if i had the time, knowledge, and resources i would absolutely be making “artisanal furbies” right now. 100% natural materials. ceramic faceplates with underglaze colours, mohair faux fur like steiff bears have, stuffed with cotton (sawdust would be hilarious but the weight and feel would be awful), maybe some with leather bodies and others with wool and fussy embroidery and block printing, definitely some furby purses and backpacks. but i don’t so i’m not

#i’m not even hugely big on furbies i just mildly like them. this is more like… experimental funtimes project that’s easier than dollmaking #the fact that most dolls and plushies are plastic really sours my enjoyment of dolls and toys and is part of why i’m on a bisque/compo kick #so ridiculously high-effort ways to avoid plastic while recreating a fucking furby really appeal to me artistically. #and their design is just cute and it’s a nice small canvas for some fun prints and textures #txt
