Unable to resist, you tried to slowly approach him without making any sound, trying your best to catch him by surprise and when you came close enough to him you interrupted his daydreaming with a tender forehead kiss.

"What was that for?" he laughed, his response oozing with self-assurance. And to be fair his smug demeanour grated on your nerves, you just gave him a forehead kiss and he reacted like that? No, way! He needed a reality check!

"If you didn't appreciate it, I'll just find Deuce and shower him with forehead kisses instead!" you told him, enjoying the surprise in Ace's widened eyes. Unwilling to back down, he rolled his eyes and stood up.

"Go ahead! Kiss the entire school's forehead! See if I care." Those words struck a chord, prompting you to turn on your heel and leave him to his own devices. You were going to make him regret saying those words.

As soon as you kiss his forehead, he becomes a mess. He touches the spot you just kissed, trying to form any coherent words. Just show him your forehead and tap it, as if telling him to kiss you back, he turns red but kisses you as quickly as he sees you gesture for him to kiss you, as if he always wanted to do that. His hand cups your face, tenderly caressing your cheeks without even thinking.

He daydreams about these moments for the next few weeks.

I'll be quite honest with everyone, I've been dreading and avoiding to post about my Lacka Oc for a while now and show it to the public. I've been nervous and scared to do this, due to past experiences I've had in the past with other fandoms I've been in. And not only that, it's also because I'm not an experienced artist or an artist at all, and all of the artwork I've got of my Oc is done by other talented artists, not me. And I feel like most people wouldn't care much to see this, because I'm showing and sharing artwork of my Oc that wasn't even drawn by me even though I created her.

Plus, along with the fact that I was extremely worried and concerned that I would probably be bullied and judged (again, due to past experiences) or that my Oc would end up being ignored and not given much attention, or would just end up being stolen by somebody who will try and claim it as their own, which has happened a lot to me actually when being in fandoms I used to be a part of years ago. An Open Letter to the Danger Days Tumblr Community:

Now that you’ve read that overdramatic title and are wondering who fucked up, I have something to say about the Danger Days Tumblr community: I Love You.

Danger Days was the first fandom I ever posted for on any site. All the way back in middle school (ho-ly shit). And let me tell you what I found out even way back when: this is not an easy fandom to be in.

For one, most people don’t even know it exists. For two, even less know it in the way it’s been cultivated on Tumblr. Almost every single person has such a niche interpretation of every little detail, that it’s impossible to draw a line through any two versions of the story. Which is a fact I personally love, but I also think it scares a lot of people away. You have to work to be in this fandom. Both as a passive and active fan. It requires patience and tolerance for disappointment.

But that’s exactly why I want to encourage everyone who creates and everyone who listens to Keep Doing That. Like I cannot stress this enough, that is what keeps this fandom and IP alive. Danger Days as a universe would be absolutely nothing without fan work (re: the California Comics), especially a decade later. Without fans who care about this story way more than it has warranted us to care, it would be six feet under. And sometimes I really think that’s what it deserves (and maybe the writers think that as well), but for the life of me I just can’t let that happen. I’ve tried to let this fucking thing go, believe me.

And funny enough, that exact feeling is evidenced by the community on this site too. Which has changed faces almost completely from what it was three years ago for better and less better in some cases. And it’s something I still struggle with adjusting to, but I look at the tag daily. I look everyone’s posts and blogs and art and effort. If you have posted even once in the dd tag my eyes have 100% seen it. So even if I still feel a little out of place, like a ghost of fandom’s past, at least I know everybody. And I know people feel the same way: No rest for the wicked.

When I reanimated from my fandom coma I was fully expecting to find that the community had gone extinct. Partially because all the blogs I used to frequent had straight up died in the three years I was gone. But I pulled up to the gates of the Danger Days tag like Rick Grimes outside of Alexandria, fully expecting to be devastated, only to find New People tilling the fucking field. And it didn’t matter that I now had no idea who any of you people were, it was The Most welcoming thing ever.

I’ll be the first to tell you this fandom bares almost no resemblance to the one I left, and I’m not going to lie and say it’s better now, but the foundation didn’t get blown away in the storm. That’s what I find uniquely profound. That everyone here still wants to try. And that makes me really want to try. And I’m sure everyone would agree that there is often little reward for the effort; but that’s precisely my point in saying all this shit. That even despite the not fun aspects, we all still clock in; and there’s a new post, headcanon, drawing, or fic every freaking day. It’s commendable, really.

