The Kazama & Mishima’s naming traditions and the Next Gens of Kazama’s children!

Alright so I've been cooking this for a while since they dropped Jun's parents name on T8. Bear in mind, I'm in no way fluent in Japanese nor I'm a native, but I have google on my side to educate me better about Japanese naming systems and the kanji they used for naming the child (jinmeiyo and joyo).

I just want to named XiaoJin’s future babies so bad, kay?! Lol. Even though I know Jin is opposed to any plan of continuing the lineage (which is heartbreaking 😭💔) but the XiaoJin's shipper in me cannot be extinguished!! 🔥🔥🔥 I still want to named them! Lol.

Anyway! Feel free to correct me with your information! I'm open to any kind of knowledge 💖

Alrightt! Without further ado, let's deep dive into Kazama/Mishima lore!!

So...

Tekken 8 has finally dropped some lore about Kazama family, and it's about Jun to be exact. There, we can get a glimpse of Jun's parent name:

Soon after, a Japanese KazuJun's fan dropped this tweet :

Assuming a native Japanese able to decipher those characters correctly, now we finally have Jun's parents name kanji:

純一 the father, and 恵 the mother.

As we all know, kanji has several way of reading. Cited from pon-navi, there are two typical ways of reading kanji, kun-yomi and on-yomi. In addition, there is a reading system called "jinmei kun" which is used only for names.

"Soo?? What's their name?! How do we know the correct reading?!"

Here's the thing!!

Tekken has giving us hints that Mishima family has a tradition to give their children with their kanji name, following a common practice in Japan. Let's take a look at their kanji.

仁八, Jinpachi

平八, Heihachi & 一美, Kazumi

一八, Kazuya

Notice the similarities? You’re right! The Mishima child inherited their parents' kanji! The sons inherit '八' kanji, with Heihachi inherited '八' from Jinpachi and Kazuya inherited both kanji from Heihachi (八) and Kazumi (一).

As it is a common practice, the same can be said with the Kazama family! Although in their case, they might not be inheriting the kanji but instead with the reading of the said character. Or maybe phonetically similar would be correct here.

For example, this is Jun's kanji: 準

This character '準' can be read several ways, some of them are : Jun, shun, setsu, taira, toshi, narau, nori, hitoshi.

And one of her father kanji is: 純

'純' can be read as : kito, Jun, atsu, atsushi, aya, itaru, ito, kiyoshi, sunao, sumi, tsuna, to, makoto, yoshi.

Have you noticed it? That's right! '純' and '準' can be both read as Jun! It means that Jun's kanji has the same reading as her father's kanji, although they have different kanji characters.

From here, we can assume that Jun's father can be called Jun____ as well.

As for the other kanji, '一' can be read as: hito, hitotsu, hajime, ichi, itsu, i, osamu, kuni, susumu, tada, chi, nobu, hajimu, hajime, hi, hiji, hide, hitoshi, makoto, masashi, moto, ka, kazu, kata, atsu.

Looking from the lists, together his name could be read most plausibly as : Junichi, Junitsu, or Juni. Imo, Junichi sounds the best, so yeah, I completely agree with the KazuJun's fan.

Now we all know that Kazama has similar sounding name with different kanji.

On the other hand, the mother has '恵' that can be read as: megumu, megumi, kei, e, aya, sato, satoshi, shige, toshi, yasu, yoshi.

While it could be anything, I think it's either Megumi or Megumu. Why? Because I found out that '恵' has the same reading as one of Jin's kanji reading! lol. Let's take a look at Jin's kanji!

This is Jin's kanji: 仁

It can be read as: Jin, ni, nin, kimi, kimu, sato, sane, shinobu, tadashi, to, toyo, nobu, nori, hisashi, hito, hitoshi, hiroshi, masa, masashi, mi, megumi, megumu, yasushi, yoshi.

Do you find it? Both '恵' and '仁' can be read as Megumi/Megumu! lol.

One of the speculation is that Jun named her son Jin as a sign of respect to her father in law, Jinpachi (仁八). Even though Jin is a Mishima by blood, he doesn't inherit the '八' character as he was raised in Kazama family. So he inherited just the '仁' character. Besides, it also sounds almost the same. Jun.. Jin.. It's phonetically similar, right? And if Jin were born a girl, I bet he would be called Megumi/Megumu instead just like his grandmother, lol.

Thus, we can safely conclude that the Mishima has the habit to inherit their kanji characters while the Kazama inherit the reading of their kanji's name.

AND NOW! HERE COMES THE MAIN DISH!!!! 💖💖💖

What about the future Kazama kids?! Let’s move on to that and do the real cooking here for the XiaoJin's babies name! :D

We have seen Jin's kanji, but what about Xiayou?? Xiaoyu is Chinese by birth, and her hanzi (Chinese characters) are 凌曉雨 and リン・シャオユウ is how it's written in Japanese katakana.

