shouto as a dad gets pulled around by his lil girl and tugged into her room and she sits him down in front of her play kitchen and balls up a bunch of different play-doh colors and hands it to him on a plate and he pretends to take a bite and then tells her with a straight face that it's the best meal he's ever eaten

With your I’ll be there for you series would you be interested in writing about Steve discovering that he has feelings for reader? I think it would be sweet for him to just find even the silliest things she does cute and then him having a little melt down because he realised he’s liked her along. The series is such a great idea! 💭

Winter 1986
You were in the middle of debating between a black skirt and a brown plaid one that Robin convinced you to buy when you two went thrifting just a few days ago when the phone rang.
Leaving both options on your bed, you went to the kitchen to answer it, bottomless aside from the stockings you had already put on because of the cold late February weather.
“Hello?”
“Hello?”
“Steve?” You recognized his voice for the most part, but he sounded a little different. A little far away, like he was calling from the oldest phone in the universe.
“Oh, hey.” The way he said the simple two words both confused and amused you because it sounded as if he didn’t expect you to be the person on the other end of the line.
You laughed a bit. “‘Oh, hey’? Don’t sound so disappointed. You called me.”
“I know. Sorry. I meant to call Eddie,” He said, and it was then that you heard what should’ve been obvious from the moment he said “Hello” to you— the way his words weren’t necessarily slurry, just slower than usual.
He was drunk, and you now recognized the voice that you had become so used to hearing since Steve’s sixteenth birthday when he snuck his dad’s whiskey and you both only had two shots of it before feeling it fully.
“Why would you call him? Aren’t you two together right now?” You asked, your confusion taking precedence over the amusement you felt in this moment.
Earlier that day, before you left the apartment to head to your twelve o’clock class, he told you that he was going to tag along with Robin, Vickie, and Eddie to some art show thing after his shift that night at Family Video; you would’ve gone too if you didn’t already have plans for the night.
“Also, I didn’t know that you could get drunk at an art show,” You added. “I’ll definitely make sure to go next time.”
“I didn’t go with them,” He told you, and before you could ask where he was, he answered the unspoken question. “I’m actually at a bar right now.”
Your eyebrows furrowed. “What? Why?”
“Very long story. Dad shit. What else is new, right?” Steve answered with a breath of a laugh.
He made his words sound lighthearted and as if whatever happened didn’t really affect him, but you, of course, didn’t see it that way. Without even being with Steve right then, standing in front of him and reading his facial expressions, you still saw through what he was trying to play off as “no big deal.” You’d known him more than long enough to know that anything involving his dad was usually always serious. And whatever shitty things his dad said to him this time around drove Steve to a bar rather than back here to the apartment to frustratingly rant to you, and that only worried you.
“Which bar are you at?” You asked softly.
“The only place in town, other than The Hideout, that doesn’t card,” He said and then immediately continued. “But, wait, don’t come here, though. I don’t want you to come get me. That’s why I was trying to call Eddie. I know you have your date tonight.”
Just for a second— actually, probably the entire time you’d been talking to Steve— you’d forgotten about the date, forgotten about the reason why you’d just been debating which skirt to wear, forgotten about what you were supposed to leave for in twenty minutes. And that slightly surprised you because, for the last couple of days, you’d been really excited about it.
Meeting Jamie felt like a sort of “meet cute” moment that was straight out of a romcom, one that you probably would’ve laughed at because of how cheesy it was. You bumped into him in the hallway on the floor of your apartment. He was your neighbor’s, Miss Johnson’s, nephew, and you learned that even though he went to a college about an hour away, he was trying to visit her more often. He had been in the middle of leaving when you saw him, and you gave a friendly wave and smile at first and he started a conversation with you. You two then spent an hour talking in the hallway before you headed inside your apartment to start studying for a test and he asked for your number, which led to more long conversations over the next few days until he asked you on a date.
In a way, it startled you how giddy you found yourself feeling about him after only those few days, how easily and quickly you liked him. It was the first crush that you had in a while that didn’t feel completely hopeless.
But now all of that was the last thing on your mind. It quickly became pushed to the side because you knew that your best friend needed you.
You shook your head in this moment even though Steve couldn’t see you. “No, it’s okay, I’ll come.”
“No, don’t, don’t. I’ll just call Eddie.”
He’s probably not home right now, was what you wanted to tell Steve, but you refrained from doing so at that moment. Instead, you said, “I’ll call him for you.”
The drunken sigh in relief Steve let out was immediate. “Okay, thanks, I don’t think I have any more change for this payphone, anyway.”
“Okay, just stay put and stop drinking.”
“The bartender already cut me off.”
“Good,” You said before saying a final goodbye to him and hanging up.
You then picked the phone up again to dial a different number. You, of course, didn’t attempt to call Eddie and you instead called Jamie. He was completely understanding when you told him that you had to cancel the date because of an emergency, and he said that you two could do the dinner and movie on a different night, which you quickly agreed on.
You put on the brown plaid skirt— quickly deciding that it looked better with the white top you were wearing, anyway— before slipping on a pair of shoes and grabbing your coat, shoving your car keys and wallet into the pockets, and then leaving the apartment.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The drive to Webster’s took less than fifteen minutes and the current emptiness of it didn’t surprise you that much. From the handful of times that you’d gone to the place with Steve, Eddie, and Robin, it became a known fact that things didn’t become “lively” until after ten, and it was currently only a little after nine.
You spotted Steve sitting on a stool at the counter, head down in his folded arms. You sat in the empty seat next to him and tapped the side of his shoulder until he sat up and looked at you.
“Glad to know you’re alive, Harrington.”
He smiled at you and you gave him a small smile back, he must have forgotten that he’d told you not to come to the bar.
“I feel barely alive, actually.”
“Still counts.”
Steve only looked at you for a moment, taking notice of what you were wearing beneath your unzipped coat.
“You look nice,” He said and then seemed to realize something and his smile dropped. “Wait, shit, your date. You shouldn’t be here right now.”
“It’s fine. We’re just gonna reschedule it.”
“I’m sorry.”
You shook your head at him. “No, don’t be. It’s just a first date, anyway. Your drunk ass needing a ride home is obviously more important than that.”
Steve laughed a bit. “I guess I’ll take that as a compliment?”
“Yes, you should,” You told him and then watched with furrowed brows as he went to grab the short glass that was in front of him, half full of some dark liquor. He was about to finish what was left in the glass, but you grabbed it from him before he could. “Steve.”
“I still had this from before I called you. I can’t finish it?”
“No, because if you end up throwing up in my car on the drive home, I will have to murder you.”
You looked away from him before he could say anything in response to that and waved at Barry, the usual bartender that you became on a first name basis with after your third time going to Webster’s. Since it was the farthest thing from busy right then, he immediately walked over to you two.
“Hey, Barry, can he have some water?”
He nodded and filled up a glass, sliding it over to Steve and then looking at you. “Glad to see you here. He’s looked like a sad little lost puppy for the past hour.”
Steve stopped mid-sip to scoff. “That’s very not true.”
“Sorry, but I think I have to believe the only other sober person here,” You said and only smiled at the second annoyed scoff he let out, which was hard to take seriously because of his current drunkenness.
Barry got called over by a group of people that just walked in and you silently watched Steve take a few sips from his glass. When he set it down, you lightly nudged his knee with yours. “Do you wanna talk about what happened with your dad?”
Steve simply sighed at first. “He came to Family Video today and went on this huge rant about me and what I’m doing with my life. He thinks my job is shit, and even me going to school part-time isn’t enough. He thinks I’m such a loser in comparison to his friend’s kids who are actually “doing things with their lives.””
You frowned and shook your head. “Fuck him.”
“Cheers to that,” Steve said with a small laugh and held up his glass of water for a second. “He also said that he wants to set me up with this job at his friend’s insurance company, and I immediately said no to that. I’m still not entirely sure what I wanna do yet, but I know it’s not that— some stupid fucking desk job. Especially not one that’s just given to me by my dad.”
“He’s an idiot,” You told Steve. “And also his bullshit is not at all worth the hangover you’ll have in the morning.”
“You might be right about that,” He responded, eyes fixed on his now half-empty glass of water and a small amused smile on his face. “But, it felt good for a second.”
You poked his arm so that he would look at you. “You could’ve talked to me about all of that instead of coming here.”
“I didn’t wanna mess up your date by coming home and talking to you about all of this sad shit. I knew that you’d just worry about me and probably not go,” He mumbled. “And I feel like a dumbass for still messing it up.”
“It’s okay. Seriously. Honestly,” You told him and then playfully smiled as you said your next words. “And you know that I would tell you if it wasn’t okay. I’d definitely hold this over you for at least a week, and force you to clean out Harold’s cage and do my laundry that’s been building up for the past week and a half. But you’re drunk and sad, and I’m way too nice to make you do any of those things.”
He laughed at that, which made you smile wider. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” You said before you stood up from the stool you’d been sitting in. “Now, come on, let’s get out of here before it starts getting crowded. Can you walk okay?”
Steve only nodded in response, which was a nonverbal answer that you weren’t sure if you completely trusted, so you stood close to him as he also got up and pulled some cash out of his back pocket and placed it on the counter.
He then waved at Barry, and you were certain that he probably didn’t mean for it to be so animated and comical, but it very much looked that way. “Goodnight, Barry.”
The bartender laughed a bit when he looked over at you and Steve. “‘Night, guys.”
Steve started heading toward the door first and you followed just a few steps behind him. When he stumbled a bit before even making it out of the door, you grabbed his hand and moved closer to him so that he could drape his arm around your shoulders, and then one of yours circled around his waist.
Leading him to your car was a feat in itself, but once he was settled in the passenger seat and you started driving, he rolled his window down completely and had it like that during the entire ride even though it was freezing cold outside, and that was worse than dealing with his stumbling.
When you made it to the apartment building, his balance was actually a bit more coherent so you didn’t need to do more than just hold his hand during the entire walk to the elevators and then down the hallway to the apartment.
You dragged him to your room and he sighed in contentment when he sat down on the side of your bed; he always liked your mattress better than his own for some reason.
“Wait, don’t fall asleep yet,” You told him before heading over to his room and grabbing a random t-shirt and basketball shorts from one of his drawers. “Here, put this on. I know you’d be mad at me if I let you fall asleep in those jeans.”
“Thanks,” He mumbled with a yawn as you handed the clothes over to him, and then you went to the kitchen as he started changing.
You filled a mug with water and then pulled open the drawer that had the bottle of aspirin in it. Neither you nor Steve were really sure why it lived there instead of in one of your bathrooms, where it probably should’ve been, but you two also didn’t make any effort to move it.
Steve was already asleep and under the covers when you walked back into your room, and you placed the mug and aspirin on the nightstand on his side. You changed into your own pajamas for the night, which simply consisted of an old baggy t-shirt and shorts, before settling in on your side of the bed.
It was still pretty early for a Friday night, barely even ten o’clock, but you didn’t mind going to bed because you were actually a little tired. Steve was turned and facing away from you, but you still watched him and his even breathing for a bit, making sure he was okay before you quickly drifted off to sleep yourself.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。. .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Steve didn’t know what time it was when he woke up, but he could tell that it was pretty early because he could see the just sun starting to rise.
The other things he quickly noticed were that he was in your bed and he had a pounding headache, which was a little confusing at first, but then all of what happened last night started coming back to him.
The shit with his dad, the bar, the accidental phone call to you, and then you coming to the bar and bringing him home— he remembered it all.
With a soft groan, Steve slowly sat up in bed, doing his best not to wake you, and then reached over to grab the water and aspirin you left out for him.
He took the medicine and drank most of the water and then laid back down, turning on his side to face you. Your head was against the pillow and even breaths fell from your slightly parted lips. You looked so peaceful like this, he decided, so pretty.
Steve thought about you and Jamie, and how happy you had been when you talked about him. Steve also knew how excited you’d been about the date, and even though you had told him that it was okay that you had to cancel it last night, he still felt a little bad about it all.
He knew that you would probably do anything for him, and that was completely mutual. If the roles had been reversed last night, Steve wouldn’t have thought twice about canceling a date to go pick you up from some dumb bar. And making those sorts of sacrifices for one another never felt like a question, it just always felt like the obvious thing to do.
It didn’t completely make sense at first, but somehow it was that simple and crystal clear thought that managed to shift something deep down inside of him— it harshly drew the line between best friends and something more. And Steve quickly realized exactly which side he lay on.
Which was confusing because the lines of where your friendship began and ended had always felt so unquestionable— you and him were best friends; nothing more, nothing less.
But it was different now, it changed, and it was this moment that told him that it actually had been that way for a while; probably since you two moved into the apartment.
Starting from that day in August your lives became even more intertwined with one another— which didn’t feel entirely possible because of how close you’d been for so long— but it was true. He hadn’t realized how blurry the lines had been getting since then.
Since you two started beginning your days and ending them in the same home. Since so many nights became spent in each other’s beds; nothing more happening than sleeping and late night talking, but still. Since you two got Harold only a few weeks into living in the apartment, and you both immediately fell into your unserious parental roles in the hamster’s life. Since an unspoken early morning weekend routine fell into place where Steve would make coffee and toast and you’d do the eggs and bacon. Since you two became something equivalent to a married couple that had been together for at least twenty years.
And then Steve realized that actually maybe this something more had always been there— maybe it had always been so fucking obvious.
He thought back to the end of Senior year when you two went to each other’s proms and slow danced at the end of the night because you both thought it would be funny, but those moments actually turned into something really sweet and wholesome; and you’d both think back on it during the most randomest of times.
And then he also thought about smaller things, the parts of your personality that made him feel so goddamn lucky to know you. How you always fiddled with the radio and never settled on a station for longer than a few minutes during perhaps any car ride where Steve was the one driving; something that you’d been doing since the day he got his driver's license and you two went on your first solo car ride together. How pretty much anything you did would only make him smile and playfully roll his eyes or make fun of you.
Steve wasn’t entirely sure why he was having this sort of “epiphany moment” right here, right now, in your bed as he looked at you peacefully sleeping next to him.
It, of course, stemmed from you canceling something that he had known you’d been looking forward to for the last couple of days to instead take care of him, he could recognize that. But, what made that so different from everything else you’d done for each other over the years?
He immediately thought that maybe there was no one straight answer to that question because it wasn’t about what was different. Instead, it was about all of those other moments too. They had slowly built upon each other until it came to this one on this February morning— nine years into your friendship and six and a half months into you two living together— and Steve could finally recognize what it all had meant, and he was ready to accept the truth for what it was too.
He liked you. More than liked, actually. He loved you, he was in love with you.
But, you were also his best friend, the most important person in his life, and he didn’t want to be the reason that that ever got messed up. And that thought was what made him finally look away from you and mutter out a soft, “Fuck.”
Steve quickly got out of the bed, and he was surprised, but also completely grateful, that his quick and hasty movements didn’t manage to stir you awake.
He left your room and went to the kitchen. It was early and he probably should’ve been trying to get a few more hours of sleep, but he wasn’t tired anymore.
The realization was the only thing on his mind— in a matter of seconds, it managed to completely consume it.
Everything else that had been happening the past few months finally made complete sense; Steve saw it all in a different way. He now understood why he couldn’t picture any sort of future with Vanessa when he went out with her a few times back in December even though he really did like her, and why he couldn’t see anything with anyone he went out with. Because deep down, he knew that he could only see that with you. It made sense why his dating life had been in such a rut lately and why he didn’t particularly mind it all that much.
When you two would jokingly say that you both were completely okay with ending up “alone together forever,” he realized now that from his side of things, deep down, it had never been a joke. And he wondered if it was the same way for you.
In an ideal world, the answer would be yes. But, things only felt confusing, and if he was being a thousand percent honest with himself, he didn’t know if that answer was yes in this world.
Steve knew that you really liked Jamie, even in such a short amount of time, so that couldn’t mean that you had any sort of feelings for him. Right? Or maybe you just hadn’t had your own “epiphany moment” yet? Should he tell you about his? Should he tell you about any of what just hit him in the past ten minutes?
His brain felt as if it was going to fucking explode with all of the questions circling his mind right then, and the coffee he was making failed to distract his thoughts from everything.
He came to the quick decision that he wouldn’t tell you what he was feeling; it would just be easier that way. There wouldn’t be any way for him to potentially fuck things up between you two if he simply ignored what he was feeling. It was easy to imagine how drastically your friendship would change if he told you everything and you didn’t feel the same. Therefore, he could push it all away to make sure that nothing changed for the worse.
When the coffee was done, he poured some into a fresh mug and took a long sip. Any other time, he couldn’t really stand straight black coffee, but the bitterness tasted good for once; he decided to focus on that instead of anything else.
Steve wasn’t sure how long he had been leaning back against the counter and sipping from his mug before you came out of your room. It could’ve been one minute or ten; right then, time felt as if it was moving both slow and fast.
“Hey,” You said, giving him a small smile and rubbing the tiredness out of your eyes. “I’m surprised you’re up already. I definitely expected you to be passed out until at least ten.”
It felt equivalent to a light switch flipping how quickly Steve felt affected by your smile and simply you in that moment. He’d probably seen you like this a million times before— just waking up and still in your now wrinkled pajamas from the night— but it felt entirely different now. And that was when he knew how fucked he was.
“Yeah, I, uh, I woke up and couldn’t, um, go back to sleep… So, yeah, just came out here. Made some, um, coffee,” He ultimately responded and then inwardly sighed at how flustered he was right then. He let out a quick laugh. “Sorry, blame the hangover for my inability to say sentences right now.”
If that was how he was going to act around you from now on, he knew that trying to keep this a secret was probably the most unrealistic idea ever.
You laughed a bit and nodded, seemingly unfazed by his awkwardness right then, and opened up the fridge. “You think you can stomach eggs and bacon?”
“Yes to the bacon, but I think I should play it safe and say no to the eggs.”
“Makes sense,” You said, closing the fridge after grabbing the bacon. You placed the pack on the counter near the stove and then looked at Steve. “You feeling better about all of that dad shit?”
It was almost comical how even though it had been the reason for everything that happened last night, the conversation he had with his dad was the farthest thing from his mind now.
“I’m good, actually.”
“Good,” You said, smiling at him and then reaching out to grab his hand and give it a light reassuring squeeze; which, unknown to you, made his heart feel as if it was going to somersault out of his chest. “Remember, the next time this happens, come to me and we both can get drunk here for free. Or we can just run away and join the circus, or whatever it was we agreed on when we were twelve.”
Steve only nodded and gave you a small smile in response because it felt as if that was all he could do at that moment. If he attempted to say anything, he felt like his words would’ve started or ended with, “I’m in love with you.”
He changed his decision then. He knew that he had to tell you everything because it wouldn’t be easy to simply bury it down and ignore it. There was no way that he’d be able to keep this from you, at least not for a long time, it was already swallowing him whole. And although he had no idea when or how he would tell you the truth, he made a quick promise to himself that he would do it.