If you’re lurking, or post sometimes but feel afraid to actually take a leap here because (the fandom is comparatively tiny to the greater MCR fandom) you’ll be way more out there, and the already established figureheads of the fandom will definitely see your stuff: post post post. This is my formal endorsement to Just Post That Shit. And Interact With That Shit. I spent a year gathering the courage to publish the tiniest thing while behind the scenes I literally wrote about 60+ works. You have to respect your own creativity and trust that other people will give it the time of day.

So do not feel crazy or discouraged about your ideas here! Like we literally need them to function, I would not be here if it wasn’t for all the people three years ago who just posted all their thoughts about Danger Days. About everything. Obscure or not. It’s truly a gift that this fandom has attracted people who are willing to work their brains because the original creators let it fall flat. I cannot tell you how much being in this fandom has actually helped me out in my writing and analysis skills.

So yeah. I fucking love this fandom, I love being in it and I love seeing that people are still stoking the flames. I wanted to say all this crap because I knew I’d be able to articulate it for the people who can relate but don’t want to be the first to say it. Which is okay, understandable. As I said earlier this fandom is like yelling your thoughts out into a very echoey room that only has a few people in it. So I’ll shout first and maybe it’ll make other people more comfortable to shout back.

My name is Rocky (they/them; 26 y/o)! I'm updating my pinned post now that I have a bit more of an idea of what I actually do here!

This blog is mostly about vampires. An embarrassing amount of vampires. Mostly Curse of Strahd, but also re:Dracula/Daily Dracula, Castlevania, and whatever the current Vampire of the Week is on this site. I like horror in general, particularly horror podcasts like The Magnus Archives, The Silt Verses, SCP Archives, etc.

I am getting a PhD in neuroscience. I teach college classes, and I am really, really into the idea of unionizing academia. I'm an activist outside of the internet, so my blog is sort of my place to just chill and try not to think about the fact that the world is burning. I like to talk about myself into the void of tumblr, and you are totally free to respond to any of my posts. The more the merrier.

I will, occasionally, post my own art, and I am trying to build up the courage to post my writing as well!

I play a lot of DnD and post about my characters/the games I play in pretty often. I played a Tatyana PC in Curse of Strahd (hence the URL), and I post about her endlessly. The DM I usually reference is pretty great and runs paid games on StartPlaying if you are into DnD and looking for a table. I am also getting into Magic: The Gathering, and I am looking for friends to play me on Arena.

The Faux Pas au. Everything is the same except for the fact Faux Pas exists in the Tfaverse and is there to solely cause problems and go through problems.

Holoform/Humanformers au. Human Error if it actually happened, but Meltdown, Blackaracnia, and Soundwave are the main causes. All Cybertronians on earth turn into humans and is essentially a huge slice of life sitcom. Focused primarily around Starscream and his redemption arc.

Bounty-22 au. A work in progress, but Cybertronians and humans living in cowboy times. Prowl-centric in a way, him exploring the Wild West looking for vengeance and an artifact while traveling with an outlaw he doesn’t know is an outlaw. (The outlaw is Starscream, the best and worst liar in the west. I just really love Starscream, okay? But never fear, Lockdown plays a huge part in this au too. Because you can’t have cowboys without Lockdown.)

Zombies/Last of Us au. Yes, that’s right. Softbody robots and horrors beyond imagining. Another work in progress, but based around survival and zombies. No, none of the main cast die, I love them too much for that, they deserve their little community during the apocalypse.

Dead Space Au: A newly recruited Tfa Autobot Starscream replaces Isaac Clarke in the events of Dead Space. If you know Dead Space, you know he’s fucked mentally and physically. If you don’t know Dead Space, space zombies and serious fucked up shit. The Thing level horror. Know he is not coming out unscathed.

Tfa Ninjastar Twilight au: Exactly what it sounds like. The werewolves don’t exist here, and Starscream is the human in place of Bella. Takes no shit and runs most of the show because he’s Starscream. Meyer has no power here. I’m highjacking the lore and making all the characters suffer.

dont worry about being too late to learn a new language! just having learned another one when you were younger already helps your brain. the actual biggest barrier you will find is the fact you're already used to being an adult and being able to communicate properly, so it might feel unmotivating to struggle with expressing yourself all of a sudden. dont worry about that, just push through and you will certainly see improvement! as for which language to learn, that depends on what interests you or makes you curious, basing your language choice on other peoples opinions tends to make for a poor motivator. do you have any ideas, or anything in particular you enjoyed learning in your second language?

