I saw your tweet? from such a long time ago (eh no I think it was october) that was about cora/law and something something basically law being soooo much into cora and sick of waiting in general (can I also mention here. the 1975 - fallingforyou and especially the /you said some day we might, when i’m closer to your height/ line) so uhhhhh what about. a cora lives AU when they reunite once law becomes a warlord (also don’t tell me the 100 hearts weren’t meant for cora) and cora has been somehow found and brought back to life by the marines??? but kept hidden from public information for as long as doflamingo was running loose and rampant. but after dressrosa it’s no longer important and anyway they meet again and it’s all. reserved and polite and cora is just happy to see law all grown up and how much influence and power he has etc etc meanwhile law. keeps inviting him to the most high-end/expensive restaurants. buys him the most expensive wine. gets him heart-themed jewelry. the finest silk shirts/scarves. some rare types of tobacco. basically like a reverse sugar daddy thing except it’s law who absolutely spoils cora except cora doesn’t really have any idea what to do with it? bc law just says it’s bc cora took care of him all these years ago and now law wants to reciprocate. except he’s. way too invested in this/there’s something else in his eyes when he looks at cora, instead of just gratitude. GOSH I do love the idea of Law spoiling Cora, especially bc like, from what we saw Cora went from a life of luxury in his youth, to one of struggle and then eventually medium-ish comfort, and was happy to throw it all away again for Law when they went on the run. So it's like, now Law can give that all back to Cora easily and I'd even sort of read it a bit as Law subconsciously trying to show how he's not just some little kid anymore so let him sleep with you Corazon, look, you think a guy who gives you this many silk shirts doesn't know how to show you a good time

Cora getting a little overwhelmed when the gifts and meals start being sprinkled with signs of courting... like, a brush of a hand or Law bringing them somewhere secluded on a walk and carefully getting into Cora's space. Asking Cora to be his +1 to big fancy dinners and escorting him around with a hand on his back ahahaHA

Cora can't deny that Law is just like, a dream guy, but he's gonna need a little extra push to let go of that sense of propriety saying that "they really shouldn't do this"

GOSH the 100 hearts being for Cora... another hopelessly romantic tribute from Law, the most Extra Adult-ass Emo walking around. It's exactly like you said, that's one of my favorite things about Law around Cora--the depth of his emotion... we know Law had this deep capacity for hatred when they first met—he was just this well of resentment and anger, even as a kid. But after seeing just how far Cora would go for him, that intensity got completely redirected into love (or "low-key obsession" haha—the naming his pirate crew after Cora and modeling his coat and tattoos after him). It's especially wild considering how "reserved" Law is around others, I guess? Like, he wants everyone around him to Stop Being So Ridiculous, but I feel like with Cora he would just want more and more, to draw out bigger and bigger reactions from him and encourage Cora to screw convention and run off with him. bc in his head they're all that really matter...? he's an all-or-nothing kind of guy!! I guess

And yeeeeah on Cora's side, it's definitely a difficult ship to pin down. I'm kind of like you, really picky about how I'd want it to play out... Part of me doesn't want Cora to be completely oblivious, and I don't love when people strip out how much of a badass/tough/discerning guy he is (though I do love the klutzy, naive-ish side of him). I don't know......... I think I like how I laid it out in the tweet, where Law has always sort of harbored feelings for Cora in the form of puppy love that transformed into an all-consuming fixation. Then it's just a matter of Cora finding out about it, denying those feelings (but the reason changes from "I couldn't see Law that way!!" to "he couldn't really feel that way about me/he could find someone more 'his equal' (in age? status? what excuses are you making Cora??)" over time. And at that point, when Law knows Cora wants him just as bad but is holding back from it, he just snaps. 😂

If they really did have just one long separation, and then a sudden reunion, I like the idea of Law re-learning who Cora really is... Like, he has faded memories of Cora's bravery and goofiness and weird little habits, but he wasn't prepared to meet him again and only end up liking him MORE. He learns about what Cora went through as a kid/in Doffy's shadow, and seeing how he still stayed so kind and brave just makes Law wilder than ever about him lmao!!