So, the Haunting Heroes server did a Who Wrote That game with the theme of "wingfic" a while back. I did an entry and I liked it enough that I decided to expand on it. Gonna start posting scenes here whenever I get them done, and eventually piece it together for ao3. This first part is the intro, but the rest probably won't actually be in order.
Update Mar 11, 2024: Here is the Subscription Post
Ectoplasm Gives You Wings
(Working title)
DPxDC, T-rated genfic.
Everyone knew ghosts had wings. It was in every ghost story throughout history, regardless of culture. It was one of their defining traits, like going through walls or fading into invisibility. The unquiet dead soared through the night on birdlike wings, occasionally leaving unnaturally large feathers as an omen of impending death.
As soon as the newly-working portal spat Danny out, he knew there would be no hiding what had happened. His ghostly form came with a pair of large wings that didn't go away when he turned back human. In his ghost form, they were mostly black with bars of white near the bottom edge. The reverse was true when he was human. It was an indication of what had happened to him that he couldn't escape.
Tucker and Sam tried to play it off to his parents as a meta mutation that had suddenly appeared. They'd heard of it happening before on TV and through the internet. Besides, there were winged people in the Justice League. Danny's parents had never talked about them being secret ghosts.
Danny would never forget his parents' horrified faces as they came downstairs and found him. The way their eyes skipped over his face entirely and focused on the wings behind him. His dad frozen in place, expression slack with shock. His mom's face going from horror to determination as she set her jaw and reached for a bazooka.
Danny and his friends managed to escape them and run all the way to Tucker's house. Running was harder with a new pair of limbs hanging off his back like so much dead (hah) weight. It was clear that Danny couldn't stay here. His parents might be cranks, but once they realized the portal worked they would have evidence to prove Danny was a ghost. At least, sort of. Would they try to experiment on him, or just try to help him pass on? Danny assumed it would be the latter, but he had also assumed his mom wouldn't ever draw a weapon on him.
Tucker and Sam helped him to pack a camping backpack full of spare clothes he'd left at Tucker's, a handful of important essentials like a first aid kit, and a sleeping bag. They left for a while and came back with a cheap cellphone, a handful of prepaid phone cards, and a surprising amount of cash. Who would have thought Sam was secretly loaded?
They argued all night about where he should go. Danny barely knew his Dad's side of the family, let alone whether they'd take him in. His mom's sister Alicia was somewhere in Arkansas, but Danny couldn't remember the name of the town. Besides, he hadn't seen her since he was about nine. What if she believed Maddie over him? Tucker and Sam suggested their own family members. Danny turned them down. He didn't want to be a burden to his friends' families.
In the end, they decided that he would blend in best in a big city far away from Amity. The next day, Danny climbed on a Greyhound bus headed to the East Coast. He couldn't hide the wings, no matter what he did. The best he could do was wrap the sleeping bag around himself like a blanket. Thankfully, no one on the bus seemed to care. They all had their own issues to worry about. Most seemed content to watch their phones or the scenery instead of looking too closely at the weird kid wrapped in a big, lumpy sleeping bag.
As the hours dragged on, Danny was increasingly greatful that everyone was minding their own business. There was something else wrong with him. His hands kept slipping through the sleeping bag. Going through solid objects, like a ghost.
The plan was to find a place in Metropolis that provided resources to meta kids. But by the time the bus reached Gotham Danny was exhausted and anxious. His hands had started to go through things. What if he went straight through the bus while it was driving? He had to get a handle on this. He could always go to Metropolis the next day.
Danny got off the bus. The city around him was gray and dreary, from the concrete sidewalks up to the cloud-covered sky. It felt like the sky was too close, more of a ceiling than an open expanse. Something about it gave Danny a strangely claustrophobic feeling. He tried to shrug it off as the lack of sleep catching up to him. The last time Danny slept was the night before the portal accident. That had been well over twenty-four hours ago. He needed to find a safe place to sleep.

Pairing: Mason Mount x Reader
Summary: Reader is a single mom and the new Social Media Executive of the club and Mason falls in love with her at first sign.
Word count: 2293
Read part 2 here and part 3 here
Author's note: English isn't my first language, so I apologise for my mistakes. I'm also pretty sure I got some words American - British mixed up.
Call me friend but keep me closer (call me back) And I'll call you when the party's over
It has been four months since you returned to England. The home you had been away from for far too long. A new house and a new job were just what you needed in your life.
After you left and made a living in the States, you felt the need to come back home and be close to your family and old friends. Everything felt right.
"Yes mum, tomorrow is fine." You were tidying your desk before leaving when your phone rang. "Listen, I have to go, but I'll call you when I get home. Say hi to Dad for me. Love you too."
You ended the call and grabbed your handbag with some papers to take home. Before closing the door, you grabbed Noah's bag, which he had left on the floor even though you told him to put it on the sofa.
You were looking at the papers in your hand when you saw Chilwell enter, with his hair sweaty and laughing alone. He looked up and pointed his finger at you.
"You!" Even though you hadn't been in the club that long, everyone on the team made you feel welcome, especially the boys because you were about the same age as most of them. "Your boy is going to be a footballer."
You laughed at his comment. "He kicked a lot when I was pregnant. Where is he?"
"He's still in the field." You furrow your brows. Why was he still there? You thought to yourself. "He's playing with Kai and Mason." Your heart did a little jump when you heard his name, something that had happened since the first time you saw him. "You have to go get him or they'll stay there for the rest of the day." He said goodbye and went into the changing room.
You took a deep breath and tried to calm your heart. You hadn't seen Mason all day and you expected it to stay that way, but your son had other plans for you.
You felt like a teenager in love when you were around the handsome footballer.
"Noah!" You shouted at the boys on the field. Kai was lying down on the grass, breathing heavily, while Noah was trying to take the ball away from Mason.
"Mum!" Noah shouted back when he heard his name. The game stopped automatically and everyone looked at you. Without realising it, your eyes stayed on Mason longer than necessary. "No. Already?" He whined.
Kai stood up and Mason picked up the ball. With a sad expression on his face and Mason's hand on his shoulder, Noah and the two boys walked towards you.
"It's time to go. It's already late. Mason and Kai can't play with you forever."
"They're unstoppable, of course they can." The two footballers laughed at the boy's remark. "Let's stay a little longer, please." He pleaded, giving you those puppy eyes.
"Noah, they want to go too." The boy looked at Mason and then at Kai.
Kai shrugged his shoulders. "Mate, mothers are always right. We can play tomorrow!" He smiled and messed up his hair.
He looked down at the ground and heaved a sigh. "I can't tomorrow. I have a school trip."
Mason, like everyone at the club, really liked your son and when he saw how sad he looked and sounded, he couldn't just let him go home. He knew he'd give you a hard time for not letting him stay longer. "He can stay with me. I'll take him home." Noah's eyes lighten up.
Since their approach, you looked Mason in the eyes for the first time. "I cannot ask that of you."
"You're not asking. I'm offering." Beside him, Kai smiled subtly at his friend's amorous look. "And it's on my way home."
"I don---"
Noah hugged you and quickly interrupted what you were about to say. "Please, mum. Pleaseeeee. I'll never ask you for anything else ever again." You rolled your eyes, knowing full well he wouldn't keep his promise, not even for a day. "He has a Lamborghini." He whispered loudly enough.
Out of the corner of your eye you saw Mason smile. Oh, that smile!
"And we have a Ford in your favourite colour." He pouted. You gave Mason one last look to make sure everything was okay, and he nodded. Were you seriously going to leave your son with a guy you hadn't known for that long? Mason Mount really made you feel like you were out of control. You squatted down to his level and held him still. "Listen to Mason. Don't give him any trouble. Be nice. Agreed?" Noah smiled and nodded. He hugged you one last time before grabbing the ball from Mason's hand and running back onto the field.
"He has a future in football. He kicked our butts back there." Said Kai to you.
"Yeah, that's what Ben said too."
"Don't worry about it. I'll text you when we leave." Something in his voice and his words made you feel good, maybe because you knew how good he was with children. How good he was with Noah.
"Thanks, Mason. Just… don't stay because he wants you to. If you want to go, drag him out."
You said your goodbyes, leaving the two friends behind. Mason followed you with his eyes until you disappeared.
"What?" He asked when he saw Kai already looking at him with his arms folded and a grin on his face.
"Just ask her out. You two are making me gag with so much tension."
"Do you think I haven't already?" It was true that Mason had a gigantic crush on you. Everyone knew it. And so did you. It wasn't a secret. He never tried to hide it. Every opportunity he had to get close to you, he took it. The only obstacle was you. "She pushes me away every time. I take one step forward, she takes two steps back."
"Probably because she's afraid you'll break her heart. I know she likes you." He looked at your son, who was running around with the ball. "We don't know what happened with her and Noah's father. It probably didn't end well and that's why she's the way she is."
There was no question that you were better at hiding your feelings than Mason, but it was obvious to everyone that he was more than just a colleague of yours.
"I'll ask her again when I've dropped Noah off. I'm not giving up on her that easily. I really like her. I really do."
You were watching the latest episode of your favourite show when you got Mason's text saying they were on their way home. You couldn't help but feel nervous. What would you do when Mason showed up at your door with your son by his side? Would you let him in? Would he want to come in? Would he try to flirt like he always does?
You stopped scratching your nails and got up from the sofa. You went to the kitchen and started cleaning it. You had to do something to clear your head.
You had just finished drying the dishes, something you never do, when you heard and saw the headlights of Mason's car through the window. You felt the butterflies in your stomach, something that never happened with Noah's father.
Mason parked the car next to yours and looked back at your son, who after five minutes had fallen asleep in the car he was so looking forward to. He got out of the car and opened the back door. He took the belt off Noah's body and carefully lifted him up.
You opened the door before he could knock. You had a gentle expression on your face when you saw your son in Mason's arms. He looked peaceful, with his little arms around his neck and his head on his shoulder.
"He fell asleep on the way here."
You smiled. "'After dinner and a good bath, he'll sleep all night. Why don't you come in?" You took a step back to let him into the house.
"I'm sorry. I lost track of time."
You slowly closed the door behind them. "It's fine."
He looked around quickly. "Do you want to wake him up or…?"
"Yes. Just let me heat the bath water for him." Mason handed you your son and the little boy slowly opened his eyes and said something under his breath that he didn't understand. "Make yourself at home. I'll be right back.
Mason bit his lip as he watched you walk down the hall and disappear into a room he assumed was the bathroom.
While you were gone, he took the time to look at the photos on the wall. Most were of Noah when he was a baby, and some were probably of your parents and grandparents. But it was one photo in particular, lying on the coffee table next to your sofa, that caught his attention and he couldn't help but pick it up.
It was a photo of you in black and white. You had a travel bag next to you and a big smile on your face. You looked happy and he couldn't help smiling when he saw the photo.
He put down the frame when he heard the notification of his phone. He pulled it out of his jacket and saw a message from Kai in the group they had with the boys on WhatsApp.
Kai: @Mason M. asked her out already? Ben: What's going on? Has our boy grown a pair? Mason: Shut up you two!
You cleared your throat. He turned around and quickly put his phone on silent, because he knew the boys would start making fun of him.
"Do you want a drink?" You went into the kitchen and he followed. "Water, tea, some kind of apple juice that only Noah likes?"
Your kitchen wasn't the biggest, but you felt that Mason had become a little too close for - the normal behaviour of your heart - your liking.
"Tea would be great." He wasn't a tea guy, but it was the choice that would get him more time with you.
"Good." You started making the tea while Mason leaned against the counter beside you. "Thanks for spending the day with him. I know it means a lot to him."
"What about you? How much did it mean to you?" There it was. With one hand in the pocket of his jogger and the other resting on the counter, he turned his body towards you. He was so close that you could feel his breath on your ear.
"Of course it means a lot to me too. Noah really likes you and I'm glad you like him too." You said without looking at him. You knew where he was going with his question, but you couldn't give him any hope. "Milk?"
"Noah isn't the only one I like." He said, ignoring your question. You swallowed the lump in your throat and turned to him, ready to tell him to stop, but he was quicker. He took a step forward and you jerk back a step. "I like his mother very much. And when I try to tell her that, she shuts down. Maybe she's scared or just doesn't want a relationship right now." You had your back against the fridge and Mason put his hand next to you, trapping you. "But I know she likes me too."
"Mason, stop." You whispered.
His eyes glanced back and forth between your eyes and your lips, and when you saw his tongue dart out to wet his own lips, you had to control yourself not to jump forward and join your lips with his.
"When will you accept my offer and go out with me?"
"I don-- we don't--"
"Just give me a chance. I won't break your heart if that's what you're worried about."
"Mason." He loved the sound of his name when you said it. "I'm a single mother of a seven-year-old boy, still have a house to pay off and a car I've been putting off changing because I need to be responsible with my money. We have completely different lives."
"Well, we like each other. Isn't that enough?" You run your hands down your face. "I don't care if you have a son or if our bank accounts have different numbers. I really like you. Like I've never liked anyone before."
You pushed his arm down so you could escape from his hold. You didn't deny that the feelings were mutual and he took that as a victory. At least now he knew he wasn't imagining the long looks you gave him when you thought he wasn't looking, or how nervous you felt every time he came closer, or the sound of your heartbeat when your lips almost touched a few times already.
He gently grasped your wrist and drew you to him. You put a hand on his chest so you wouldn't bump into him. "Just one date, please?"
You stared at him, it felt like an eternity until he started leaning down to kiss you. You weren't brave enough to push him away, and you didn't want to, so you closed your eyes instead. Your lips were about to touch when you heard Noah.
"MUM!"
You both took a step back and let out a deep sigh. "And that is why we---"
"Don't say that's why we can't be together." He put his hands playfully over his ears. "I'll wait for your answer tomorrow. Good night, beautiful." He cupped your face and a second later he walked out of the house, leaving you standing in your kitchen with a pathetic smile on your face.