凌, Líng: surpass / リン (Rin)

曉, Xiao: dawn / シャオ (Shao)

雨, Yu: rain / ユウ (Yu)

Now, I'd like to think that they would combine or use either their character or its reading for their baby! Also! They might use some of Jin's family name's characters :D

Here are some of my ideas for the babies name :

For boy:

晨一, Shinichi, a portmanteau of Jin and Xiaoyu's nickname and kanji inherited from Junichi/Kazuya.

Explanation: the first kanji '晨' means Dawn, which has the same meaning as Xiaoyu hanzi '曉'. The kanji reading is also the combination of Xiaoyu's nickname and Jin. Shao+Jin=Shin. It also sounds similar. Jin, Shin, it's rhyming, right? Just like Jun and Jin!

For the second kanji '一' I'd like to think the story behind it was that Xiaoyu wanted to preserve Kazama/Mishima naming practice but Jin was reluctant to do it. In the end, they decided to take the kanji '一' which was present in both Kazama and Mishima, that's in Junichi (純一) and Kazuya (一八).

For girl :

凌, Shino, a portmanteau of Xiaoyu's nickname and Jin, same character as Xiao’s hanzi that could also be the feminine ver. of Shin.

Explanation: it’s rather simple, I use the same character in Xiaoyu’s hanzi that has different reading while also the combination of Jin and Xiaoyu’s name. In Chinese ‘凌’ read as Ling but in Japanese, ‘凌’ has several reading. One of them is Shino. Shino could be the sister or the twin sister of Shinichi, in case XiaoJin have two child or twins in the future :)

琳, Rin, a kanji that has the same reading as Xiaoyu’s name and phonetically similar with Jin.

Explanation: I think this one is easy to understand! Rin and Jin, phonetically similar like what Kazama would've named their children. It’s also Xiaoyu’s surname in Japanese. The kanji ‘琳’ itself means ‘beautiful jewel’ and in Chinese the hanzi means 'beautiful jade’, and it reminds them of the greens in Yakushima forest, Jin's home.

There's meta stuff that ties into the Planetarium web, but for the most part its connection to the main JJBA universe is connections, mechanics, and cameos. ...and some things more than cameos.

The working title is

The Burning City.

Taking place after a Heaven Plan taken out at the last minute by an irate Jupiter, a town with an abundance of Stand Users works around secrets and a shadowy leader and inner circle who wants all the groups under his control.

The place is a magnet for the strange and well, bizarre. Arrows, Hamon artifacts, Stone Masks, Steel Balls, there's someone with one.

For the local residents, it's a race against time and fellow Stand Users to get what you can and hope it's enough to stop the leader.

For the outsiders... It's a threat that needs to be contained.

In a Bizarre Adventure without a typical JoJo, Yuuki "Terra" Hajimu must navigate the complicated web of past influences to find a way to take down the corrupt core of Owl City.

For Antares, why is Blake's mom using a different name?

I finally have the time to answer this, so first of all, hope you're enjoying Antares, I'm currently in a writing haze for it to make up for lost time from my uni semester. There will be more!

And to answer your question, the easy answer is that I've changed Blake's mom to basically be a different character with a different allusion. Ghira Belladonna has graciously handed his 'Bagheera' allusion to his wife, and has now taken on the allusion of Tybalt, Prince of Cats, from the tales of Reynard the Fox (famously referenced as a moniker for Tybalt in Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet).

Blake's mom in Antares, Mrs. Rajani Belladonna, fills a much different role to in the show, as Blake's storyline has changed in a few key ways as well.

The other answer, and what inspired the name change in, is because of an illuminating conversation with my friends where I found out that Kali, and similar words, while a Hindu goddess of destruction, is also a slur when referring to people, especially based on skin colour. And if you don't believe me, it's on wikipedia's list of slurs.

So, that's my reasoning for changing Blake's mom's name to Rajani, as it takes out the Actual Slur and also, since Rajani is an entirely different character pretty much compared to Show!Kali, I feel like it's a good differentation.

I read AZRE (good lord it was amazing!) And it made me think about the maternal figures in Adam's life, specially about Sienna. It is strange to that the woman that probably freed him from the SDC doesn't play a bigger role in his life or his story (in the cannon series)

I really like the idea of both having a weird mother/son relationship, where Adam admires Sienna almost too much since she saved him and took care of him, constantly craving her approval while feeling guilty about replacing his bio mom, and Sienna loves this child but can't see, at first, how her ways have pushed Adam to the edge, fueling his anger. She wants him to be happy and have a wonderful life but he is such a good soldier, so perfect to fight for their cause until everything comes crashing down.

I don't like how they killed off Sienna so let's imagine for this one she realizes they have gone too far and decides to stop Adam, not in a big fight or something like that but talking to him in private, apologizing for the path she pushed him to and telling him that she was wrong, so wrapped in her own hurt like him to see that maybe there is another way.

Adam opens up about his own demons, about his rage and hurt, about Blake's abandoment, about Cinder's threats, about his guilt and not knowing if he is the son his mother would be proud of, if Sienna would be proud of him.

Both cry and hug eachother, knowing the path of gealing would be long and thought but worthy in the end.

When they eventually cross paths with the Belladonnas, they accept their ways were not the right ones (and Adam apologizing to Blake) but they werent right either, running away and submiting to their abusers. They tell them off for all they are worth and put them on a crossroads, they either do something or shut the fuck up.

