turning point... i guess it depends how you define a turning point? any point of development in their relationship? there's been a few--heliography, with Martyn deciding to swear a real oath to Ren (if still one he can back out of); sleeping hound, w Martyn realizing Ren wouldnt ever burn him; worship the ashes, love wins. there's another big one for Martyn planned that i havent written yet, and one, maybe two or three for Ren.

i get so many questions abt martyns og party you think after a year i would have answers to them but my answer is unfortunately always that i am a treebark writer making a treebark au and it isnt relevant to ren and martyn doing ren and martyn things so i didnt really bother

that said! i dont think they necessarily had roles? they all strike me as pretty mid-level adventurers. theyre not chosen ones on holy quests. none of them are going to have songs sung about them for decades to come. they can hold their own, but they arent saving the world. theyre like,,, fantasy backpacking. doing some minor jobs sometimes. all of em are skilled enough w their weapons/magic but none of em are like, The Fighter or The Mage.

all of them are swordsmen tho bc i think swords are cool. i think Jimmy is better at it than you think he is, but not as good as he says. he will occasionally surprise you by doing something really cool and then when he turns around to brag about it he eats shit. jimmys magic really only affects the area immediately around himself

i asked local to weigh in on bigb bc thats who im least confident on and he suggested bigb using a fighting style that heavily relies on a shield? like sword in one hand shield in the other. i think thats very sick. also, bigbs magic only affects his own body

i can see Grian having some kinda little explosives he uses to fight, tho he clearly doesnt have them anymore (and doesnt need em--bro has talons these days). he used to be immune to magic, but bc of the watchers, he now has a magical core and can be cast on, which is new to him

their group didnt have a leader, either, and all decisions were just made as a group. if asked, both Martyn and Jimmy would say they were the leader (tho neither would boast this anymore, due to believing that would imply having lead Grian to his death). Grian used to handle their money (and hes annoyed about having lost it)

Is there anything you would say lamplight Martyn is good at--- like a skill or something?

he's a musician! it's come up a few times, but he's skilled in a few instruments and has a nice singing voice. hes played a lute on page, i believe, but i think he could also use a harmonica. dont worry abt whether or not those have been invented yet i dont care i just think he deserves one. probs knows a fair amount of songs thatre good in taverns and some dances that accompany them. if he ever got tired of adventuring, he could probs make a fair amount playing at bars (he'd probs do it to fundraise for himself if he didnt have to worry abt ren's lantern)

he's also a pretty decent cook. at least, Ren really likes his cooking, when he has a body again, tho Ren hasnt eaten anything in 20 years

he's generally pretty strong/fit w good stamina to walk all day long. when Ren has a body again, Martyn will be strong enough to lift him, even tho Ren is taller than him. Ren finds this incredibly impressive. Ren finds everything Martyn does incredibly impressive

of course, there's also being a deadzone, making him completely immune to magic (within reason--if someone casts fireball at him hes still going to burn). charms and curses dont work on him at all, which is very helpful as an adventurer

Also, how long had the group been together before that incident at Dogwarts?

jimmy, grian, and martyn were childhood friends, all lived in the same town/neighborhood (Evo) and grew up together. bigb moved to their hometown/neighborhood when Dogwarts fell, he was about 10? theyve been friends ever since. so theyve known each other about 20 years minimum

(note on ages: i dont know how old any of these people actually are so in lamplight theyre all like early 30s. pretty sure grian and jimmy are like late 20s? and bigb and martyn are somewhere in their 30s? so i set em all as early 30s)

the answer to this is uh. kind of long and a little bit hysterical. so ill first direct you to this paragraph from moonlight ch2

i did actually have uh... a few things in mind for this? but not uh. not reasonable ones

so. quite a few of them. ill be honest. to fill the paragraph and make it long and expansive i recounted the pantheon from a zolu fic abt the entire strawhat pirate crew as gods which i wrote w my friend Sam when i was like 16. i do not think the strawhat pantheon is canon to lamplight but recalling the domains i used for the strawhats was how i made a lot of the list, so, uh, take that as you will

for other characters... the god of nothing is Scar. the god of death is Kristin. the god of blood is... not Technoblade, actually? tho ive thought abt him in Lamplight. i like to think he may actually also be a paladin, he travels around w Phil. gods of places references Ren but also is a shoutout specifically to my friend Zeph who loves place gods, so i just wanted the world to have lots of them

the god of survival is actually Martyn! in leaflight, the roleswap, Martyn has long since abandoned his post as a god, but he was born the god of survival