BESTIEEE I know you’re probably not taking any request now but… since I’m a slut for angst… it came up in my mind reader and Joel being together, she wants kids, he doesn’t since he’s way older than her and already had Sarah so he’s not up to have another kid at his age and reader agreed with that for the sake of their relationship and because she just loves Joel so damn much so she’s willing to give up her desire of becoming a mom. But they’re like at a friend party or at the park and he sees her playing with some friend’s kids and her eyes just sparkle so Joel feels sad for taking away that from her and he gives her the talk “I love you but I need to let you go cause I just want your happiness so she can have kids with someone else and the end is up to you 🥹❤️❤️
No outbreak!Joel Miller x f!reader
A/N: hi bestie, I know it's been a few days since I got this ask, and even if I was focused on a certain cowboy, you can be sure this lovely idea hasn't left my mind because it's just so perfect and great, thank you for sharing 🤌
Tumblr media
• when you'd traced plans in your life, you had always established some goals: study, get a nice job, travel, be happy, get married and have a family. That was pretty much all you wanted from life, since it seemed only fair you could have it all
• what you did not plan nor expect, was falling in love with a handsome, older and charming man; the heart wants what the heart wants and in your case, your heart (and let's be honest, your body and soul too) wanted Joel Miller, but who wouldn't want him?
• he was big, broad, handsome, strong, he had great hair, beautiful puppy brown eyes and we were only talking about his physical features, although he was much more than that: he was also smart, hardworking, responsible, he was a great dad and even if he seemed a little shy or like he kept to himself, he had so much love to give, and much to your luck, he wanted you as much as you wanted him
• so you simply clicked, despite Joel being older than you; it wasn't a deal breaker for you, it never was, because if by any means that became a problem, you wouldn't even start dating to begin with; although there were some generational conflicts that was quite amusing to see: Joel referred to TV shows, some movies or ads you'd never even heard of in your life, while he didn't get why you always thought those stupid silly videos on your phone were so funny. He didn't really get Taylor Swift - or he pretended he didn't - and you would absolutely fall asleep midway pretty much every movie he claimed he'd watched at the movies when he was a teen and it simply kicked ass
• bur nothing that came even close to being a problem. Sarah enjoyed that exchange, she knew her dad was a modern man, she also knew he looked good by the amount of women who would shamelessly swoon around him, but she always worried he would simply lock himself inside once she took off to live her own adventures, so she appreciated how much you loved and cared about him, making her happy to see how much her dad really loved and cared about you too
• you both had a great relationship, it was mature, sexy, full of understanding, passion and partnership, but Joel being an experienced man, knew it was important to put all the cards on the table before you two were in too deep to decide what was a deal breaker or not
• so you both talked openly about your plans and ambitions for the future, your no's and things like this, to decide beforehand if it was worthy
• you were on board with almost everything, with the exception of Joel being honest and clear about the fact he was older, he had already gone through the fatherhood experience - which had been quite traumatic even if Sarah was the thing he loved the most in his life - and that he didn't want to go through it again, which meant kids were definitely off the table
• you felt your heart shattering; you've always wanted to have kids, and not only that, you could see Joel being a perfect dad to your kids, because not only was he already an amazing father, but he had all the great qualities of a partner, and perhaps a future husband, and to make things worse, Joel did want all of those things with you, he wanted to spend the rest of his life by your side, to give you his name and a home, but not kids
• and even if he knew you wanted kids and you knew it too, you decided to suppress this side of you, because you loved him so much, you thought it was worth sacrificing your desire to have Joel in your life; maybe life would be easier and better if you just stayed with each other, you'd be happy, no doubt about it, and just hoped you wouldn't feel incomplete at everything else
• Joel wasn't insensitive though, he knew that decision took a toll on you, it was complicated and it pained him to think he was the reason why you still hadn't made your wish come true, but how could he get into something he didn't want to? If roles were reversed, it would be too unfair to ask you to have his child, so he tried telling himself he wasn't holding you back
• however, what was so hard was that in addition to knowing about your wish to be a mom, he could see how good you'd certainly be at it; the way little kids and babies immediately took a liking to you, often wanting to play and cuddle and the way you were always so caring and attentive towards them, it always brought a pang into his chest, it hurt to see you not having it because of him
• as much as he loved you and cherished your presence and relationship, that guilt started eating him up alive; he was getting more and more upset about it, the way you simply didn't complain or insist on it also made him upset and worried, he didn't know what to do, he got to the point where he felt tortured to see you interacting with little kids, because he could tell how much you wanted that reality for yourself but he was stopping you from it
• when you both were invited to one of his cousin's baby's first birthday, you immediately accepted the invitation. Joel thought about declining it, but then, what could he say? he had no excuses of any sorts to simply say no, so there was no way other than going and that was it
• he was sort of enjoying the party, having a beer with his relatives and having some treats when he spotted you around the kids: you were having so much fun, simply the life of the party, as the kids giggled and cheered around you, all happily and excitedly, and you wouldn't leave them at all
• Joel's heart shattered, he couldn't keep on doing that to you, it was too much, he loved you and if you love someone you gotta do your best to make them happy, and in that situation he was aware he wasn't doing everything at his power for that, so he swallowed hard, as he took a decision, it was a hard one, but it had to be done
• so once the party was over, you noticed Joel's sadden expression, even if you asked him what was going on, he didn't say it, he just shook it off and said it was work problems, not wanting to extend the subject, you just shrugged and didn't say anything else, leaving the tension home, sensing things weren't going to be easy
• so a couple of days after the party in which things weren't great, Joel finally took the courage to come forward and talk to you about things
"I love you, darling. I swear I do, with all my heart, but I know I'm not making you totally happy, not as happy as you can fully be. I can't stay here, preventing you from finding someone you will really be happy with, someone you will be able to build a life with. You deserve it, baby. I can't give it to you, but I can't see you suffering any longer"
• it broke your heart, you didn't want to break things up with Joel, you loved him, but you were honored to see how much he cared for you, it wasn't easy to recover and get things back on track, having to remodel your life after breaking up with Joel, getting used to being without him, but time heals all, you learned after a while
• Joel also had to relearn how to live his life without you; it was complicated but he loved you so, so he trusted his gut in letting you go, especially a couple of years later, when Sarah came over to visit him with her new boyfriend and handed him her phone: she'd found your Instagram and it showed you happily married to some guy named Marcus Pike, apparently he was an FBI agent, gentle and good-looking and extremely excited to announce he was going to be a dad for the first time ❤️

It occurs to you just then, the true depth of your helplessness: you've been taken to another universe, alone with no way home, you're stuck prisoner, your phone has no signal...and they don't even know what Wi-Fi is. Yeah. You're screwed.
DEMO (3/04/2023) ♔ FORUM POST ♔ ARTBREEDERS
♔ The Decoy is a dark fantasy that follows you, a 21st century normal human, kidnapped to an alternate magical universe to play the part of the missing heir to a powerful throne...who also happens to be your doppelgänger. ♔
Life, for the most part, has been all-around uneventful. You work in Manhattan at a convenience store under a sleazy boss in order to scrape by and support your struggling family. Your dad is absent, your mom is too tired to parent, one brother is getting arrested while the other has detached himself from the life he once had. Still, while your days as a twenty-something employee are mundane, at least they're predictable.
Meanwhile, in another realm, the magical dark world of Eterna is in ruin. A war against an entity and his bloodthirsty creatures is brewing, and after the powerful royal family is viciously murdered and the only living child--and now rightful owner of the throne--goes missing, that evil is one step closer to winning.
But of course, that's not your problem. That's in a whole other universe, one you don't even know exists. Your biggest worry is whether you'll be able to take on a double shift tomorrow. Right?
Wrong.
Turns out the missing heir is your doppelganger. In a desperate attempt to save face and stop from losing a war before it even starts, you're kidnapped and taken to Eterna in order to play the part of the monarch, all while working behind the (bloody) scenes to find the true heir and get home.
Stuck in a world of magic and fantasy you've only ever seen in movies, an entire country--and an impending war-- is now dependent on how well you can act.
No pressure.
The Decoy is rated 18+ for dark themes, violence, and explicit content.
FEATURES
Customize your MC from gender identity, pronouns, personality, and appearance.
Choose whether to adapt to this new world or reject it, whether to be defiant or not. Pick what kind of monarch you'll lead as and take full advantage of your new royal identity.
Build yourself up in this new world, focus on honing combat or knowledge of the realm, choose a preferred choice of weapon and more.
Romance one of eight ROs (two male, two female, one nonbinary, three gender selectable) with a variety of backgrounds and magical types. Some more dangerous than others.
Maybe teach your new makeshift gang what television is? Hopefully find some signal for your phone? (not going to happen).
CHARACTERS + ROs
SERIDA/SOREN/SAHAR CRETILLON (m/f/nb , identity dependent on player choice ): the successor to the throne and only living person left in the Cretillon line, S has gone missing not long after the slaughter that murdered their entire family. People have been waiting for them to be coronated in order to plan their next move, but they're now gone without a trace and without them and the power that binds them together, Eterna is vulnerable. That's where you come in.
AZRIEL DAMARIS [RO] (m, he/him): once S's primary royal guard, Azriel has been promoted as the general of the Eternan army and head of the operation to save S. Stiff, serious, and severe, Azriel is tasked with being guard and guiding you through the world of politics and royalty. Unfortunately, Azriel doesn't want you here and he doesn't do much to hide it.
NAMARA AL-LUVEN: [RO] (f, she/her) Azriel's second, Namara is a fierce warrior and loyal to the cause. She's quite difficult to read, distant considering who you are.
DRENWIN SILVA: [RO](m, he/him): a skilled Mage and jester, Drenwin works alongside the Eternan army and puts his skills to work. He seems to be the most approachable of the bunch, which isn't saying much.
VALE: [RO](nb, they/them) the boisterous, flirtatious and arrogant mercenary turned pirate captain of The Lady Mystica. Vale exists simply to make and spend as much coin as possible while engaging in their harem and abundance of bad habits.
CERIS BESILLE [RO] (selectable, she/her, he/him, they/them): a priest-in-training, Ceris is fiercely devoted to their beliefs. Reserved and easily scandalized, they haven't left their quarters in the church since they were twelve, contributing to their lack of outside experience and rather insular outlook on the world.
TALEEA FAREWYN [RO] - (she/her) A half-fae Healer, Taleea follows alongside you as your right hand. She seems to be the only one empathetic to your circumstances, but it's hard to trust anyone in this world, especially someone who is so keen on being...nice.
ARWEN/ARYA VALARIN: [RO] (selectable, she/her, he/him): A Valarin is S's childhood friend and their arranged betrothed. A has been S's other half since they were kids, which means you need to be extra careful around them. They have no idea you're not S and judging from your orders, it's better they never find out.
????? [RO?] (gender selectable) -- They are actively hunting you.

