The thing about doing community clergy work is that you can get so tied up in it and get so busy with that work that you neglect your own spiritual health and routine. I do sometimes find myself stumbling into this trap. I’m in it now, I know. I think I’m going to set aside just a few minutes each afternoon to do a small prayer ritual and divining each day until I feel more evened out, and then ease back into my usual routine.
How do you deal with this struggle when (or if) it happens for you? What inspires you back into your routine of devotions? What do you find most hindering from it in life?

I recently realized a lot of my writings with my divine feminine visions are very seasonal. Many goddesses are seasonal, and even if not they have their own holy days marking seasons afterall. Makes me think of Kali in particular whose name comes from the Sanskrit root word “kal” which means time 🌞  काल  🌚 along with denotations of death, as integral to the nature of time.
It is unpopularly theorized that the word “calendar” itself has its etymological root in Kali reverence by the Romani people who were found throughout the ancient Roman empire. The word for calendar shares the root sound “kal” throughout over a dozen European languages until this day. According to formal acedemically recognized etymology “calendar” comes from Old French calendier, from Latin calendarium (account book), from kalendae (the first day of the month), from calo (to announce solemnly, to call out (the sighting of the new moon). 🌚 Those who know of the ancient tradition of monthly Romani rituals which called aloud to Kali every new moon (associated with Her blood flow) theorize along with these definitions that Kali is where we get “calendar” in a kind of ancient cultural appropriation.
All European language etymology studies tend to lead back to Latin even in instances professed to be only a vague theory, further obscuring from history countless native languages of the “barbarians” conquered by ancient Roman colonization. The history of how subsequent European cultures since Romanization have oppressed Romani peoples as “Gypsies” up to today is inherited from Roman culture. Why wouldn’t these systems actively repress the truth of any such influences? So with that in mind I think why not Kalinder?
PS! ”rom” is a Romani word for “man” and so the similarities of Roman and Romani are not etymologically linked as some have assumed, mistakenly believing that Romani means “from Rome” in the way that the derogatory term Gypsy meant “from Egypt”. The Romani have their roots in India.

Hestia Devotional Activities
I was cleaning my room last night and found this list on a random piece of paper. I've been worshipping/working with Lady Hestia for roughly 2 years now so I have no idea when these ideas are from but I hope you enjoy!
Pick up rubbish in communal areas
Offer the first or last bites/portions of food your to her
Cooking/baking for yourself or others
Having a candle lit whenever possible (electric or real)
Alternatively, playing a video of a fire place. (This is my favourite)
Volunteering at or donating to homeless or DV shelters
Setting healthy boundaries with friends and family
Tea/Coffee magick is always a great devotional opportunity
Get involved with your local community in anyway possible.
Additionally, getting involved in politics! Advocating for policies you believe will better the community is absolutely in alignment with Hestia and her role in ancient Greece.
Allow yourself to rest (this is UPG but i've always found that she just wants you to take care of yourself more than anything).
Do a chore you've been putting off for a long time and dedicate it to her
Organise to hang out with some friends and/or family
Be kind to others AND YOURSELF!!
Veil or bind your hair!
Wear something red or orange (I normally opt for a red hair tie and bind my hair with it. 2 birds, 1 stone)
Make a devotional playlist for her
While we're on the topic of digital witchcraft, make a pinterest board or a mood board for her
Learn about kitchen witchery

"Fair wreathed Kytherea"
-Hesiod's Theogony, Gany translation
Aphrodite of the golden crown
The lustrous hand mirror
Seafoam from the cosmos rains down
The mist grows clearer
Kytherea blew in
From warm Cyprus winds
Enchanting the Seamen and Seafarers
I hope you enjoyed today's tale of legend and lore, come back next week and there will be even more

I want to make something clear to those new to deity work - especially those who, like me, are also coping with a mental illness/struggle with emotional regulation while trying to be practitioners...
You are more than likely going to fuck up - not just at the beginning. You are going to make mistakes and do things wrong. The gods know this. They understand. And they won't abandon you for it.
I have BPD, and one of the struggles that goes along with that is the mood swings - which can be severe and come out of absolutely nowhere.
Yesterday, I had an episode of epic proportions. And in that moment, the emotions caught up to me and I took it out on Lady Artemis - who is well and truly the love of my life.
I said things I didn't mean and instantly regretted. Obviously once the fog had cleared, I was quite literally sick with guilt. I was in tears at her altar just begging her forgiveness, and I couldn't cope with the possibility that I might not get it.
I grew up in a religion that prized fear and absolute obedience over genuine love - and sometimes that old 'fire and brimstone' gut-deep fear still comes back. I made a mistake, and part of me was expecting to receive my Lady's rage.
What I was met with instead was enough love and forgiveness and understanding to knock the breath out of me. She expected an apology, and once she got it, we were back where we have always been.
Your gods love you as intensely as you love them. They understand that we are people and people are fundamentally flawed. We fuck up in life. Worship is no different. But they aren't waiting to strike you down or abandon you for flaws and mistakes. Don't beat yourself up too much over that kind of thing.
Take a breath. Calm down. It's really alright, I promise.

self care is a devotional act. washing your hands is a devotional act. finding beauty in something or someone is a devotional act. finding beauty in yourself is a devotional act. loving friends, family, pets, & partners is a devotional act. devotional acts dont have to be these grand gestures, because the gods & goddesses appreciate you; especially when youre enjoying the life they bestowed upon you
happy venus day everyone !!
