sometimes i just brood about how i can't walk around shirtless in public, which is such a simple privilege males have over females that really shouldn't mean much. however, it's impossible for me to rebel against this expectation on my own; the reason i don't just say "fuck it" and walk out shirtless is because i would become a sexual object to every man i see. the intent i had would be hijacked by the male gaze, if that makes sense.
i also see this hijacking thing happen with sexual liberation, where women were/are trying to reclaim their agency and right to have sed with whoever, but many men don't see it like that. they just see women they can have sex with, and the meaning is lost on them.
this observation has always frustrated me and it just sucks that you can see the pattern in a lot of aspects of feminism, where men will pick out parts that benefit them and THEN support those parts for their own benefit.

when i interact with older women it is innocent and sweet and filled with so much love, but men? they always have depraved motives.
i have never once been around an older man (outside of my family) who has not treated me as dumb, or a sexual object.

As a black girl, it’s just impossible for me to ignore the similarities between black face and drag as phenomenons that were/are incredibly normalized in popular culture. Both are offensive exaggerations of an oppressed class to the point of caricaturization by the oppressor class for entertainment and perpetuate harmful stereotypes. The defence line drag apologists always use is that drag is an exploration of gender expression especially for gender non conforming males who were never able to express their femininity and that’s why it’s different from black face in that sense which is just blatant racism. What they don’t know is that white performers often used the excuse of exploring their “inner negro” when in blackface and it was actually a very popular response to blackface criticism lol. And even then..why should women be mocked and made sexual objects in order for men to be able to “express themselves” it’s really just grade A sexism so many drag performers have expressed not thinking that women should participate. There is no other explanation for why drag queens are overwhelmingly much more popular than drag kings and that’s the fact that embodiments of men aren’t seen as jokes. Recently read this really fascinating paper that talks about how similar the two are I strongly recommend it

Calling homosexuality a 'genital preference' is genuinely so twisted. Preference implies there is a choice. It implies sexual orientation is no different than saying; "I prefer horror movies, but if romance is all we have, I will watch romance". It is basicly denying the existence of homosexuality by implying everyone is a bisexual under the right circumstances. It is no different than conservatives calling being gay 'a lifestyle choice'.

when women claim men don't have the same emotional capacity as us, i think it's untrue and more importantly letting them off easy. throughout history men have written insightful poems and novels on the human experience or on how "love conquers all", but digging deeper reveals they were still sexist assholes--men definitely have the same emotional intelligence as women (we're in the same species so obviously) but they simply teach themselves that women are the ones who aren't deserving of their empathy. this is why "nice guys" and the men you know are still as dangerous as the strangers you don't know; it has nothing to do with their moral compasses. it's just that no matter how virtuous they are, that virtue is more often than not entirely closed off to women.

My opinion that every religion is evil and absolutely is in direct conflict with feminism extends to islam and it’s pretty ironic that a lot of feminists get mad at that. It’s justified to criticize catholics and christians but it’s racist and islamophobic to even suggest that women are oppressed by their fathers, mothers, and family members inside their own homes because of islam. I’ll be a proud transphobe and islamophobe if it means standing for women without guilt🫡🫡

radfem question!!
i'm having a conversation with someone about female only spaces (this specifically pertains to bathrooms) and they said that the rule of having female-only bathrooms would "act more like an enforcement of femininity more than anything else."
I think their point is about butch lesbians and/or women who present "masculinely," and so because there is ofc no female identification at the door, and policy would likely just make it more acceptable for women and girls to report if there was a male in the bathroom (without having to determine if the male identifies as a woman), this could end up hurting "masculine"-presenting women (implying that they could be mistaken as male), and in turn just reinforce femininity. Thoughts? (mine are in tags)

To the gender criticals out there, know that when we say “let trans people in sports”, we are not suggesting that we should end the conversation at that. We are suggesting that with the topic of trans people in sports, y’all are not going in the right direction.
You cannot identify womanhood by any given trait or feature, besides the fact that somebody feels like a woman. That is what makes them feel comfortable in society and their bodies.
Not all cis women have uteruses. Not all cis women produce estrogen. Not all cis women have breasts. Not all cis women even have XX chromosomes.
These women are biologically female, and their womanhood should not be defined by arbitrary traits that you assign them. Besides, to imply that they are worthy of womanhood, and trans women are not, is hypocritical.
Gender isn’t just a social construct, it’s the way our brains perceive ourselves and our role in society from birth. You cannot be critical of things that are not subjective concepts. That is called ignorance.
The issue with trans people in sports (and I know there is one) is not that they’re a danger to sports, it’s that the system we compete based on is outdated, and biased towards a very stereotypical type of man and woman.
The solution is not banning a minority from something built for enjoyment, the solution is to abolish the system that they, along with many people outside of the minority, do not fit into.
There is no one-size-fits-all for sports separation, and different sports can be separated in different ways. If your system is built to regulate womanhood, it is not a system of protection, it is a system to oppression. We are all humans, and every day the excuses of “gender ideology” and “gender confusion” become more and more absurd.
Think for yourself. If you were born with something that made you different than other men or women, would you really be okay with everybody excluding you? From children’s soccer teams? From high school basketball practices? From putting in the years of effort to compete in the Olympics? All because you were born “imperfect” by their standards.
This isn’t something I’m willing debate. If you disagree with including minorities in sports, or allowing intersex people to compete, you need to do some long, individual reflection on why you care so much about how limited of a human experience a minority should have. Don’t try to reword yourself into the hero. Use some critical thinking.