.....oh and uh. well. the god of decay is... me! my mcrp character on another server is the god of decay. the secret truth about this specific paragraph is i wrote the entire thing so i could make a cameo in lamplight

magic system... have i told you guys about magical cores? i had some of this already in mind but typing it out i made up a lot more. it is also approaching 1am so if this doesnt make any sense that's why

every person in lamplight has a magical core. it's sort of like a,,, spiritual organ? a little core of magic in them which takes magic from the air and makes it usable for an individual. cores vary in size/reserve, which is how much magic a person can do at max / how much magic their core can store. they also vary in type/strength of magic, which i guess is what a person's core processes ambient magic as

people can usually only use one kind of magic, which corresponds to what their core is. i think the type of magic is mostly determined by what/who it works on. it might work on just you and the space around you, it might work on just objects, it might work on animals, it might work on other people. magic which works on just yourself is most common and weakest, and the majority of people have that

deadzones dont have a magical core At All. theres nothing in there. straight up missing an organ. most deadzones are born this way, but i can see it be possible to become one if you Really, REALLY exhaust your core, tho that's probs rare

casting a spell depends entirely on belief. if you believe it should work, and are confident in your spell, it should do what you want, esp if it's in your power. you can... probs push your limits a bit if youre super confident, and doing this enough with enough confidence is basically the closest thing to training one's magic a person can get?

related, i can see bc of this kids having magic thats just a little stronger than adults bc of this, which is cute. kids probs also have smaller cores w smaller reserves, tho im not sure how much a core grows as a person ages

inanimate objects dont have magical cores or innate magic. i said earlier i think the lamplight world has a lot of ambient magic just floating about (which is how cores refill back to baseline once you use magic), but it doesnt stick to things unless you make it. to cast on an object, you have to use magic from your own core to adhere it to the thing youre casting on (which is why spells casted on objects dont USUALLY last that long--as said in moonlight, most only last a short while, and ren's enchants only lasted for months is just bc he was insanely powerful). you basically give items a little piece of your core with an instruction of how to use it

(jimmy's magic i think affects himself and ambient magic around him, while bigb draws entirely on his own core and can only affect himself)

i dont know if animals have magical cores ive never thought about it until this exact second. probably, but not ones most creatures know how to use? magic is belief based, they might use magic a little bit on accident? i dont know. some monsters absolutely have magical cores they know how to use

this is probs how zombies work. i think it's either a curse cast by one very powerful god/magic user a long time ago, or that people need to be properly buried or else weird things happen to their lingering magical core. or smth. i havent entirely decided

to cast on a person, you need to get your magic to stick to, cover up, or drown out Their magical core, depending on the spell. spells cast on other people dont last very long bc magical cores dont tend to like things intruding on them. this is why deadzones cant be cast on--no core, nothing for other magic to stick to

it's a little bit like a sliding scale? "weakest" magic is yourself, it's easiest to cast on yourself bc your will is your own and should generally line up w your magic, so long as you believe in what you're doing. then ambient magic, bc it's just chillin, you just need a little extra strength to grab it. then objects, tho you have to share a little will to cast on objects. then animals, they usually have smaller magical cores than ppl, friendly animals are a bit easier to bend to your will, tho some animals are harder to cast on then others, esp hostile animals or monsters. then other people. people have their own will and their own cores that are most difficult to bend/influence. so magic that works on other ppl is the "strongest"

being able to cast on a later step on the scale, like animals or ppl, doesnt mean you can do all the steps before it, tho. Scar i think can ONLY cast on living things, his magic sorta specializes in sticking to other ppls' cores. i would imagine all magic users can cast on themselves at least a little tho

to cast on a deadzone, you have to first give them a magical core, which is incredibly difficult, unstable, and dangerous. it requires a lot of power and a lot of people, which is why it did such weird things to Grian