<- previous chapter
You’ve always dreamed about a pretty family of your own, a pregnancy shared with your loved one, both of you discovering this new world together, sharing the fears and the excitement. things about
But since you told Walker about your real pregnancy, you thought it would be a grey and sad nine months. Not even in your best dreams this pregnancy would be full of joy and happiness, and then, since you told Mason about you felt warm and bright again.
Mason had to go back to London the same day due to his hectic routine, but he assured he would do his best to visit you often, besides making you promise you would reach out to his mom if you ever needed anything and for some reason your parents couldn’t help you.
After he left, you instantly called your favourite girl. Sarah showed up at your front door in five minutes, always so curious — but also so supportive.
You told her everything, from the moment you took the first test to when Mason left your house. She scolded you, saying you should’ve told her the moment you found out, but immediately giving you a hug.
Now she goes to your house almost everyday and Mason tries his best to call you every night. Then, she accompanied you to do your blood test that same week, where you found out you were already one month pregnant.
Your mom already bought the baby’s first body and you saw your dad looking for mini Portsmouth FC jerseys. They’re always asking you how you’ve been feeling, and even though she tried to be discreet you know your mom is paying more attention to you.
It’s good to know you have so many people to count on.
They were also all there when you went to your first ultrasound, when you were seven weeks pregnant. It was a horrific experience.
You knew the first one is different, what they call transvaginal ultrasound, but you weren’t exactly prepared for it. You're only twenty, after all. In that moment, you realised you’re actually still your dad’s baby.
Your doctor was rude and inappropriate. He kept asking where the father was, if you knew what a condom is and he wouldn’t even look at your face. Your dad took you out of the doctor’s office before you could lay down on the stretcher.
Two weeks later, you still haven’t taken the exam, and that’s why Mason has been on the phone with you for the past ten minutes, convincing you to do it.
“You need to take the exam, Y/N. It’s important to monitor the pregnancy from month one.” his voice sounded understanding but also severe.
“I know. It’s just… the first doctor was so rude with me and I already hate going to hospitals so now I’m just trying to postpone it as much as possible”
Mason sighed, having been told what happened by your dad.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there to break his jaw and make him swallow his own tongue, but I can come over to your next appointment” his words made you smile. You really like how protective Mason is, how his voice changes when he’s mad.
“You don’t need to. My dad will be at home-”
“So it’ll be me and your dad” he interrupted you. “I wanna go, see how it works”
“Fine” you chuckled. “I’ll make an appointment for mid-week then”
“Good” Mason hummed, his sleepy voice making you giggle. Suddenly, he changed the subject. “Are you still a Chelsea fan? I mean-”
You thought it was a weird question, but it didn’t take you long to figure out why he was asking you this.
“You play for Chelsea, don’t you?” you asked back.
After a few minutes in silence, Mason sighed.
“But he used to play for Chelsea too” he murmured, sounding insecure.
You felt like throwing up at the mention of Walker, and your heart ached with how sad Mason sounded at the idea of you now hating his club.
Taking a deep breath, you tried your best to fill your voice with reassurance. To make him feel safe.
“Which team do you play for, Mason?”
“Chelsea” he muttered, his voice barely audible.
“Then I’m a Chelsea fan” you reassured him. “You are my best friend. Whichever the club you chose to play for, I’ll be there in the stands for you”
“Good” he chuckled, relief overflowing through his voice. “That’s good, ‘cause I might have bought her something”
For a few seconds, you got confused about what he was saying since sleepy Mason didn't bother saying whatever is on his mind. Then you remembered that, besides you and him there’s only one person he could be talking about.
“Her?” you asked again, not thinking about your baby as a girl or a boy yet. You don’t even know what you want, since both options seem so incredibly great.
“It’s a girl” he said confidently. “I can feel it”
“How?”
“I don’t know, I just want her to be” he giggled, yawning. “I wanna be a girl’s dad”
Your heart skipped a beat. In the time you took to answer, Mason was already knocked out.
“Something weird happened” you started to tell Sarah, but suddenly you wanted to keep Mason’s words to yourself.
“What?” she looked at you. She was at your house, as always since you got pregnant, when your father told you he was ready, so Sarah decided to come with you to your appointment.
“Uhm- nothing” you tried to change her attention. “Mason is coming today”
“Of course he is” she smirked. “Daddy duties, right?”
You rolled your eyes, but your heart pounded with her words.
“Stop! Don’t you dare say something like this in front of him” you pointed a finger to her face.
It was Sarah’s turn to roll her eyes.
“Fine, we can’t let Mase know you have a crush on him since you’re twelve” she teased you. “At least I’ll get to be your baby’s favourite aunt since they won’t call him uncle if he’s mommy’s boyfriend”
“Oh shut up, Sarah” you slapped the back of her head. “Mason is my best friend, just like you”
“That’s why you told me first instead of calling someone who lives in another city?”
“Shut up” you felt your cheeks warm, and she laughed at you.
“Oh, look who’s here! We were talking about you, Mase!” Sarah got up and you froze.
Mason kissed her cheek before hugging you tight.
“What about me could be that interesting for you two to talk about?” he raised an eyebrow at you, and you looked at Sarah with widened eyes.
“Your new haircut” she lied and Mason looked at her, confused.
“But I haven’t-”
“Y/N?” the doctor called, and you thanked the universe before following her.
When Mason was about to follow you, Sarah held his arm.
“You’ll enter the doctor’s office with her?”
“Can’t I?”
“You know… that it’s like… they’ll check the baby through where the baby comes out” she tried to explain, miming.
“Oh, that’s it? I’ll- I’ll just ask her if she wants me to stay here”
“So you still wanna go inside, uh?” Sarah teased him. Teasing is her specialty.
“Stop, it’s not like that. I told her I’d be here to protect her, after what happened with the last one” Mason explained, but he couldn’t hide his red cheeks.
“Cute. But ‘it’s not like that’ doesn’t work with me, Mase. I know you booth” Sarah hummed.
When you put your head out of the doctor's office to call them Sarah quickly entered, leaving Mason standing in front of the door.
“Do you want me to stay outside?” he awkwardly asked you.
“Why would I?”
“Sarah told me that the exam is pretty intimate”
“It’s ok. You can close your eyes” you shrugged, taking him by hand. “C’mon, you’re here to be my bodyguard”
Mason giggled, but followed you inside. Knowing your best friend would be there with you, your dad decided to come back to work after dropping you and Sarah, since he would lose the day, so it was only the three of you.
You honestly think it’s really funny how he loves and respects Mason to the point he would let him witness his own grandson’s first ultrasound, saying “I’ll stay for the next one” before leaving. It sounds a bit crazy when you think about it.
When your doctor, a woman in her thirties, explained the whole procedure to you, you changed into a hospital gown and laid on the stretcher. Sarah was sitting next to you, in the chair they usually leave there for the father, and Mason stayed on the other side of the stretcher, with his eyes closed since you came back from the bathroom.
Your doctor prepared the equipment, warning you she was about to start the exam. You felt the initial discomfort and squeezed Sarah’s hand instantly looking for Mason’s, receiving a gentle squeeze back. From his angle he couldn’t actually see you exposed, but he was being so cute with his eyes closed so you left it like that.
While you listened to new information about your baby, you felt your heart grow fonder. For a moment, you also felt guilty that your parents weren’t the first ones to experience this moment with you, but your mother couldn’t due to work and you’re pretty sure your father isn’t ready to realise his daughter is a grown woman now.
When Sarah whispered ‘are you okay?’ after noticing your tears, you knew that for some reason they were the right ones to be with you in this exact moment.
“Yeah, I’m just happy” you smiled at her. “Mase, look at the screen”
“I can’t. My eyes are closed” he murmured seriously, making you giggle.
“You can open them, don’t worry” Sarah reassured him, laying her head beside yours.
Mason opened his eyes reluctantly and they widened when he found the monitor.
“Is that her?” he giggled before pouting. “Oh, so tiny. Y/N, you’re baking the tiniest pie in the world”
“Silly” you muttered, your cheeks hurting for how wide you were smiling. Mason searched for your eyes, his cheeks turning red when he saw you were already looking at him. You could see how emotional the moment was for him, nodding so he would know you appreciated his presence.
When the doctor talked to you again and everybody’s attention was on her, Mason whipped his eyes.
“You should come visit me” Mason rubbed your belly, drawing gentle circles. “I mean… you could stay with me and our families could come to Christmas and then to New Year’s”
The pair of you were laid on your bed with Sarah whilst your mother was downstairs, preparing dinner. Everything was perfect with your new doctor, and now you are excited for your next appointments, to see your belly growing.
“Why would you want that?” you teased, knowing he just misses being around his closest friends.
“I feel like I’m missing your belly bump” he pouted, just like a kid. “You’re almost four months pregnant and I only saw you like… five times since you told me”
“Yeah, Sarah is already claiming she’ll be the baby’s favourite” you giggled, leaving the rest of your friend's words out. Sarah shrugged and Mason poked his tongue out, like a child. “You know there’s still five more months, right? But I would love to, Mase”
“Good, ‘cause I might need a little help to put up my Christmas tree” he laughed, and you felt his chest vibrating. “And I have a lot of presents for her”
“You’re so confident that it’s a girl”
“I know it is” he shrugged.
“Thank you for the invitation, Mason” Sarah messed up with him, taking his hand off of you so she could caress your belly too.
“Don’t be dramatic. I said ‘our families can join us for Christmas’, so you’re included” he rolled his eyes, hitting her hand.
“But you’re inviting Y/N to spend weeks at yours” she playfully pouted, taking his hand off again. Mason huffed in annoyance.
“You see her everyday, don’t be selfish”
“Fine. You wanna be alone with her, got it. She’s all yours”
Mason shrugged and hummed in content when Sarah finally let his hand where it was. You stayed silent, without knowing how to read his action. Two minutes later, your mom called you all for dinner.
Mason picked you up two weeks before Christmas, to spend some time in London before the holidays, and you think you could never thank him enough for that. You were four months pregnant now, the crazy hormones and morning sickness getting the best of you, and even though you love your mom, she was slightly suffocating you over the past weeks.
You need fresh air and distractions, things London can give you.
You slept during the whole drive, knocked out by a medicine for your sickness. Mason drove in silence, humming a few songs and checking on you every so often.
Since you were still sleeping when he parked in front of his house, he took your things inside and settled them in the guest room before coming back to gently wake you.
After the initial confusion, you held his hand and Mason helped you get out of the car, slowly guiding you to the front door.
“You had a good nap?” he teased you, opening the front door for you and giggling when your cheeks turned red.
“Sorry for leaving you on your own”
“Watching you sleep is quite peaceful, don’t worry” he poked your cheek, closing the door behind you. “Welcome to my place”
You looked around. It’s a cosy place, even though from the outside you could already tell that Mason’s house is huge. He recently moved and this is the first time you’re visiting this one, so you were surprised with how different it is from the other one.
But, at the same time, something felt weird. Your eyes were immediately burning with tears when you pictured him alone in his living room, wandering around the house, cooking by himself.
“It’s so big” you pouted, turning to face him. “And you live here alone. You sleep alone and eat alone and when you finish training you come back to an empty house”
Mason was smiling when you turned to him, frowning in confusion when he saw you started to cry.
“It’s the life I chose, baby. Don’t need to cry, it’s not that bad. My family is always visiting and I have teammates coming over every week. And you’re here now. You can stay as long as you want” he stroked your cheeks. “Sarah can stay after the holidays, you can enjoy the capital together”
You were still pouting, fat and hot tears spilling down your face. It felt weird to cry for something you would usually not feel so affected by.
Not even your emotions were yours anymore?
“I think I need a cuddle” you whimpered. Mason giggled, the most beautiful sound you’ve ever heard, before letting your stuff near the door and guide you to his living room. “Don’t laugh”
“Sorry” he laughed again, sitting on his couch and pulling you closer. “You’re just too cute”
You sat beside him, resting your face on his shoulder and sighing when he wrapped his arms around yours.
“Being pregnant sucks sometimes” you vented. “I keep crying and feeling sick and crying more”
“I’m sorry pookie. I don’t think there’s anything I can do to help you, but I’ll always be here to cuddle you, yeah?” he kissed your forehead.
You hugged him tighter, chuckling when he laid on the sofa bringing you with him. After a few minutes like this, you tickled his waist.
“So, where’s your Christmas tree?”
“About that…” Mason chuckled, burying his nose in your hair.
Four hours later, you were finally at his house again after a whole afternoon looking for the perfect tree.
Mason wanted to choose the first he saw, but you decided to do things properly. His family would come and you wanted them to be proud of their boy, living alone and with a decent tree.
And then you needed to buy Christmas lights and ornaments.
“What do you mean, they don’t come with the tree?” Mason confusedly looked at you when you asked him to drive to the store, the proof he is the biggest mama’s boy in the world.
Deciding on the colour turned out to be a torturously slow process. Mason wanted a blue Christmas because of Chelsea, but at the same time he liked the red ornaments, and you just stayed there waiting for his decision and telling him to make a full white tree.
An hour later, he chose the white ones.
Now, you're back at home and after receiving the tree you have all you need to start decorating, but Mason has other plans.
“Leave it there” he told you when you started opening the ornaments boxes. “We’ve been out for hours, you need to eat first”
“But-”
“No, you’re in my house, I make the rules” he smirked, stretching his body. “What about you take a shower for me and I make us dinner”
“I’m not actually hungry” you pouted at him, but Mason still sent you upstairs to take a relaxing shower.
He has settled your stuff in the guest room closest to his own room, in case you would need anything during the night.
After a warm shower, you came back downstairs and found him still in the kitchen, moving his hips to All I Want For Christmas Is You. Recording a short video of him before being noticed, you got closer to see what he was preparing.
Just when you looked over his shoulder, your stomach growled, and Mason chuckled.
“Not really hungry, uh?” he teased you,
“It smells good” you shrugged.
“I’m a chef, Y/N”
“I still remember the day you burnt our popcorn, Mase” you giggled, walking to his dining room.
“Shhh, this is in the past” he put your plate on the table. “Now I’m a pro at cooking”
“Good, I don’t want my baby starving when you’re taking care of her”
“I’ll be the best for her, I swear” he smiled, poking your cheek.
Two weeks with Mason seemed like two days. Between training, a game away and a game at Stamford — which he made you attend to, the pair of you went to Christmas markets, some Christmas shopping and also visited a lot of baby’s stores.
He was obsessed.
Every tiny shirt, sweater, mini shoes. He wanted to buy them all. You told him he didn’t need to at least a million times, that you don’t even know the gender yet, but his answers was always “we can get the white one then” or “I’m sure it’s a girl”, so you came back to his place with a lot of
You also attended Chilly’s birthday reunion. He called all his football mates to waste their free meal with lots of pizza and beer.
You tried to eat with them, but in the end Mason spent a whole time holding your hair in Ben’s restroom. You apologised, not wanting him to lose the party with his friends, but he kept telling you were more important, and even though you were feeling ashamed, your heart pounded with how much you love having a friend like him.
The night before Christmas Eve you went to bed earlier, your stomach feeling weird all day. You were sleeping for about half an hour when a loud thunder woke you up in a second.
With your heart beating like crazy, you sat with widened eyes.
When another one crossed the sky, even louder, you felt your body start to tremble. Getting up from bed, you walked through the dark hall, tiptoeing to Mason’s room and slowly opening his door.
At first you thought of waking him up so you wouldn’t be alone, but his peaceful expression and his slight snore left you with no courage to do so.
His mouth was slightly open and his hair was in all directions, the blanket hugging his waist, leaving you with the sight of his bare chest.
You didn’t have the heart to disturb him, so you started to walk out of the room when Mason stirred.
“Y/N? What’s wrong?” he stretched his body, his raspy and sleepy voice making you forget about the storm for a couple of seconds. When another lightning cut the silence, Mason sat. “Oh baby, c’mere”
He tapped the spot beside him, quickly checking if he wore his sleep shorts before going to bed last night.
“Being afraid of storms is so cliche” you groaned, climbing his bed. “Sorry, I didn’t want to wake you”
“Don’t be silly. It’s been raining for how long?” he lifted the sheet so you could get under it.
“Twenty minutes I think”
“You should’ve woken me earlier” he yawned. “We can put a movie to distract you”
You shook your head, not wanting to disturb his routine.
“You need to sleep”
Mason brushed your hair out of your face, rolling his eyes at you.
“I won’t let you alone to deal with one of your biggest fears”
“Being with you is enough to ease the fear” you smiled at him. “Do you think I can listen to your heartbeat?”
“Wow, this is so gay” he teased, opening his arms for you. “C’mere pookie, if you want a cuddle just say it”
“I want a cuddle” you giggled, getting closer to him and resting your face on his chest. “And you have a strong heart, it’ll block the storm’s noises”
“Good” he squeezed your body, brushing his lips against your forehead. “Feel free to wake me up if you need me”
“Mm-hmm” you hummed, kissing his chest.
Mason wasn’t able to stop his heart from beating insanely fast. None of you talked about how good and right it felt to wake up with your legs interlocked, Mason’s fingers running down your back whilst he hummed ‘good morning’.
“Good morning, Mase” you replied, stretching your body. You awkwardly tried to get off his body, and he tickled your waist to ease the tension.
“Merry Christmas Eve” Mason hummed, poking your cheek. Being awake for the last twenty minutes and watching you sleep on his chest, he wasn’t ready to let the moment go yet.
“Merry Christmas Eve, Mase. I love you”
“I love you too” he grinned. “You were able to sleep?”
“Yeah, I barely heard any thunder or lightning” because your heart is strong and your chest is warm and your body is huge, you wanted to add, but you didn’t.
“Good. I think we overslept” he giggled. “I mean, you overslept, but I couldn’t wake you up and then I was afraid to move so I came back to sleep and… it’s almost afternoon”
“Mase! You should’ve woken me up”
“Nah, it’s ok. Christmas ain’t going anywhere. And I was thinking” he hummed. “When the pie you’re baking is finally here we’ll have to do the elf thing”
You giggled, picturing Mason trying to record fake videos of an elf flying around the house.
“Correction: you’ll have to do the elf thing. I’ll just enjoy it” you smiled before getting up so you could start to get things ready for the Christmas dinner.
As every rich man, Mason has someone who cleans his house for him. You met the girl during the week, and thanks to her everything is clean for the holidays and you just needed to keep it like that.
After tidying up the kitchen while Mason organised his five guest rooms, you started to decorate his living room and he also tidied up the restroom. When everything was done, you and Mason setted the table and decorated the dining room.
Giggling, Mason attached a mistletoe to one of the two dining room entrances.
“My dad asked me to do it, so he can surprise my mom” he explained, smiling shyly at you.
“Mase! This is so cute” you squeezed his shoulders from behind. “You’re such a good son. I bet one you’ll be the best of fathers”
Mason only shrugged, trying to hide how happy your words made him.
For a second, you imagined how different things would be if Mason was your boyfriend instead of Walker. If he was the one sharing this pregnancy with you.
Then you shook your head and went upstairs, so you could get ready for dinners
Yours, his and Sarah’s families went to Mason’s house for Christmas Eve dinner. Since he’s playing on Boxing Day, you all thought about something different so he could rest during the actual Christmas Day.
So, when you finished decorating and cleaning, you and Mason started to get ready, and it wasn’t long until they were all there.
Mason knocked to let you know everyone had arrived, but you weren’t feeling confident on your skin. You asked him to call Sarah, but you should’ve known that his protectiveness would get the best of im, and in a second Mason was inside your room, asking you what was wrong.
“I don’t feel like myself” you pouted, trying not to cry or your make up would be ruined. “I know it’s been growing gradually and I should be getting used to it, but wearing a dress kind of made it more real? It’s me, but it’s not and I feel weird”
Mason walked closer, standing behind you and looking in your eyes through the mirror.
“You are… stunning, Y/N” he smiled at you, and you suddenly felt shy. “And the bump is adorable, pookie. Don’t be shy about it. It’s part of your body now, yeah? And it’s so beautiful”
You broke eye contact, his shining eyes overwhelming you, but the way he looked at you made you feel warm. Truly loved by your best friend, the person who saw your good days and the bad ones too.
“Thank you, Mase” you turned to face him, offering him a big smile.
“C’mere” he opened his arms, and you immediately hugged him. “It’s your first Christmas as a mum, let’s get the best of it. I know what you’re thinking but he doesn’t deserve to be the reason why you’re doubting yourself, because you shouldn't doubt yourself in the first place. Just because he chose the opposite doesn’t mean anyone wouldn’t chose you”
Your heart pounded at his words and how well he knows you.
“I love you” you muttered, and Mason kissed your forehead.
“I love you more. C’mon, I’m starving” he giggled.
In the end, it turned out to be one of the best nights you had in a while. Every person had brought a dish, and they all put their presents underneath Mason’s tree. It was a night full of jokes, laughter, love and good food.
Your mom tried to help you with what to eat, and you made it through the dinner without problems.
But even though you were happy and surrounded by people you love, you couldn’t stop yourself from thinking how your Christmas would’ve been if Walker were still with you. Then, hearing your family and friends laughing and sharing histories made you feel guilty about thinking of someone who doesn’t want to be there, nor deserve it.
The night ended early, only a few minutes past midnight, and Summer, the only one who didn’t know about your pregnancy yet, was in bed since 10pm. Everybody wished their goodnights, promising to wake up early so they could all open the presents together.
After helping everyone to find their bedroom, Mason found you in the dining room when you were coming back from the kitchen, already wearing your fluffy pyjamas.
“Are you ok?” he raised an eyebrow at you, worried.
You smiled, finding his puppy and drunk eyes adorable.
“I’m alright Mase. What about you? I can put you in bed if you need to”
“Haha, funny. Even though I would love to, I’m just a bit tipsy” he poked your sides, making you chuckle. “Thank you pookie, it was an incredible night and I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to do it by myself”
“It was a really nice night, I’m happy you enjoyed” you smiled, kissing his cheek and starting to walk out of the dining table. “But now… someone needs to sleep”
Mason nodded, but he seemed to remember something after a few seconds, asking you to wait. You stopped on your feet between the dining room and the hall, waiting for him.
He knelt in front of you, holding your waist so he could brush his nose on your belly.
“Merry Christmas, tiny pie” he gave it a quick peck. “Next one you’ll be running around”
At the same time you felt shy, you also felt glad. You know he’ll always be there for your baby.
When he got on his feet again, Mason kissed your forehead. He was about to wish you goodnight when something fell between the pair of you, and your heart skipped a beat when you realised it was the mistletoe he put there earlier.
“Sorry” Mason choked and gasped at the same time, and remembering he wasn’t exactly sober made it even funnier. “I forgot”
“No problem” you smiled at him, giggling when he hid it behind his back with red cheeks.
“We can pretend it didn’t happened” he whispered, and for a second you felt insecure, unsure that maybe he didn’t want to.
But then his cheeks became even redder and you wanted to do it.
“I mean… it was on top of us” you shrugged. “Can’t fool the universe”
“We don’t have to-”
“You play Arsenal next week” you interrupted him, and you could almost see his brain trying to work. “Can’t risk your luck”
“Yeah, I can’t risk my luck” he shyly giggled. You thought he was even cuter standing there with hazy eyes, playing with the hem of his shirt. “But I don’t want us to be awkward about it”
Then you leaned on his shoulders and stood on your toes so you could face him properly, and gently pecked his lips. Mason held your waist, his other hand cupping your chin before he brushed his lips against yours, giving you multiple little kisses.
You brushed his hair out of his forehead and kissed the tip of his nose.
“See? No friendships ruined” you smiled. Mason smiled too, finding it hard to speak, and you giggled knowing he needed to sleep. “Good night, Mase”
With a last peck you quickly ran upstairs, questioning if this was the gift Santa brought you this year.