That's cool to know! Yeah I'm mostly worried about making a fool of myself lol, but if I can gather the courage to post my art in front of a thousand strangers on here I can suck it up and talk a bit stilted for a while until I get more fluent. somewhere between the one-half and two-thirds mark i was gonna murk him. it was going to have all the story weight and be a gorgeous scene (on mount satori, blupees and fairies gathering around him, his malice-induced suffering finally relieved when the lord of the mountain takes his life with the touch of the forehead, i even did art of it, i was seriously planning on writing it). and he was gonna be DEAD. like not even a ghost or anything and never brought back. like he was just gonna be GONE.

i was gonna split up his triforce amongst the others, too, with i think sky getting power, legend getting courage, and wind getting wisdom (there would have been a reason they couldn't use it to bring him back and those three would have been the ones he was closest to. he would have given power to sky because he was so sure sky would have the emotional fortitude to handle his death the best and then be proven utterly wrong very shortly thereafter. i also remember legend would have gotten courage because courage was something hyrule knew he would need in the aftermath of his death. i also think two of his spells were tied to each triforce corner).

obviously i never wrote it, and i don't intend to anymore. it was part of a phase where i was like "nobody writes stories where one of the actual main characters (not like a mentor or a clearly death fodder best friend) dies like halfway through and the others have to continue on and finish the journey without them and don't get them back at the end because that's not how real life works." then i realized why. because they're SAD! like clearly i don't mind writing sad things, but the biggest factor that dissuaded me from doing it was the knowledge that i would have to finish the fic without being able to write hyrule. no more lines from him, no more playing with or experimenting with his character—and i couldn't kill any of them, not just hyrule, because i knew, somehow, deep down, that it wouldn't be doing their characters justice to cut them from the narrative. they all either have something vital to contribute or deserve more screentime to give their characters the depth and complexity they deserve. to quote myself in poltea's dms, "I'm grieving for someone I haven't even killed yet!"

without mentioning anything specific to avoid spoilers, i've written character fakeout deaths before and do you know how HARD it is? i've just taken a fully developed, nuanced, interesting character (if someone isn't those things, then it's not even worth pretending to kill them) and deleted my ability to write them! what?! why would i do that! bring them back i have stuff i want them to do and say! their story isn't over!

so yeah. that's the story of the gut-wrenching quasi-grimdark shameless hyrule MCD fic i didn't write.

and JEEZ i was going to spend so much time building up all these relationships at the beginning because i wanted his death to hurt as much as possible. not just a 1k oneshot where a character gets a pretty death scene and the fics ends, but you really become attached to this world and these people.

and that's why this fic doesn't exist. i literally don't think i could write it. i wouldn't be able to. it's so completely different than committing to keeping legend blind in what hyrule hadn't seen. i just. i can't do it. let the record state that i am too much of a softy to write permanent MCD.

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

uh. see above? it would destroy me but if someone wrote a full novelization of LU where everyone was given depth and complexity and then legitimately, believably, murked one of the nine halfway through and then sat with that grief and forced the boys to deal with it in all their messy, terrible ways, and then ultimately rise above it and save the world, i would read that and sob a lot and hate you for it but i also think it would be something so incredibly powerful.

oh, yeah, another reason i never wrote permanent MCD hyrule fic is that i've been fortunate enough not to have lost anyone incredibly close to me that i was old enough to remember. i feel like it'd be so far out of my comfort zone trying to do justice to emotions i've never fully felt the weight of. maybe i'll re-evaluate if i ever do lose someone and need to work through it somehow, but for now, this fic idea is perma-benched.

X: A character you enjoy making suffer.

i also love bullying legend. specifically because i know he can take it. and he's so SASSY. my question is never if legend can overcome something, but just how he'll manage to pull it off and how brightly i can convincingly get him to smile at the end.

i also also... have a new punching bag. kind of? i'll be playing with him eventually and i really wanna see how much fun i can have shoving him around and seeing how he reacts >:3

Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?

i like reading mcd fics. but long ones. where characters are actually given time to really deal with their grief. that's why i wanted to write the fic described above and why i've read as many mcu fics as i have.

the only deaths i can't tolerate are deaths of characters who didn't feel fully developed. you didn't kill a person, you killed a decorative wall hanging, calm down.

anyway, that's that. i should have (and 100% did) expect these from silver, the angst gremlin themself XD love ya, nerd.