divine magical cores are on another level entirely compared to mortals, and tho ren's was impressive as a human, it got infinitely more powerful when he became a god. he's basically a well of magic all on his own, w no limit on the size/reserve of his core

ren is overflowing w magic, but it works only on inanimate objects (things that dont have wills of their own to fight his) and himself (obviously he doesnt have to fight his own will). if Martyn werent a deadzone, he could probablt have cast on late-series Martyn, as martyn's will as ren's paladin would probs line up w ren's own

none of these rules are super hard and set in stone. lamplight magic is vibe based first and foremost

uhhh. i dont know if this all made sense? if it doesnt feel free to ask follow up questions

oh, and before anyone asks:

jimmy has a slightly more powerful core than bigb bc he can cast on ambient magic and bigb cant. bigb's core is probs bigger than jimmy's tho, so he can use more magic / use magic for longer than jimmy can

Any Martyn or Ren thoughts that you've been wanting to talk about?

heres a fun fact: gods are supposed to give their paladins blessings. Ren is no exception to this, but bc Martyn has no magical core, he cant receive them. if he did, ren's blessings would be all about protection. it'd basically be like casting armor enchants like protection and unbreaking directly on martyn's body? he'd less likely to be directly injured and sturdier in general. he would also be completely resistant to any fire, not just ren.

(the thing i said earlier is sort of why blessings work for Ren despite the fact hes technically mortal, but for other gods blessings are automatic so long as the paladin's oath stands)

Ren is aware of the fact he should be able to bless Martyn and cant and is sort of upset about it, but he blessed his armor, so he thinks thatll have to be enough

Any way I'll put my update thoughts below!

So I had really tapered my expectations for Fontaine and In someway that was a really good idea. 4.0 I wasn't off the mark when I predicted that it was gonna be Ace Attorney but from the timeline that lead to Marvel Vs Capcom. What I didn't predict was the Bioshock vibes that came in in 4.1

And honesty 4.1 was great. Lyney and Company, Neuvillette and Wriothesley, and even Clorinde was great.

Furina is still really pretty weak as a character because She's just a supped up Fischl but with the charm worn off.

I actually really liked Arlecchino a lot much to my own surprise.

I am really excited to see where the main story goes.

Now on to more finer Details. I ended up pulling for Lyney hoping to lose the 50/50 well I won. But I'm not to sad about it because honestly I love Lyney he was such a fun deep character.

Then came Neuvillette. It was SO HARD not to pull for him. I loved him so much his story quest was so good man.

But I'm also not sad I missed him because I Wrothesley. AND HOLY SHIT. THAT CUT SCENE MAN. THAT SCENE. AAAAAAAA. I'm such a lost cause man. Doesn't help that between patches my Jason Todd obsessions came back and THERE BE SOME SIMALLARITIES.

But short? Fontaine is turning out great so far but I'm still not gonna get my hopes too but because I can always go wrongs.

This episode was such a Gamer Moment™.

Also speaking of that. Why did this show turn into Chrono Trigger out of nowhere? That is like the last game I was expecting a reference to.

I'm not upset it's just, whenever cartoons reference video games, it's always just typically one of 4 things: Mario, Sonic, Pokémon, or any 80s arcade game. You're lucky if they even take a whiff of any game outside of Nintendo or the NES Era type shit. Like games just don't exist beyond anything released in the 80s. Every game is Pac-Man Era shit. That includes this show because I know I didn't point it out but YES I did see the sanic meme figurine & the other various Nintendo easter eggs like the Zelda or mario figures. I saw those. It's just that it's 2023 & I think that I would have found a sanic doodle joke much funnier back in 2013. Y'know, back when I was 13. Nowadays seeing that easter egg just made me feel like an aging fossil & I didn't wanna talk about that lmao.

Also ok so like Usagi Yojimbo from TMNT just decided he's gonna show up in this show & y'know what I'm cool with that. Wasn't expecting to be seeing that of all things. But I ain't complaining about TMNT stuff.

