This was gonna be a little fanfic one-shot but it ended up being too short so I made it a doodle comic instead. Anyway I love Team Greed with all my heart <3

heinkel darius ed greed and ling should start a band together solely because they have a prime opportunity to name themselves something that looks like a stupid shitpost but is actually 100% legit
"an alchemist a prince possessed by sin and two middle aged men are camping together waiting for the end of the world" or some shit
like is there even one (1) reason to be against that name no there isn't

We definitely do not go into the aches and pains and issues that the Chimera crew probably have to deal with like. At all.
Darius probably has it the easiest, because the skeleton of a gorilla is the closet to that of a human, but Heinkel, Jerso, and Zampano? Those are completely different skeletal systems, not to mention whatever the FUCK Zampano has going on with his back spike attacks.
These are four men whose bodies are in high physicality as humans, but as Chimeras do their bones grind, break, and reform? Do their muscles tear and regrow each time? How many of those animals instincts are drawn over and across from their Chimera form to their human form?
Does Darius avoid eye contact in order to show that he’s not a threat when he’s not fighting? Does Jerso have issues regulating his body temperature because frogs are cold-blooded? Was Zampano’s need for glasses because of the fact that boars have horrible eyesight and that carried over? Does Heinkel find himself eating much more than the others would and primarily meat?
To the other’s diet’s change even more as well?

Edward Elric was the FIRST Goes Around Adding His Enemies To His Found Family Protagonist but he gets forgotten because he doesnt have the Steven Universe personality or Aang kindness like come on just because hes foaming at the mouth biting growling screaming and beating the shit out of them before becoming allies doesnt mean he isnt friends with them later on

I think the most important thing in the Chimera AU is the fact that here, in this place, this time, this world, Kimblee has people that are “his”
And perhaps that has something to do with animal instincts. Most all of the Chimeras is a social animal, after all— Wolves and their Packs, Lions and their Prides, Frogs and their Armies, Gorillas and their Bands… Boars are the only ones who aren’t across the board, with males being more solitary after leaving their Sounders, but Zampano was never a solitary man at heart.
But perhaps it has to do with the humanization of him. Lots of things change when one is seen at their lowest points for four years— full of vitriol and hate and snarling words and bloodied teeth.
they know one another, know the deepest and darkest depths, their hearts and core beings. Everything about them stripped away bare to the five of them and those in the labs testing, creating, making the perfect Human Chimera weapons for the military.
And for Kimblee who became nothing but a weapon and a monster for years? Whose hands were stained with blood the moment he was born, whose father looked at him and saw only his mother and felt hate for him? Whose most primal defense is snarling hate and bearing his teeth at pain because that’s all he knew as a child?
The pity and shared pain is humiliating the first few months. Grit through it, snarl, snap, bare your teeth. But it eases. Shared pain, reaching through the bars and grasping at hand, fur, skin, cloth— four years before they’re released. Four years of shared pain and controlled environments to work together in. Four years of learning about each other, about why it had been them.
A soldier who should’ve been in prison but they needed a subject to perfect everything on first. Two soldiers without family who would notice ether missing status, two soldiers estranged from theirs and would not miss them. Four soldiers in peak form, and one soldier whose blood sang to kill.
But even as they view themselves as monsters, as non human, they humanize one another.
And so Kimblee would willingly lead them, fight for them, die for them.
Or maybe it’s just because of those animal instincts.
He will never tell.
(But they all know the answer already.)

Thinking sooooo hard about writing my Devil’s Nest lives AU again mostly because I really really really like the idea of Dolcetto as a mentor figure to Lan Fan. Like okay, aside from my fatherhood thoughts about Dolcetto, they share surprisingly similar roles and personalities. I keep imagining them, both hotheaded and stubborn and defensive, meeting at odds and then coming to realize that they both serve the same body on the sides of two different people. And I can’t help but wonder if Dolcetto would recognize some part of himself in her. They share a devotion so intense that they would destroy their bodies for it over and over. But after surviving the massacre of most of the gang and dealing with the ensuing trauma of again being without hope or faith and in a body that barely feels like his, I wonder what words of caution he would have for her. How long would it take for her to realize that this man, whose chi is certainly off and who doesn’t exactly fight on the same side as her, really truly understands the urge to die for someone?
