The hate-boners that some people have for fictional characters genuinely do a disservice to fandom imo, I can't tell you how many times I've seen the most bad-faith interpretations of characters as horrible abusers when their worst crime in the source material was being a little bit annoying or grumpy. Y'all are allowed to dislike a character without twisting them into something they're not I promise

remember when the MLP fandom started and there were tutorials in how to make cutiemarks and write them right?

I came with something

Let's start saying something important: I'M NOT A EXPERT, 'm just someone that had been in fandoms for 13 years, and created characters even before that, so i had already fall for that rock a lot of creators falls when they start, i think i can help you evade some of then on the road. This is not a perfect tutorial, but i hope i help someone in my audience with their critters (and future projects).

So, now, first point: What is a powertag?

In the Smiling Critters we can see they have some kind of decoration/pendant in their necks, a pretty tag that defined their personalites, some are clear (like Bobby's, 'cause a heart is a simple representation of emotions) and some are less specific (like Crafty, that even when is a flower she isn't related to plant, but to colours, so the flower part of her tag isn't the important part, but the colours in it)

This of course is a reference to Carebears, where the toys got a different pattern in their bellies related to their personalities.

BUT, we're not going to used the Carebears as example here, we're going to use another children cartoon with symbolism in their characters.

'cause yes, i like more how the cutie marks work, and i think i would also work here.

So, with that clear, let start!

1-The character

YOU NEED TO ALREADY HAVE A IDEA OF A CHARACTER, You can't start with the ''i want a dog with a bone as tag'' and hope that everything goes right, you first need to write the character without thinking in the tag. Give him a personality, likes and dislike, actittude, hopes and dreams, thinks this first.

2- What do you want to make important?

In the idea of your character, you can take a point in their personality and make it their principal trait, that's what we're going to use to make the tag (and the future power).

In my case, let use the troublemaker trait.

3- Look for symbolisms in internet

theres a LOT of ways to interpreted a trait, but google is a good helper if you don't have a clear idea of what symbolism can work for your character.

or, if you already have a idea of what symbol do you want to use for the character, see in google is said symbol can work with your trait, if not, take what google tell you about your symbol and put it in your character to keep the tag.

in my case, i already know how to use it based in what google told me, so let go to the next point.

4- the power and the name.

Just like in MLP, names are related to the tag, some are literal (dogday) and some don't (Bubba, that can be a reference to bulb), so you know the name need to be related to the tag somehow.

First let see how my tag work for my character. You see, she's a troublemaker, but also a racoon, that are know to be thieves, so if she's also lazy but smart, what would you think would be useful for her?

Something that prevent her to work a lot to get what she want, maybe a whip?

But wait, where's the spiritual part of the tag like google said?

Well, what if she doesn't take possesions, BUT souls?

She get the souls out of the bodies and tada! A mindless body that she can boss around like a servant, a perfect tag for a villian.

With this in mind, her name would be Lizy Spiral, Making a game of word with the words ''lazy'' and 'spirit''

Just be creative and work with what you can get, there's a lot of thing you can take to make a tag and the powers work, just go wild and make something good.

Extra point - don't stop yourself!

Just like in MLP, i can already see a lot of tags been repeated between Ocs, and yeah, this isn't a problem! A symbol can be interprete in a lot of different ways, you and i aren't going to see the same thing in a apple, i for example don't see just a fruit, but i see sharing ('cause apple are usually eat by cutting them in pieces), that's why my picky have a tag that can be used like backpag, 'cause i don't just see her like someone how eat, but i see her like someone how like to share the food she like with her friends, so it logical for me to give her something were she could keep all the food she want for an emergency.

Just thing out of the circle, see more in one object and go with what you think is good. And remember, have fun!

Demo drinking himself to death cus he cant handle seeing his friend in the state that he's in. Sniper disappearing cus he wants to be with his parents during this horrible time even tho they have a strained relationship. Spy wanting his son to live through this so much that he's planning to sever his wings himself. And heavyyyyyy. Heavy breaking his heart everyday still taking care of medic knowing he's going to have to kill the love of his life soon. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Anyways sorry for fuckin. Screaming in your asks and basically just repeating what you wrote sgjdjd. I must ask! Where did you find the information to base off your generalizations of the different mlp generation doll looks for your katara sculpts? Was it just from being in the fandom all thst tike or are there archives one can look into? Doll releases really interest me and I loved how you broke down the gen trends

There are a few good sites I'd recommend for pony stuff + other dolls

-Top tier is the My Little Wiki, it has a huge amount of stuff including all the spinoffs (eg My Little Kitty/Puppy and the Takara ponies)! It probably has the most information

However, if you don't like navigating all the words on a wiki there are a few other sites I like to browse that are more visual. They may have incomplete information. So I look for stuff on these other sites and refer back to My Little Wiki or elsewhere to learn more.

