last the whole story.)
Tumblr media
Aahha, she is so quick to act! Kinda impressive how no one even realized she was running towards them until this moment either.
Tumblr media
This! Literally all of this is fantastic! The damn accuracy she has even during a spur of the moment decision and how she would’ve definitely killed Luce if Leuvis didn’t step in to catch the axe with this skinny, chopstick-looking fingers. (S2 denied us of many things but at least we got this stunning animatic from Note to swoon over.)
Tumblr media
Her mind is going a mile a minute and she still manages to look to the bright side of things despite the very dangerous situation she got thrown into.
Tumblr media
He’s a complete psycho, but I’ll be damned, he does make for a real threatening antagonist (not the best in my mind, of course, but still way up there, like second). I actually had him in my top ten once upon a time, but switched him out with Oliver last minute.
Tumblr media
Favorite panel/moment:
I can’t remember exactly who on here said way back whenever how these panels show more character development for Emma than all of season two, but YES. Absolutely true!

Dragon Ball Super 031
Tumblr media
When Jaco and Bulma team up, anything could happen!   (Narrator: Nothing happened.)
Tumblr media
Let’s try to go over Bulma’s plan here.  The upcoming Destroyer Invitational Tournament will decide who gets control over the Super Dragon Balls.  If Champa wins, he plans to wish for the Earth of Universe 7 to switch places with the dead Earth of Universe 6.  If Beerus wins... who knows?  But Bulma doesn’t want to find out.  Since Champa is the God of Destruction from U6, Bulma believes that there’s a second set of Super Dragon Balls in Universe 7.  So she aims to track them down and use them to undo any destructive wishes Beerus or Champa might have in mind.
To do this, she needs a radar powerful enough to detect the Super Dragon Balls, and she also needs to take it to the center of the universe, where she can use the radar’s range will be as effective as possible.  So she calls in Jaco to take her there.  Except Jaco works for the Galactic Patrol.  Their ships aren’t designed to cover the vast distances from one galaxy to another.  They only operate inside of the one galaxy they’re in.
Okay, a couple things.  First, I like that this detail is acknowledged in the story.  A lot of sci-fi/space fantasy franchises fail to recognize just how big space is.  Well, specifically, I’m thinking of DC and Marvel Comics.  The Green Lantern Corps divided the universe into 3600 sectors, then assigned a handful of GL’s to patrol each one, and somehow seven or eight of them always wind up sticking close to one planet in one galaxy in one sector.   If I remember right, their headquarters is located at the center of the universe, and Hal Jordan just zips back and forth like it’s no big deal. He also constantly runs into colleagues from other sectors, but, again, space is huge.  Aside from staff meetings on Oa, you would expect him to live out his entire lifespan without ever seeing a Green Lantern from another space sector.  Meanwhile, all of Marvel’s big intergalactic powers rule over entire galaxies.  The Skrulls have the Andromeda Galaxy, and the Kree have theirs and the Shi’ar have theirs.  I’ve lost track of all that lore, so maybe Marvel introduced some shitty new aliens called the Dipshittors to build on that concept, but the point is that the Avengers and Fantastic Four will just fly out to fight those guys whenever it’s convenient.
Star Trek and Star Wars get it right, because those stories take place in one galaxy.  There’s like one episode where the Enterprise went to another galaxy and it was this insane thing that happened.  Maybe the new shows play with that idea more, but fuck the new Trek shows.  Scott Bakula’s dog can kiss my ass.  The point is that because those shows are confined to one galaxy, they don’t spent a lot of time talking about how impractical it is to go to a different galaxy.  It just never gets brought up.
But that leads me to my second thing I want to talk about: Jaco seems to imply that Universe 7 is a lot bigger than we’ve heard in the past.  Maybe it’s just the dub, and I’m in no mood to go back and check the subtitles, but he talks about the multitudes of other galaxies in the universe, and how unbelievably far away it all is, and I feel like that conflicts with the cozy four-galaxy scenario introduced in Dragon Ball Z.   Earth is in the North Galaxy, overseen by the King Kai of the North, while the East, South, and West Galaxies are overseen by their own King Kais.
