Disbelief
Disbelief
The back of Adrien’s head hit the wall behind him, as his father slammed him against it. Gabriel glared down at him; a knife clenched in his hand.
“This,” Hissed Gabriel, keeping Adrien pressed against the wall, “this is all your fault.”
“Father-” Gabriel cut Adrien off by smacking him with the back of his hand.
“You’re the reason for all of this,” Growled Gabriel, “if she hadn’t made you, she’d still be here. I’d still have my wife and Nathalie.”
Adrien shook as Gabriel raise the knife he was holding.
“Don’t worry.” Sneered Gabriel, “Senti-Monsters don’t bleed.”
He plunged the knife into Adrien’s shoulder, making him cry out. Gabriel drew the knife back and slammed it into Adrien’s arm. He then aimed the knife at Adrien’s throat, when a massive force slammed into him from behind. Gabriel glared up at Adrien’s bodyguard, and then to Nathalie, who was guiding a hunched-over Adrien out of the room. A hunched-over, bleeding, Adrien.
‘Gorilla’ glared down at Gabriel, before stomping on his head with enough force to knock the man out.

Nathalie did her best to console Adrien, treat the stab wounds and contact the emergency services. Adrien was hyperventilating.
“He was going to kill me. He was going to kill me.” Adrien sobbed the words out, constantly repeating and attempting to rock himself.
Nathalie gave up on trying to treat the wounds and, instead, pulled Adrien close to her and held him as he broke down further.
“Gorilla,” Said Nathalie, when she noticed Adrien’s bodyguard, “stay with Adrien, keep pressure on the stab wounds, I need to make sure that thing is secured.”
‘Gorilla’ grunted and gently grabbed Adrien and held him. Nathalie headed to Gabriel’s office as quickly as she could, picking up a deceptively heavy, small trophy as she went. Opening the door, she spotted Gabriel trying to crawl to his desk, where all the miraculous were kept. Nathalie glared and stormed over to Gabriel, raising the trophy over her head and swung it down.
There was a sickening crack, as Gabriel was knocked unconscious once more. Nathalie grabbed a bag and hastily shoved the miraculous into it, quietly muttering an apology to the Kwami, before slinging it over her shoulder. Nathalie noticed blue flashing lights, before she rolled Gabriel over and took the butterfly miraculous from him. Nathalie made her way over to the safe and took the spell book and it’s translated version and placed them in the bag with the miraculous.
Nathalie took a deep breath, walked over to Gabriel and gave him a hard kick to the crotch. Within ten minutes, Nathalie was with Adrien on the way to the hospital.

Marinette stared at the bag Alya had given her. All the missing miraculous, excluding the peacock, was in it, along with both versions of the spell book. Marinette slowly made eye contact with Alya, before both girls turned and looked at Nathalie.
“Adrien’s Dad, was Monarch?” Asked Marinette, dumbfounded.
“Yes.” Was Nathalie’s clipped response.
“And you were Mayura?”
“Yes.”
“And Monarch thought Adrien was a Senti-Monster?”
“Yes.”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Because he tried to kill Adrien.” Stated Nathalie, her tone short.
“What, by exposing him to horrible fashion sense?” Snarked Alya, getting a glare from Marinette.
“No, by stabbing him.” Nathalie, rounded on Alya, “You said would take me to Ladybug.”
“One last question, how did Gabriel get the miraculous?” Asked Marinette, after hearing Su Han land on her balcony.
“Félix traded them to get the Peacock miraculous,” Said Nathalie, folding her arms, “Emilie created him after she found out that her sister was sterile.”
Marinette felt her jaw drop open, before Su Han knocked on her window. Marinette was staring at Nathalie, while Alya went to let the Guardian in. The three all stared at Marinette, as she slowly connected the dots.
“Where do they live?” Marinette asked, slowly. Her face taking on a deep red hue.