-StrawberryReef is where I find references for g3-g5 but also you can see all the g1 ponies sorted by colors or year of release which is nice

-PonylandPress is a site that's incomplete/seemingly abandoned but I really like browsing it because it has a nice vibe and I can sort by poses easily

-ToySisters has g1-g4 My Little Ponies and the early spinoff lines, but also has a lot of both modern and older toylines

Last but certainly not least, GhostoftheDoll was a great help when working on my takara video. It's a great site to just mess around on, thats where I found out about the centaur toy I'm making rn!

My insurance denied covering the bill for a test, despite telling me they would cover EVERYTHING for this ER visit, leaving me on the hook for almost 900 dollars.

So, you mentioned putting little symbols and messages in your comic. I did spend some time skimming through Little Brother to try and find those symbols you mentioned, and I do think I found some. But, they were so miniscule and subtle that I decided not to waste an ask bringing something to the surface that could possibly have no meaning whatsoever.

I will continue to try and find them, though. I'll even enhance the images just in case you hid them that well. But for now, this is what I got.

So, I decided to bring some things up that are more light-hearted that most of us have probably already noticed yet didn't think much of.

These are just references I've noticed. Or at least things I think are references.

1. The show/shows the turtles were watching after the "three weeks earlier" are some shows I can tell you like. I noticed Danny Phantom, but I don't recognize the one above it.

2. I already made an ask bringing up all the references in Spot's room because it was one of the more obvious ones. MLP, Lemon Demon, and Spiderverse.

3. When Huginn and Muginn explain how they got Spot's stuff for his room, I think the kids in the back are from some other show I don't remember...? I think theirs background characters that you've inserted in that are supposed to be subtle references but maybe that's just me fqfwy2uejejru. I think theirs also little gizmos in the background that are meant to be Easter eggs, but I again can't remember for the life of me, lmao.

4. These are just silly ones since they were edited in for your birthday version of Spot's traumatizing "almost" death. Autism creature, and Finn (ah) from Adventure Time.

5. In the most recent, most traumatizing chapter yet, I saw Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls. I love how he's infested like all of Cartoon Networks shows and now Little Brother, LOL. I think I also see something that's referencing... something? Hehe, I'm really making a fool of myself. You can really tell I have unique tastes in fandoms, huh?

That's pretty much it. If there were any other silly little Easter eggs I missed, then I'll gladly take the criticism. I don't exactly have the best eye for these types of things. Maybe tomorrow or another day, I'll talk about the little details in the comic because there's so many I've seen that made me smile. You put a surprising amount of detail into the background characters, too.

Oh boy, okay then, strap yourselves. Call me Captain Tangent because I'm going to take too long getting to the point, but yippee!!

Alright, first is the context before the context. I watched Wordgirl during the original shorts that were between Maya and Miguel since I was a PBS kid (cable was inconsistent). During that time, I watched it up until season 4, when I dropped off in favor of other stuff. From that time, I do remember that I wasn't a Tobey x Wordgirl(Becky) fan. Instead, Tobey's crush on Wordgirl flew over my small head, and I was a Scoops and Becky truther because apparently, I recognized Becky's crush on Scoops more. (I didn't know what shipping was exactly. All I knew was that I liked to pair characters up in my head or be invested in romantic tension. EXs: Robin and Starfire in OG Teen Titans, Tiana and Naveen, ...Pleakley and Jumba...)

When about season 4 started, I didn't try to see what the show was up to until after the Miss Power special, where I curiously searched up Wordgirl on the family computer to see what happened. There then I found SuperstarWordgirl's art and amvs about Tobecky. Remember, I forgot about Tobey's crush, so I was just confused about why people wanted to see them smoochy kiss (I was like: "What?? Doesn't he dislike her? And she has the other boy??")

I was puzzled and embarrassed seeing shipping amvs, so I left it alone, only searching it up a bit on ff.net because I used it for mlp fics, and yup still was confused so I didn't hear of Wordgirl by then.