Pretty Boy
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: Robin brings the boys to help move her cousin and you mistake Eddie for Steve at first.
Word Count: 1940
Eddie Masterlist
Tumblr media
You’re Robin’s cousin and that means that you just have the best damn cousin anyone could ask for. She’s not just your cousin but also your best friend, the two of you have always been two peas in a pod. When either of you were visiting the other you were basically attached at the hip and you’d call each other almost every night and be on the phone until one of your parents told you to get off. So when your dad got offered a job a few states away he was worried how you would take it because you’d be so much farther away from her than just a thirty minute drive.
When he did tell you about the job offer your main worry was college. You knew you and Robin would still talk everyday but you were already enrolled in your current school and working towards your degree. You told him you could see if you could move to the dorms last minute but since he also went there he knew you wouldn’t be able to. So after a phone call to your mom's brother you were moving in with Robin and you couldn’t be happier.
Robin brings the boys with her to pick you up because Eddie’s van would come in handy in a way Steve’s BMW wouldn’t. And she really wanted you to meet Steve and vice versa. She’s told you all about pretty boy Steve Harrington and how he’s her best friend who isn’t related to her along with everything they’ve been through together. She was hoping to possibly play matchmaker because she’s tired of Steve pining after Nancy and you haven’t had a relationship since your ex broke your heart.
“Oh thank god!” Robin exclaims as they finally pull up in front of your house. “You know you two suck for road trips. Remind me to never do this again.” Eddie and Steve had basically been arguing about music the whole second half of the trip. “I mean seriously you couldn’t not be annoying with each other for a full thirty minutes.” Robin rushes out of the van and up to your front door as soon as Eddie opens the back doors for her. She basically vibrates with excitement as she makes it up the walkway. Her uncle opens the door shortly after she knocks.
“Hey Robin, Robin’s friends. Y/n’s up in her room finishing up packing if you wanna head up.”
“Thanks Uncle Jay. C’mon boys hurry up!”
“Robin!” You squeal and tackle her into a hug as soon as she opens your door.
“Hey there cuz.” She laughs as she returns the hug completely. “Are you ready to move in with your favorite person ever?”
“I can’t believe I get to live with you. I’m so excited to be able to hang out everyday. I’ve been packed for the last few days. Like I literally packed up everything but my bed stuff and some clothes three days ago and even then I’ve been slowly packing up my blankets and pillows. I slept with just one pillow and one of the couch blankets last night. But now everything is packed away and I’m ready to go.”
“Wow, she’s even got the Buckley ramble.” Steve’s voice brings your attention away from your cousin and to the two men standing in your doorway.
“Hi! I’m Y/n.” You walk up and offer your hand to Eddie. “You must be Steve. It’s great to finally meet you, Robins told me so much about you!”
“Apparently not enough darlin’. I’m Eddie, one of Robin’s newer friends.” And your face heats up at the mistake while Steve silently scoffs over someone thinking Eddie was him.
“So then you’re Steve?” You tilt your head as you look him up and down taking him all in. “I guess I see it.”
“See what?”
“Well I mean Robins always referring to you as Steve ‘the hair’ Harrinton or pretty boy Steve. And I get it, you’re pretty and all but honestly I think Eddie might just be the prettiest boy I’ve ever seen. So he’s so much prettier than you, and he has a lot more hair so I just figured he was Steve.” At this Robin lets out the laugh she’s been holding in while Eddie’s face goes red and a smile appears on his face. He’ll never let Steve live this down.
“Sorry Steve, did I mention she doesn’t really have a filter?” She’ll have to throw out the idea of playing matchmaker with you and Steve now with how Eddie’s looking at you like you just lit up his whole world with that statement. But maybe she could play it with you two. “Alright grab some boxes and let's go dinguses.”
“So you’re the metal head then right?” You ask Eddie as the two of you make your way out of the house boxes stacked in your hands.
“Yeah, I guess that’d be me. Did Robin say anything about me?”
“Umm,” You start to try to think about what she would’ve told you about Eddie.
“It’s alright if she didn’t, we really haven’t been friends for that long.”
“No, no she did tell me some stuff. You’re in a band right? Oh what was it called? I remember telling her it was really cool.”
“Corroded coffin.” He answers while putting his boxes in the back of his van before taking the ones out of your arms.
“Yes! Robin told me she’d take me to a show the next time I was in town and you guys were playing. Let’s see what else did she say? That you play dungeons and dragons and the last time there were issues in the upside down you almost died because of the demobats right?”
“You know about the upside down?”
“Of course I do. Robin tells me everything.”
“And you believed her?”
“She’s never lied to me before.” You shrug nonchalantly before walking away from the van to get more stuff from your room and to get out of Robin and Steve’s way when you see them getting closer.
“So what kind of music do you listen to?” Eddie asks as he catches up to you.
“A little bit of everything I guess. My parents have very different music tastes so I grew up with a lot of different things so it’s just what I like now. Currently I listen to a lot of Metallica, Queen, and Dolly Parton.” Eddie groans as you say her name.
“Oh come on you were doing so good!” When you started with Metallica he thought you were a woman after his heart but ending with a country artist could’ve ruined it.
“Oh god don’t tell me you’re one of those metal heads.” You huff and roll your eyes picking up another box.
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean. One of those pretentious I only listen to metal or rock and anything else is disgusting. And if you listen to the stuff they listen to but also something different you’re automatically not a real fan.”
“I listen to other things! I just don’t think country music deserves all the hype it gets.” He’s quick to defend himself.
“Oh yeah? What else do you listen to? And have you ever listened to Dolly before?”
“Okay, don’t tell Steve because the fucker will tease me if he knew, but I listen to a lot of Abba. Like an unhealthy amount. And no, I just know the genre she is.”
“Well she’s the best.” You shrug before nudging him with your shoulder. “And Abba fucking rocks. I own every single one of their albums twice, once on vinyl and once as a cassette.”
“What could they be talking about this enthusiastically?” Steve asks Robin as the two of them come out of the house with the last of your boxes.
“Who knows.” She shrugs. “Could be music or movies or comics. Now that I think about it they have a lot of the same interests. Maybe I should’ve been hyping Eddie up instead of you.”
“You were hyping me up?”
“Tried to be your wingman, play matchmaker a bit maybe. That’s out the window though, look at them.” Eddie’s sitting in the back of his van, legs dangling off the edge as he leans back and watches you pace and talk with your hands about something Steve and Robin can’t hear from where they’re stopped. You both have smiles on your faces and the two friends can just tell by the look on Eddie’s face that he’s already smitten. “I haven’t seen Y/n take to a man like this in a while, she’s friendly sure but this is something different. And Eddie’s well, Eddie. I wouldn’t be able to take it if her falling for someone else broke his heart and I constantly had to look into those big broken puppy dog eyes all the time.”
“Well then let’s go play matchmaker Buckley.” Steve starts heading towards the van again with purpose.
“What are you planning Steve?”
“Just sit back and let the master work his magic.” Eddie hops up as Steve gets to the two of you so they can get the rest of the boxes in.
“Is that it Y/n?”
“Yeah that’s it Robs, I had packed up the rest into my car last night.”
“Hopefully there’s room for three people in your car because I can’t handle any more metal or Eddie yelling at me when I ask to listen to something else. And Robin’s obviously going with you.”
“What? You’re gonna drag me all the way out here to drive home alone? No offense darlin’.”
“None taken. Guys that’s sort of a dick move don’t you think? Eddie shouldn’t have to drive with all my shit by himself.”
“Sorry man but I’m all Eddied out.” Steve jabs Robin with his elbow to tell her to say something about it.
“Sorry Eds I’d go with you but the weed smell is really bothering me.”
“It’s not even that strong.”
“Robin’s always had a sensitivity when it came to scents.”
“Y/n why don’t you go with Eddie? I can drive your car that way Robin and I get a break from the van and Eddie doesn’t drive alone.” Steves normally an idiot but Robin has to admit this is kind of genius.
“I’m fine with that. Eddie, you good if I go with you?”
“I’m fine with that.”
“Okay cool. Let me go say bye and grab my keys and we can go.” You head inside and spend a solid twenty minutes saying goodbye to your parents and promising to come visit before they leave in a week and then to call them as much as possible after that. On your way out you yell a bye one more time while grabbing your keys from the holder and excitedly hurry to the trio waiting at the van. You toss your keys Steve’s way before climbing into the passenger seat. “Hurry up pretty boy I wanna get unpacked!” You yell out the window causing Eddie to blush and smirk Steve’s way as he passes him.
“You hear that Steve, I'm the pretty boy now.”
“God I’m starting to regret this already.” Steve says as he and Robin climb into your car. “He’s so damn smug.” Robin laughs at him while watching Eddie get into the driver's seat before looking over to find you shoving a tape into his stereo.
“If it helps Steve I think he’s starting to too. How much do you wanna bet he comes out of this drive liking Dolly Parton?”

Little Hen
Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Wife!Reader
A/N: I'm obsessed...there's nothing left to say. I don't own any of these wonderful characters except (y/n). Enjoy!
Summary: Rooster takes his little hen to The Hard Deck to make memories like he did with his father
Warnings: tooth-rotting fluff, like your teeth are gone...
(y/n) - your name
(y/n/n) - your nickname
(y/h/c) - your hair color
Tumblr media
(Y/n) sighed through the phone, stuck at work for another hour. "Bradley, are you sure it's a good idea to take her there? It is a bar after all."
"Yes, babe. Some of my favorite memories with my father were made at a bar."
She knew this meant a lot to him, especially how he lost his own father not long after those memories were made. He'd told her about his fear that he'd be killed before their daughter, Carole, even remembered him. She was now 4 and was just like he was as a kid.
She was adventurous, competitive, and most of all, a complete daddy's girl. The 4-year-old had Rooster Bradshaw wrapped around her tiny little finger. If she wanted a stuffed animal, he got it, and when she asked for a Hawaiian shirt to match him, (y/n) could've sworn she'd never seen him order something so fast.
Bradley had also formed the habit of calling Carole, "Little Hen" after her mom, whose callsign was Hen.
"Okay little hen," Rooster said getting her out of her car seat, "do you want to meet some of daddy's friends?"
She threw her little arms around his neck as he held her. "What about mommy? She's your friend."
He chuckled, swinging her around in a circle. "Mommy is my best friend, but I have other friends too."
"Whoa, Daddy. I'm dizzy." She announced, leaning far back away from him.
"Don't worry, hen, Daddy's got ya." With a content sigh and a bright smile, he kissed her cheek and opened the doors of The Hard Deck.
The room erupted into cheers when the pair walked in the doors. Jake, AKA Hangman, was the first to come over to the pair.
"Hangie!" She yelled, leaning towards him, her little arms extended.
Rooster handed her to Jake with a smile. "Hey, kid! Have you been listening to your mom and dad?"
She shook her head, glancing over at her dad, who was just watching the interaction. "Nope."
Jake burst into laughter, tickling her as she joined in with her own giggles. Rooster's heart was about to explode with love at the sight of his beautiful daughter. The only person missing from this moment was (y/n). She got caught up at work and couldn't join them for the movie night they had planned, so they decided to have a Rooster and Little hen night. He's brought out of his thoughts by Carole calling him.
"Daddy! Jake wants you to play!" she said, full of excitement.
With a sigh, he took off his aviators and gently placed them on her face as he walked towards the piano. The glasses were way too big on her, so they were slanted to one side, and they looked so cute. Bradley took her from Hangman and placed her on top of the piano. He stretched his hands slightly before playing.
"You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain." he sang, looking goofily at Carole. "Too much love drives a man insane. You broke my will, oh what a thrill."
Carole somewhat knew this part, so she sang along with everyone else.
"Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!"
Her laughter echoed across the bar, lifting everyone's spirits even more than her dad's playing did.
"I laughed at love cause I thought it was funny, you came along and you moved me, honey. I changed my mind, looking fine."
"Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!"
Little did Rooster or his Little Hen know that (y/n) was leaning against the doorway, listening with tears in her eyes. They were the two most important people to her, and hearing them both so happy made her happy.
In the middle of the piano solo, she pushed off the wall and made her way over to the piano.
"Kiss me, baby." He sang
She came from behind him and planted a kiss right on his unsuspecting lips. Eyes widening in surprise, he turned and smiled when he saw who it was, continuing to sing.
"Woooo-ooooo...that feels good." He pulled her onto his lap haphazardly, making Carole laugh. "Hold me, baby."
By this point, he had completely turned away from the piano and towards his wife, muscle memory kicking in as he kissed her. "I wanna love you like a lover should. You're fine, so kind. Imma tell the world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine-ine!"
With her mom's help, Carole jumped down off the piano and took a seat on Bradley's leg that (y/n) was not occupying. Smiling down at her, he continued to play.
"I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs. I get nervous but it sure is fun." He turned to (y/n), singing against her lips, Come on, baby, you're driving me crazy," then turned to Carole for the grand finale.
"Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!!" The group yelled in unison.
Bradley leaned down and dramatically kissed her on the cheek before kissing (y/n) lovingly. Carole jumped off his lap and ran in front of them.
"Daddy! That was awesome! Can we do it again?"
As Bradley sat with his wife in his arms and her head on his shoulder, watching their daughter have a moment of her own, he couldn't help but think of his dad. All his life, he just wanted to be like him, and his life looked very similar to how his did at Rooster's age. Knowing from experience that everything can change in a split second, he vows to take in every moment he has with his family.
Tumblr media
Saying goodbye to their friends, Rooster looks over, noticing that his Little Hen is finally asleep in (y/n)'s arms. He looked over to Jake, smiling.
"Thanks for wearing her out, man. It sure saves Hen and me the trouble of finding a way to get her down."
"I'm just doing my wingman duties, sir." He mock salutes, giving Bradley a hug.
(Y/n) waves bye to everyone, careful not to wake up Carole, and walks out to Rooster's car. He's not too far behind them. Approaching the car, he hugs (y/n) from behind, nuzzling his head into her neck once their Little Hen is in her car seat.
"I love you," he murmured into her neck.
She placed her hands on his that rested on her waist. "I love you too, Roost, but where is this coming from?"
"You're such an amazing mom, (y/n/n)."
"And you're an even better dad. Your dad would be so proud of you, Bradley."
Turning around in his arms, she engulfed him in a hug that he gratefully returned as a tear slipped down his cheek. When they pulled away, (y/n) wiped the tear away, giving him a sloppy kiss. She leaned into the car and kissed Carole on the forehead.
"I'll see you at home, Rooster," she yelled, walking to her car.
Leaning out his truck's window, he saluted her. "Roger that, Lieutenant Hen. I love you."
"Love ya, Cap."
Bradley rolled up the window and looked back at his daughter sleeping peacefully. "Daddy loves you, Little Hen."

