It’s the final countdown! In 7 days we depart for Belgium. Honestly, in light of the ongoing plight of so many, it feels wrong to express a celebratory outlook or good fortune on a personal level.
Life goes on…for most. Maybe. The world turns regardless of the heinous nature and disparate desperate circumstance of its human infestation.
We can ponder every greater meaning. Many do believe in some plan, overseen by a great entity. In that, they find comfort in many ways. The comfort of surrender to a fate one cannot escape. The comfort of assurance there is something on the other side of misery. The comfort of being in on the great plan conspiracy. Some find a comfort justifying any means to achieve their plan.
Some wonder if we are a construct like a program running our reality. No more than a dream. An absurd dream, a nightmare with the suffering and death of children just computer code. I read about 14,000 children die every day. I dreamed D said she’d prefer a fillet-o-fish from McDonald’s to…something else. absurd nightmare
Perhaps we inhabit a universe that’s merely a spec of dust on an elephant’s ass our eons seconds in its world, or advanced aliens observe us in our terrarium, really an organic preserve, studying our nature, or maybe just for entertainment. What season are we in?
I believe we are no more remarkable than bacteria, experiencing an existence full formed beyond our comprehension. Living their lives in colonial disharmony and every day calamity until wiped out by antibiotics, hand sanitizer, extremist bacteria, or their parasitic nature destroys their host. Perhaps global warming is fever.
I believe when we end, we end. No resurrection, no reincarnation, no reboot, no transcendence before gates, pearly, Bill, or even Belgium.
It’s dark here today but I believe I will try to enjoy it and life to its fullest measure. I will be mindful of how fortunate I am compared to others. Maybe soon I’ll stand in the grand place again, I’ll take another image from the same spot but, if I do and if I post that pic I think I’ll forego the dark filter.