--Then, my mind broke in 2016. With animated movies like Zootopia and Finding Dory, I started to develop fixations beyond MLP and lurk into fandoms where I discovered Tumblr. (I was in the mlp fandom before, but I wasn't overtly active or multifandom yet, and was still a kid, so I was in very much danger and scarred for life to the point of my development but that's for another day--). Later that year, with the release of Sing, I really kicked into gears of wanting to make stuff/make friends with similar interests. Yada Yada, eventually over a year with being on Tumblr, I started to see posts about childhood nostalgia, and the PBS ones caught my eyes. Wordgirl was a big one, and superhero stories were getting interesting for me again, so I nodded and respected it. BUT THEN I SAW A POST SAYING THAT there was a canonical gay couple in Wordgirl, and I ran straight to the tag--look I was invested highly into gay shit so once I heard about it...in a PBS show? In my childhood show? I was like, OKAY, LET'S HEAR IT OUT.

And yes indeed, to whom that post was referring to...was TJ and Johnson... (What I didn't know, that was just when Liz confirmed stuff on tumblr for the last season like two years ago), BUT REGARDLESS, I GOT INVESTED BECAUSE GAY PPL REAL!! So yes, guys. You technically have Tjohnson to thank for getting me into the fandom and, yes, eventually to ship Tobecky.

Getting into the Wordgirl tag, I was very excited and comforted by all the art and tight-knit unity the fandom had. Headcanons, fan arts, and crossovers with stuff like other PBS shows or Captain Underpants, it really put me in a place of whimsy at the time. (remembered I was in places like the brony fandom, so by comparison, i was safe) and I was in the starting phases of high school too, so yep, seeing nostalgic wonderful art did my brain good. My fixation of animated movies waned, and I dipped deeply into Wordgirl, other cartoons, and video games. Because I was lurking in the Wordgirl tag, it wouldn't take long to see Tobecky again, along with other ships. Then it finally dawned on me after seeing clips posted that Tobey definitely had a crush on Wordgirl. And well...I'm a sucker for anything romance and especially since I missed that detail before so I went on YouTube for more clips. This was before the resurgences of ppl posting Wordgirl stuff, so I then went to deviantart for answers and got obsessed with this one artist on their Tobecky art. Like I didn't ship it yet, but I liked it. Eventually, after a few weeks on the Wordgirl tag, I kicked the bucket and watched the full show (I actually watched it through a tumblr masterpost link AHH THE MEMORIES) but regardless, after watching everything, yup....it became a hyper fixation. But what about Tobecky? So, I mentioned before that it wasn't until re-watching the four seasons again and seeing for the first time the other seasons that started to ship tobecky. Specifically, Have You Seen The Remote. I was already a bit intrigued since the first episode (because I like for one-sided infatuation relationships), but the whole thing with Tobey trying to say how much he and Wordgirl could get along and how they're similar in some ways...he was trying to convince her on their potential chemistry; but all he did was convince me lmao.

I liked their dynamic that wasn't just romantic, too, and i stewed on it for a bit and reached the conclusion like I did with Tjohnson. That yes....shipping time. I made it to the last Tobey episode, and it just confirmed deeply that out of any other woodview school character that I liked her best with Tobey (the note dude, the note was my roman empire, similar to the scene of TJ getting bashful over Johnson complementing him in what would Wordgirl do). I was critical of the ship itself, especially after catching up with it's fandom lore and it did kinda made feel a tad guilty, but at this point I've made peace that I can like this ship but also talk shit because of my love for it (you can be analytic guys it ain't gonna kill you, but also be respectful and don't bully others).

Becky is my favorite character, and Tobey is my favorite character to analyze, so match made in haven, I suppose. Plus, i liked my spin on them in a timeskip setting, and AHH-- (*Future AU happens*). The fics only made it worse by how Tobecky began to infest my brain. Shout out to Something Hidden. Yeah, also, as I mentioned, after finishing up Wordgirl, that's when I really started to break out of my shell in the fandom and express my ideas and care for Tjohnson and Tobecky. Of course! I'm not trying to brag but I'm pretty sure I've brought the most Doctor Whooves content into the fandom so it would be odd to not mention DWnA and Discord Whooves haha. (As far as I'm aware I have the longest running DW radio play which I believe was the first one? And it has more episodes than any others out there. And Lovestruck Derpy + Discord Whooves were the most well known Doctor Whooves blogs and also some of the longest running, and DW alone has almost 1,000 posts)

Gang, it's confirmed. It's not transmitted through biting as we previously thought. It's ON SIGHT. Everyone is gremlin now.

