It's always funny to me that among the Ladybug fandom (at least in english) people refers to Marinette as "Mari", because in spanish "Mari" is the short form of "María" and in my case I always associated that to midle age and elder women. Like in my neighbourhood when I was kid there was this elder women to whom all the kids called "grandma Mari".

And I don't know if it is because in english "Mari" sounds something fancy or original (since I'm an english foreigner speaker), but in my country "Mari" is more old-fashioned.