Also I'm glad this episode finally answered my burning question of what this show would look like while running on a PS2. (Also holy shit this one background specifically is so fucking good IM GONNA EAT THIS SHOWS ART DIRECTION ITS SO FUCKING GOOD AAAAAAAA)

Isaacula:

1-There's no way this can be healthy and i'm all here for it. <3 2-Isaac doesn't need nobody to dehumanize him, he does it all by himself. All he lives for is pleasing his Lord <3 3-Well okay this is extremly niche but in the context of the "Dracula was still Mathias before Lisa's death and he actually cared a lot about Isaac and saw a bit of himself in him and their relationship was somehow wholesome" idea... the heartbreaking drama of Mathias' fall, turning into Dracula who, out of madness driven by grief, no longer feels the same way about Isaac. He changed for the worst and Isaac lost his father figure... but still, he's his Lord, and he loves him. He will never abandon him, even if Dracula no longer cares about him... like he used to.

Hecula:

1-THE FUCKING TORTURE ??? PLEASE ??? EVEN WORSE THAN ISAACULA. HOLY SHIT. HECTOR DOES NOT LIKE WHAT DRACULA DOES TO HIM. And that's hot. <3 Give me that sweet sweet drama and pain. <3 2-Dracula using Hector as Lisa's replacement because he misses her so much and have the worst coping mechanisms ever like holy fuck dude <3 3-That one attack in CoD where he hugs you with his wings and drink you blood. <3

Macula:

1-HHHHHHHHHHHH "self love" and "self acceptance" and "accepting your fate even though you hate it" themes <3 The hate and disgust beetween the two (Mathias being mortified at his future self, Dracula being reminded of how he used to be, realising how low he has fallen, and absolutely hating it wich basically means hating him) that eventually lead to those themes <3 2-Selfcest but deeper. Hot. <3 3-Sex used as salvation. <3 (hate that i have to limit myself to just three things > :<)

And ofc, the best ship, Lenector:

1-Lenore's death scene. Her choosing to look at Hector instead of the sun when she dies (and the music was really emotional, really good). Too bad it wasn't as deserved as people seems to think > :< 2-Hector giving Lenore a piece of her own medicine by trapping her. Ok it served more as "protection" or whatever but at least she was terrified <3 Especially when Isaac arrived. Lol. Lmao. 3-Hector patronising Lenore. The sex jokes were big ew but him being sassy or standing up to her from time to time was nice... but it's also what gave me the false hope that he was playing her game to manipulate her and stab her in the back later, wich KINDA happened but definitely not in the way I wish it had. >:(

... honestly, if him and madara had been better at sharing responsibilities instead of izuna's only job being to see that his brother's orders were done, then he'd have leaned more to "i have to be the voice of reason and do the hard, necessary thing even against his will", and then he'd have tried to kill tobirama, but he was too used to madara not letting him have the last say or more than just a consulting position so then he was like "oh fuck it FINE we'll do what you want, especially because i also want". so like, that's good for tobirama... XD;; but it did lead to some guilt and self-recrimination in the following days because it was weak-willed of him. izuna knows a lot better than madara does how little they can afford mercy, because madara is a bulldozer of epic proportions who can afford the risk; Izuna is also very strong but he's still normal-strong, not mythical.

my izuna defines himself a lot by the roles he plays for other people, gives himself obligations based on those, and tries to dutifully ignore all the chafing and pain it causes him. (then he camouflages it by being a blithe, sarcastic adorable brat, so nobody notices, because he's not a complainer when it's something serious.) he has obligations as madara's adopted littermate to support him but isn't give the space to do it the way a real littermate would, he's the clan's second in command so he has responsibilities to the clan that sometimes clash with the risks madara wants to take, etc. his main responsibility is to neutralize tobirama and his secondary is to learn as much as he can about him so he can neutralize him, but then madara did the neutralizing and didn't let him finish tobirama off and it turns out izuna didn't know something as huge as his real gender. the first fic had him scrambling to keep up with all the different demands placed on him.