In all seriousness, I don't own the term. I might be the first to refer to my minis/chibis as such, at least in the MLP ask blog community, but I don't know, man. It's expected in community driven fandoms, it's whatever to me. Yeah, it's kinda my "thing" if you will. Gremlin Dainty is what blew my blog up after all. I'm known as a gremlin and The Gremlin. If I had a business card, it'd be the tagline in some capacity, but like I said, Gremlins was a movie in 80s. I have the same amount of rights to it as much as anyone else. No point in getting ruffled by it, ya know? It isssss what it issssss.

So Blurry made a doc about me and posted it through a friend of his aandd... Oh boy is it somethingg, it's basically full of already resolved issues (only showing what I did to him and not what he did to mee), out of context screenshotss (as usuall), aand just blatant liess. He tried to claim I was his "abuser" as well 'cause I had held him accountable for his behaviorr (Whichh... Is absolutely crazyy, buut okk)

The only good thing about this was that Blurry referenced my special interest in the titlee, like yess, thank youu✨

Anywayy, onto discussing the docc:

First of alll, I never drew the art to "get back at him" or whateverr, like he so claimss, those aren't my words like he's claiming they aree, I never said I wanted to get back at himm, that's not what it waas:

The "several userss" Blurry mentioned is his friend Cultc0ree (who has stolen 5 of my OCs aand has tried to slander my name beforee), aand his fans that contacted mee, who were either proshipperss, nsfw accounts that posted clopping (MLP Nsfww)/irl nsfww/yiff (furry nsfww), or bothh. One of which had reposted/supported bad dragonn, a zoophilic companyy... That kind of stuff makes me uncomfyy, of course I'd block those kind of people who post that stufff:

Due to the bad experiences I had with his fanss, I'm not in the furry fandom anymoree. I don't like drawing furries much unless it's my comfort characterr (more on that laterr). I still draw furries/anthro from time to timee, just not as much as I used tooo

Alsoo, Blurry fails to mention what happened after the callout post was madee, that being his father had threatened to dox me and a minor just 'cause I called him outt (shown heree and heree), aand he did nothing about itt, nor does he ever mention his own behavior towards mee

It's also ironic that Blurry says I stalk himm, when he's stalked both me and Mobcrit beforee. Blurry wouldn't know about this blog if he hadn't stalked my following on my alt accountt (which was privatee, my followingg, not my altt), as the blog isn't searchablee:

Basicallyy, tumblr had a glitch that had marked your followers private for you in your settingss, buut had made them public on your profilee, aand that's how Blurry had found itt. It's not searchablee, he wouldn't have found it any other wayy

Anywayy, Blurry claims that me holding him accountable for his behavior (referring to my response post from the Blurry docc) is gaslighting according to himm, whichh... Holding someone accountable for their behavior isn't gaslightingg? Huhh??:

As welll, recentlyy, after Cags on Mobcrit posted an ask with someone saying people should rewrite Mob's FON loree, Blurry came into my DMs threatening su*cide and saying Cagney was attacking him 'cause the people on Mobcrit don't like his workk (He thinks I run Mobcrit when I'm just their archivistt, this has been stated multiple times on the blog itselff) ... He conveniently left this out of his docc:

What prompted that convoo, was that Blurry got mad that Cagney on Mobcrit proposed an idea to rewrite Mob's FON loree... Notice how I said MOB'S and not Blurry'ss, completely missing the meaning of the postt:

Cagney's talking about Mob's lore heree, not Blurry'ss. Blurry just can't understand that some people don't like his workk. You have to expect that kind of thing when you post your work so that people can see itt (Oh yeahh, he also calls that "bullyingg" sooo-)

Blurry had also accused me of gaslighting 'cause I had responded to a joke Cagney made (that Blurry gets no maidenss) by joking about it furtherr, whichh... The fact that you're getting upset over a stupid meme kind of confirms that at this pointt-

Alsoo, he had lied to me about him not following NSFW accountss, aand I had called him out on it in that same convoo, as he was following Mob's NSFW account on twitter with his rebranded accountt, which he conveniently left out of his docc. He tried to lie and say that he had followed aand unfollowedd, buut that's a total liee, 'cause the screenshot shown was taken just before Mob deleted the account due to minors following itt:

