pairing: petra macneary x gn!reader

summary: to end a conflict between your nations, you and petra pretend to be in love with each other

the relationship between brigid and the adrestian empire had been rocky for the last few years

it seemed like the two would go to war sometime soon, which both you and petra were dreading

you were an adrestian noble, while petra was the heir to brigid's throne

when petra was visiting the adrestian empire to discuss the situation with the leaders of fodlan, the two of you met for the first time

it didn't take long for the two of you to realize that you had the same goal: avoid a war between the two nations

yet neither of you really knew how to prevent a war like this

that was, until you came up with an idea

perhaps a stupid idea, but there was a chance that this could work

during the conference with the leaders of fodlan and brigid, the two of you suddenly declared that you plan to marry each other

you try to appeal to your parents emotions, as you tell them about how madly in love you are with each other and that you couldn't bear to fight the person you love in a war

you weren't sure if it would work, but to your surprise, they gave in and decided to make a contract, that the two nations wouldn't go to war with each other

in the end, you had achieved your goal. there was no need for an unnecessary war anymore

but that also meant the two of you had to keep up that little lie you came up with earlier

you barely knew each other, yet what you did know was that you would eventually have to marry each other

petra ended up staying in the empire for longer than intended, so that the two of you could get to know each other

during your time together, you realized that you couldn't have picked anyone better to fake a relationship with than petra

she was kind, smart and you enjoyed spending time with her

what started as a fake relationship slowly started to become real and you knew that by the time the two of you would get married, you would be head over heels for each other…

Edelgard is racist towards Petra

On the the subject on is Edelgard racist towards Petra and the answer is yes which is linked towards Edelgard's colonialism of Brigid (Edelgard could easily just give Brigid independence once in power but she doesn't). Edelgard holds Brigid's independence over Petra's aid in the war in Three Hopes and Brigid won't be free until Edelgard wins the war (or Petra leaves which she should). Petra may tell Edelgard she thinks she is her equal but how can she present herself as anything less.

Edelgard literally says that she is really only considering Brigid's freedom because of Petra's competence and it's this kind of colonial mindset that Edelgard has that shows she has an underlying racist attitude towards not only Petra but towards the people of Brigid since they will only become independent because of Edelgard's will.

Even in Crimson Flower we have Petra confesses that she being threatened with Brigid to fight for the empire and in her Deduce support it shows a stark contrast in how she is willing to let her vulnerabilities show when no longer needing to present a front.

Fire Emblem birthday edit mega pack because I'm behind on posting edits again! REALLY proud of all these!! Hinoka, Petra, and Soliel are some of my TOP favourite characters, so I made sure these looked really good. Though I wasn't aiming for it, they all ended up with some shade of red hair. I like them a lot!
