Ontario residents who are six months and older will be able to receive their free flu shot and the new COVID-19 vaccine starting on Monday.

Health Minister Sylvia Jones announced the immunization program rollout on Sunday, saying people should make sure they are up to date on their vaccinations to stay safe and healthy during the season when respiratory illnesses typically surge.

Had my flu & covid vaccine yesterday afternoon and man are they hitting me hard this year. I think it's mostly the flu jab as I'm usually super and hit and miss with how it affects me. Covid I've always done okay with. Fever, aches, headache, crippling nausea, the whole 9 yards this year.

Walgreens essentially paid me $20 for getting vaccinated!*

*DISCLAIMER* i'm a nobody in Maine, USA. i have no idea if this applies to other Walgreens locations, this is completely based on my personal experience. they didn't say anything about it ahead of time, i didn't see it advertised anywhere, they just stapled the vouchers to my receipt as i left the clinic. but i figured it could be worth sharing!!

i scheduled an appointment to get my flu vaccine and new COVID-19 booster through my local Walgreens pharmacy. i was able to get both shots in the same appointment, even close enough together on the same arm to only use one bandaid. as i was leaving, they gave me my pharmacy receipts with the info for the two vaccines, and there were two vouchers stapled with them. as a reward for getting vaccinated (i'm assuming i got one for each shot i got), each voucher allows you to earn $10 in Walgreens Cash (essentially store credit) when you redeem it during a purchase where you're spending over $1 in store. it's considered a storewide coupon so you can only redeem one per transaction, but i've earned $20 to use in the future! i just wanted to share in case anyone else barely scraping by could use the info!!
