I was at a slideshow party and my presentation was "How to dance (like a GOTH)."

Before my turn, someone asked me what the difference between goth and emo is.

I told him that emo comes from hardcore punk and goth comes from post punk.

He literally said "I feel like you're speaking a foreign language."

🙄

So then I told him they are different music-based subcultures with different histories of genres of music.

My presentation was well received though! I had music from a random sampling of goth rock, industrial, and dark wave.

At the end I invited everyone to stand up and dance with what they learned. It was so fun!
