Some options for you:
Emmry, Mulled Wine
Helnik, Come All Ye Faithful
Thank you!
Tumblr media
Emma stood beside the window, looking out into the night. She could hear the sound of Mary talking and Dr. Foster’s low, delighted laugh drifting down the hall, the voices of the others harder to tell apart. She’d said she’d be along in a minute, uttering some nonsense that Mary nodded at before letting herself be led into the well-lit sitting room, her arm on Dr. Foster’s, his other hand at her waist, keeping her steady despite her lameness. Emma had wanted to be alone or so she told herself. She wanted something and being alone was something she could have.
“Emma?” Henry said, her name a question he must have asked a thousand times. How many times had he asked it lying sleepless in his bed, suffering over a sermon that he couldn’t write, muttered under his breath when he sat by a dying boy and there was no prayer he could remember? She’d never ask and he’d never tell.
“I’ve been here before,” she said, touching her fingers lightly to the windowpane. It was raining and the glass looked like it had been enchanted or she had drunk too deeply of the mulled wine Dr. Foster had poured out with a liberal hand. “Before Dr. Foster leased it for Mary, for Mrs. Foster, it was the Arden’s house. They had a ball and Georgianna had her mother get every last gardenia in Alexandria.”
“You miss it,” Henry said. He’d walked closer than she expected, standing near enough she could reach out and touch his cuff, as near as Dr. Foster stood to his wife, though without the doctor’s obvious eager fondness.
“It gave me a sick headache, all that perfume,” Emma said, frowning a little. “It was another world. I can’t go back, I wouldn’t, even if I could.”
“Still, you may miss it,” he said.
“It’s not what I want,” she said. “I didn’t want the mulled wine either, though I know Mary had it made for me, I’d mentioned it was something we used to have on these cold nights. It was costly, all the cinnamon and clove and Dr. Foster would only allow Bordeaux, and Mary would have served spiced cider or a rum punch if she hadn’t been thinking of me. I don’t want to be in ballroom, in a ballgown, and it isn’t that I envy Mary, she’s the dearest woman, the dearest friend—”
“She is,” Henry said. “She wouldn’t want you to be unhappy—”
“How can I be otherwise?” Emma exclaimed. “How can I be happy when everything is wrong and I don’t want what I have? When I can’t have what I want, when even wanting it is wrong?”
“I want you,” he said, shocking her into silence. He’d said it, the words hung between them, and he did not try to take them back or offer some explanation that would lessen them.
“You don’t—”
“I do,” he said, moving just that much closer, touching her hand where it lay on the window, then taking a finger and using it to lift her chin. “I want you, I want to taste the mulled wine on your lips. I want Jed to call out my name, Hopkins, not Henry, to remind me that I cannot take liberties, that’s he’s trusted me long enough and Mary is beginning to worry.”
“Henry—” she began, her voice uncertain, disconsolate. His hand moved to cup her cheek, his face moved closer to hers, so his lips were nearly touching hers. He held her gaze so she couldn’t bring herself to look away.
“Say it again. Like you know I’ll answer,” he said. “Like you know Mary should worry.”
“Henry,” she said, without the coquetry of a sigh, without anything but hope.
“Yes,” he said. And then he kissed her, the taste of the mulled wine all ginger and myrtle pepper on his lips, and distantly, Emma felt Mary worry and smile and squeeze Dr. Foster’s hand. No one called Henry’s name, nor her own, but someone, perhaps Miss Jenkins, began to sing “I Saw Three Ships” and the melody wound around her just as Henry pulled her into his arms.
*
“I’m not worried,” Mary said, her hands moving steadily, plaiting her unbound hair with a graceful rhythm Jed never tired of watching. “Now that they’ve declared themselves, they’ll find a way through.”
“You’re so sure he spoke, our diffident Reverend Hopkins? And that Miss Green answered in the affirmative?”
“I see you’re in a mood to jest,” Mary replied. “As if anyone could wonder, seeing their faces—”
“I will admit we might have put out every candle and still had the house bright as noon,” Jed said, smiling himself in memory. “I could have operated on Sergeant McFarland’s orbital fracture far more efficiently if Henry had only proposed a bit sooner while Miss Green assisted on the surgery.”
“And Henry isn’t diffident, he’s got a New Englander’s proper reticence. You mightn’t be expected to recognize it,” Mary said, teasing him with her prim tone, her hands tying a bow in the ribbon at the end of her braid. “It won’t be easy for them, but it’ll come out right and I’m sure they’ll have all kinds of support, even from the most unexpected quarters.”
There was a moment of silence, as Jed rose to help her over to the bed, aware of how sorely her leg ached after a long day, a moment during which he must have considered her remark as well, for he laughed as he settled her beneath the patchwork quilt and soft white sheets.
“Nan Hastings shall finally reign supreme, without a challenger! Heaven help me, Mary, Mansion House under the thumb of Nurse Hastings—”
“You’re wildly optimistic, I believe. I should say, under her boot,” Mary quipped and then Jed laughed again, more quietly, as he joined her in the bed and gathered her into his arms to an untroubled sleep.

