i think a depressing truth of the internet ill always hate is that negativity is what leads to success

negativity, in forms of content creation, leads to comments of people arguing or saying "but i like that thing". comments lead to the algorithms of social media boosting said piece of comic. algorithm favoring your stuff leads to more views. views get you money

often times, i think most youtubers and tiktokers and people on twitter and whatnot actually force themselves to be negative out of necessity. because its the quickest and easiest way to get a post out there. and its really become a norm in social media thats made the internet suffocatingly bad lately

like.. take pokemon for example, youtubers and tiktokers and twitter users such talking about pokemon will complain to no end about graphics, taking the worst possible screenshots they can get or setting up elaborate glitches so they can take a picture, put it next to another game with the prettiest picture they can get, and then go "WOW CAN U BELIEVE GAMEFREAK MAKES STUFF LIKE THIS" which then starts arguments and spreads like a wildfire because people are pointing out "wow you really took the worst picture you could huh" but then random people desperate to argue go "UHHH GAMEFREAKS NOT GONNA MARRY U DUDE LOL" blah blah blah

or take some specific youtubers for instance, like videogamedunkey is a critic who usually lies about video games he dislikes, makes up stuff or complains about really little stuff, or tries to get glitches to happen to pretend the whole games like that. a reallyyy scummy youtuber but thats literally what he has to do to make money and that sucks! or like... alpharad whos kind of just an obnoxious jerk all the time and thats how he gets his attention because being a jerk gets you comments and comments get you views etc etc

i think the only generally positive gaming youtuber i know of who actually had a big following was chuggaaconroy, and he was making videos on youtube for MANY MANYYY years to even just get 1 million subscribers.

and then he got cancelled because of... uh... a chatlog from 2009. and... uh...... some out of context discord messages from some youtuber whos been known to falsely accuse autistic people to get allegations on them. and.... apparently some randos named antdude and missfushigaming made up allegations to get some clout but they got proved false... uhh... and also chuggaaconroy went to therapy, apologized a ton, asked everyone to please not harass the accusers, and has been deeply working for years to work on himself because he did have a geniune falling out with masaeanela over him not following set boundaries.

but.... yeahhhh its. uh. when you point out "wow did anything bad happen beyond a falling out with masaeanela" you're kind of just quickly hushed by a bunch of random people and to accept it and quit. they can't afford for that positivity to change the way things are, they need negativity to thrive.

its.. the internet trying its hardest to push down one positive creator who made it so they can hype up a dozen negative ones.

i think the internet has always awarded negativity but it was never really bad. like.. many youtubers back in the day would make top 10s, listing something like "zelda bosses" or "gen 4 pokemon". these were great because they got to gush about something they like, BUT they'd get comments and arguments because of things like "well i would've put ths boss over that boss" or "why isnt crobat on this list!". it worked great because they got clout from comments, but they weren't being actively negative

or, talking about an internet show i LOVE, death battle! this is a fun show where they take two fictional characters and make them fight! and they research to see who wins and have really great animation!

it thrived because not only is it super good, but it causes arguments. most viewers dont care about the real reasoning and numbers, they just want their prefered character to win. so if there preference loses, even if its right, they will get mad and argue, causing comments which cause views which causes success.

unfortunately, the positive ways to get comments just... hardly last. its sad but in the modern internet, being mad and angry is literally how you succeed. its near impossible to make it online if you arent angry or doing stuff to upset people.

it sucks. so much.

and it sucks even more because people trying to make a living on the internet Have to be negative. thats how they make a living. they literally have to complain to make money and survive and it sucks!! so much!!!!!!!!!

Hope I'm doing this right- this is for the RedactedAudio Match-up :)

1 - Ok so I have 2 song fixations, first one is "Used to the Darkness" by Des Rocs and the other is "Morning Coffee" by Chevy and Nalba

For Used to the Darkness the specific verse is the chorus, it's a bit long for tumblr but I'll give my reasoning. I've always loved this kind of rock because it reminds me of the 90s rebellion kind of era and this verse strikes me as 'society has forced me down by its standards and is leaving me in the dust because I've "made a mistake", but I'm going to fight because my life hasn't started yet and I'm too young to simply give up'. Every time I hear that chorus it gives me a second wind of sorts and reminds me to just keep going, to keep being stubborn and to keep being me unapologetically.

