GDQ has been on the brain for over a year now and the most recent SGDQ was hype as hell. They even read my donation during the Super Metroid Kaizo run! :D
What happened here? I don't watch gdq /NitroX72/status/1538641994506874880?s=20&t=7tJY7w7Han2u3m5H-8bV-Q
Sorry for delaying the ask, this took a while to research because so much information is being scrubbed.
nes_ is a twitch streamer and qualified for GDQ (Games Done Quick) 2022, a charity organization for streaming videogames. On a Juneteenth hotfix stream, he streamed a run of Chunithm on a PC emulator live in front of nearly 18k viewers.
This wouldn't be a problem except the software was pirated and illegally obtained and told gdq he was playing on an arcade cabinet. People tried to warn them on stream that the game was illegally obtained, but got banned from chat after explaining their distress (This is a fake account, but many people were banned in a similar fashion)
GDQ then scrubbed all clips pertaining to the stream and trimmed the replay, but here's one of them explaining how he was able to play on PC:
After the stream and tons of backlash, GDQ issued a statement regarding the illegally obtained game on stream.
Nes_ has stopped streaming for the past few days and the original broadcast has yet to be found, but many consider this to leave a negative mark on the public perception of the rhythm game community.
It's time for #sgdq2022 ! This summer's marathon benefits Doctors Without Borders. It's one of our favorite things to watch every summer! @gamesdonequick #gamesdonequick https://www.instagram.com/p/CfRlrIVraXV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I've submitted some prizes for Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) this year. The Charity has started today and if you want to win a Sad Charmander or some keycaps (pokemon, hollow knight, kirby), donate to a good cause for a chance to win.

Jsyk from now til Sunday, I'll be following a french video game speedrun charity marathon, they'll be speedrunning 70 games of all ages in 79h non stop, with different goals and conditions, raising money for the Médecins du Monde NGO (Doctors of the world)!
It's similar to the GamesDoneQuick if you're familiar w it, and it's organized by the guy who first casted it in France :)
