DEVASTATING to me that tom interpreted shiv’s call in the final episode of season 3 as an impending betrayal just because his role in a reorganized waystar had not yet been determined.

the siblings were all going out on a limb. NO ONE’S role had been concretely decided. they all made the mutual decision to put their individual egos aside (insofar as people groomed for endless greed and narcissism are able to do) and joined forces against the common enemy of their father.

the natural, immediate impulse of shiv to call tom was an act of trust (insofar as a person like shiv is able to extend something resembling trust). tom heard, “shiv isn’t looking out for me, so i have to look out for myself.” but she wouldn’t have looped tom in if she truly thought he was disposable! shiv isn’t sentimental enough for that! shiv holds her cards too close to her chest for that!

tom looks at shiv’s pattern of behavior and sees a person who’s discarded and disregarded him time and time again. and, when playing by the rules of normal society, he’s right. but shiv is playing by the rules of the roy family. actively advocating for tom at every juncture wouldn’t yield the results tom expects: all that ceaseless advocacy would do is render shiv soft in the eyes of her father, and it would sink them both.

the ultimate irony in all of this is that the most seemingly callous action of shiv’s was actually the most beneficial to tom. it ingratiated tom to logan thoroughly enough to enable tom to betray shiv. of course, i’m talking about shiv’s straightforward conclusion that tom expressing a willingness to take the fall and go to prison would be the most painless option for everyone involved. including tom.

because shiv knows a year of (white collar) prison would be an investment for tom that would pay off in DROVES. it would establish tom as someone respectable and loyal to logan. and it did. tom’s stated willingness to fall on logan’s sword ultimately brought him close enough to logan to allow him to sell out his wife.

because tom can’t take the heat. he doesn’t understand why shiv keeps throwing him into the fire. and shiv doesn’t understand why tom is so resistant. this is the fire he married into, after all. why can’t he toughen up like she has? the added tragedy here is that, in a different context, tom’s difference in constitution from that of her family is likely what drew shiv to tom in the first place. but, paradoxically, his inability to assimilate is also what disgusts her about him.

i’m not sayin’ shiv is a Good Partner. but what i am saying is that tom is not automatically a better one just because he’s more emotional and sentimental than shiv. shiv tries to love him with the tools she’s been given. but, uh, those tools are the emotional equivalent of using a bendy straw to suck all the water out of one of the roy family’s million dollar infinity pools.

My F/Os and how they like their coffee ☕

Macchia: If he’s “chilling” at home, it’s moka time, as per the purest Italian tradition. Dark roast type, specifically 85% Arabica blend and 15% Robusta, but a 100% Arabica will do too. If he’s on the go, then he usually allows himself a macchiato instead (me? basing head-canons on puns?? I don’t know what y'all’re talking about hdjdnk). However, when he seriously needs caffeine, usually when working on some big project, then he goes for a Dead eye (regular coffee with three shots of espresso).

Sturm: Back when he was still alive (and with a functional mouth) he used to be a Ness (instant coffee) kinda guy. It’s cheap, quick and basically always available no matter the circumstances. Heavily laced with sugar ofc. On special occasions however, or when visiting relatives or friends, it was customary to enjoy a Cafea Turceasca (Turkish coffee) together and try to read the future in the particulate bitters on the bottom of the cup for a laugh.

Lord Kardok: Drambuie coffee topped with whipped cream. With lots of Walkers shortbread. In alternative, especially during winter times, an Egg coffee (Robusta coffee, sugar, condensed milk and egg yolk) will do. A centaur warlord needs to meet his calories intake ya know uwu

HoKi: For the meme, I’d say he likes his coffee just how he likes his soul: dark and bitter. In truth, while not much of a habitual coffee drinker, he’s a Cortado (espresso shot served with an equal amount of steamed milk) enthusiast because 1. A lich needs his calcium and 2. The milk to coffee ratio helps keeping his acidic stomach at bay (yes I did diagnose him with GERD, whatcha gonna do about it? >:3c)

Greg: He’s a Starbucks enjoyer (derogatory), not because the coffee is actually good, but simply because they fill it with all kinds of sweet stuff. He always goes for a Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha. Size Venti. With honey. Yeah… If for whatever reason he has to go to a regular bar, then he’ll go for a Mocaccino or a Café miel (coffee drink consisting of steamed milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and honey).

