Lars Alexandersson : Lalo Symphony in G Minor; IV. Allegro

There’s always something driving this piece forwards, and it’s just as much of constant force as Lars himself is!!

One of my favorite parts about connecting this to Lars is at 20:34 in the YouTube video- the upper strings take the main melody, and it's played with a bunch of quick, bouncy bowstrokes!! Different ensembles might choose different techniques for it, but it's a tricky section to nail no matter what- playing it requires control of the bow's speed, how much weight's being played with, and how much bow is being used!! The amount of technical work that goes into making that section clean reminds me of how troops are trained- nothing less for the leader of the Tekken Force!!

Dynamics-wise, there are accented bursts of volume in the main melody, almost reminiscent of planned strikes that come out of nowhere- they’re controlled and wielded incrementally until the very end, where the brass plays at top volume and the drums are practically booming!! After so much time being restrained, and appearing sparingly, we finally witness the full power of the orchestra- and, in Lars’s case, the full power of the resistance!