but also, when he was doing the thing with the hand. holy shit he wished it was madara's dick, because then they'd HAVE to keep tobi, and he had just discovered that hazy-eyed, sexually demanding and needy tobirama really did it for him. he does want to have sex with tobirama himself, a lot, but since he has placed hashi and tobi in the role of "maybe spouses one day" in his head he has precise Proper Ideas about the order of things, and the alpha and omega are the coupling that's important to seal the deal; the other combinations are just for fun. also he really really really wants some kind of mark of madara seeing him as his real littermate and not as a youger child/brother, so sharing an omega or even a beta with him is almost more about making sure madara is here and enjoying it, enjoying what izuna set up for him, than about taking care of his own dick. sex is fun but he can have it with anyone anytime, it's not meaningful on its own, but sharing someone with madara is an emotional milestone even if it doesn't lead to a wedding.

this was so damn close to what he secretly really really really wants, and yet it didn't matter and wouldn't happen again, so it was great but also quite emotionally painful. very bittersweet.

(rp): Drista!! I love this chaotic child and am looking forward to seeing the children bully each other lmao. I especially love the mythos around Creative mode, and that the most benevolent god on the Dream SMP is just as likely to ban you as hand you a shulker box lol.

I do wonder how in character cc!Tommy is going to be able to stay during this stream: on one hand he’s a master at staying in character even during lh moments, and on the other Exile arc is some Dark Shit and Dristas like what, 14?? Overall I expect this to be one of the lighter streams, with a smattering of moments where we remember that, oh right, Tommy’s pretty actively suicidal at this point and he sees this as one of his last hurrahs.

Speaking of our boy Tommy: it's very clear we are getting closer and closer to the infamous pillar. He switches rapidly between Fight and Fawn reflexes and has mostly internalized Dream’s treatment and conditions at this point. The one stand out moment being him calling out Dream killing Mexican Dream last stream, and pointing out he was changing his story even when Dream tried to lie and say he died of “a drug overdose [...] or natural causes”. I’m curious if Tommy is going to bring it up again, and even more curious if he eventually believes Dream about it; something to watch out for, for sure. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this moment of rebellion happened right after he had someone both stand up for him and spend time with him that wasn’t actively hostile or going to end (supposedly, at least by intention)

not as many as i had right after i read but i really had to go to bed so i couldn’t write them all up.....

also hey does this mean he doesn’t have to deal with the cureless poison anymore. i assumed that it would be cured in his eventual sexytimes with binghe but hmmm i guess not!

the point where i really lost it was when he realized he was disconnected from the system. i know now that it wasn’t permanent but that was just so interesting, how much he hates it and wants it gone. which makes sense! even though it has helped him get out of bad spots at times, it’s a sign that he’s not really from this world. now i’m just really curious what’s gonna happen to the system at the end of the novel. maybe it’ll shut off once he achieves the “goal” it’s seemed to have set for him and gets together with lbh?

also i’m glad that sqq seems to have matured a little bit in terms of his people skills / problem solving skills? though uh. remains to be seen how he’ll act in front of binghe when binghe realizes who he is

it also seems like i was completely wrong about sqq’s motivations for sacrificing himself lol. lot more selfish than i thought? but it makes sense! fun twist

mxtx sure likes to have her protagonists execute plots that they don’t tell the reader about until after they happen lol (i’m thinking of the golden core transfer)

i had a LOT of thoughts last night but now i’m pretty much just like. i really need to see where it goes before i make any judgements on bingqiu

rn i’m not a big fan because 1. sqq is so wildly uncomfortable (understandable lol, even if lbh thinks it’s just a dream) and 2. lbh is very obsessive and that’s not really my favorite trope. but like it’s obviously not meant to be a healthy relationship, at least definitely not right now, and i do like some good fucked up romance! i’m excited to see the developments where sqq realizes what his real feelings are

i’m also fairly neutral on binghe as a character atm. his main personality traits seem to be “obsessed with sqq” and “trying not to die from evil sword qi poisoning” and i don’t find that all that compelling? between him and lwj i have to say that mxtx’s love interest characters are not really my favorite, though i wouldn’t say i dislike either of them.

furthermore i’m slightly concerned with how lbh’s “i’m the main character and i get what i want” attitude is gonna affect the romance. i know there’s some dubconny stuff later which i can’t say i’m excited for but i am excited to see how binghe’s character is gonna develop in general

my aspirations for bingqiu is that they’re both able to eventually break free of the expectations of the system

because, look at this from sqq’s pov. there’s this ai in your head that has, for literal years, been steering you towards a romance that you (at least outwardly) don’t want. isn’t that fucking terrifying? i love it. the system (at least how i see it) has been bending the established plot of the world in order to make this happen. it’s like fate but you can see the gears turning.