Until Then
Pairing: Florence Pugh X Fem! Reader.
Summary: Attending Toby’s concert in Oxford you also go the chance to meet Florence.
Word count: 2.1K
Warnings: mentions of a hangover.
Type: Fluff
Author Comments: This is a request from my old blog!
Tumblr media
Excited was an understatement when your boss approved a couple of days off for the concert you had already brought tickets too, enough if he said no, you would’ve called in sick anyways. You’d been a fan of Toby Sebastian’s ever since Florence would post some of his music on her Instagram story. You were also clearly a huge fan of Florence Pugh’s acting. The concert was on a Thursday night, so you’d requested to have Thursday, Friday, and Saturday off from work to really enjoy your time. Wednesday night you packed your things and got ready for the train ride to Oxford early Thursday morning.
You’d heard around on social media that Toby & Florence’s dad owned a café in Oxford and you wanted to check it out once your train arrived you checked into the hotel that was a few blocks away from the club Toby was playing at then you made your way to Café Coco for some brunch. The café was slightly packed with younger people, some were taking photos of the wall which confused you slightly until you were able to see that Florence had written a message and signed it. “Table for 1?” the waiter greeted you as you took in the beauty of the café. “Yes please” you smiled as he then directed you to a table outside in the sun, he gave you a menu and told you the specials for the day before telling you he’d be back in a moment to take your order.
You ordered a Full English Breakfast and a hot chocolate. “We’ll get that out to you as shortly” the waiter smile as he took the menu back and wrote down your order on the little notepad. “Thank you, are you guys usually this busy?” you asked. “Yes and no, the owner’s son is playing the club down the road so that would explain the younger people taking photos of the wall inside” he gave a soft laugh before walking away. You flicked through social media as you waited for your order, you saw that Raffie had posted on her story that she as going to the show tonight, you weren’t surprised as it is her older brother. Toby had also posted about getting ready for tonight’s show which made you even more excited. Your attention was taken away from your phone when you heard a group of young adult’s squeal with excitement.
Looking up from your phone you saw a familiar face throw a soft smile at you when your eyes met. Your heart sunk as your mind froze. Florence was here, surrounded but a small group of young adults asking for photos and autographs. You gave her a soft smile back before her attention turned to the calling of her name. Were you dreaming or was this real? You thought to yourself before the waiter placed the plate of food in front of you. “Starstruck are we?” the waiter smiled as he noticed you had looked like you’d just seen a ghost. You blushed with a smile before looking up to the waiter, “I- n-…yeah” you finally admitted. The younger male chuckled, “you should go say hi, Flo super cool, we love her!” he placed your cutlery on the table and walked away.  As much as you’d love to get up and say hi, you didn’t want to bother her and seeing as she already had a fair few people wanting her attention you decided to take that little smile, she sent your way as a blessing and dug into your brunch.
You’d been enjoying your night as Toby performed all your favourite songs, you sang along and sueded to the music, you were a in the 3rd row from the stage, you made sure to take plenty of photos and videos for your memories. As Toby was performing you couldn’t help but people in front of you whispering and pointing to your right. You turned your attention as you saw Florence feeling the vibes of the show, singing and dancing. Her attention was purely watching her brother doing what he loves, she had you in an awe moment.
Before the show ended, Toby had Raffie and Florence join him on stage to sing with him. The crowd loved it as much as you did. Midnight was such a vibey song for you, a song you’d listened too most mornings while getting ready for the day or whenever you were in the bath having a relaxing evening. You made sure to film that whole performance so you could always go back and watch one of your newly found memories.
After the show you decided to end to the afterparty, now with the hopes to say hi to Florence. Your nerves were strong as you saw her standing around some fans, taking photos, laughing with them, and hugging them. You knew if you had come with friends, you wouldn’t be this nervous just to say hello but being by yourself the room looked way to packed for you to process. You ordered a drink from the bar and found a spot to sit while you talked yourself up to go meet Flo.
“Hey there!” you heard a thick British accent break you from your thoughts. Looking up to see Florence smiling at you, her eyes sparkled with the dimed lights, “Hello” you smiled back at her. “I just wanted to pop over and say how much I love your outfit!” she complemented. “Really? Wow, thank you!” you replied completed stoked that she even noticed you with people surrounding her. “Did you enjoy the show?” she asked, slowly taking the seat across from you. “I did, thank you! Toby is amazing and so were you and Raffie! I’m so glad I came! Although I am sad it’s over” you chuckled a little at the end. “Over? It’s just starting!” Florence winked jokingly, “were you at coco this afternoon?” she questioned. “Coco?”, “the Café” she replied as you came to the realisation of what she was talking about. “Oh yes! I was” you laughed slightly, “it’s a lovely café” you added before smiling at her again. “It really is! I take it your from out of town?”, “I am! I’m just here until Saturday” you replied while looking at the necklace she had on. “Well I hope you enjoy your stay” Florence smiled back at you while she noticed your attention on her necklace.
“Do you like dragonflies?” she added. Quickly turning your attention back to her green eyes you nodded lightly, “I do, I think they’re really pretty and unique”. “Here, you should have this then” she spoke as she reached behind her neck and undid the latch. “Oh no, I couldn’t” you insisted, “how about you keep it and when we meet again you can return it?” she looked at you with a gently but loving smile, placing the golden necklace in your hand. “No, really, I can’t do that, I mean…. this is such a once in a lifetime moment for me” you replied, handing the necklace back. “Please, take it. Maybe in 10 years we meet again, until then, it is yours” she spoke, refusing to take the necklace. “What’s your name?” she added, “Y/n” you replied. “Well, Y/n, until we meet again, please keep the necklace” she smiled before getting up from her seat. “Thank you, you really didn’t have to do that” you smiled at her. “Have a wonderful night” she spoke as she walked past, tapping you on the shoulder.
Later that night as you laid in bed, dangling the necklace in front of you, you couldn’t believe the events that took place tonight. You met Toby, Raffie and Florence! You questioned why Florence was so insisted that you keep her necklace, maybe she liked the fact you didn’t crowd her or maybe she saw how much you liked the little pendant. Did she mean what she said? Could you meet her again in 10 years or so? Was fate that good, that strong? The thoughts kept you awake for hours, slowly making you more and more tired, soon drifting off to sleep wondering why Florence spent the time she did with you.
The following morning you decided to go back to Café Coco for breakfast, this time you ordered a breakfast tea and an omelette before making your way around the city doing some sight-seeing and shopping. “Back again I see” the waiter from yesterday smiled to you as he placed your tea in front of you, “what can I say? That food was banging!” you replied with a smile. “I’m glad to hear that” he chuckled, “your food shouldn’t be too much longer, yell out if there is anything else you need” he added before placing a bottle of water on the table. “Thank you” you said as he walked away. The café wasn’t as crowd as yesterday, in fact it was sort of peaceful how quiet it was currently. You sipped on your tea as you flicked through the news articles on your phone as the city slowly became louder and louder with the chitter chatter of by passers.
“Please tell me that’s tea and not coffee” you heard a voice over you, you looked up and were to surprise to see Florence standing there with a smile. “It’s only right to have a tea this early in the morning” you smiled back to her. “I totally agree, tea all day every day” she joked, causing you both to chuckle. “Is this seat taken?” she asked “please, be my guest” you replied with your hand out, gesturing her to sit. “How was the rest of your night last night? No hangover?” Florence asked as she sat down across from you once again. You tried to hide the blush that washed over you, here she was, sitting across from you, the green in her eyes shined through as the sun hit her face just at the perfect angle. Proud of yourself for not completely freaking out over the fact Florence was willingly wanting to have more than a 20 second encounter with you. “I had a great night, I didn’t drink that much but I think if I were here with friends than the story would be completely different” you replied, “Oh you’re here alone?” she questioned. “Yeah, none of my friends were able to score the day off work to come to the show last night so I came alone, although it’s not that bad, I can relax and do some sight-seeing without feeling like I’m boring them” you let out a soft chuckle.
“Oh no no no! I can’t let you see the city of Oxford by yourself!” Florence replied, “let me take you around, it’ll be fun, I can show you the real oxford and not whatever google says you need to see! What do you think?” she asked excitingly. “I don’t see why you!” you replied giving her another smile. “Perfect, we’ll have breakfast and head off”.
You almost forgot about the deal from last night, “oh before I forget! Here you go” you spoke as you pulled out the golden dragonfly necklace from your purse and handed it to Florence. “You said, until we meet again that I could keep this. Well, here we are, meeting again” you added as she slightly tilted her head and smiled. “Keep it, I think it might be the perfect story for the future” she spoke, leaving you confused on her comment. “Are you sure?” you asked, “of course, and if you don’t enjoy your time today then I’ll allow you to give it back” she explained just as the waiter came back with your food.
*Huge time jump*
“Darling! Dinner is ready” your wife called from the kitchen, “I’ll be there in a moment” you spoke back as you freshened up in the bathroom. You stood looking at yourself in the mirror for a moment as you fiddled with the necklace you wore daily, reminiscing on the day Florence made the comment of the necklace being the perfect story for the future. “Babe we’re waiting!” you heard your wife call once more. You smiled before you left the bathroom and made your way downstairs to the dining room. “Mumma look! We made spaghetti!” your daughter ran to you with her arms out. “It smells amazing” you smiled as you picked her up and placed her on your hip, “is everything okay my love?” Florence turned to you as she placed a bowl of salad on the table, “everything is perfect” you smiled before giving her a soft kiss, “ewwww” your daughter cringed at the scene causing you and Florence you chuckle.

Neymar finds out that his teenage daughter is dating Ethan Mbappé and was mad that she didn't tell him.
caught ! | neymar x teen! fem! reader!
warnings; ?? protective neymar , like a curse word
note; had to add bruna 🫶 and my requests are closed!!!! i’m not taking any requests atm!!!! also not proof read so sorry if it’s bad😩😩
masterlist !
Tumblr media
“Oi [hey] , where are you two going?” Neymar questions when he sees you and Bruna all dressed up. You had landed in Paris the day before after spending a few weeks in Brazil. The only thing on your mind was seeing your boyfriend, the boyfriend that your father had no idea of.
Bruna was the only one who knew. You were both close and became even closer after recent news. She also knew how protective Neymar was over you and decided that it wasn’t her place to tell him.
She was going with you to watch Ethan’s game which was when your father caught you both.
“Oh, just a girls trip, right, Bruna?” You say as you look up at her with an expression that screamed ‘play along’
“Oh, yeah!” Bruna exclaims, a smile appearing on her lips. “Just having a girls day. It’s been a while since we had one. We’ll be back in a few hours.”
Neymar raises his eyebrow as he slowly nods in reply. “Well, have fun and send lots of pictures.” He says with a smile before kissing Bruna and kissing your forehead.
You both quickly said goodbye before making your way out of your home. You and Bruna share a look that screamed ‘we have to be careful’.
Thankfully, you and Bruna were already close and had lots of pictures together on your phone that you can send to your father. You both assumed you were safe while you cheered on for your boyfriend.
Ethan was phenomenal. He did an amazing assist and even more amazing goal. You couldn’t have felt more proud of your boyfriend. After the game, you took many photos with Ethan, Kylian, Bruna, and even his parents.
Bruna had taken an adorable picture of you two. You were standing on your tiptoes and hugging Ethan while placing a kiss on his cheek. She also took another picture of the two of you actually kissing.
You and Bruna kept gushing about the photo as you both made your way back home. You had taken her phone to send yourself the pictures when something goes incredibly wrong.
“Merda! [shit] ” You loudly exclaims after realizing what you had just done.
Bruna turns to you with wide eyes, “O que aconteceu? [what happened]” She asks, her words full of worry.
“I accidentally sent the photos to my dad.” You quietly say. You both share a look knowing what was waiting for you when you get home.
And you were right.
The moment you stepped into your home, you immediately saw the angry and disappointed look on your fathers face as he sat in the living room.
“Hey, papai! Our girls trip was amazing. Super tiring though, i’m just going to head to my room!” You nervously say but before you could take another step, he stops you.
“Y/n, come here. You know exactly why I want to talk to you.”
Bruna lets out a sigh as she pats Neymar’s arm, “Don’t be too hard on her. You were young too once.” She quietly tells him before leaving to her room, giving you two privacy.
“Come here, sit next to me.” He tells you.
You slowly nod and sit down on the coach beside him. “Papai, look, I truly care about Ethan. I don’t care if he’s Kylian’s brother, I-“
“Minha filha, I’m not mad that you’re dating Kylian’s brother. I don’t have anything against them.” Neymar quickly interrupts you. You immediately went from tense and nervous to confused.
You tilt your head to the side before replying, “You’re not? Then why do you seem mad?”
“I’m upset because you thought it’d be best to keep it hidden from me. I’m guessing Bruna knew before me.” He lets out a sigh, running his hands over his dark curls. “I thought you trusted me enough to tell me. If he makes you happy, then that makes me happy. I just wish you would’ve told me.”
You looked down at your hands which were resting on your lap. You couldn’t help but fidget with your rings. “I’m sorry, papai. I was just scared that you wouldn’t approve of him.”
Neymar gently places his hand under your chin, making you look at him. “If he makes my daughter happy, then I approve. Just as long as he doesn’t hurt my daughter.”
You immediately wrap your arms tightly around your father. “I’m sorry for not telling you sooner, papai.”
“Don’t worry, minha filha. Just next time, don’t be scared to tell me even if he hurts you. Because that I would like to know.”
“He won’t, papai.”
“Sure. But at least tell me how you met. Did he treat you well?”

