📢 [OPINION] Avouons-le d'emblée, la couverture du numéro 5 de notre journal Embarquements avec une femme portant une burqa était peu vendeuse.

Nous n'avons pas transigé car nous avons d'abord voulu mettre en lumière l'Afghanistan d'aujourd'hui via un grand reportage là-bas signé Antonin Burat.

L'actualité nous donne malheureusement raison suite à l'obligation récente faite aux Afghanes de désormais porter un voile intégral en public. Elles sont les premières cibles de la doctrine des talibans.

Elles qui, depuis deux décennies, avaient progressivement acquis des #libertés nouvelles, mais qui ont vu en quelques mois les nouveaux maîtres du pays réduire à néant les progrès effectués.

Pour mémoire : les talibans avaient jusqu’ici exigé que les femmes portent au minimum un hidjab, un foulard couvrant la tête mais laissant apparaître le visage. Ils recommandaient cependant vivement le port de la burqa, qu’ils avaient déjà imposé lors de leur premier passage au pouvoir, entre 1996 et 2001.

Lors de ce premier régime, ils avaient privé les #femmes de presque tous leurs droits, conformément à leur interprétation ultrarigoriste de la charia, la loi islamique. Les agents du ministère de la promotion de la vertu et de la prévention du vice fouettaient d'ailleurs toute femme surprise dans la rue sans burqa.

Suite à leur retour au pouvoir l'été dernier, les talibans avaient promis de se montrer plus souples et plus tolérants. Ils ont renié leurs engagements.

L'histoire se répète, et c'est dramatique.

Quoiqu'il en soit, nous continuerons avec notre journal Embarquements de témoigner à hauteur d'hommes (et de femmes bien entendu) pour raconter le #monde tous #azimuts, sans manichéisme, ni simplisme, ni effets de manche.

"Notre métier n'est pas de faire plaisir, non plus que de faire du tort, il est de porter la plume dans la plaie", disait avec à-propos Albert Londres, grand #reporter et modèle en son genre.

Tant pis, si nos couvertures sont parfois trop anxiogènes, et peu vendeuses. Nous continuerons d'être sans concession et de mettre en lumière le travail de nos reporters, photographes comme "plumitifs".

Libres et indépendants, nous ne dépendons pour le moment que de vous chères lectrices et chers lecteurs !

C'est notre fierté mais une mission nous incombe, celle de vous "éclairer" autrement sur un monde certes fragmenté, mais où subsistent également des "îlots de lumières".

Ainsi tourne pour le moment la Terre.

Après des jours dans le coma, la source a déclaré "Mahsa Amini, 22 ans, est décédée aujourd'hui".

Elle a été tabassée par la police des mœurs parce qu'elle portait « mal son hidjab ».

Les femmes iraniennes sont scandalisées. Le hidjab forcé est le principal pilier de la dictature religieuse.

Hey there. Can you please motivate me to wear hidjab? I come from a muslim family yet our women usually dont wear hidjab unless they get too old.. and it's so hot here .. and I know I'll look ugly.. and I still wanna look classy for work ( I mean, I dont know if I'll manage to be tidy enough for work with this new style especially that I'm short and chubby lol).. and I'm not a very confident person, I'm afraid this is just a "short term religious excitement " that will disappear in a few and then I'll regret wearing it, I keep asking Allah to strengthen my faith so please pray for me too 🤍

there is no possibility that you’ll look ugly wearing it 🥺 when you do it out of heart, Allah places a noor in your face that can’t be compared to any make-up or hairstyle in the world.. and i get that work is important but remember to list your priorities in order. + i think the hijab adds so much elegance and class onto your appearance when you wear it right.

so many ppl question the heat under a hijab, but if you wear the right fabric in each season, you will have no problems. there is a reason why men and women from countries of extreme heat wear a headscarf.

Drow and their thoughts on the Three Monotheistic religions

With their perculiar family structure, lack of access to large amounts of cloth and their cultural practices around food...Drow values and habits are seldom compatible with many traditions.

They would have issue with Islam and Judaism mostly because it would means renouncing to the consumption of animal blood, which the Drow consider a delicacy and one of the few pleasures they have access to. They also have a taboo about eating salted meals. Not to mention, the islamic prohibitence on alcohol would create diplomatic issues, since alcoholic bevrages are one of the rare human foods they can successfully process. Not to mention, their poor access to cloth would make the hidjab almost impossible to observe.

Christianity, they would have a bigger issue with the sexual taboos. The modesty thing would be one problem amoung many. But both Catholicism, orthodoxy and many branches of protestantism forbid marriage between a widower and sister-in-law, which the Drow see not only as morally good, but almost mendatory. They consider it cruel to leave one's sibblings in law to struggle as single parents with many mouths to feed. A God that would forbid such decency is in their eyes unworthy of worship. They would veer against Catholicism the strongest, because of it's wide vision of incest, while the Drows are...As long as one doesn't get one's mother, daughter or sister pregnant, anything goes.

BASICS OF ISLAM: Fasting: When does Ramadan start and end?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

A lunar month is approximately 29.5 days, which is the time it takes for the moon to orbit Earth. Since a lunar month is, on average, one day shorter than a solar month, a lunar year is 10 to 12 days shorter than a solar year. Therefore, Ramadan comes 10 to 12 days earlier each year and so moves through the seasons, providing equal conditions for people living in different lands.

A new lunar month begins when, during the moon’s orbit around Earth, the moon is in conjunction with the sun and the sun’s light hits the side of the moon that is turned away from Earth.

In this position, the moon is said to be a “new moon,” with its dark side turned toward Earth. By definition, a new moon is not visible from Earth, as the sun’s light shines only on the side facing Earth. As the moon continues to orbit around Earth, it starts to form a crescent. This will be minutes after the new moon forms, even though the crescent will not be visible for several hours.

In some traditional Islamic countries, Muslims do not start fasting until they see the actual crescent. This event is confirmed by sighting the new moon, even if it is seen by only one person, or by the passage of 30 days in the immediately preceding month of Sha’ban.

However, according to some modern scholars, God has given us scientific knowledge to determine exactly when a lunar month will begin and end. Therefore, any observatory or other astronomy-related center should have this information for the area in which we live.

Fasting starts on the first dawn of the new month. During the few hours between the new moon and the following dawn, Muslims can eat and drink, and then start fasting when the first thread of light is observed in the sky.