So...
Is fate finally giving her a break?
Exista cumva vreo Ana in toata literatura romaneasca care nu moare si are o viata fericita?

20 Questions for fic writers
I've been tagged by @firawren @glassslippers-n-cowboyboots and @bethanydelleman
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 149, apparently. Bear in mind, most of these are very, very short, including 3 rounds now of the February Ficlet Challenge.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 297,078
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Frozen is the big one, also Tangled, various Jane Austen fandoms (mostly Pride and Prejudice and Northanger Abbey), as well as Downton Abbey.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Means of Uniting Them (Pride and Prejudice)
Have You Heard? (Pride and Prejudice, something of a "prequel" to The Means of Uniting Them)
The Young Diplomat (Frozen/Tangled crossover)
Mrs. Darcy and Her Sister (Pride and Prejudice, Darcy/Jane, Bingley/Elizabeth)
What If... (Frozen canon divergence drabble collection)
5. Do you respond to comments? I do, even if it literally takes a year or two.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I suppose "Have You Heard?", at least of my works that have more readers than I have fingers and toes... (a few of my OC drabble collections are pretty angsty, but almost nobody reads those...)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Happiest? I don't know. I haven't published most of my darker stuff, so nothing ends too badly. I suppose some of them might be a bit bittersweet.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I got some on the Darcy/Jane ficlet.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I've written a bit, and "vanilla" would probably describe it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I write a lot of crossovers. As far as the craziest, I suppose the Elsa/Darcy one...?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? One to German and one to Russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I've never tried.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship? Anna/Kristoff
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Probably one of them that I haven't started posting outside of some drabbles and ficlets. Maybe I'll get around to some of them eventually. (My WWII Downton Abbey post-canon AU is probably the one I'd love to actually write a proper longfic for.)
16. What are your writing strengths? I've gotten compliments on my dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Feelings? That's where I feel weakest, anyway.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? A lot of my dialogue can be assumed to be translated from another language, but aside from a few words I never write dialogue in another language.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Frozen
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? The Young Diplomat, being the beginning of all the plot and characters that spend the most time living rent-free in my head, probably deserves this distinction.

I was tagged by @fishing4stars @cilil and @i-did-not-mean-to I love you all, thank you.
I love doing things like this! Also, I want to clarify these are for what I like to write, for my reading things would change quite a bit.
A lot of the things I put in "Does not spark joy" are just not in my mental radar so while some I don't like, a lot are just a meh, whatever, kinda feeling about them.

Semnat, fata ce-a vrut sa fie universul tau..

Hi friends! This is a call to all writers in the Frozen fandom.
It's been a while since we've been seeing different posts that talk about the Frozen fandom being abandoned and no longer active. But we know that this is not true; there may be less movement now than in other times that I have not had the pleasure of witnessing, but the fandom is still alive and active and it looks like it will be for a long time. The problem? There are many people waiting for content and many writers who go unnoticed. But there are few things in this life that have no solution!
I've created this challenge so that all the writers of the fandom who want to can contribute a new small (or large, that's on them) story and, thus, have a place that readers can access and find a list of all the active authors or those who are going to be in a while and that they know where to find what they are looking for.
Now, I need your help. There are loads of writers in the fandom that I don't know so I can't tag them but, if you reblog this post and tag the authors you know, it might reach them and they can sign up. The more movement the post has, the fairer the event will be. Can you help us?
The rules and dates are explained in the challenge itself.
You are all welcome to participate!
We are here! Frozen fandom is alive! Let's let people know us!