Then again, I’m not sure how that was all established.  It comes up in the original Broly movie, which is mostly set in the South Galaxy, which all of the characters are able to reach without much trouble.  It also comes up in the Otherworld Tournament arc, because they have to explain who the other three Kais are.
But I don’t know that it gets much play in the original manga.  Like, South Kai appears in the manga, and the Grand Kai is mentioned, and Kid Buu’s origin story refers to other Supreme Kais who used to work alongside Shin.  But I’d have to check to see if there’s any mention of just four galaxies.  Maybe it’s a Toei invention.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Jaco suggests an alternative: Visit the world of Master Zuno and ask him about the Super Dragon Balls.  I don’t see how that solves anything, though.  Zuno’s gimmick is that he knows everything, and he certainly seems to know everything, but even if he tells Bulma exactly where the Super Dragon Balls are, they could still lie far beyond the North Galaxy, and so they’re completely out of her reach.   Also, the SBD’s are the size of planets.  How was she planning to gather them all together?
Tumblr media
Now, most of this episode is Jaco making cracks about Bulma’s age, and Bulma beating the absolute shit out of him for it.  Also, he tries to turn the tables on her by accelerating his ship really fast, but he winds up making himself nauseous as well.  They seem to utterly despise one another, and it’s not much fun watching them interact.
Tumblr media
I mean, for all intents and purposes, this episode is a direct sequel to the Jaco manga.  There’s even a flashback to the chapter where Jaco met Bulma, and she repaired his ship and flew it around Professor Omori’s island.
Tumblr media
But the Jaco in that story was a lot more calm and collected, more of a detached observer of humanity.  We see him here freaking out about Tights’ little sister joyriding in his ship, but I’m pretty sure he was only mildly irritated about it in the manga.  The most upset Jaco ever got in the manga was whenever that police sketch came up.
Tumblr media
But now, in Dragon Ball Super, he’s become this cowardly little twerp.  At the beginning of this episode, he vents his frustrations with a little target practice, and accidentally destroys a space monument, which he tries to pin on a wanted fugitive in the area.  And that seems authentic for Jaco, but when he gets to Earth, all he does is try to find some excuse to leave, and when that doesn’t work he trades barbs with Bulma and lets her whoop his ass.
Tumblr media
Which is a shame, because there was something much more humanist about the original Jaco story.  It was about how the characters grew after working together and helping one another.  Jaco’s kind of a dick, and Omori was kind of a bitter misanthrope, but they still cared about one another because their better nature overcame their anti-social tendencies.
This episode might have tried to hearken back to that theme, but it just doesn’t happen.  When they get to Zuno’s planet, Bulma and Jaco discover there’s a seven year waiting list just to ask Zuno a question.  Then they see this red frog dude show up for his appointment, and Jaco recognizes him as the crook he heard about earlier.
So Jaco has a choice to make.  If he arrests this guy, he can open a spot on Zuno’s schedule and skip to the front of the line.  However, bringing in this frog guy might expose his lie about the destruction of that space monument.  On the other hand, the frog dude recognizes Jaco as a space cop, but he’s waited seven years for this appointment, and he decides to just play it cool and hope Jaco doesn’t recognize him.
Tumblr media
And Jaco... lets him go.  The frog dude was wanted for dine-and-dash crimes, so it’s not like he’s a violent offender or anything.  In fact, the reason he came to this planet was to ask Zuno how to dine-and-dash without getting caught.  That’s how into dine-and-dash this guy is.  For all his bluster, Jaco isn’t a model patrolman, and besides, this is his day off.  And Bulma’s mission is her problem, not his, so he doesn’t want to risk getting in trouble with his superiors over this.
But then Bulma tells him they’ll just have to go home and take their chances on Beerus’ wish, and that spurs him into action.
Tumblr media
Frog dude tries to take a hostage, but Jaco defeats him with ease, and Zuno’s attendants give him an immediate audience with Zuno out of gratitude.  This s basically the climax of the episode, and it’s presented like some character developing moment for Jaco, except... it really doesn’t work.  Maybe he took action because he didn’t like the idea of letting Bulma down, or he couldn’t stand the thought of failing a mission, or something like that.  But it looks more like he was more frightened of Beerus using the Super Dragon Balls than he was of getting in trouble at work.   And that’s not much of a conflict to build your story around.