For Morning Coffee there is no specific line because I resonate with the whole song lol. I'm a very big coffee addict, like I need coffee or tea every day to make it feel right. The reason being is that it's a small comfort treat to help me feel better especially when some days just aren't the best and I need a pick me up to feel better, even if it's a little bit. I listen to this every morning on my commute and every afternoon on the way back home, it's such a big comfort song that I keep on repeat.

2 - 6! (subtype sp) 3 - I love a good video essay! My favourite ones are a bit niche but I especially love SovietWomble's essay about "The Forest" because it's a deep dive critique and explanation of what happens when lore is added to a game post-release and why it's so important to develop it as a whole rather than doing it in bits as it can be the difference of an amazing or completely underwhelming experience. As someone who writes for fun and loves to play games soley for the lore sometimes, I found it useful to develop and hone my skills in world-building and making my stories more coherent. Also because he did a face reveal at the end BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT!

4 - Gosh I haven't talked about my imaginary friend in a bit, her face evades me but I remember she would always help me sleep or play with me when no one else did (so everyday basically). She always wore a yellow dress and had her hair up in pigtails. I never gave her a name because she never needed one, I just called her 'friend', I miss her

5 - Put on a redacted audio vid and fall asleep to that lmfao (usually a david vid)

And letting Yuma and Astral take this duel over is just an egregious slap in the face lmfao

Especially how the show chooses to handle Kaito passing out and everything following when he finally returns to consciousness that just makes him essentially a step up from background character

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack (1988) Utterly obvious to die girlies auf tumblr but don’t worry, it’s the only franchise gatekeepy one. God tier animation, OST that gives me heart palpitations, plot symbolically rich in a way that draws me back. Absurdly ambitious and largely pulls it off. Insane. Phantom of the Paradise (1974) I’m a sucker for leitmotifs being re-contextualized and this movie is exactly that. I think a lotta people are put off by musicals because they expect Glee shit, so a horror rock opera that plays w genres is a style that slaps. In fact, it’s style over substance to the point that while the character Beef was made with homophobic intent(?), he makes for killer camp. So influential it buried its own grave deeper, but when my drag career continues proper I WILL have it step out of RHPS’s shadow. Magnetic Rose (1995) This one’s arguably cheating, it’s a short film within a theatrical omnibus and the only one of the trio I rewatch, lol. Better experienced than described, but iirc it’s the first screenplay credit of Satoshi Kon and his style benefits the conceit greatly. The space physics are top tier too. Bound (1996) Genre fiction that fucks. Akira (1988) After watching this for the first time, I wore a rip of it on a USB necklace for like a good month, lol. If you’ve seen so many homages and #aesthetic gifs that its memetically weakened, the manga will be a better vehicle for experiencing the actual plot and themes. (Kaneda isn’t a cool protag! He’s not even in it for a full volume!) But I fortunately got to go into it w next to no preconceptions. Tampopo (1985) One of those art-house pics that’s fun to general audiences. hey, sending this anonymously because i try to avoid the prying eyes of the weird fe fans when i can- but stumbled across your blog recently and had to tell you i appreciate it! you have a lot of the same insights to the games (both old and new) that i do, and it was a relief to find someone who can see through a lot of the bullshit writing/localization in games like fe16 and isnt afraid to point out how ridiculous the treatment of some characters and story lines are. i got very seriously harassed on fire emblem twitter during 2019 when 3h released and i was vocal about my disdain for edelgard and her route, so finding this corner of tumblr where people don't pull any punches calling out the racism and antisemitic vibes of the whole thing is refreshing.

