Musicman (jp) interview with Sean Miyashiro (CEO 88rising)
[16.9.2022]
-The next question is about the new school leaders. They are the first Japan-based artists signed by 88rising. What was it about them that attracted you?
Sean: When I first saw them, I thought they were crazy. There's something very eye-catching about performance, but it doesn't seem like anyone is telling you how to perform. Everything is a natural performance that comes out from the bottom of their hearts. So I really want to support them. I think they have the potential to become one of the biggest groups in the world. But to do that, everyone needs to work hard. Like BABYMETAL, the songs and shows have to be really great, and the fans, the management team, and the artists themselves have to work together to make that dream come true. New school leaders deserve more attention. We want to give them the opportunity to make their dreams come true.
The whole day is almost like a dream lineup. I’m actually so friggin jealous of the people who can attend. HITC needs to come back to NY with a lineup like that. I wanna see almost every one. Yerin Baek: QUEEN. LOVE. Actually in love with her music and voice. Please come to NY. XG: LOVE. QUEENS. Actual superstars. So talented. Please come back to NY. YOASOBI: QUEEN. LOVE. Has that special something. Please come to NY. Atarashii Gakko: not quite love but they are very unique and interesting. Tiger JK & Yoon Mirae: possibility of BIBI so LOVE. Need to see BIBI. QUEEN BIBI. LOVE. Please come to NY.
I was doing all these things, but I didn’t know anything about myself. Isn’t that weird? Like, you try to learn about everyone but yourself? Isn’t that weird that you love everyone but yourself? Isn’t that the weirdest thing in the world? Maybe... Maybe it’s time that we do love ourselves just a little bit, yeah?
