It actually like confuses and upsets me how some book fans are like, upset by TV Demerzel being emotional as if Daneel wasnt reprogrammed by a man’s love. They expect Daneel to be this macho emotionless powerhouse rather than the incredibly nuanced and complex being who spent their entire 20,000 years of existence in indecision and weariness, who never stopped talking about the man they loved and injected them into legends. Who built a secluded mansion to live in by themselves and modeled the palace of the Galactic Empire after their home planet out of nostalgia??

There are plenty of criticisms that can be made about the show that aren’t she cries and loves people too much. I feel like detailing the trauma and horror of a 20,000 year existence and the things one has to do in their mission (thru the Cleon plot) in this existence is a wonderful way to explore the character, and it’s being done beautifully.

I think such a big reason my trans manhood feels almost... bigendered is simply because in the eyes of most people (specifically cis people with whom I interact with most), I straddle this weird line wherein I am a man and often am seen as one, but I am also clearly undefinable insofar as cis theory goes, clearly queer, clearly outside of manhood if one only accepts cishet, patriarchal manhood. This definitely used to be a source of dysphoria for me, but I think now that I've transitioned, it's been interesting to explore this more. Am I wholly a man? Yes. Am I a man of multitudes? Yes. Do these multitudes contradict? Well, that depends on your definition of "contradiction"

#jane is a very nuanced character who suffers from both violent childhood trauma and grooming #she's a clumsy teenager still trying to navigate her friendships and social life with her other clumsy teenager friends #and she's not great at it all the time and neither are they but she still cares about them! that's an interesting character concept! #again you don't have to find her interesting if that's not your preference. but that doesn't mean everyone feels the same way #also she is more similar to the fandom's most specialest boy (dave) than a lot of people realize but she's a Girl so she's not allowed to #be treated or viewed in the same ways as him. but i won't get into it #now. if you want to argue that her character arc got cut short and didn't really amount to much? that's a valid argument to make + i can #see how that might make people like her less. but it's less of her being a bland character and more ''uh oh the story had to end'' flavor #of weird act 6 writing that a lot of characters got shafted with #tldr you're allowed to not like jane but don't be surprised when other people do <3