Tumblr media
As for Zuno, well, he’s another alien like his attendants, only he has an even bigger head.  You have to kiss him before he’ll answer your questions.  Since Jaco’s a man, Zuno only gives him one question.  Jaco wastes it on a pointless demonstration.  He asks Zuno what Bulma’s bust size is, and he not only gives and answer, but extrapolates what Bulma’s bust size used to be before she got older.   He should have asked why the animators keep drawing Bulma’s blue jeans so weird in every episode.
Tumblr media
As for Bulma, she gets three questions, because she’s a lady, and Zuno is horny, I guess.  So this is just the same gag they used thirty years ago with Master Roshi.  Bulma wastes a question asking if Zuno will answer her questions.  Then she asks him to tell her about the Super Dragon Balls, and when he’s finished, she summarizes it all and asks if she got it right, and Zuno counts that as her third question.    Bulma offers to kiss him some more, but her time is up.
Tumblr media
So the only useful information that came out of the whole trip was this: There’s only one set of Super Dragon Balls, which are scattered across Universes 6 and 7.  So Bulma’s plan was doomed from the start, because Champa already has most of the one set secured, and there’s no other SDB’s out there to use.  This also means that Champa must have been trespassing into Universe 7 to collect the SDB’s, since at least some of them must have been there.  But that hardly matters, since we already knew Champa had been lurking around behind the scenes.   We saw him destroy a planet, and then Beerus ran into him during the Golden Frieza battle.  Also, Beerus doesn’t care, since he plans to win the Super Dragon Balls in this tournament anyway.
Tumblr media
So this was all a pointless aside.  I guess this shot of Goku copping a squat with Jaco is kind of neat.  They didn’t interact much during the Res F stuff, so this is the first indication that they’ve met.
Tumblr media
Also, Bulma gives Jaco some dairy products for the road, so I guess they don’t hate each other that much.
Tumblr media
Oh, and this is the episode where Goku and Vegeta talk about how they like their feisty, feisty wives, and Vegeta says it’s because Saiyans are genetically predisposed to this.  And Piccolo’s astonished to hear this, and I really don’t know why he, of all people, would care.

Early live action adaptations of Marvel Super villains
So we all know about the big and small screen marvel villains:Your Tom Hiddleston as Lokis ,your Ian Mckellens as Magnetos, your Willem Dafoe Green Goblins....I wanted to see who were the earliest Marvel villains adapted into live action .
Some of these I have seen some I havent .
Rule-
1.Live action villains only
2.Cutoff is 1999,only 20th century baddies here
3.Only villains from the comics ....Though I do have two honurable mentions
Jessica Walter as Morgan Le Fey-Doctor Strange (Still havent seen this but yeah turns out she is the first live action version of a marvel super villain)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John Rhyse Davies as Kingpin -TRial of the Incredible Hulk (A good Kingpin ,goes more for the mastermind side but lacking the imposingness of later versions. Not my favorite Kingpin but John Rhyse Davis is a magnificent actor )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scott Paulin as Red Skull -Captain America (SCott Paulin is great here ,he is a menacing presence and I love his initial design.....Let down by the "Plastic surgery look" he has the ret of the film, also cause the film is bad )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joseph Culp as Doctor Doom -Fantastic Four (DEspite the fact his voice is muffled alot so its hard to understand him,I like how faithful the costume ,I dig the grand gesturing and I love how jovial he is ,hes always laughing bout something ,I think he is my fave of the early Marvel movie villains )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sandra Hess as Andrea Von Strucker /VIper(Combined into one character ),and Peter Haworth as Arnim Zola -Nick Fury (Apparently Baron Von Strucker and Wener Von Stucker are in it too but I couldnt find images. Also I've never finished this movie )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stephen Dorff as DEacon Frost -Blade (DOnt know anything bout his comic counterpart......But I love the movie version of this guy.Love this asshole )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in the "I dont know if this counts "honourable mentions
Brian Thompson as Kabal/Baron Mordo -Doctor Mordrid (SO I have heard from various sources this was either going to be a Doctor Strange movie OR it was inspired by Doctor Strange, either way ,Kabal is a clear stand in for Baron Mordo .Either way film is pretty fun and Brian Thompson is a fun villain )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ian Trigger as the Jeweler/Mole Man-Fantastic Four (This I know for a fact was supposed to be the Mole Man.....But Marvel wouldnt let them use the Mole Man ,so they just called him something else .I do like Ian Triggers performjance, but I feel like they shouldve cut him out OR made him the main villain )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I might do this for 20th century villain DC villains,I dunno this was fun
Do any of you have thoughts on these early Marvel Movie villains?Feel free to share your thoughts

What's a Grand Design and what's it got to do with comics? Well it's a creator takes a property and makes a single (fine, maybe two or three) issue(s) comic covering the entire history of them. So here I did the jokey version starring an (offpanel) Dave working on a new project.