It's kind of sad we can't exchange or talk without going all "anon" like, and while I want to say it's exclusively because of the FE16 wank, imo it's a deeper current in the fandom, where some people just don't know how to enjoy things without ruining other people's enjoyment anymore!

Like sure, if there's something you disagree with, usually you'd make a reply, and then they're would be discussion, and ultimately everyone would part ways and joke about memes or something stupid, but now it's full on insults, spam asks and harassment...

I remember an old meme around circulating on SF that would be posted each time someone started a topic with "am i the only one who thinks X is better than Y" or something, and each time there'd be a person going all "yes you're the only one of the millions of internet users around the net lol"

But sure, in 2019 it was a bit, uh, complicated to have dissenting opinions because everyone bought a certain narrative and refused to consider anything else no matter where you went, so at least I thought on Tumblr I could post whatever I wanted without attracting the downvote pogroms from redshit or that one posted who posted each day for several weeks a post on the 3H topic about how Supreme Leader is good ackshually - but apparently even Tumblr isn't a safespace anymore, since people were harassed out of the general FE community!

Still, fwiw, I'll still be there to enjoy the things I like about the Fodlan verse, and let others enjoy the things they like about the Fodlan verse, and that's it and make fire jokes

12. Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

I don't think so? Like I said in here, I tend to be more inspired by the potential than the reality so I kind of latch onto the little what-ifs or threads that aren't followed up on rather than wholesale episodes. And boy, there are a lot of loose threads to pull at in Titans lmao.

(That said, I have watched season 2 episode 7 so so many times because it is absolutely chock full of those threads.

Why is Deathstroke the Terminator's plan A high-school level psychological torture? Why are a bunch of adults so ready to turn on a teenager who has no conceivable way of knowing any of the information used against them?? (In fact, why does Slade even know that Donna's dead ex used to give her orange soda? That's so fuckin obscure !!!) They drive an already traumatized teenager to the brink of suicide and it's NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN WHAT. Jason was kidnapped, held captive, stabbed, and then dropped off a building and only saved by a freak coincidence and NOBODY EVEN ASKS IF HE'S OKAY!! Dick sort of half-arsedly tries, but he's *also* having a mental break and hallucinating and he's so fucking casual about it??

This episode is SO *MUCH* and also the Bruce hallucinations are hilarious "Does anybody need anything? Milk? Eggs? BoDy BaGs?")

17. Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

Both? Both.

I'm the kind of neurodivergent who has to write stuff down or I forget, so my notes app is full of random sentences and dialogue exchanges, I have bullet point plot notes down on paper all over the place, sometimes when I need a break from one fic I'll start a later scene from the same work in a different doc etc etc. So sometimes I'll be hit with a sudden idea for a scene or a breakthrough for a longer fic while I'm at work or on the bus or whatever and *have* to write it down *immediately*.

But when I actually sit down with my laptop to write, I have to go through it in order. Start at the beginning, edit what I've already written, and work through beat by beat, pulling up my other notes as and when I need them.

35. Would you ever kill off a canon character?

I, hm. I haven't so far, I don't think. I have, in fact, brought several characters back to life lol (yay, supernatural!).

I don't want to say I *never* would, because I'm not against it as a general plot choice, but it'd have to fit the story. Since I default to Fix-it fics and hopeful endings, lets say it's unlikely.

What sleep schedule? LOL But no, really. Danny barely gets any time to sleep. Between keeping up with his regular responsibilities as a teen with chores and keeping Amity Park safe from Ghosts... he might get an hour or two of sleep if he’s lucky. Usually that happens... at his desk in school... much to his teachers’ dismay. Additionally, he’s a very light sleeper. It doesn’t take much to wake him. On the very rare occasion he COULD get a full nights sleep... he actually is very likely to wake up from night terrors. Usually involving memories of his own death in the Fenton Portal or nightmares involving a canon bad ending alternate ending version of himself. (This is Dan Phantom, or Dark Danny)

🎨 - What’s their favorite color?

