Ah sorry for the double ask but I'd like to think she picks him up and he curls his limbs and tail close to his body.

I meant more in the general sense of the word to evoke the image of her scooping him up and carrying him away- PK doesn't have a scruff! He's built like a snake wearing plate armour, a solid tube of muscle, which is actually even more reinforced near his neck. She can pretty much pick him up from any part of his body and he will be completely fine with it, though scooping from the chest or abdomen would of course be the least disorienting

He would instinctively attempt to curl up to protect his belly though; the underscales of a wyrm are thinner and flatter than the protective plates running down their backs and sides, so they're more vulnerable to being punctured in an attack. Best to defend them with the tail than to risk leaving them open, even if there's no other wyrms around to slam their mandibles into his stomach at mach speed