bright young women
Tumblr media
“So, as you and I are hazelnuts and rye, managing the treaty shan’t be any great shakes, no matter what Kristoff says about the need for unanimity among the thanes, that’s just his troll heritage talking, they can be so dreadfully dark, you can’t imagine,” Anna, the Queen of Arendelle and wife to Kristoff, Lord Tyholmen, said in a cheerfully airy fashion that suggested Eric would completely understand her and be in total agreement. Ariel was halfway across the banqueting room, quite engrossed in her own conversation with the Queen’s sister, and thus couldn’t possibly help Eric out of what might become an international debacle.
“Ma’am?”
It was best to be careful, the diplomatic relationship between his home and Arendelle quite new and therefore tenuous, the chance of saying or doing something the northerners would find offensive elevated, despite the Queen’s bright smile and almost casual posture; she was dressed very formally, her chestnut hair elaborately braided and bejeweled. It would be rude to tell her directly that she wasn’t making any sense whatsoever.
“I haven’t said something wrong, have I? I only thought we, you and I, we might simplify the situation, between us if you will, and then we all might enjoy the festivities more and you must try the chocolate laskiaispulla, they usually have vanilla cream but the pastry chef does indulge me,” she said, the words all in a rush and a little furrow appearing on her brow. Ariel had a similar expression when confronted with aspects of human culture she found baffling, though not all were as delightful to explain to her as garters and the difference between the actual silk ribbons and the courtly Order thereof.
“I’m afraid I am not exactly following you, ma’am,” he said. The furrow grew deeper. Her tall and somewhat burly husband glanced over at them as if he had a preternatural sense that his wife was in some distress and he was deciding whether he needed to intervene. Eric inclined his head in a noticeable show of deference and the other man turned back to his own conversation with Grimsby and a senior trade official Eric always referred to as Minister Moneybags when recounting dull meetings with Ariel.
“Won’t you call me Anna? Ma’am is so dreadfully solemn. Fusty. It makes me feel older than the hills and twice as crotchety.”
Eric refrained from asking how hills could ever be crotchety, as he was beginning to get a sense of her rather exuberant self-expression. His own mother would have frowned such frivolity out of him if he’d shown any sign of it as a child.
“You are the queen,” Eric said. “It would be improper for me to be so discourteous—”
“But surely it’s not discourteous if I’ve invited you to call me Anna,” she countered quickly. “Surely it’s more discourteous to refuse to call the reigning monarch of the country with whom you are trying to broker a comprehensive trade and cultural exchange treaty the name she insists upon. Especially she is a queen and you are still the heir-apparent to your monarch.”
“If you insist,” he said, nodding slightly. “Anna, I cannot say I’ve understood a word you’ve said starting with hazelnuts.”
“Hazelnuts and rye? Ginger biscuit and mead?” Anna said.
“Is this part of the evening’s menu?” Eric hazarded. It wouldn’t make her earlier remark make any more sense but they were miles away from that.
“Yin and yang? That’s from Cathay, though, you mayn’t have come across them yet in your travels,” Anna said.
“I am familiar with the empire,” Eric said. “But not the phrase.”
“It means opposite forces that are bound together in balance,” Anna explained. “That’s you and me.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“You don’t beg, you’re a prince,” Anna corrected. “But I am making a hash of this, aren’t I?”
“I will decline to comment,” Eric said and smiled.
“You said that with such a perfect degree of regal aplomb, it’s really impressive. You’ve been very well-trained to be a king, I can tell,” Anna said. “Me, not so much, I’m afraid. But that’s what I’m talking about, how we’re hazelnuts and rye— you lost your parents in a shipwreck and so did I, except losing yours made you a king where you never would have been one and losing mine just happened earlier than anyone would have expected and I wouldn’t have been the queen except for Elsa turning out to be otherwise disposed.”
Otherwise disposed was a curious way of summarizing the discovery that her sister and queen was in large part or entirely a supernatural being who held the ethereal powers governing this region of the world in check, if Eric had understood General Mattias properly, but it was frankly not the most intriguing comment she had made.
“I’m not sure how that makes us opposite forces in balance,” Eric said.
“Well, we’ve both suffered and ascended because of shipwrecks, so there’s that,” Anna said. She paused and cocked her head to one side, then tapped one beringed finger on her lips. If they both weren’t happily married, she would have set matchmakers talking across the globe, but as it was, she only appeared perplexed, much the way Ariel was when confronted with a draisienne. “You may be right that the parallel doesn’t entirely hold, but you know what it is to lose the people you love most to forces you couldn’t begin to hold accountable. To be left behind and then left to carry on and lead everyone, when maybe you just wanted to do something else entirely. Maybe you wanted to become a cheesemonger and I could have become a dentist.”
