In playing a game, we bring its artificial borders weight. In creating something, we inhabit that world to bring it life.

I started Handplates during a really difficult time in my life... no matter what happened, no matter how much things felt like they were falling apart around me or I was going to lose my mind or it all was just too much to bear, there’d always be another Handplates comic to do. Like clockwork that alarm in my head would go off and I’d get to work on the next one, no matter what was happening. It was always, always there. It’s hard to believe it’s been over seven years... a few more months to eight.

By my estimates, the next comic will be the last one. It doesn’t seem real, and when it does, it just makes me sad to think about... but I guess Undertale itself was about that too. How hard it is to let go, and when it’s time to say goodbye...

Made statblocks for my feywild cows*! Theyre called Giant Longhorn Stags, shortened down to stags in causal conversation. More about them under the cut! *-colors inaccurate and just for labeling

While they both have wings, the calves are the only ones able to actually fly, as they get too heavy for lift off as they grow. The adults use their wings as a counterbalance when they fight, as they fight like deer do, standing and locking horns and kicking with their front legs. They use their scythe arms for it, along with using them to bring grass to their mouths, since their horns get so long that they cant reach anymore. They only grow the scythe arms once they lose flight and the horns start to make grass feeding difficult. Their front legs are more bug like than normal cows, making them more prone to injury, but as they are bug legs, they shed and grow back if too injured.

The calves are good mounts, with their flight and panic-induced speed, but only on the short term, as they only have a six month window of independent flight, marked after they are weaned from their mother and before they get too heavy to fly. They are often bought from and returned to their home ranch to be used during this time, and any that are not bought to be used for various fey wild dealings, are brought to the rodeo for roping events.

The adults are not as good as mounts. They have lost flight and their dash, as it was a baby's instinct to get away from danger, and now, most of them know better than to let people on their backs willy nilly. They are good in a fight, as long as theyre on your side. they have no problem grappling people and holding them up and slashing at them with their scythe arms if they feel the need to.