Matchmaking Harringtons 3
Steve was having a great time with Eddie. It was mostly because he was just that amazing. He was funny, hot, cute, and totally into him. A winning combo in Steve's opinion. But it was all due in no small part to the fact that his parents were so supportive. Steve didn't talk about the girls he dated that much (because why would he?) but his folks seemed actively interested in his going with Eddie.
Maybe it was the whole 'serious relationship' thing they were trying to commit him to. Maybe they were overcompensating for not being around much and wanting to also prove they were okay with his preferences. Either way, they always wanted to know how things were going with Eddie.
They'd been going out for a couple of dates at this point and honestly each one was better than the last. They were all typically low-key, with moments that they were able to get alone for a bit of privacy.
"Let's just say the back of his van is very spacey", Steve said into the phone as he paced about his room.
"So...you're still a total slut then?", Robin said from the other end of the line.
"Guys can't be slutty. And it's not being a slut if it's with the same guy."
"So you've?"
Diane was in the middle of bringing up a basket of laundry when she heard her son's conversation in his room. She swore she'd never be the kind of mother that constantly eavesdropped but well, the door was open just a smidge...
"Not, not the full thing, all the way yet. I think he's nervous. Or he can tell I'm nervous? I don't know. I told him I'd never been with a guy before and I thought that might make him, you know, take initiative?"
"Or maybe he's taking things slow because he doesn't wanna scare you off?", Robin suggested.
"That...could be it. But that's kinda why I called. I thought he was moving kinda slow, but guess where he's taking me tomorrow?"
"Steve, is Munson taking you to a hotel?"
Steve rolled his eyes. "No. He's taking me to Le Petit Nuange. That French place a town over?"
Robin gasped. "Sacre bleu! Va-t-il faire une proposition?"
"Robs, please. My extent of French is 'filet mignon'."
"Do you think he's serious? Like trying to meet your parents serious?"
"I don't know? Maybe? It's just weird. Le Petit is just...so not Eddie."
Diane was inclined to agree. A fancy place like that seemed out of character for someone as boisterous and non-conforming as Eddie. He has once brought a bouquet of lilies, despite their dire meaning. 'Screw flower language, these are some damn fine flowers', he had said.
And even if he thought of taking Steve somewhere special, Enzo's was the nicest place in town. Where would he get the idea to go to the next town?
Jonas.
Diane had thought he was being suspicious when he hid Steve's shoes before a date and met Eddie outside to talk. Diane had thought he'd been giving the boy some kind of shovel talk. He must've been giving Eddie advice on where to take Steve instead.
And she could just imagine what he was trying to do - clean Eddie up. Well, if he wanted to go behind her back, then two could play at that game.
-------------------------
The doorbell rung and Steve answered it. Eddie was there, in a button up shirt with long sleeves that hide his tattoos. His hair was pulled back into a ponytail. And he had a bouquet of nice, traditional, red roses.
"They're beautiful", Steve beamed. He took a moment to put the roses in a vase, missing the thumbs up his dad gave Eddie. Diane however, did not miss it.
"Your chariot awaits", Eddie said, giving a sweeping bow and then locking his arm with Steve's. "Have a good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Harrington!", he called back.
As the van roared down the street, Diane enacted her own plan. She had her husband would also be having a date night.
At Le Petit Nuange, Eddie and Steve were being seated and Eddie had never felt more out of place. It was like everyone could tell he didn't belong here. But when he saw Steve smiling from across him, he knew there was no place he'd rather be.
"What made you want to bring me here?", Steve asked.
Jonas had practically cornered Eddie when he had come to pick up Steve, saying he just wanted to talk a little. Eddie was prepared for the whole 'I have a shotgun/shovel and I'm not afraid to use it.'
"Let's talk", he had opened with. "Steve and you have been having fun, right?"
"Uh, yes? I guess?", Eddie said, unsure now.
"Fun's all well and good Eddie. But now's the time to show Steve you're serious. And you are serious? Aren't you, son?"
"Y-yes. Yes, I am, serious like a heart attack."
"Then you've gotta take him some place special. A place like, uh, say Le Petit Nuange", Jonas rubbed at his chin.
Eddie's brows rose up under his fringe. "Le Petit Nuange? That place is-"
"Is upscale. Which is what Steve deserves, isn't it?"
Eddie swallowed. "Yeah, yeah it is."
He looked at Steve's hand, sitting on the table, just asking to be held. Steve deserved all this and more. And Eddie wanted to be the one to give it to him. It was why he took extra shifts and more of his side business to have the dough to take Steve here.
"I just looked up places in the yellow pages and thought you might like it."
"You know, my parents actually come here a lot", Steve pointed out.
"You don't say", Eddie tried to hide his expression by covering his face with the menu. When he got a look at the prices, it did a good job hiding the way his eyes bugged out. Looks like his purse strings would be a little tight after this. But he had prepared for that. Steve was worth it.
He was worth the stiff shirt, the swanky eatery, and even spending more time selling music that was beneath him to the general populace.
"So tell me more about this gig you've got coming up", Steve said.
Eddie's face broke out into a wild smile and he nearly slammed the menu down. "It's gonna be a ride, Stevie." He wasn't shouting, but his volume was a little louder than polite, and he felt eyes on him. He cleared his throat and quieted himself. "I mean I'm excited to rub elbows with other bands. The experience is sure to be enlightening."
Steve gave him an odd look. "Yeah, I hope my parents let me go. Indy isn't far, but I feel like they've been keeping a closer eye on me lately."
The thought of Steve being in a crowd while he played made Eddie wanted to jump for joy. He wanted to tell him come, even if his parents said no. Sneak out for the weekend, what could they do? He was a man now. But he couldn't do that. Not just because he was trying to clean up and having his new boyfriend at a metal venue might ruin that image. It was also because Steve's had nice parents.
There weren't many that could both accept and encourage their queer child.
"You know Steve, your parents-hcck!" Eddie choked on his words as he saw the Harringtons walk right in and get led to a table.
"What about my parents?", Steve asked.
"They're uh, they're um great!", Eddie squeaked, then cleared his throat to get it back to its normal register. "I mean they're great. I can tell they love you very much."
Steve smiled, none the wiser to his folks being seated not too far away. Eddie tried not to look at them, tried to ignore them. But this couldn't be a coincidence.
Jonas was looking around while trying not to look around. "When you said you wanted to go out tonight....I didn't think you meant this place."
"Why not?", Diane questioned. "We're regular patrons. And it's been a while since we went out." They'd been getting plenty of alone time what with Steve dating now, but they usually spent their evenings at home.
Jonas pulled out her chair for her and when he sat down, he used the menu to continue looking around. Diane watched him like a hawk.
Steve didn't know what was going on with Eddie. He looked nice dressed this way, sure. But it didn't feel like him. He felt...smaller somehow. Like he was trying to shrink himself down. Even as they talked, his smiles were restrained, he didn't move his hands as much, and even his voice seemed like it was being held back.
Steve watched as he cut his food, using minimal motions like he was working with glass.
"Eddie, are you okay?"
"Huh? Yeah, course, I'm fine. I uh, I just need to hit the can-uh use the facilities. Please excuse me."
Eddie got up in a haste. He thought he'd be ready for tonight. It was just playing pretend. Potentially for the rest of his life. Maybe having an audience of the parents was what was tripping him up. He got close to the bathroom when a hand tapped his shoulder. He turned to see none of than Mrs. Harrington.
"Don't worry, I know this wasn't your idea", she started right off. "My husband put it in your head. I'll admit, I like the idea of Steve being treated like a prince, but if you clean up too much he'll get confused."
"Right, yeah, gotta strike a balance. Mhm."
"Glad we could talk", she patted his arm. "Go get him, tiger."
Eddie returned to Steve and saw Diane come back to her table not long after. He could see them exchange words, although he couldn't hear what. Then Jonas got up from his seat. He gave Eddie a strange look while making his way to the bathroom. Eddie sighed and excused himself again.
"Now I don't know what my wife might've said to you, but you've got to stay on this path. I can see a real future with you and Steve if you do."
"A real future?"
"I could only give my son to someone who could take care of him. You understand what I mean, don't you?"
Eddie nodded. The kind of man who could take Steve to these places and not have his soul leave his body when he looked at the menu. When Eddie sat back down, he looked at Steve, sitting across from him. It was the kind of view he could get used to.
Somehow, the meddling didn't end there. The Harringtons took turns, getting up to meet with Eddie and each time he had to come up with an excuse.
"I'm gonna check their wine selection."
"I want to make sure the kitchen knows my allergies."
"I'm gonna see if the violinist takes requests."
Finally, Steve stood up with him and grabbed Eddie by the elbow. "Come with me."
Steve took him to the bathroom and locked the door behind them.
"Steve", Eddie gasped, scandalized when his neck started to get kissed.
"You've been antsy all night." Steve's hands went to his hips and began to untuck his shirt.
Instantly, Eddie felt like being released from shackles. Steve's hand roaming under his shirt left him so distracted, he almost didn't hear what he said next.
"Hm?"
"I said, do you wanna get out of here?"
"The bill-", Eddie was cut off when Steve reached behind him and took down his hair, running his fingers through it to free the tresses.
"A little dine and ditch never hurt anyone."
Eddie looked to the window in the bathroom. Just barely big enough to make a getaway. He was halfway out when they heard someone knocking on the door. Eddie was helping Steve out as the handle was shaking. Steve was giggling and it was like a sweet bell to his ears.
They were making their way around the back of the restaurant and towards the van as the manager finally came around with a key.
Diane and Jonas could make out the commotion going on near the bathroom and saw the empty table where two lovebirds should be.
"You knew I made Eddie take Steve here", Jonas confirmed.
"Yes."
"And every time you got up-"
"Was to speak with Eddie. And now they've-"
"-Snuck out the bathroom."
Together they sighed, remembering when they snuck out of stuffy formals to be alone together. And because they wondered if they were doing right by their son.
"We're going to have a long talk when we get home, huh?", Jonas asked his wife.
"Oh yeah."
"Any hope for me?"
"Ask me after dessert."

Knb Airplane headcanons
Tumblr media
Awakening from my eternal slumber to drop this post.
Kagami:
He puts his headphones in the minute he arrives at the airport and he doesn’t take them off until he lands (except for the safety demonstration he’s not going to be RUDE)
He listens to music and probably daydreams about basketball or something.
Absolutely did not bring enough clothes and he’ll be wearing the same shirt all week.
He brought one carryon and half of it is filled with plane snacks. But he wasn’t about to check a bag for an extra 30 dollars don’t be ridiculous.
He prefers the aisle seat for the leg room and a quick escape to the bathroom.
Gets up to pee a minimum of 3 times.
But he helped an old lady put her luggage in the overhead compartment.
Kuroko:
Got lost looking for his gate.
He does flights completely raw. No music. No games. No movies. No reading. Just vacant dissociation. He sits there and stares at the little plane on the tv on the seat in front of him for 4 hours.
He is absolutely getting stuck in the middle seat.
Sometimes he will watch the movies on other people’s screens but he will never watch his own.
The flight attendant forgot to ask him if he wanted a complimentary sack :(
But it’s okay he bought a little baked treat at the coffee shop in the airport .
Probably reads the safety pamphlet.
Kise:
Dressed to impress. He is looking for his airport crush.
The flight attendants have to body slam his suitcase into the overhead compartment because it’s way too big but he gets away with it.
Makes small talk with the person sitting next to him.
Window seat princess.
Has at least 3 screens open. He’s got a movie playing on the seat in front of him, he’s got his laptop open and he is also on his phone.
Goes full iPad kid.
Midorima:
Shows up the the airport 3 hours early.
Brings a months worth of luggage for a 3 day trip.
A nervous flyer, he sits the and white knuckles the arm rests the entire flight.
He does not fly on unlucky days.
He sits there and plays sudoku the entire flight. Not even on his phone either, he has a printed book of sudoku puzzles.
He’s that guy who turns on his reading light when the entire rest of the plane is dark.
He sits in the aisle and gets annoyed every time someone gets up to use the bathroom because he’s a little hater.
Aomine:
He thinks he wants the window seat but then he spends the entire flight complaining that he doesn’t have enough leg room.
Watches movies on the plane but he doesn’t have any shame for what movie it is.
Takes his headphones out when the flight attendant tells him to for the safety demonstration and then blatantly puts them right back in after they leave.
Whole heartedly believes that if something happened to the pilot, he could land the plane.
Momoi:
She probably was also a little late but it’s Aomine’s fault somehow.
She stops and gets a fun little drink after security and then goes and watches the planes take off.
Also if she is not flying then she is tracking everybody’s flights like a dad.
She starts out in the aisle seat but switches with Aomine half way through because he won’t stop complaining about not having enough leg room.
She listens to music and plays games on her phone.
Absolutely annihilating like 200 levels of wordscapes.
If she knows them, she will force the person beside her to play her phone game with her.
Murasakibara:
Chronic man-spreader.
Showed up to the airport 15 minutes before boarding, took his sweet time getting to the gate, stopped for food but somehow still made it on time.
Puts on a movie but then falls asleep the entire flight.
Armrest hog send this man to jail.
Asks the flight attendant for an extra snack.
Aisle seat for sure he wouldn’t survive the middle seat.
Akashi:
He is flying business class.
And he is wearing his Sunday best.
Arrives punctually, has a drink and a snack in the business class lounge before hand.
He probably also makes small talk with the person sitting next to him (Just to see if he can)
During the flight he mostly reads.
But he usually picks the window seat so he can look out the window (and plot)
Sometimes he will pull out his laptop and do work on the plane

afternoon delight
pairing: rhett abbott x girlfriend!reader
author’s note: this idea has been rolling around in my head for a while, and all the recent lew content has given me the push i needed to finally write it. i’ve been in a bit of a rut with my writing lately, so i’m just glad to be able to get this out of my system!