Based on the stats I found, the Beano has been on the go for 84 years. So doing some maths, dropping an issue a week, that's somewhere around 4300 plus issues by today's reckoning. Add in about 219 different strips across the years, that'd be a big project regardless who undertakes it...
Actual Grand Design comics are the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Incredible Hulk Grand Designs. Also there's a couple of unofficial ones kicking around inclyding an Image Comics one. Fascinating reads.

Meet Cyclops's New Nemesis, Doctor Stasis!
Tumblr media
Doctor Stasis is the overarching antagonist for the first year of Gerry Duggan and Pepe Larraz's X-Men. Doctor Stasis is a member of the anti-mutant organization Orchis with a penchant for macabre genetic experiments. He is also Nathaniel Essex, but he is not Mister Sinister. He is a different Nathaniel Essex. Doctor Stasis is the first of three additional Essexs to be revealed. All of whom are represented by their own French suit, the kind you find in a deck of playing cards.
Tumblr media
The backstory behind the various Essexs is as follows. In the late 19th century, Doctor Nathaniel Essex envisioned four routes to triumph over machine dominance. Those routes were as follows: The Cosmic Powers, Post-Humanity, Magic, and Mutants. For these four routes, he created four clones, each marked by a French suit on their foreheads. In Essex’s eyes, the clones were in competition, survival of the fittest. The winner he hoped would allow him to ascend to godhood.
Doctor Stasis is the clone with the suit of clubs on his forehead. He is the route of Post-Humanity. Stasis believes in artificially improving human bodies through genetic experiments. Stasis views the rise of Krakoa and mutants as a threat to humanity and his long-term goal of immortality. In his mind, Mutants are a cancer that must be excised from the earth if humanity is ever to ascend.
Tumblr media
In the first year of Duggan's X-Men, Doctor Stasis plans on exposing the secret of mutant resurrection. He wants the X-Men to attempt to suppress the story so Orchis can reveal that mutants took action against the freedom of the press, turning public sentiment against Mutantdom.
Part of Doctor Stasis’s plan was to kill and collect a sample from Cyclops and run tests to see if it was a clone or if the mutants had truly conquered death. Once Cyclops was resurrected, he and fellow X-Men Synch hunted down Stasis where they learned he was actually a version of Nathanial Essex. Even though Stasis escaped, his plans were still foiled when Cyclops revealed the truth of mutant resurrection to reporter Ben Urich instead of suppressing the story as Stasis had hoped.
Doctor Stasis has the potential to be a nemesis for Cyclops. Mister Sinister has long haunted the Summers bloodline but recently expanded beyond that to greater machinations. Doctor Stasis is representative of a specter that has haunted Scott Summers his entire life.
Stasis’s angle of Post-Humanity is a novel take on Sinister. Mister Sinister views Mutants as tools to be used in his grand design. However, Doctor Stasis is repulsed by Mutants and is disgusted at the idea of them existing on the same planet as him. Sinister wants to use Mutants, Doctor Stasis wants to eradicate Mutants.
Another thing Doctor Stasis has going for him is his design. Pepe Larraz is one of the most talented artists working in comics today. Larraz has created so many instantly iconic designs, Doctor Stasis among them. I'd also like to note that Stasis has a cane sword. You can never go wrong with a cane sword.
