Lae'zel's character and her entire situation at the beginning of the game becomes so much more funny when you find out she's 22. It makes so much sense. Imagine you're 22 and you're exposed to this dangerous toxin or chemical or something - but not to worry, you learnt that this can be easily fixed, you just need to dial 911 real quick. Common knowledge. Everyone knows that. You learnt that in kindergarten, it's up there with fire alarm drills.
But the people you're stuck with have no concept of modern medicine and when you say "let's go to the hospital" they will say shit like "i think they kill people at the hospital" and "we should ask this swamp lady" or "this guy over there told me about this homoeopathic healer kind of guy but he got abducted" or "this random bard wants to help" and "I'm not going to dial 911 because I don't want the government to know my home address" or "maybe we should consider a deal with Satan". And then a bunch of them KEEP consuming the chemical because it makes them "stronger". One guy might explode for unrelated reasons. You have a few days before this situation is getting critical and suddenly they're solving crime and doing general charity for the community.
And FOR SOME REASON you still try to help these idiots and you STILL want to help them get the cure even though they all keep insisting the "doctors" at the "hospital" might try to "kill them" and they don't have insurance. And you keep telling them to just. go. to. the. hospital. before the time runs out and you all die very horribly of a very treatable condition.
And also you're 22 in a foreign country and you're responsible for shepherding this gaggle of idiots who are all ranging anywhere from 24 to 240 years old.

Ten? TEN?! Larian, please. You can't let everyone and their mom go on about how beefy and strong Halsin is when he's got a measly 10 in strength. I understand if the men are impressed, but every single one of the ladies are stronger than him!
Over at Patreon and society6 we appreciate the strong women though. Respectfully.

you all can barely handle one person that doesn't meet even a single beauty standard I think if u saw a normal human being with normal wrinkles, normal fatness, and who wasn't immaculately waxed and sprayed to fuck you'd explode on the street

I agree with a lot of what's been said about the pacing (namely that this already great season could have been even better with an extra beat between eps 5 & 6, and likely another between 7 & 8) but I just want to take a second to remember what a fucking accomplishment this season is.
Like, just off the top of my head: they managed to expand the world-building of the show's pirate universe, add compelling new characters, deepen the central relationship in a genuinely complex and nuanced way with rich character arcs for both, at least suggest at greater complexity and emotional development for many of the background characters, and produce more expansive and technically challenging visuals including some very impressive action and crowd sequences. And they did all that with two fewer episodes, while still maintaining the original tone of the show and keeping run times under 30 minutes apiece.
It's not perfect, and they're not equally successful on all fronts, but it is extremely fucking good, and the fact that it gets anywhere close within those limitations is frankly an astounding artistic achievement

I recently learned of Private Wojtek, a brown bear owned by the polish army during ww2, who entertained civillians and soldiers alike, and (supposedly) helped carry crates of ammunition during warfare. Some of the stuff I've read about the way he was kept sounds almost too good to be true, while other parts sound downright unhealthy (i.e. feeding him cigarettes). I wanted to hear if you think he was handled in accordance with proper animal husbandry
I mean. He rode in artillery trucks and was given cigarettes and beer. So I'm gonna go with probably not, lol.
One one hand, it's nice that the troops weren't willing to abandon the animal they'd purchased and hand-raised when they were deployed, and enlisting him to get rations for him is a pretty funny idea. But also like... yeah, don't take bears into war zones. (Article about him here) He did eventually retire to the Edinburgh Zoo.
Here's some various photos of him from around the internet: they're pretty incredible, even without modern sensibilities of animal welfare coming into play.
The unit he was with even got a special emblem made for them in honor of Wojtek: a bear carrying an artillery shell.

I can’t remember what canon is like (and there’s so many different versions of canon anyways) but there’s a lot of Spiderman fics where he’s talking to someone he knows as both Peter Parker and Spiderman but they don’t know his secret and there’ll be this lil convo where they’re like “oh did you talk to [his other identity] about that?”
And a good majority of the time he’ll say yes instead of pretending like the two identities just never interact
And I just really really want to know how people think those convos go, like do they think they’re friendly to each other? do they think Peter harasses Spiderman like the paparazzi harass stars? do they think Peter’s just trying to get a couple of pics and Spidey traps him to have someone to tell all his jokes to?
How do people imagine those conversations going???