Danny has a lot of candidates for his favorite color. One might assume Red, since he wears a splash of it on his shirt. But, his room is uniformly .... BLUE. I know this is because it’s easier on the animation team. I go with blue. Night sky blue, specifically. If he could he would just say ‘galaxy’ as a favorite color option, however. 

🖌️ - Do they have any hobbies?

The short answer? Absolutely.  The long answer? HERE.

He wouldn’t say no the either of them. But out of the two he likes coffee more. It doesn’t really help keep him awake, but it’s tasty with the right amount of cream/milk/sugar.

🧸 - Do they have any stuffed animals? If so, are they decorative or do they sleep with them?

Yes! It’s a combination of the two. Most are decorative, but for the small amount of sleep he does get, it can help to stave off the nightmares to have contact with something. (there are some in his pinterest board for his bedroom. :3)

💀 - How do they feel about horror movies?

He finds most of them inaccurate or cheesy, but for him that’s part of the charm. Overall he really likes them though. He doesn’t really scare easily considering what he is and what his daily life is like. so It would take more psychological horror types of movies to actually make him feel some sense of dread.

Danny loves amusement parks! Especially if he has someone to enjoy the park with. His favorite rides are usually the biggest coasters or the Ferris wheels.

He doesn’t particularly like being in the rain. But he likes the sound of it. He likes the sound of thunder too. seeing lightning? Not so much. Reminds him a little too much of when he died.

That entirely depends on the situation and subject matter. School presentation? About something he doesn’t particularly care for? He’ll probably do terrible. About something he loves? He’ll do great. If it’s to inspire others, it depends on if there’s some kind of immediate danger. He tries harder if it means others will be safer for it. 

🤡 - What’s something dumb they’re embarrassed about?

Well, his family. There’s two sides to this coin, however. He’s embarrassed by them. And also embarrassed he may not measure up to their intellect. It’s difficult to not see other people in town make fun of his parents and not take notice of it. On the other hand, Danny rightfully considers his family to be geniuses.

💝 - What gestures do they really appreciate? How do you get on their good side?

The thing here is... there aren’t many that he doesn’t appreciate. Any kind of positive gesture depending on who you are (really as long as you aren’t Vlad Masters) will work for him. He likes hugs/touch, gifts, words of affirmation or validation. He just craves positive relationships with others, platonic or otherwise.... likely because he doesn’t get much of it outside of his very very small friend group and family.

Why he’s so disliked.  He understands why Phantom isn’t. To the people of Amity Park Phantom is just another trouble making ghost, especially after he was framed for kidnapping their old mayor.  What he won’t ever understand is why the people of Amity Park, his peers at school especially, dislike Danny Fenton so much. For sometime, he thought maybe it was the family he came from. After all, people openly mocked and made fun of them for their career choice. (even though ghost hunters are so sorely needed in this place. :/ ) But, Danny decided there must just be something wrong with him personally. Mostly because nobody seemed to hold the same level of disdain for his sister as they did for him.

That is one BIIIG Milestone reached, so even if you can't complete the full game, you're definitely ready to upload a fully fledged demo👌be proud yourself, you definitely deserved it bro, and about length, I think it's a good amount, considering the short timeframe you had to work on it.

Also don't even worry about character arcs, as long as your story has Beginning/Build Up/Climax/End you're good to go 👍. Sometimes it's better when you don't have everyone's backstory explained to you ya know?

For example Michael Myers, like yeah, we saw him stabbing his sister as a kid, but we sure as hell don't know why exactly he did it and what he went through during his stay at Smith's Grove Sanitarium, yet he still managed to be one of the biggest horror icons today. (I'm strictly speaking about the OG Movie btw, idk shit about what they did to him in the sequels)

Sometimes, just some cool shit happening is enough for a story, it's not like we're expecting a full on 24 episode Anime in LN form either 🤷‍♀️ also considering that it IS a Yandere Story, having sympathy for the LIs falls a bit short, when they're probably gonna go full sicko mode on us somewhere in their routes 0_0"