Doctor Stasis is a fantastic new addition to the X-Men’s rogues gallery. He has a killer design and a great narrative hook. He is an antagonist for Cyclops that harkens back to the character's past. Doctor Stasis is ripe with potential and represents an exciting development for the franchise.

Las Vegas track good for racing not the most exciting to drive Russell | 2023 F1 season
George Russell predicts Formula 1’s new circuit in Las Vegas will produce exciting racing but won’t be the most satisfying for drivers to compete on. The new Las Vegas street circuit features several long straights and multiple corners which are likely to be tackled flat-out. Since it was revealed in March, organisers have added an extra complex of corners, turns seven to nine, breaking up what was previously a continuous 180-degree bend. Although Russell expects the final layout to be very quick, he isn’t convinced it will be a particularly challenging circuit for drivers. “It’s never simple driving a Formula 1 car around a circuit that’s as fast as this,” the Mercedes driver told a crowd at a launch event in the city last weekend. “I don’t think this is going to probably be the most exciting one to drive. Gallery: 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix launch “But for you guys watching I feel like this race is designed for good racing, for overtakes, good racing, entertainment. And I think the Sunday for us is going to be super-exciting. But to be honest, I don’t really care as long as we’re at the front.” New details of the 17-turn, 6.1-kilometre were revealed as tickets went on sale for the 2023 race last week, including the configuration of its pit lane. Drivers will have to negotiate a chicane on the inside of the fast turn 17 as they make their way into the pits. The pit lane exit will blend in as drivers move from the right-hand-side of the track to the left as they transition between turns two and three. Las Vegas is one of three US rounds on the 2023 F1 calendar, joining this year’s new race in Miami and the United States Grand Prix in Austin, which was first held in 2012. When you think back here, only three or four years ago, there was one race and it wasn’t sure if it [would] continue. Now we’ve got three very solid races, so I think it’s in a good way in the United States.” Las Vegas Formula 1 street circuit tack map – November 2022 revised layout Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free 2023 F1 season Browse all 2023 F1 season articles via RaceFans - Independent Motorsport Coverage https://www.racefans.net/

The Phantom Galaxy Stirs the Pot ~ 2 Sep 2022
The Phantom Galaxy Stirs the Pot ~ 2 Sep 2022, Philip Sedgwick
The 74th entry in the Catalogue of Nebulae and Star Clusters (M-74), also known as the Phantom Galaxy, became less of an apparition recently as images appeared online of its spectacular spirals courtesy of the European Space Agency. This catalog noted above consisted of 110 objects compiled by Charles Messier in 1774 and as later amended, became known as the Messier Catalog.
Tumblr media
The Phantom Galaxy is a “grand design spiral” galaxy - a galaxy with well-defined arms that spin out from the galactic core. Following are two mandala-like images recently compiled with data from both the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes.

Why is it called the Phantom Galaxy? Simply, its surface brightness is low and it is better “viewed” in non visible light spectrums. Most likely the core of the galaxy consists of an intermediate mass black hole; intermediate in this case meaning approximately 10K solar masses in size. This unconfirmed black hole goes by the designation CXOU J013651.1+154547.
For astrological purposes, where in the universe is this phantom thing? More or less approximating for precession, the Phantom Galaxy, though “seen” within the constellation Pisces by sidereal orientation, weighs in geocentrically at 28 Aries 28. Most will note that for all intents and purposes it now squares Pluto in Capricorn slightly more than two degrees from exactitude. Curiously, the lord of the underworld was infamous for his helmet of invisibility and its use. Certainly this spectacular galaxy’s image rendering reaches out to cause a collective gasp for all who view it... a powerful, transformation inspiring gasp.
Pluto precisely squares M-74 on 25 January 2023. In August 2023 he retrogrades through another square and in late November 2023, forms the final direct square to the Phantom.
Eris in Aries currently stands about four degrees from precise alignment to the galaxy. Starting in 2038 and running through 2042, she conjoins M-74 several times.
But why did this image suddenly make all the news feeds now and end up in online posts? How useful is all this galactic crap, anyway?