AAAAND another one of my mad AUs

Music? On and rocking Courage? Mustered Dignity? Already waved her goodbye OK i’m ready. Apparently summer, having to study for exams i dislike and most of all reading nice books that send me in hyperfixation with the characters give me IDEAS™. After some time spent convincing myself to do it i’ve finally read The Three Musketeers and having loved it to FOLLY, i CLEARLY devoured also Twenty Years After and started the Viscount  of Bragelonne (Athos, i love you, but we’re not talking of you, forgive me my man). This new obsession tonight coupled with my ever present love for LOTR and Silm and since APPARENTLY heat goes up to my head, i thought:

Ok, here we have Aramis, ridiculously always good looking, even at like... 20 years from the first time we meet him he is THE SAME AS ALWAYS and in the Viscount for the little i know for now he didn’t age much either, Devilishly good with horses AND swords (eggrazziearcazzo, you may say, he’s a MUSKETEER) with almost ZERO impulse control (Athos works as impulse control for them, actually) but GREAT cold blood, can apparently sing quite well, some disregard for rules and some great agility and effort in actually always managing to break one of two of those and... oh look, all the boxes check and hear me out. Aramis. Being. MAGLOR FEANORION!!  I talked about this with my darling @tairin, my nice sis who i love and thank very much for being always there to hear me rambling about my obsessions and not having killed me yet. And she is even more of a genius than i suspected! Guys i just needed to vent out a bit. We can’t find my cat. we looked into the house, outside, all over the sort-of-village where i live (i live in the country) and we can’t find it. Does any of you have an idea of why a cat can be disappeared in such a way? I just know that a moment she was inside and the other she was nowhere to be seen. I just needed to vent out a bit ‘cause i think i’m panicking just as much as before when we where actively looking for her. Do you have any idea of why a cat can just... fly and boh... i don’t even know if she actually is outside the house, even if i looked everywhere in. She’s injured under her neck, she had a dermatitis that we can’t manage to heal, even if she is way better than some months ago. sorry, just some venting out i don’t know how to cope with this

Sooo guys. Some time ago i got a book, ‘Gioacchino Murat e l’Italia meridionale’ which was introduced to me by @joachimnapoleon and after reading it I thought of making a post about it. Hope you will enjoy it!

So let’s get started! In the third part of the book we have a focus on the people who actually governed Naples, starting with the King and the Queen and proceeding with the ministers, describing how their personalities fitted in their roles and how they actually got their work done; this post will be about our favourite King of Naples, Joachim Murat. (the mistakes in the translation are entirely mine)

Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 17–21, Manga One-Shot

From ages 17 to 21, Fujimoto of Chainsaw Man fame dropped several one-shots that were finally compiled into a single volume. While they all share his sense of humor and fantastic art style, each of the four stories is wildly different. The first is about two humans surviving together dressed as chickens after human-eating aliens take over the planet. The second is about a teenager who wants to be an astronaut as an adult with a crush on his teacher, when someone invades the classroom. Another about a lovestruck student council president who can’t get the courage to admit it. The final story is about an assassin who ends up going up against an unkillable opponent. So yes, they are wild and different. I loved each one of these stories for very different reasons. Each stood out in its own unique way and was very well crafted. The big thing about each of them is that if you tried, you likely could have gotten an entire series out of the premise out of them. However, Fujimoto was content with each being a self-contained, complete story. Frankly, I love that and would love to see more creative one-shots like these from the mangaka I love. - @mdmrn​