“I can assure you, I never longed to become a cheesemonger,” Eric said. He’d never thought to have such a conversation, touching upon the deepest grief of his life while also entertaining an alternate future where he’d had a dairy and was an expert on Cheddar and Nagelkass.
“It’s fun to say though, isn’t it? Cheesemonger. Fishmonger too, but cheese is more fun than fish and no one gets hurt, which is probably more relevant to you now given Lady Ariel’s childhood friends,” Anna said. She swirled the wine around in the glass she held. She’d hardly had a sip the whole time; nothing she said could be chalked up to tipsiness.
“If you’ll forgive me, this is the most peculiar conversation, Anna,” Eric said.
She grinned at him then and he suspected that if she hadn’t been holding the wineglass, she would have clapped her hands most gleefully.
“That’s what I mean! That’s why at the end of the day, we’ll let all the diplomats and stuff old thanes and avocats fuss with the documents, but we’ll sign them and it’ll be a bright tomorrow for our two nations and you can tell me how you’ve coped with the fact that your first parents died in a storm that Lady Ariel’s father had to be responsible for and you got adopted by a king and queen instead of rock trolls like Kristoff did or just an ordinary couple and also whether breadfruit is more like bread or fruit and whether it’s better than both and also chocolate,” Anna said.
“Also chocolate?” He saw how she centered the most important and painful remark within giddy charm, allowing him to hear her while giving him an easy question to answer. Giving him time to mull over what she’d said and come back to it how and when and if he would. It would not do to underestimate her leadership, nor the value of her friendship.
“Whether breadfruit is better than bread, fruit, and chocolate. I mean it’s impossible that it’s better than chocolate but I need to keep an open mind and Kristoff will scold me if I don’t, well, he won’t scold but he’ll give me this serious look he has and I’ll feel all wizened, like a turnip forgotten in the root cellar,” Anna said. Eric thought briefly of what his mother Queen Selina was like in her private sitting room and what little he knew of Ariel’s sisters and was confident that there was no reigning queen like Anna I of Arendelle. And that was without considering the rock troll relations, though it seems she’d married into them and he grasped how little control or influence one could have over or with one’s in-laws.
“Chocolate is better than breadfruit, let’s begin there,” Eric said. “I hope we can both sign the treaty, that they don’t all muck it up, because I’d very much like to be in league with you, Queen Anna, well before I become King Eric Janus II.”
“Eric Janus II?” Now, she scrunched up her face as if he’d told her turnips and breadfruit would replace all the world’s supply of chocolate.
“Yes, I know,” Eric said. “It’s a lot. I have to add Klaas and Amaury and Bohemond when I ascend the throne.”
“That’s a mouthful,” Anna said. “Unless it sounds better in your native language—”
“It doesn’t,” Eric said.
“I’ll call you nothing but Eric then, if you prefer it,” Anna offered as her broad-shouldered, blond husband joined them, giving her a glance Eric would not have recognized before his own marriage, one that questioned and chided in equal measure, one Ariel was wont to give him when he cautioned her about swimming alongside their ship or staying up late to read to what she said was only the end of the chapter.
“You needn’t glare, Kristoff, the Prince and I understand each other perfectly,” Anna said. “Your precious treaty isn’t in any danger. Quite the contrary—”
“It’s not my precious treaty and I wasn’t glaring,” he said. He seemed ill-at-ease in his uniform in the grandly appointed room as he hadn’t when they’d gone out for a drive into the royal parkland and woods, his fine silks and velvets traded for a well-worn leather coat and a dusty pair of boots, a red kerchief knotted at his throat. “The ambassadors and the diplomatic corps from both nations have been working to deliver an agreement mutually beneficial, with particular attention to the ramifications of an allegiance and the power balance of the Silver Crescent.”
“I beg you not to explain about the judicial reforms going before the council and the need for a winter by-election. I positively beg you,” Anna said, taking her husband’s hand, and then smiling at Eric. “Kristoff, Lord Tyholmen that is, has very strong convictions about necessary modifications to the monarchy and the guildsmen but there’s a time and place and the dancing is about to begin.”
“Then, if you would grant me the great favor, I would be honored to open the first waltz with you, Anna,” Eric said, bowing smartly and extending his hand.
“Drat, I was supposed to ask you and not sidle around it. I wasn’t purposefully sidling,” Anna said. Kristoff smiled and lifted her hand to his lips to kiss her knuckles. “Kristoff, you know we’ll have the lihkadus and the last waltz—”
“I’m not upset, Anna,” Kristoff said. “And I don’t think Prince Eric is either, even if he isn’t dancing with Lady Ariel at the moment.”
“Lord Tyholmen is correct,” Eric said. “I understood—you and I, Anna, we’re bake and shark, ackee and saltfish, aren’t we?”
“I suppose we must be,” Anna said. “Though I’ll need a complete explanation and that will include whether I am the bake or the shark. I hardly know which is more daunting! Perhaps I should ask Lady Ariel—"
“It’s always the shark, Anna,” Kristoff said, winking at Eric. “You don’t need to be a mermaid to know that.”