another angsty ficlet series i wanna get to writing is that during their time in the djd, kaon and tarn have an off and on relationship that both wanted to expand on after the war but obviously, they changed.

anyway, long story short, after tarn pops off kaon's head, nickle is able to fix him. kaon survives as does tarn in this ficlet but kaon, rightfully so, wants nothing to do with tarn. unfortunately for tarn, he ends up figuring out that due to previous events he is sparked, by kaon no doubt. attempting to turn a new leaf he goes to kaon and tells him - kaon ends up trying to kill tarn and is repulsed by him and the idea of a sparkling with tarn and denounces them both. tarn isn't upset, because he knows he did wrong and he just leaves.

i think this is something im gonna warp into my tarn and starscream aus where Starscream takes Tarn in after the trial. he just doesn't realize that tarn is carrying a sparkling. of course starscream takes her in .

The thing about Ace/Sabo is that the ship is less about them being brothers but more like them sharing a childhood friendship? That had the potential of becoming something more in the future. Except it didn’t, for obvious reasons. And yeah not everyone’s a fan of that, but people also like the raised by wolves/son of a noble dynamic they had as children. While I agree Sabo does kind of feel like he was stuck to Ace&Luffy as an afterthought, with a piece of chewed-out gum — his existence doesn’t… I don’t know, feel out of place? I also enjoy how kinda tragic his character is, and how he carries that tragedy with him? In the form of Ace’s devil fruit (Sabo also canonically hallucinates and there was an instance where he admitted to hearing Ace’s voice, during his fight with Burgess? so yeah, not everyone’s cup of tea again but I’m a huge fan of hurt/comfort so having a character go through a psychotic depressive episode because of the insane guilt he feels? Just, yeah. Plus there’s something really poetic about him literally eating Ace’s DF and still considering it „Ace’s powers” etc) and the way I see Sabo/Lu is through Ace/Lu (and partially Ace/Sabo) anyway. Because Sabo is trying to fill out the role of an older brother/friend for Luffy that he’s well aware is impossible to fill — because nothing ever will be the same for Luffy. Nothing or no one could even come close to making it up for Ace’s loss to Luffy, and Sabo knows he’s kind of a cheap copy of that (figuratively and literally lmfao, as I know people have been calling him low-budget Ace), but still he tries to? And the fact that Luffy is technically his only remaining family (or at least someone he willingly considers family). And I kind of see it as a parallel to how Ace’s approach to Luffy changed after Sabo’s „death”? Because Sabo was the „kinder” brother, the nicer one, the smarter one, it was usually him who took Luffy’s side whenever Ace was annoyed with him? And the one who explicitly asked Ace to look after Luffy — which then was one of the direct reasons why Ace changed the way he treated Luffy, forced him to be more patient/learn to love and eventually led to Ace willingly becoming the „older brother” figure for Luffy. I’m in no way trying to convince you to like Sabo, don’t get me wrong!! I’m just trying to show an example how Ace/Sabo isn’t necessarily brotherly either (like, I don’t know, Sabo/Luffy seems to be?). And it’s just that while I’m first and foremost a huge Ace/Lu enjoyer I also think Sabo did have a significant impact on their relationship both before and after Ace’s death.

the odd thing is, I mostly agree!! I think I had to vent bc i saw ppl (a few specific sabo fans haha) on twitter acting like luffy would feel nothing toward ace but be obsessed with sabo. and, lol, no. but what YOU said makes total sense. like, yes, Ace + Sabo definitely has a different, more involved feeling to me than Ace & Luffy. I've had some ships in the past that fit the raised by wolves/runaway noble trope... the charm of the noble feeling like "this is the only person I feel like I can really be myself around" and the wild one thinking "i like spending time with this noble—they're tougher/kinder/funnier than i gave them credit for" AND/OR "society has always rejected me, but this 'cultured' person accepting me heals that pain a little bit"—all of those things are really charming.