Oliver: Another Starbucks enjoyer. Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew, size Grande, blended, 4 sugar free vanilla syrup pumps and salted brown butter topping. Except in summer, when he switches to the Shakerato (iced coffee drink made with one shot of espresso and ice cubes, shaken together creating a froth).

If Mom has like three kids, a husband, and a family, and says... “No. I don’t want to leave that.”

Do NOT. Think Any less of that person. 18+ years. You don’t know who this child might be, what they will become, or what extended medical they might need once they come into the world.

Dad could get into an accident. A fucking bizarre weather disaster or other cataclysm might demolish half the family. Weird bullshit happens, and it tears families apart, and life crumbles.

You do not make a decision one day and that cements your future. Everything changes. Good stuff happens. Bad stuff happens. You cannot make decisions revolving around one person, especially when you will not be in total control of that person infinity and beyond. If someone feels that they will issues or trauma from trying to bring a child into this world, DON’T FUCKING GET IN THEIR WAY.

All these pro-lifers and politicians... Hypocritical. A piss stain fraction donate to charities and organizations for abandoned children. They won’t let babies and children have access to medical, or let them get treatments for preventable, or manageable conditions. They CONDEMN THESE CHILDREN.

The Pro-lifers and politicians don’t care about the babies or children. None of them do. It’s the whole “purity” complex, or “savior” bullshit. They want to feel rightious.

Well... the pro-lifers do. The politicians don’t give a flying wet dildo what is going on, so long as they get the sweet nectar of votes.

I am not a sadist. I make a choice, and leave everything else to the people who have to live their life. I am not shaming people for what they do, because I have no say in the conversation. I get out of the way, so someone who’s body I have no control over, no say over - can do whatever they need to keep them self safe, healthy, and sane. The cruelty will always be the lifeblood of republicans. I don’t hate people when they are scared or uncertain. But I will shame the fuck out of bullies.

And I sure as hell not out here with a picket sign cheering when frightened people are losing their rights, or when a medical procedure is denied. I’m telling someone who I can look in the face, that their life is important and I want them to make the choice that will keep them safe.

Because if someone feels they can’t make a safe home life for their kid, or they worry they won’t have the things to provide, or they might lose that child anyway and that will hurt as well. Then they should make the choices that they will carry.

I can’t carry these people. I can’t carry these children. And I acknowledge that. I don’t pretend or delude myself with a fantasy. I can only do so much, and sometimes the best thing to do is stand back and let other people make their own choices.

But pro-lifers and especially politicians, like to control other people and feel superior for the malice they cause. Life is cruel and harsh, and these sort of people enjoy making it much harder.

The cruelty was the point. But the humane thing will make you doubt and question the decisions you reach.

Absolutely! Full disclousure though: Im villain woobifier and while I dont woobify all my villain blorbos, Ehlek is one of the ones that I do.

Ehlek is my third favorite Barraki (my 1 and 2 being Pridak and Takadox respectively if you're curious) and one of my favorite characters in the series as whole. I honestly consider him to be one of the most underrated characters in the series, and easily the most underrated character that isn't a serial-exclusive lore character (see Miserix or Artakha for instance). Just, I adore him so much.

One of the main reasons I like Ehlek is because of he is rather unique by Bionicle villain standards. Ehlek is one of the rare villains in the series that isn't a variation of the "powerhungry conqueror with a personality gimmick to stand them out" archetype because...he isn't really powerhungry or greedy at all. Instead, Ehlek is pretty much exclusively characterized by his anger and paranoia towards others. Ehlek is motivated not by a thirst of power, but rather by his emotions: from what I recall most of his actions in canon stem from wanting to hurt whatever upset him that day. And like I said, this incredibly unique by Bionicle villain standards, the only other villain who is motivated exclusively by emotion is Miserix, and guy isn't even really a villain (TSO and Pridak ocasionally are driven by their emotions, but they still mainly fall to the "powerhungry bastard" trope Greg loved to use). And not just is Ehlek stand out, he stands out in a way I like. I love villains driven by their emotion, so Ehlek being a paranoid distrusting mess is just the absolute best for me.