Gabriel glared at the door of his cell, Adrien was his son, his! What right did they have to keep him from him? He’d explain everything to Adrien, he’d understand.
Gabriel absently noted that he’d have to fire Gorilla, and Nathalie too, for that matter. Nathalie was the only one who knew where he kept the Miraculous.
The sliding door snapped open on his cell door, a police officer glared at him.
“Someone’s paid your bail.” Grumbled the police officer, “You’re not allow within 100 meters of your son, if you violate that, we’re bringing you back in.”
Gabriel was led out to the front desk, where he spotted Tomoe Tsurugi waiting for him.
“Madame Tsurugi.” Smirked Gabriel, the woman jerked her head, gesturing him to follow her.
“I’ve lost one of my investors because of this.”
“If they couldn’t see the injustice, then they weren’t worthy of supporting you.”
“Or you.” Snapped Tomoe, “The Chengs made their stance very clear, apparently, the Riccas are planning on ceasing their support of you.”
Gabriel froze, the Chengs and the Riccas. He was sure they were important, somehow, he just couldn’t remember how.
“Kagami stormed off over this,” Stated Tomoe, “I’ll be restricting her privileges when I find her.”
“Surely you can track her phone.”
“She left it behind.”
Gabriel frowned, before spotting Amélie waiting outside the police station for him.
“Mrs. Fathom-” Amélie slapped Gabriel, hard.
“How could you?!”
“For what?” Demanded Gabriel, as Amélie heaved.
“You sent that, that thing after Félix.” Snarled Amélie, “I was lucky that ‘Guardian’ was there to contain it.”
“What thing?” Demanded Gabriel, already knowing Nathalie would’ve taken the miraculous to Ladybug.
“That Kawaii thing.”
Gabriel seethed, before spotting Ladybug crouching on a roof. Ladybug glared at Gabriel, she wanted to go down to him and break his neck, but that would cause more problems that it would solve.
Ladybug swung her yoyo and swung away, heading towards the hospital where Adrien was.
They managed to get Gorilla away from Adrien and calm him down, so his wounds could be treated. Adrien tried not to flinch as a nurse ran a cotton bud over one of the cuts. The doctors had done some tests, one of them fuming at how he was malnourished. Adrien had received a funny look when he apologized for it.
There was a thudding sound as Marinette ran into the door to his hospital room. She rubbed her nose as she came through the door.
“I came as soon as I heard.” Said Marinette, making Adrien look behind her.
“Where’s everyone else?” Asked Adrien, quietly.
“They’re still asleep, they don’t know yet, well Kagami knows and she’s staying at my home” Explained Marinette, “I mean, the only reason I know is because I was awake and I was awake because I have no life, which is kinda funny and I’m going to stop talking.”
Adrien looked at her.
“Do you, ahem,” Marinette coughed, “do you want a hug?”
Adrien nodded, prompting Marinette to awkwardly wrap her arms around him. Neither of them said anything, not while Adrien was breaking down.