Maybe if we'd seen more about how ace and sabo became friends, or if there were more emphasis on sabo's acceptance being what helped ace's anger (instead of, just from how i saw things, it being mostly luffy's unconditional warmth toward ace that did it?) then I'd personally be more feral about that dynamic, haha. But it's like you said, I guess it all depends on what we each connect with. I dont find tragedy alone compelling... I'm depressed enough already as it is LMAO!! if I think too hard about how viscerally sad Sabo only remembering Ace after he'd died is, my brain just shuts down. But I've got really good friends who would EAT THAT UP. Like, yeah, it is beautifully poetic... hahaha now i'm laughing thinking about my friends who were really into Hamlet and Romeo & Juliet finding out about Sabo & Ace and being obsessed, ahaha (they're not so into One Piece tho, only jjk... at least, for now!! 😈)

it's hard to put into words, but there's something about Sabo being a revolutionary vs. ace and luffy being pirates, that kind of explains why my brain sees A+L as very very very different than A&S or L&S. But like, that's just my brain and how my heart likes to focus on characters with really codependent relationships/dreams/themes, hahaha...

#also if we're talking tragedy #so many people have said it better than i ever could but #the beauty and drama of marineford #i live in denial and usually like imagining a timeline where ace was severaly wounded but lived through it #but canon #gosh #ace dying in luffy's arms bc luffy was in danger and he had to protect him #and he only had to protect him bc luffy was too weak from fighting his way through hell for ace #the love was there and it mattered and it didn't change anything but it mattered etc etc i'm WAILING #i don't know i'm bad at explaining why one of those tragedies makes my brain feel things and the other one doesn't quite as much #i wish i could express it better!!! sometimes i'm so frustrated with how i feel like i'm not really getting across the point i meant to #ace had been looking for that love his whole life!! he died KNOWING he had it!! (also like i didn't mention whitebeard here but #all that love ace received being the exact reason he had to turn back....) #and luffy!! luffy knowing he mattered to ace so much--ace loved him so much--he would die for him.... #and going forward with that rock-solid certainty that he's loved in the new world #i'm going to fight a traffic sign. i'm at a loss. #ANYWAY i don't know if this was interesting or annoying as an answer but....... hopefully it was at least a little fun? #and if we just connect with different things in one piece then--not too surprising #with how big the story is!!! #the beauty of fandom etc etc different perspectives coming together and all that #meta #op #asl

Watching Return of the King and wondering why Frodo isn’t a blond, bespectacled, mild-mannered ball of Dad Sass Energy…my perspective is forever changed for the better, @frodo-with-glasses 😂

#I’m over here like hmmmm #where is my baby? #where is my golden-haired boy? #elijah is wonderful but can you imagine? #glasses broken #gentle face twisted with exhaustion and darkness #golden hair brown with dirt and dust and muck #it’s angst hours over in my corner imagining my favorite mild-mannered scholar broken and bloody at the end of everything #unaware that so many people are fighting for him and only able to rely on a friend who is just as broken as he is #and knowing that after all your effort you’ll never get to see home again #gosh this has always done something to me but what I love so much about the Frodo with glasses design is it adds a layer of delicacy #he’s a nerd and a scholar and he’s saving the world and dying for it #and he can’t even see #i dunno I just love it #makes him real #and Sam did so much I know but Frodo is so fascinating to me as a character #his quiet strength encourages me

The Human Target (2021) #7

#oh my gosh I loved this issue #it completely recontextualized all of Guy’s prior actions as he tried to keep Ice and Christopher apart #and changed our understanding of the rest of the series to come as the principle mystery has seemingly been solved #genuinely very excited to follow the rest of the series as it comes out #I also loved what this specific bit added to Christopher’s character #we’ve already seen that it’s very important to him to take his death calmly because of how horrified he was #by the humiliation of his father’s death #which feeds into his desire to be a human target for people and take their deaths for them #and I like this new tidbit where he stopped crying for his father because he realized he sounded like him #when his father realized how screwed he was #and learned to act as though everything was fine #I’ve only known this character for these 7 issues but I’m very compelled by his portrayal #dc #the human target #christopher chance #beatriz da costa #my posts #comic panels