Nothing was more boring than working the afternoon shift at your parents’ general store.
Well, maybe that wasn’t exactly true.
Nothing was more boring than working the afternoon shift at your parents’ general store alone.
At least when Moira or Kayla shared a shift with you, there was time for some idle chitchat and laughter. But it was a few weeks yet before the spring semester was over and the girls would return home from college for the summer, so today you were on your own.
And you were bored.
It wasn’t that nobody in Wabang visited the store in the early afternoon hours, but there was definitely a lull in the already slow activity once lunchtime rolled around. Most people in town headed home around noon for a quick snatch of respite and sustenance. That, or they headed to The Handsome Gambler for a liquid lunch. Either way, their minds certainly weren’t on buying a new shovel or a few cans of paint.
So the store remained virtually empty as the bright afternoon sun reached its zenith in the wide open sky, and you were left dusting the already clean shelves for what felt like the hundredth time since you’d arrived. Your parents would have been there working with you, but they’d taken a drive to visit one of their suppliers.
“You’ll be alright on your own for a few hours, won’t you, sweetheart?” your mama had asked before she and your dad left.
It was a rhetorical question and you both knew it. Besides the fact that your parents were already well aware there’d be hardly any customers in their absence, you’d also grown up in the store and knew how it operated like the back of your hand.
“I’ll be fine, Mama,” you assured her, waving as they headed out the door. “See ya’ll later.”
And you were fine. You were just so bored you thought you might lose your mind.
Tapping your fingers absentmindedly on the countertop near the register, you glanced down at where your phone sat, silent and still. You’d toyed with the idea of calling Rhett and asking him to come keep you company, but you knew that wasn’t fair. He had a lot to do on the ranch, especially at this time of year, and he couldn’t afford to play hooky just to keep you entertained at work. Besides, he’d already promised to take you out to dinner tonight. As much as you missed him, you knew you’d just have to be patient.
Huffing out a decidedly impatient breath, you stepped over to the ancient radio your father had refused to part with and fiddled with the knobs until you landed on a radio station you were satisfied with. At least now the silence in the store wouldn’t feel so deafening. You couldn’t help but grin as a new song began, the mildly familiar tune swirling in the warm air, among the dustmotes and beams of light spilling in from the large glass windows at the front of the store. You didn’t even know the name of it, but you knew it had been playing on the radio the other night when Rhett took you out to go stargazing, the two of you lying in the bed of his truck and lazily pointing out various constellations in between whispered words and slow kisses.
Your mood brightening considerably at the memory, you began humming softly under your breath as you decided to take the time you had to yourself to restock some of the shelves in the back of the store. Stepping into the back room, you grabbed a new box full of deodorant and shampoo and dragged it towards one of the shelves along the back wall. You were so focused on lining the shelves in the orderly manner your mother had taught you that you were caught off guard by the sound of the front door opening, the small bell tinkling to announce the arrival of a customer.
“I’ll be right with you!” you called out, your back to the entrance of the store as you reached for the last couple bottles of strawberry-scented shampoo. You smiled to yourself when you remembered the time Cecilia had come in and bought a whole case of it at a discounted price. Rhett had smelled like strawberries for over a month. Not that you minded one bit.
So caught up in the vividness of that memory were you that you didn’t register the heavy footfalls making their way down the aisle until a familiar pair of muscular arms were snaking their way around your waist and the stubbled face you loved more than anything was pressing against yours.
“Mmm, and what if I’m in a hurry and too impatient to wait for you up there, huh?” Rhett’s husky voice whispered low in your ear, sending an involuntary shiver down your spine as his lips ghosted over your cheek.
“Rhett!” you gasped in surprised pleasure, dropping the shampoo bottle you’d been holding without a backward glance as you turned around and faced your boyfriend head on. He looked exceptionally rugged and handsome in his Stetson and Wranglers, the sleeves of the plaid shirt he was wearing rolled up to the elbows, revealing his sunkissed forearms, the ones that made you feel so safe whenever they were wrapped around you.
“Heya, honeybee,” he grinned in that way that had you mentally pinching yourself to remind you that he was real and not just a figment of your wildest dreams. Pushing his hat back with one calloused finger, he lowered his head to plant a slow, lingering kiss on your lips.
“What are you doing here?” you breathed out once he finally pulled back, your eyes half-lidded and your brain feeling a little fuzzy.
“Now what kind of greeting is that when I drove all the way out here to see you?” Rhett teased, reaching out and resting his hand on the shelf behind your head so that he was leaning over you slightly.
You smirked in return, not minding at all the close proximity of his hard, muscled body. “Do Royal and Perry know you’re sneaking off like this?” you asked with a chuckle, one of your fingers trailing lazily along the buttons on his shirt.
“My mom had to take Amy to a doctor’s appointment, so I told them I’d drive into town and pick up some lunch,” he explained, running a hand down your bare arm. You’d worn one of your favorite sundresses today—one that just so happened to be Rhett’s favorite, too—which left your arms and a good portion of your chest exposed to your boyfriend’s hungry gaze. Food clearly wasn’t the only thing on his mind. “I think they figure I’ll be a little while,” he added with a suggestive wink, which made your cheeks grow warm instinctively.
“Hmm, and I was just thinking to myself how lonely things were getting around here. You’ve got some timing, Abbott,” you grinned, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and pulling him down to you, kissing him deeply.
Rhett responded in kind, a low groan escaping his mouth as his arms wrapped around you and he pressed you tightly to his chest. As the kiss grew more intense, his tongue snaking out to brush against your bottom lip and beg entrance into your mouth, the two of you stumbled backwards, your back slamming up against the shelves you’d just been painstakingly restocking and upending an entire row of men’s deodorant, sending them crashing to the floor.
With low moans of both yearning and frustration, the two of you broke apart and glanced down at the mess you’d made.
“I’ll clean it up later,” you panted with an indifferent shrug of your shoulders, your lips seeking his once more.
“Damnit, honeybee,” Rhett moaned as you bit down gently on his bottom lip, his hands reaching up to play with the straps of your sundress. “You just had to wear this of all things?” he murmured, his voice thick and husky with want.
“Thought you’d like it for dinner tonight,” you whispered, smiling against his mouth.
He threw his head back slightly, which granted you access to his exposed throat. “Like it right now,” he ground out, his fingers running through your hair as you nipped and sucked on his neck. “Fuck, baby, I need you. Right now,” he practically growled, holding you closer so that you could feel just how intense his need was.
“Not here,” you told him, glancing over his shoulder. “Someone might walk in.” You could feel his heart thrumming in his chest, could hear the unsteady rhythm of his breathing. Your own heart was beating wildly, your body aching with just as much need as his. “Come help me with something in the back,” you told him with a mischievous grin, taking his hand and leading him into the back supply room, making sure to close the door firmly behind you.
It wasn’t a huge room, but it felt even smaller with Rhett standing in it, his large, powerfully built frame the only thing your eyes could focus on.
His gaze was fixed on you as well, his blue eyes blazing as he looked at you. He only broke eye contact for a moment to glance around the room, a smile curving his lips as his eyes darted back to your face.
“Never imagined we’d be fooling around in here, honeybee,” he murmured, his pulse racing at the very notion of taking you in the back of your parents’ store, a store which anyone from town could walk into at any moment.
“Do you not want to?” you asked, chewing on your bottom lip and twisting your hand in the folds of your dress.
“Oh, make no mistake, baby,” Rhett rasped, stepping closer to you. “I want to.” His eyes were serious as he suddenly wrapped his hands around your hips and lifted you up onto the wooden worktable that sat behind you, spreading your legs so that he could step between them. “I want to,” he said again, burying his fingers in your hair as he kissed you like a starving man.
“We don’t have a lot of time,” you breathed out, rubbing your body against his and kicking your sandals off so that they fell to the floor. “Someone could—I mean anyone might—”
“Honeybee, trust me,” he cut you off, resting his forehead against yours. “The way you got me goin’, I don’t need much time.”
You mewled softly in response, turned on by his words as he lowered his head to kiss you once more. You were desperate to run your fingers through his hair, but his hat was in the way. Moaning softly against his lips, you reached up and tugged it off his head. For a moment, you considered dropping it next to you on the table, but then a better idea struck you. Smirking slightly, you dropped his hat right on top of your head, feeling the way his body went taut beneath your palms.
“Honeybee,” he grunted, his work-roughened fingers digging into your waist through the fabric of your dress. “You’re really determined to make me lose my damn mind, aren’t you?”
“Come on, cowboy,” you whispered teasingly, your tongue flicking out against his lower lip. “Clock’s ticking.”
Your words seemed to flip some kind of switch in his mind because suddenly he was pulling you to the edge of the table, his hands less than gentle as he shoved your dress up, bunching it around your waist. Slipping his hand between your legs, he pushed your panties to the side and swiped two fingers up your slit without preamble.
“Fuck,” he panted under his breath, his head falling forward to lean against your shoulder. “Already soaking wet for me, honeybee,” he moaned, pressing a kiss to your bare skin just to the right of your dress strap.
You just gasped out his name in response, your arms tightening around him, which spurred him to slip both those fingers inside you, curling them against your spongy walls in a way that had you struggling to catch your next breath.
“Rhett,” you whimpered, burying your face in the crook of his neck as his fingers pumped in and out of you at a relentless pace. He smelled like sweat and sun and the Wyoming earth. He smelled like Rhett. And there was nothing that aroused you more.
“Sh, sh, I got you, baby. I’m gonna take care of my girl,” he murmured softly, peppering your temple and the side of your face with kisses.
“Need you,” you gasped, fisting your hand in the front of his plaid work shirt. “Need you inside me. Now,” you begged, your pulse racing in your veins as the temperature in the back room steadily climbed.
Rhett didn’t put up any argument, his fingers sliding out of you as he reached for the waistband of your panties and tugged them down your legs, leaving the soft scrap of fabric dangling around your ankles, all while you reached for the belt at his waist, unbuckling it with lithe fingers before making quick work of the button and zipper of his jeans.
“Damn, honeybee, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you move so quickly. Like lightning,” Rhett chuckled hoarsely, pressing a sloppy kiss to your mouth.
“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” you laughed breathlessly, helping him tug down his jeans and his boxers just enough so that he could free himself from their constraints. He was thick and hard and ready, but he pumped himself a few times for good measure before lining himself up against your entrance.
“You alright, baby?” he asked, stroking your cheek with his free hand. He knew you were usually used to more foreplay than this, and he didn’t want to hurt you.
“Mhm,” you nodded, cupping his face in your hands to reassure him. “Please, baby,” you mouthed against his lips.
Within seconds, he was buried deep inside you, your fingers tangled in his hair and your legs locked around his waist as he began rocking his hips back and forth in an increasingly frenzied rhythm.
It was messy and sloppy and chaotic, and you loved every minute of it. You cherished the moments of slow lovemaking that you and Rhett shared, when he worshiped every inch of your body and took his time giving you more pleasure than you ever could have thought possible. But you also loved these wild and crazy moments, when the two of you were so overcome by your animalistic need for each other that your bodies came crashing together in a way that was so uncontrolled and frantic and perfect because it was yours.
“Rhett,” you moaned, your voice high-pitched with pleasure. “Rhett, Rhett, Rhett,” you cried, tugging on his hair and panting against his ear, your words tumbling out in concert with the sound and rhythm of his thrusts.
“Right here, honeybee,” he gasped out, lacing his fingers through yours as he reached for one of your hands. “I’m right—oh, yeah. Oh, shit, baby. Shit, shit, shit,” he grunted as his movements became more frenetic and out of sync.
You knew he was close. So were you.
“Rhett! Baby, I’m—”
“Sweetheart?”
Everything came to a crashing halt as the sound of your mother’s voice suddenly pierced your consciousness. Your back stiffened immediately and your eyes went wide with horror.
“Rhett!” you whispered frantically, your boyfriend still rutting inside you.
You could tell from the way his head had shot up in alarm that he could hear your mother, too, but he was too far gone now. You both were, and neither of you knew how to stop.
You heard your mother call out your name, louder this time. “Are you here, honey?”
Terrified of what your voice would sound like when you called out to her, you first made sure to clamp a hand over Rhett’s mouth, trying to keep him as silent as possible.
“Y-yes, Mama!” you called out, breathing through your nose to keep from screaming out in pleasure as Rhett continued to pound away, hitting your most sensitive spot. “I’m in the back!”
Rhett’s forehead screwed up in concentration and you felt him take your fingers into his mouth, which sent your eyes rolling into the back of your head in ecstasy.
“Are you okay? Do you need help?” your mother asked. It still sounded like she was near the front of the store.
“No!” you practically shouted, eyes widening once more. “I mean, um, I’m okay! I’ll be out in a m-minute,” you announced, your legs starting to tremble violently.
Burying your face in Rhett’s shoulder, your hand still clamped firmly over his mouth, you rocked your hips against his at an almost violent pace, desperate to drive the both of you over the edge.
You could feel him tense up, caught his gaze as he looked at you, his blue eyes almost hazy from the high of his pleasure. Wordlessly, the two of you stared at one another as, seconds apart, you came undone, your mouth open in a silent scream as your climax tore through you. You could feel the warmth flooding you as Rhett reached his finish as well, his chest heaving as you continued to hold your hand against his lips.
Your mother called your name again as Rhett’s lips met yours in a searing kiss, one that robbed you of any breath you might have had left.
“Just a minute, Mama!” you called, hoping you didn’t sound as lightheaded as you felt.
“God, I love you,” Rhett whispered, holding you close to his chest as he stroked your back slowly.
“I love you, too,” you whispered in return, leaning against him for support.
Knowing you were short on time, he pulled back reluctantly to reach for your panties, sliding them back up your legs and securing them in place. He pressed the fabric against your entrance, knowing it was liable to get messy when you stood up. He dropped a kiss on your forehead before stepping back to adjust his pants, buckling his belt as quietly as possible.
“Grab that box off the shelf,” you instructed him, sliding off the table and adjusting your dress. “There’s no way Mama isn’t going to see you, so we’ll just tell her you were helping me get some things from back here.”
Rhett shot you a mildly skeptical look, but did as you told him, pulling a large box off a high shelf.
Just as you were about to open the door, however, he suddenly hissed. “Honeybee! My hat!”
Gasping, you quickly pulled off his Stetson and dropped it back on his head, grateful that he was paying more attention than you were.
When you and Rhett finally stepped back into the store, your mama looked over and raised a surprised brow.
“Hi, Mama,” you chirped with an overly bright smile. “Rhett just stopped by on his lunch break and offered to help me get some boxes from the back,” you offered before she could even ask.
“Ma’am,” Rhett nodded respectfully, his cheeks turning bright red.
Your mama glanced from you to your boyfriend, then to the back of the store, and back again. You felt your heart plummet inside your chest. Your mother wasn’t a stupid woman. And you weren’t a very good liar.
“Thank you, Rhett,” was all she said, glancing down at the cash register. “Always such a good boy.”
“Of course, ma’am. Um, thank you,” Rhett stammered sheepishly, unable to meet your mother’s eye.
“Um, well, shouldn’t you get going, baby? I’m sure your daddy and brother are getting hungry, waiting on you to bring home lunch,” you said, shooting him a pointed look.
“Oh, yeah,” Rhett nodded, blue eyes widening slightly. “You’re right about that. I best be off. I’ll see you tonight, honeybee,” he told you, pressing a chaste kiss to your cheek. Turning towards your mother, he tipped his hat in deference before hurrying out the front door.
As soon as the door slammed shut behind him, your mother turned to look at you, eyebrows arched.
You swallowed nervously, wanting nothing more than for the earth to devour you whole.
“Just be glad, little missy, that it was me and not your daddy who came back early,” your mama said, shooting you a knowing look before pulling out the ledger from underneath the counter. “Now can you go pick up that deodorant that’s all over the floor?”
“Yes, Mama,” you nodded, your mortification complete as you slowly walked towards the back of the store.
As you walked, you felt your phone buzzing in your dress pocket. Pulling it out, you saw it was a text from Rhett.
Sorry, honeybee 😬😘
Smiling despite yourself, you tapped out a quick message in response.
You’ll just have to make it up to me tonight 😉

Joel is a tough man and you thought you would never see him cry, until the day you gave birth to your beautiful baby daughter and the moment he held her in his arms for the first time he teared up
In fact, he managed to wipe a tear that insisted on running down his cheek quickly, but you caught that moment and pretended you didn't so you wouldn't embarrass him
But from the moment he held his baby daughter in his arms for the first time, he knew there was no turning back: his heart just overflew with love and that little princess had him wrapped around her tiny little finger
Joel loves his daughter so much he doesn't even have enough words to describe, all the worries and fears he had about maybe being too old to be a dad again and the trauma he had from being abandoned with a newborn were gone in the blink of an eye
Joel carries her all the time, yeah his back hurts but so what? he is not gonna let that stop him from holding her
He is so proud of her and he talks about her ALL.THE.TIME to whoever is willing to listen to it
He keeps pictures of his baby daughter in his wallet because he is old-fashioned™ but he also has his phone full of pics and videos of her smiling or doing something cute
Whenever he is out, he buys his baby girl something, he just can't help himself, if he sees something cute he's already swiping his credit card because his daughter deserves everything in the world
Joel is the toughest mf you've ever met, that man doesn't shy away from hard work or a bar fight, but he is terrified of clipping the baby's nails because they are just so tiny so he actually leaves that to you
But any other baby duty, he's there for you: diaper change, feeding or bathing the baby, he will help you without you even needing to ask, he just knows he's the father and that's his obligation too
Joel naps with the baby all the time, like his chest is pretty much her second bed because that baby sleeps peacefully all snuggled up against her daddy, she doesn't fuss or cry at all
If she cries in the middle of the night, he's the first one to get up and check on her, unless Joel is extremely tired and barely wakes up through the cries
He plays the guitar for the baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When she's already a few months old and is able to sit on the couch, he takes his guitar and strums it gently in front of her, always humming some song
And she loves it, smiling big and giggling and that absolutely kills Joel because he can't handle how much he loves that little thing
He doesn't sleep and spends the whole day worried when she's a little sick and he's with you during doctor's appointments whenever he can
Father's day is simply his favorite day of the year because Sarah usually comes home and he gets to spend the day with his two beautiful daughters and with the love of his life: you ❤️