More notable in the present, Haumea stands across the sky from the Phantom Galaxy, seven arc minutes short of an exact opposition. She will next exactly oppose M-74 on 8 September - just days away! In the middle of July 2023, Haumea, after a brief stint in Scorpio, stations within a half degree of being opposite M-74 again.
Back in the day when serialized story content came over radio, the tagline, “The Phantom knows” frequently titillated the ears of listeners. We know that phantoms love to linger in the rafters of opera houses. But those are of fictional imaging. What reality can be derived now from this galactic awareness now?
In Hawaiian lore, Haumea was a prolific creation goddess. She birthed Pele and other deity revered in the islands. She could summon lava as she wished. She held a makalei stick, which, when she put it in the water, attracted fish to feed the people. Haumea possessed fantastical abilities to create whatever was needed.
In space, the dwarf planet Haumea holds two known moons in her orbit and she has several large bodies of ice that follow within her orbit. This symbolizes the guttural assessment of what individuals belong in your inner circle and which are better suited as members of an entourage.
For practical purposes, Haumea encourages unabated creative pursuit of all known inspiration, without the consideration of what others (the competition) may be doing. Further, creative pursuit(s), when in progress can only be reviewed by those in the inner circle known to be honest, no matter what. If fact, better not to seek a critique from those who love you. Better to hire a pro to give comprehensive notes on what you seek to birth in this world.
Or not. With Haumea in opposition to this wonderfully evocative galaxy in Aries, perhaps entering the head down, “do not disturb” self-reliant mode is the way to go. Get in there and do what your spirit years for you to do, even if, especially if, you don’t know where the money is going to come from to put your inspiration in play. If mental funk is in your way, go online and check out the wide array of pics of M-74. Select your favorite. Go to one of those “print your image” places and get a hard copy (images of space are not subject to copyright). Hang the image somewhere where you can use it as a mandala in your meditations or frequently glance at it while you work. That should stir the creativity centers within and start them spinning the right way.
Given Haumea stations near the M-74 opposition July 2023, should you have not seen movement on your soul-driven “gotta do it” objective, go for a review of your plan and your cost analysis to make it real.
Use the Pluto transits to deliver the end game. In January 2023 with Pluto square M-74, it’s a great time to work out the numbers for your grand scheme. Work out an opulent budget as well as an “if we had to trim a corner we could do it for this” budget. Following the Haumea review in July 2023, as Pluto squares M-74 in August 2023 why not put your hand out and ask those in the fiscal position to aide and abet your efforts to do just that? Since Pluto is retrograde, based upon your revised budget, that is. Then as November 2023 rolls around, your pre-production, pre-launch tasks could be in the rear view mirror and you’re now underway.
These are collective transits and contingent upon those consciously seeking to find out what it is the phantom actually knows. It will be crowded out there with new ideas and concepts. Those who have cultivated the greatest visibility through inclusion of all spectrums of awareness go the farthest.
What about when Eris gets to the conjunction with M-74 between 2038 and 2042? Nothing like looking ahead! I predict a major reenvisioning of that thing known as the Internet. Actually this will be based upon a gathering of souls simultaneously realizing that searching for soulful sustenance on this platform may not provide the level of inclusion anticipated. Being an influencer with billions of followers may leave a person empty, feeling void and used. Collectively the goal of Eris to M-74 is for people to realize what is real and what is merely phantasmic and to include themselves into the ultimate of perfect fit realities. And, oh by the way, to fulfill all soulful creative desires.
More soon.
Okay, so if you need a push for getting the creative juices going and lining up energy with action, it’s now time for a consultation. In the sessions I conduct I will include Eris and galactic effects of specific import to free up all levels of creativity. Maybe a block of consultations would make sense to order up. Or perhaps a Galactic Report or asking a question or two would do the trick. Whatever you need, click on the links that follow!
On the film front, both JACK OF ALL LANTERNS and METEORIC have been recently selected to multiple festivals. The festival selections will become more frequent as the fest season matures. There will be more film news soon! Feel free to check out the links to stay current and check screening times. More festival photos will be appearing before you know it.