The World After the Fall, Manga Vol. 1

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: mysterious towers suddenly appear around the world, and from them, stream hordes of horrific monsters bent on destruction. Amid the mayhem, certain people receive invitations to enter the tower and progress up its many levels under game-like conditions, complete with special abilities, rare items, and all life functions depending on stats rather than actual physical realities (such as the ingestion of food, medical treatment, sleep, etc.). As the Tower Walkers initially progress and ultimately die like flies, one hero distinguishes himself for his dogged perseverance and determination. His skill? Stabbing. Like, stabbing a lot until he can stab really hard and with deathly consequences. He’s a simple man. Okay, so not a great deal actually happens in this opening volume, either in terms of plot or characterization, but there is something on offer here, and it is admittedly quite stunning: full-color, glossy art of lots and lots and lots of monster battles, beautifully rendered. This story began life as a Webtoon—hence the full color—and is now receiving a physical release. Which is both a good and a bad thing. Good, because, as mentioned, the art is fantastic: lively, dynamic action candy for the eye. But also bad, because the pacing of the storytelling is way off here (not being scripted for release in volumes) and we don’t get far enough along for the story to distinguish itself from the millions of other magical-training-towers-suddenly-appear-on-earth-with-monsters adventures. There has been some effort to adapt the layout of the single long scroll of a Webtoon to the horizontal reading pattern of a physical book, but it’s inconsistent at best and ignores the potential of the double-page spread for visual impact. Adapting a Webtoon is a far more demanding undertaking than gathering together manga chapters into tankoban volumes (where mangaka usually have in the back of their heads the notion that their work may be gathered together into volumes, and write accordingly), and sadly, The World After the Fall does a mediocre job of it. It’s early days though in the business of Webtoon adaptations, so here’s hoping for some improvements, because having such high-quality art in physical copy is a real boon. ~ claire

Tombs, One-Shot Manga

Twisted tales that’ll make you want to sleep in your parents’ room! I believe this is, by far, the best short story collection from Junji Ito! I’m a huge fan of Japan’s master of horror, so to say that I was excited to read his newest release is an understatement. He is the master at writing the most unsettling horror stories and his intricate art style makes these creepy tales so immersive. From a strange town filled with tombstones, even in the middle of the streets and homes, to a nosey neighbor that you wish you didn’t live next to… “Like a good neighbor, stay over there!” My favorite story was “Washed Ashore,” which is about a strange deep-sea creature that washes ashore and attracts a huge crowd. I would have loved a few more pages to really explore the weirdness surrounding this creature and its effect on the people. Usually, short story collections are hit-or-miss—you have a few stories that you really enjoy and then some you don’t care for—but all nine of these stories were thrilling. Tombs is an excellent introduction for those who are interested in reading his work. Even though it’s a horror title, it isn’t too off-putting to new readers of the genre: it’s not intensely violent or graphic. But to seasoned Ito fans, it’s a must-have. Bride of the Barrier Master, Light Novel Vol. 1

I have a feeling that Bride of the Barrier Master was selected for English publication based solely on the low cost of purchasing its rights (the book lacks the slick design of most light novel releases, featuring just one illustration—on the cover) and maybe a reading of just the initial chapters, which are rudimentary but compelling. They tell the story of Hana, a girl neglected by her parents for being the less talented of twin sisters, who becomes able to summon shikigami familiars and fight against creatures known as shadows as she becomes the titular wife. The licensing decision certainly couldn’t be based on the remaining 2/3 of volume one, which are full of contrived situations, inane conversation, and zero tension in either the action or “romance.” This is one of the worst books I’ve ever read. It reminds me of watching a goofy Disney channel show for tweens where the characters puts on a play that gets laughs from the audience because of the clumsy dialogue and overacting. There’s obviously none of the latter in the book, but it feels that way for the characters, who jump from situation to situation through leaps of logic that serve to tie events together but don’t carry any plausibility at all. For instance, the central couple gets lunch at the mall only to run into Hana’s best friend and her boyfriend, who just happens to also be an antagonist. The whole story is full of dumb shlock like that. A saving grace, if there is one, is that the story wasn’t written so simply that I could fly right through it. I suggest, though, that you stay as far away as possible from Bride of the Barrier Master. Read a better light novel. Or a short story. Or even that fan fiction piece you wrote as a 4th grader. Anything else is pretty much guaranteed to be a better use of your time. ~ @animepopheart​

Kaiju No. 8, Manga Vol. 5

It never fails. With every volume I read of Kaiju No. 8, I always forget to breathe at multiple points when reading. Volume five proved that to be true as Kakfa engages in full-out battle with Kikoru’s father in a great effort to prove he is still human. However, his “inner” kaiju makes the outward battle far from easy, as Kafka has to face his own inner battle of who will claim “dominance” over the Kaiju No. 8: Kafka or the kaiju? And unfortunately, that’s just the beginning of his problems… While I confess I was pretty devastated that the third division did not play an active role in this volume, the appearance and involvement of a new character—and new division—made it hard to mourn the lack of some of my favorite characters. Okay, no, I lied. It’s still hard, but Narumi (a character who is going to greatly impact Kafka’s new life, though not in the best of ways) made things interesting. It’s hard to really dislike a character who not only looks cool but can also say some pretty cool things and do pretty cool things as well. Though I still absolutely hate what he said to Kafka, I am hesitantly optimistic that I will come to like his character more in the upcoming volume. As always though, the stakes are even higher with an even more on-edge cliffhanger than the last volume. I am again desperate to see what happens next in this series! ~ @lauraagrace​