I think this last part would be a good jumping up point for Blake to do something and not be a pampered princess and actually do something for the faunus.

Thanks for your nice words about AZRE! Funnily enough, AZRE!Adam has far more issues regarding maternal figures than paternal figures, since well, he really didn’t have that in his life. His mother, Hajimu and then Kaanchana are all maternal figures in his life, but Sienna really isn’t for him. She’s more of a mentor for him later in the story when we actually get to see her.

As for your suggestion, I do wish there was more of a relationship for Adam outside of Blake, and Sienna would’ve been the best candidate. This is not only the woman who gave him a place in the world with Ghira, but constantly defended and validated him. Do I think Adam needed validation when he was starting to murk people without cause? No, but the fact that Sienna did should’ve had more of an impact on Adam and their relationship.

It’s honestly sad that we didn’t get that. Adam just treats Sienna like he treats everyone, when this could’ve been a good moment for a peek into who Adam really is that isn’t marred by his relationship to Blake.

Gimana dong yang benar?

Simak ulasan Imam Ibnu Taimiyyah berikut:

“ Dianjurkan kepada para ma’mum untuk tetap mengikuti imamnya dalam perkara perkara yang termasuk ranah perbedaan ijtihad.

Bila imam Qunut maka ma’mum ikut qunut bersamanya, dan bila imam tidak qunut maka iapun ikut tidak berqunut bersamanya.

Karena Nabi shallallahu alaihi wa sallam bersabda: إنما جعل الإمام ليؤتم به Sejatinya diadakannya imam itu untuk diikuti.

Dan beliau juga bersabda: لا تختلفو على أئمتكم “Janganlah kalian menyelisihi imam imam kalian.”

Dan telah diriwayatkan pada hadits yang shahih bahwa beliau bersabda: يصلون لكم فان أصابوا فلكم ولهم وإن أخطؤوا فلكم وعليهم ”Para imam itu memimpin kalian mendirikan shalat , bila mereka benar dalam shalatnya, maka itu membawa pahala untuk kalian dan mereka, namun bila mereka berbuat kesalahan dalam shalatnya, maka itu membawa pahala bagi kalian sedang bagi mereka, kesalahan itu membawa dosa..”

Oleh karena itu dahulu Ibnu Mas’ud mengingkari khalifah Utsman bin Affan yang shalat genap (4rakaat) di saat berada di Mina, kemudian ketika tiba waktu shalat, beliau tetapbikut shalat empat rakaat. Dan tatkala beliau ditanya perihal sikapnya ini, beliau menjawab: الخلاف شر “Pertentangan itu buruk.” Demikian pula sahabat Anas bin Malik tatkala ditanya tentang waktu melempar jumrah, beliau menjawab sesuai pendapatnya, kemudian ia berpesan: tunaikanlah hajimu sebagaimana imammu menunaikannya”.

Selamat Tinggal (?)

Sudah lebih dari dua pekan semenjak pertemuan kita pertama kali di Istanbul kala itu. Kau tau, Istanbul Airport dan Turkish Airline menjadi salah satu yang memili arti lebih untukku sejak pertemuan kita. Jika ku diperkenankan untuk mengulang waktu, ku akan menjadi orang pertama yang membuka percakapan. Sehingga ku tidak perlu menyesal seperti ini. 

Sudah lebih dari dua pekan semenjak pertemuan kita kala itu, dan ku masih belum juga menemukan siapa dirimu. Satu-satunya yang dapat ku temukan adalah potret dirimu dari travel agen hajimu. Sudah ku cari ke penjuru sosial media, sudah ku cari dengan berbagai macam cara, sudah ku sabar menanti selama dua pekan ini. Apakah mungkin ku memerlukan lebih banyak sabar? Apakah ku memerlukan lebih banyak waktu?

Ku sudah kehabisan akal harus mencarimu dimana dan bagaimana lagi. Sedangkan rasa ini sudah mulai memudar. Ku tiada kuasa untuk mengontrol hati ini. Thought I should give a TLDR on my au.

Planetarium.

Everything is roughly the same except:

I have a total of ten ocs and one fan part messing with things. The Ocs are side characters in the original story, ranging from cameos to actually being important to the plot.

Meta differences:

This does not account for the Split after part six. Things intervened so it didn't fully go through, but there are definitely consequences. (The split happened somewhere and some-when else.)

(I apologize for SBR and JJL fans. I am refraining from going there. I do not know enough to give it justice.)

Stand Users, Hamon Users, and Worthy people have more Gravity. Even more than in canon.

If you have a Destiny Mark (Joestar birthmark, Dio's triple mole mark on his ear, and my original Planetary spiritual succession), it is amplified to almost comical degrees.

You are Going to follow Destiny whether you like it or not.

Things are butterfly effected into existence. There is also a lot more preemptive research done on Pillar Men, Hamon, and Stands.

Death and spirits are a lot more fluid. This is not a case of reincarnation via stands but under very specific circumstances ghosts with fully intact memories and/or stands can be... made.