So far I've only really done Undertale stuff. I've made Equustale and FnaFtale yeah, but that's not enough for me. I'm into other fandoms. So today, I present to eeryone... My MLP redesigns! (I haven't watched an MLP episode in a year so hopefully these are ok and don't contradict anything)

(I know I'm not the best at drawing, hopefully these designs aren't awful. Also I know I forgot the cutie marks. I'll design them in the future. I also plan to make some anthro designs and of course ship kiddies)

First there is Fluttershy. She is 2' 0'' (Petite to a whole 'nother level) to the top of her head. She is a Pudu Deer pegasus (Mom is a deer, dad is a pony). She is 27 years old. Fluttersy is very small and tiny. She can't fly well because of her thin tiny wings. She was held back in flight school as a filly.

Rainbow Dash next. Rainbow Dash is a thoroughbred pegasus, 5' 4'' to the top of her head, age 26. She has big ol' wings and is very light on her feet. She wears goggles because it helps her fly without the wind blowing in her eyes. Also because it looks cool.

Then Applejack. Applejack is a big and hefty Clydesdale horse, standing at a nice 5' 0''. She is 29. Applejack is weightier in her hooves and has some fluff.

Pinkie Pie! (I had the most fun designing her) Pinkie is the youngest at 25. She likes to paint her hooves, wear bows, and cover her mane in sprinkles and confetti. She parties in her spare time. She is nice and plumpy. A 3' 6'' Shetland Earth Pony.

Rarity is next. She is 29, slightly older than Applejack. She is very elegant and pretty and generally small for a unicorn, and is an Arabian breed. She is 4' 2''. I didn't give her a leonine tail or ancient unicorn horn I know. I just like this tail better.

Twilight Sparky now. She is not an alicorn. She is an Appaloosa Unicorn at 5' 2''. She is 28 years old. She has a feathery leonine tail. Twilight doesn't have really good eyesight and wears glasses. She has white spots all over her body to resemble stars.

Thought I was done? Nah. I also did the male mane six! Rather then make them the same but just boys I tried to make them their own characters somewhat.

First is Butterscotch. He is visually the opposite of Flutters. Tall, at a nice 5' 8''. I wanted to go for a gentle giant effect.. He is a Red Deer pegasus (Father is a deer, mother is a pony). He is 28, maybe a little younger than Twilight Sparkle. While Fluttershy is more in tune with animals and small critters, Butterscotch is better with plants. He knows how to take care of any type of flower, plant, or tree.

Rainbow Blitz next. He is a thoroughbred pegasus. He is 5' 9'' and 28, a little older than Twilight and Butterscotch. He is very feathery and so totaly manly. You can tell by the rainbow hoofpaint. Rainbow Blitz isn't as fast in the air because his wings are small, but he can run quite fast. He can run at a powerful 140 to 170 MPH. That isn't to say he's not a fast flier. He's just not as fast as Rainbow Dash.

Male Applejack. I refer to male Applejack as Applejax, so that's what I'm going to call him so that there's less confusion. Applejax is the biggest at a wopping 6 feet tall. He is a Shire horse and is 29, older than Rarity.

Bubble Berry next. Bubble Berry is an Irish Donkey (Mother is a pony, father is a pony. She gets the donkey from another relative). I saw somebody make Pinkie a donkey and I fell in love with the idea so I had to make someone a donkey. So Bubble Berry is the man. Bubble Berry is 4' 4'' and is 27, slightly older than Fluttershy. He has a super furry body. Bubble Berry likes to make smoothies, parfeits, milkshakes, and other drinks and fancy fruity foods.

Next is Elusive. Elusive is an Arabian unicorn. He is 5' 6'' and 30. He is the oldest out of everyone. Elusive is a fashion designer like Rarity, but while Rarity is primarily a feminine fashion designer who designs dresses and gowns, Elusive designs suits and tuxedos. He primarily designs fashion for the bulkier figures of stallions.

And finally there's Dusk Shine. Dusk Shine is a 27 year old Arabian unicorn, only slightly older than Fluttershy. He is 5' 4''. Dusk Shine is a librarian. He works very hard and puts off other things such as hygene (Hense the messy mane and tail) and eating, 'cause who needs to eat, so he can keep working on his studies in his spare time instead.

I want to start making more art for other fandoms like My Little Pony and Pokemon, but I'm not sure. Should I just stick to Undertale? Would you guys be interested in other fandoms? Let me know.