Even if This Love Disappears Tonight, Light Novel Vol. 1

The first twist in this lovely coming-of-age novel plays out fairly early on—early enough to serve as the premise of the story: Maori Hino cannot make new long-term memories. She forgets each day as she sleeps at night, and has done so ever since an accident in the spring of her sixteenth year left her with anterograde amnesia. So when Tooru Kamiya makes a fake confession to her after school one day (for reasons), she first lays out a few rules to protect her secret, and then blithely enters into a fake relationship with him. She wants to discover whether or not she can still do new things, even in her condition. What follows is an unusual, if not necessarily unique, romance. (Think Memento without the violence and manipulation, or 50 First Dates with fewer gags and a great deal more self-awareness.) But it’s never really the intriguing setup that carries this story; it’s the opening promise of character growth and the delicate touch of author Misaki Ichijo in leading her three main characters—including Hino’s best friend, Izumi Wataya—through the challenges of loss and relational brokenness to a place of tender hope. Kamiya is the initial narrator of the three friends’ shared story; and by the end of the opening paragraph, his tale already promises a profound journey with just a few simple words: “…that day after school, I surprised myself.” Here is a character who is introduced as rather dull, without ambition or dreams, and quite possibly rather self-satisfied or even conceited; yet, within a few short sentences, he turns that tired Kyon-like trope on its head by admitting he still has a great deal to learn, even about himself. The novel delivers surprisingly quickly on this promise of character growth, in a refreshingly direct manner without the tedious melodrama of misunderstandings and endless hesitations—and not just for Kamiya, but the girls as well. (Also, don’t worry, there’s no love triangle here.) The different narrators, each of whom has his or her own distinctive voice, are deployed to good effect, driving the story forward and, along with a couple more plot twists, making for a satisfying read. All in all, this is a thoughtful, kind, and compelling story. A few tears may have been shed in the reading. ~ claire

No Longer Heroine, Manga Vol. 2

I can’t say I am one to read overly dramatic fiction, but No Longer Heroine continues to be an absolute delight to read! Last year, volume one was in my top ten favorite manga of 2022, and this trend continues to hold true with the release of volume two! Hatori has made it clear to Rita that she loves him and is content to do so from afar. While things seem to be going as smoothly as they can in this kind of situation, Hatori is completely taken off guard when Hiromitsu arrives on the scene and not only looks like her favorite pop idol but surprisingly takes an interest in her! I absolutely loved this volume! Hatori’s love problems are anything but simple with Nakajima “the fool,” who continues to listen to all her dilemmas and delusions—and continues to be the real MVP in this series. I still continue to be #TeamRita, but I was very surprised at how much I liked this new love rival!  He’s definitely a player, but surprisingly treats Hatori very well. It also didn’t hurt that with all the drama that unfolded, he was the one person who stood up for her more than once. I’m extremely curious as to what will happen next, especially with Hatori’s new plan to win Rita’s heart, because no way are things going to go as simple as she thinks it will. Hopefully, the wait for volume three will go by quickly, because I need more of this hilarious and over-the-top shojo series! ~ @lauraagrace​

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible, Manga Vol. 5

I’ve liked Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible much more since Kubo and Shiraishi’s friends and family have become a larger part of the story and the manga has become as much about Shiraishi’s growth as it is about his potential romance with Kubos That all continues in volume five, which enters a small sports festival arc involving the five main friends. Seeing Shiraishi blossom under Kubo’s care and that of the others is lovely and a high point for the volume. Another is a warm moment involving Shiraishi’s mom after she meets Kubo for the first time. Much of the rest of volume five is cute but a tad forgettable. Still, I’ve come to adore Shiraishi and Kubo over the course of this run, and while the series lacks a creativity and depth that might aid it in becoming one of the best ongoing romcom series, there’s still plenty of warmth, humor, and cuteness in Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible to continue to carry it for many more volumes. ~ @animepopheart​