Gabriel grunted as he was ushered into a cell.
“You have no right to do this.” Snarled Gabriel, as an officer shut the door in his face.
“You violated the terms of your bail,” Said the Officer, pinching the bridge of her nose, “you were explicitly told not to be within 100 meters of Adrien and the first thing you did was try and get into his hospital room.”
“He’d my son, I have a right to see him.” Protested Gabriel, as the Officer growled.
“That right was suspended when you tried to murder him.”
“How was I to know he wasn’t a Senti-monster?”
The Officer frowned and looked at him, “What the hell has this got to do with any of this?”
Gabriel froze, before abruptly sitting down on the cells bed and ignoring the Officer’s questions.
D
Ladybug skidded to a halt in front of Detective Jonas, the older woman clearly nursing a headache, “I’m going to feel bad later.”
“Let me guess, you have an idea on Monarch’s identity.” Said Jonas, getting a wince from Ladybug.
“One better, I know who he is.” Retorted Ladybug, making Jonas’s head snap up and stare at her, “Gabriel Agreste, Mayura literally handed all the Miraculous to me.”
Jonas stared at her, “And where’s Mayura now?”
“She’s being examined by the Celestial Guardian.” Answered Ladybug, before noticing the blank stare from Jonas, “My superior, believe it or not, I do have to answer to someone.”
“Who was she?” Asked Jonas, frowning.
“His assistant,” Responded Ladybug, “we think she worked with him because of a broken Miraculous.”
“We’ll still need to question her.”
“I know.”
Jonas led Ladybug inside the station and took her to an interrogation room, where Gabriel was handcuffed to a table.
“You!” Snarled Gabriel, attempting to lunge forwards.
“Gabriel, or do you prefer Hawkmoth?” Said Ladybug, her voice cold.
“Where is my son?!” Demanded Gabriel, as Ladybug leaned against the wall next to the door.
“Safe, away from you.”
“He is my son; you have no right to keep him from me!” Snarled Gabriel, attempting to lunge towards Ladybug again.
“You tried to kill him while under the delusion that he was an Amok.” Said Ladybug, folding her arms across her chest, “He was lucky that his bodyguard was nearby, otherwise you’d be hanging from the ceiling from your own entrails.”
“I didn’t know he wasn’t a Senti-monster!”
“That’s beside the point, Amoks are living, breathing beings. Sure, they don’t bleed and have a ridiculously high tolerance to pain, but for intents and purposes, they are alive.” Snarled Ladybug, growling at Gabriel, “You’ve murdered innocent people, just to get your hands on some fucking jewellery!”
Gabriel stared up at Ladybug, the short girl suddenly very imposing.
“Don’t you want to know why I wanted them?” Asked Gabriel, smirking up Ladybug.
“Nathalie already told us,” Retorted Ladybug, “Emilie’s been taken to the hospital to have her condition assessed. We’ve turned your lair upside down and inside out, we’ve found your allies and we’ve made sure everything you have is frozen.”
Ladybug turned on her heel and stalked away, stopping at the door, “Do you want to know the really funny part? If you’d asked, we would’ve helped. We would’ve found a way to bring her back without any of this happening.”
Ladybug left the interrogation room, leaving Gabriel to wallow in his despair.

Su Han frowned as he waved his staff over Emilie.
“This is very strange,” murmured Su Han, “This level of damage could only be done by…”
Su Han placed his staff on the ground. Marinette stared at him.
“Master, what are you talking about?” Asked Marinette, making Su Han look at her.
“There’s a prison beneath Paris, one that was designed to follow any Guardian to their present location.” Sighed Su Han, “It hold a circle of Miraculous that must never be used.”
“Circle?” Questioned Marinette, as Adrien looked in through the window.
“The Miraculous are sorted into Circles, The ones you’ve seen are the Gods Circle, the Guardian Circle, the Zodiac Circle and the Freedom Circle. The War, Healing and Justice Circles are active to a limited degree.”
“What’s the circle under Paris?” Asked Marinette, frowning.
“The Death Circle, I assume you can understand why it’s been placed there?”
“T-to stop the dead from rising?”
“Yes, now stay here,” Said Su Han, “I’m going to check the cells.”
Marinette and Adrien watched Su Han depart, before looking at Emilie.
“Tikki, is there anything you can do?” Asked Marinette, as the Kwami settled on her head.
Tikki shook her head, making Adrien frown. Marinette looked at Adrien, “How’d it go?”
“The trial was quick,” Said Adrien, “it was practically open and shut.”
“How’s Gorilla like his new voice?” Asked Marinette, making Adrien glance back at Gorilla.
“I think he’s still getting used to it, but he’s coping.” Responded Adrien, looking at Marinette, “All the other human-like amoks are settling down. Senti-bug’s started calling herself Bridgette, though, she’s referring to herself in the third person.”
“As long as they’re settling in.” Murmured Marinette, looking back at Emilie, “I’m taking they’ve started changing their appearances and interests, if only to differentiate themselves from the people they’re based on.”
Adrien hummed, before leaning against Marinette, “What if she can’t be saved?”
Marinette was silent, before leaning into Adrien’s embrace, “Then we do our best to honour her.”
They’d completed their task, Hawkmoth was defeated, the Miraculous were now in their possession and everyone could breathe easy. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen?
