btw help me with that qn plspls, it went smth like why is Ca(OH)2 (slaked lime) better than CaCO3 (limestone) better at neutralising soil...

arghh oh well, i need to get over that... no papers tmr cuz its the weekend!!! but im still on a schedule since my finals end on wednesday. my crush's birthday is on sunday so im suuper excited for that too, made him a card and all but i dont get to see him irl much so im j gna dm it to him heh

which exam boards have you done for your subjects, and were they different from the ones you did at gcse? if so did that make it any more difficult? i just started but at a new school and everyone's done different exam boards, and especially with covid help on the exams they took off a fair amount for biology i feel like i'm already behind😭😭😭😭 like does your exam boards at gcse impact your a levels in any way do you think

hi! you found my secret nerd blog lmao. exam boards don't matter between gcse and a level, don't worry! the only issues we came up against in my class was people who hadn't done parts of the curriculum because of covid, and people who hadn't done triple science. all of those people were perfectly able to catch up in the end. really a lot of a level is just relearning gcse. so don't worry! even if you do need to catch up, there's plenty of time.

oh, and good luck with your new school! now's a great time to switch, i hope you make lots of new friends and enjoy year 12 :)

Oooooh I'm about to start threatening to quit at work

#i did it half jokingly to 1 person n if my manager heard hed probs have lost it lmao today has been shit for the whole lab n quality team #long n short -> the lab tester role was meant to be filled by a guy off the shop floor 2 or 3 months ago #the guy really wants to come up n do this job #but hes been told he has to stay in factory for another 2 weeks or more #so im doing that role #n not to be pretentious but i have a 1st class masters in chem n u could do that job without gcse science #i dont think there even letting the dude train someone to take over his role it sounds like theyre letting him leave a void #so whenever they want they can drag him back to factory #and everyone is pissed about it #we had a guy on quality team who was v qualified n they had him packing boxes for months #so he just said fuck it n quit n moved to greener pastures #n warlier i said 'im about to pull a john [redacted] if this goes on for much longer' #n i think she knew that there was some serious intent behind me saying it #i think she might be considering leaving cuz she really gets fucked about as well n works so much unpaid overtime #actually kinda hope the company crashes n burns in the next 6 months #really fucked off with today lmaoooooooo #the only thing is if i quit the lab team will be 2 ppl (3 if poor mick ever escapes the factory floor) when it used to be a team of 7 #and the people i work with are nice n i dont want to drop them in the shit #but at the same time its my life n i was only ever planning on staying for 2ish years which will be what ive done once my flat tenency ends #so. #yeah. #i think ima start applying to new jobs within the next month or so. #kinda done with small town life might see if i cant get a city job.

Now listen u dont need to get an A* to be happy with ur grades. If those are ur goals then u go girl. If those are not u still go girl.

But my mum always says "Always aim higher than what u can get. Then you will reach the farthest u can go. Now go make another omelette for me."

Now a major thing I would do before an exam is open a candidate response, the qp, the ms and the examiner report.

Do each question, check with the markscheme, check the candidate response and assess where u are and then the examiner report.

Go read books from good authors like Madelline Miller, Katherine Arden, and Ocean Vuong. Get phrases that u really like and copy them into a word document. Go through it before the exam and use it in the writing

hiii this is. slightly odd i think?? but i just wanted to say thank you for something, because it's really changed my life. when i first started reading flwogb i had just finished my gcses and was picking my A levels, and i saw here on tumblr smth u posted about how you'd done a degree in a bioscience subject and that you were going into intellectual property. i'd never heard of that kind of career path before, but it sounded so interesting so i looked into it and thought i'd probably like to do something like that in the future. which is why i ended up doing 3 sciences and law at A level (MIGHTT have been a mistake doing all 4 bc it nearly killed me but hey)

fast forward to now, i'm doing a biochemistry degree and hoping to get a placement at a law firm dealing with life science intellectual property, all because i stumbled across your fic way back in 2020 by complete accident!! it's genuinely changed my life bc i would literally never have known about a career that feels so tailor made to my specific interests in science AND law together 💞 soooooo thank you haha, i really wouldn't be as happy now if it hadn't been for a random post u made like 3 years ago lol xx

best of luck in your jan exams (thinking about my biochem modules from uni still makes me queasy) i'm sure you'll do very well! and i hope you get that placement-- definitely look out for resources such as Aspiring Solicitors, Rare Recruitment or STRIVE that help students get access to the legal field and can help out with applications/interviews! Aspiring Solicitors in particular do a very helpful STEM mentoring scheme with a few IP law firms, so definitely one to check out

HIII studyblr, hope you all are keeping well. I took a massive break after mocks so I didn’t burn out but I got so bored from not doing anything tbh but it was nice to play sims and sleep.

I got 2 out of 4 of my mocks and I got 100% on both of them which is nice. They were last years papers which makes me feel a little more confident for summer…And I treated myself to a Tony’s chocolonely (literally the BEST CHOCOLATE EVER IM ADDICTED but it’s so expensive, so it’s only for special occasions)

My first exam is in 87 days and every time I think about it I actually feel sick, cuz afterwards I’ll have the recurring results day nightmare, ykifyk which I had for 2 straight months after GCSEs😁😁👎(can’t wait).

Anyways I only had 2 lessons today so I studied mainly at school and did a bit when I got home. I revised chem and I’ve finally finished all the theory🥳🥳🎉 ish… but I’m not confident on all of it so I’ll go back and WAG the topics.