Wanna get back into the Kristanna fandom, because the fanfictions are PHENOMENAL. Any fic recs?
In case anyone was curious, I HIGHLY recommend Where The World Is In The Making. Hasn’t been updated since September, but it’s a fantastic read
Hi, Anon! This is a great question! It sounds like you may have read some kristanna fics from a ways back, so I'll just give you some recent recommendations (probably way more than you wanted!).
What I'm reading right now (ie, I drop everything I'm doing when the posting notification!):
Room for You @leaves-of-laurelin (college AU, Anna/Kristoff/Hans)
Little and Much @jericks3 (restaurant AU)
All I Really Want @anywhozits (1990s AU)
Frozen in the Time of Magic @royalsorcerer (Harry Potter AU)
Ordinary Days @rohirrim-writer (WWII farm AU)
Still Falling for You @szygy_mellifulous (Downton Abbey AU)
Stars Fall Down in You @StarCommCowgirl (coffeeshop AU, ghost!anna)
Here's some completed works (from the past year or so) I highly recommend:
The Commoner Clause @hyggescribbles (canon verse)
Cracking Bones @hiptoff (modern AU, Anna and Kristoff find love in their 70s)
I Touch Myself @hyggescribbles (modern AU, if you like smut)
Letters in the Leaves @annaofthenorthernlights (1800s AU)
Here's to Us @syzygy_mellifluous (music AU)
Belly Flops and Nose Dives @sunshineandsparkles (modern AU)
Chocolate and Chess @ar-redux (post F2, if you like smut)
Charcoal @hiptoff (pre-Viking AU)
An Unusual Predicament @justfrozenthings (modern AU, skinny dipping)
Midsommer Scenes @fericita-s (canon verse)
Common Courtesy @rohirrim_writer (modern AU, neighbors, if you like smut)
East of the Sun, West of the Moon (it's a little older, but I'm adding it here anyway, in the off chance you haven't read it, because it's one of my favorites)
Oh, and thank you for the recommendation! I've actually had Where the World is in the Making in my "save for later" folder and just checked it out. I loved it (only now I'm crossing my fingers for an update, too!)! I think you might be able to get your fix from Ordinary Days, Letters in the Leaves, This Will Be Our Year (Great Depression AU), and the Wild Blue Yonder series (frontier AU).
There's also a lot of stuff I still have in my "save for later" folder that I haven't read, so lots of other good stuff out there! These are just some of my favorites.
I hope you like them as much as I do! Happy reading!

This is from a scene I wrote for the last chapter I posted of my, very self indulgent, Merlin x Avengers crossover (which I'm very proud of).
“Hm. Doesn’t mean it’s not true,” she said and left it at that.
Here's the fic if you're interested: Of The Old Things Hidden In The World

Asa cum mereu ti-ai dorit s-o faca cineva.