Because Ehlek is an emotionally driven character and doesn't fall for the "greedy bastard Greg villain mold" unlike his fellow Barraki (Takadox and debatably Carapar not withstanding), I actually really like thinking of Ehlek as the "token sympathetic villain" of the Barraki. I ADORE the "token sympathetic/nice guy in a villain faction" trope, and wish it was something Bionicle had done more often. Now, due to Barraki being tyrannic conquerors, seeing any of them as a "good guy" is kinda iffy. However, I do think having one of them be less bastardly and more sympathetic/tragic could work very well. And I think Ehlek is the best fit given his personality as said. As such a lot of my Ehlek related headcanons are giving him more sympathetic traits. Including giving him a tragic backstory because of course I would.

So my backstory headcanon for Ehleks backstory is rather long and detailed, so I wont go everything here. But I can give you a summary. Basically my headcanon for Ehlek is that he was a prince/ruler of one of the many underwater kingdoms in a continent somewhat wayside of the Matoran Universe. He was well meaning and rather naive, and thus was used as a political pawn by other political figures. He was repeatedly manipulated and taken adcantage of both by other rulers and his own allies. Eventually, after being told he had been used by his own advisor the whole time, Ehlek snapped, and killed anyone he saw as a threat, including the aforementioned advisor. Guy basically become a tyrant after having his trust being broken and kindness abused one too many times.

And thats why I put all those "aaa poor baby uwu" answers. Ehlek for me is a tragic figure who was evil not by nature, but because being repeatedly betrayed and used broke his mind to a distrustful mess. He never wanted to hurt anyone, he just wanted to love and help others. Unlike the other five Barraki he wasnt always an opportunistic warmongerer, he was orginally a kindhearted sensitive soul that wasnt able to take it anymore, so he broke. Just god little little baby you didnt deserve it and shouldve been able to live a happy nad fulfilling life.

I personally prefer Japanese voices, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on those, but if you like English more, then that's fine too!

Oh this is a really cool question!! I am a connoisseur for both Eng and Jp Vas so I will provide both. Lmao Some of these are highly specific because some of these characters were lowkey blueprints 🙈 Though I'm curious about what other people would think!

Alberich:

His voice is soft, light, almost sweet tenor. It's gentle and very friendly, the kind that kids find soothing and approachable, but can go into a deep earthy tone when he wants to be serious.

Miyano Mamoru (Chrollo/Light Yagami)

Matt Mercer (Yusuke Kitagawa)

Sieghardt:

His voice would be a very smooth, relaxing tenor, dark but very gentle.

Jun Kasama (HiMERU) or Yuichiro Umehara (Alhaitham/ Keito Hasumi)

Greg Chun, specifically when he making cheesecake or as Adam)

Maeve:

Her voice would be the dark, warm and slightly husky voice. Y'know the one that screams Mommy that will wreck you uwu but also playful aunty.

Miyuki Sawashiro

Allegra Clark (Chihiro Morimura/Beidou)

Lugh:

Junichi Suwabe (Sukuna/Archer)

Finny has a youthful voice, something bright and almost nasally. I wouldn't take him very seriously and ruin the tone of the story, but I think it would be sooo cute if he had a little lisp. ;//w//;

Thea:

She would have a very sweet, bubbly and airy voice. Something that borders on fairy-like and soothing, but isn't grating to the ears.

Laura Bailey (Cheria Barnes/Rise Kujikawa)

Linnet:

Her voice would be something bright, cute and confident. Nothing too high or low, something just right in the middle.

Haruka Tomatsu (Kyoko Hori/ZeroTwo/Asuna)

Kelly Sheridan (Barbie/Sango)

Medea:

Her voice would sit somewhere between pretty, sweet and just edging on sexy. Not too bright or husky, a rich tone that's fitting for a young woman.

Helios:

Androgynous, but soothing, dark and slightly husky. Something that makes you question their age, gender and your sexuality.

Eirik:

SASS. Something not too bratty, but has a rich and sauve twang to it. A rich tone that borders on nasally.
