Thoughts on gender? As a concept, and your own relationship with it (if you don't mind disclosing).
I don't mind one bit. As a matter of fact, it might be enlightening for some of you, and who am I to deny you all the opportunity to better your sad selves?
Ahem... I'll put it under a cut, to avoid the unpleasant aesthetic of a wall of text.
Arcosian gender presents rather differently than for dimorphic species like your own, so it'd be difficult for me to get into without a bit of explanation. Keep in mind most of what's considered "standard" is information I gathered from my father and those few Arcos I've interacted with personally, as well as archival information, because I've spent precious little time among my own kind.
For a normal Arcosian individual, sexual differentiation is much more complex than for a mammal or other dimorph; all Arcos are sexually neutral at birth and possess both types of gonad, developing to lean one way or the other according to genetic factors, androgen exposure during pubescence, personal psychology influencing development (due to inherent PSI), etc, etc... there are infinite possible variations, so gender is entirely separate from sex. The default phraseology among Arcos is largely gender-neutral, leaning toward male.
As far as my own development went, I present more similarly to what a dimorph might call 'female', even though it A) doesn't matter and B) has no bearing on anything outside of which mode of reproduction is easier to achieve except for MAYBE my height and weight.
Now, with all that out of the way, my understanding of gender and gendered relations came largely from other species, since my upbringing was highly politicized. It was only once foreign diplomats started referring to me with gendered terms during summits (bear in mind I was around 6 or 7 years old at the time) that I realized how unpleasant it was to hear things like 'princess' or 'lady'. My father's proclivity for making public appearances in his second form was much the same, from what I understand. Feminine terms have only ever been used to degrade me, so I shed them much like one would an outgrown skin.
I think in Common I would be referred to as a transgender man, though that term doesn't entirely fit, either. I'm "Lord Frieza." There's really nothing much else to it.