and even if sqq does end up liking lbh back, can you imagine the existential crisis of like. wondering if he really CHOSE to get with binghe or if he was somehow compelled to by the system which acts based on binghe’s emotions?

i think that would be so interesting

however what i think is Actually going to happen (based on that one time when airplane was like “hey cucumber, uh, is lbh just a character to you or is there more...”) is that sqq is gonna realize that he’s had a bit of a crush on binghe since reading pidw and is only just now dealing with his internalized homophobia. so him getting together with binghe has less strings attached

i think there’s some opportunity here for a commentary on the soulmate trope? because svsss is just so steeped in themes about agency and fate. i think that would be really cool but we’ll have to see. i feel like the ending is gonna be simpler and happier than i want it to be but obviously i cannot make any judgements yet! i’m just having Thoughts :)

“Why are you here seok?” Jihoon asks tiredly as he holds the door open, rubbing his eye with the back of his hand.

“I wanted to talk to you.” Seokmin responds, stepping into the apartment without permission. Jihoon frowns, letting out a defeated sigh, “Yeah I’ll let you in seok. No need to ask or anything, it’s not like it’s three in the fucking morning.” 

“Is yn here?” He asks, completely ignoring what Jihoon said, to which Jihoon shakes his head no, “She slept over at her mom’s tonight, she has to help out at the restaurant tomorrow.” 

“I want to ask yn to be my girlfriend at the showcase.” Seokmin tells Jihoon as they sit down at the dining table, and Jihoon lets out a small chuckle. 

“Was wondering when you were gonna stop tiptoeing around it. I’m in.” Jihoon says and Seokmin lets out a relieved smile. 

“Really?” Seokmin asks and Jihoon nods with tired eyes, and Seokmin proceeds to let him know that the rest of the guys know of the idea.

“So, what’s the plan?”

“Is everyone having fun tonight?!” You yell into the mic, receiving loud cheers in response. You smile back at the rest of the band, and Seokmin shoots you finger guns. This results in a louder cheer making you laugh. 

“We’re so glad that you guys loved fallin’ flower! Woozi worked so hard on composing and producing the song, and we sure as hell spent a lot of time rehearsing it for you guys.” Jeonghan says and everyone cheers once again, chanting Jihoon’s name as well. 

“This has been one of our biggest releases so far, and all the love you’ve shown to Tsuki… it means a lot to us. Thank you.” Jihoon thanks, and he receives more chants of his name. 

“This has been a wonderful concert, thank you guys for giving Tsuki so much love. I promise our next comeback will be even better than fallin’ flower, I’ve already heard the sneak peek,” You put a finger to your lips to signal that it’s a secret, and everyone screams. You giggle before continuing, “I can’t wait to see you guys at the next concert-” 

You suddenly can’t see as a blindfold goes over your eyes, making you squeal in confusion. The cheers get louder and you struggle against whoever is tying the blindfold. “Shhh, everything will be alright. Don’t worry.” Jeonghan whispers in your ear, making you squeak.

“What’s going on?” You ask as you get lifted up, by who you assume to be Mingyu, making you squeak once again. “Where are you taking me Mingyu!?” Mingyu giggles in response, setting you down in a chair. 

“What’s going on?! Why are you guys being weird?!” You whine as Jun rubs your shoulders in an attempt to calm you down. “Don’t worry! You’re gonna love this!” Jihoon tells you and you bite the inside of your cheek nervously. 

There’s a hush over the crowd and you take that chance to yell, “The hell is going ON!” making the crowd laugh and the guys chuckle beside you, nudging you a bit. There’s a hush over the crowd once again, and you hear Seokmin’s guitar begin to play.

“Is Seokmin not beside me?” You whisper to whoever is on your right.

“No.”

“Okay, good to know.” 

You recognize the tune after a second, and feel your heart warm. It’s one of your favorite songs, True Colors by Cyndi Lauper. The blindfold gets untied, and you blink a few times, only to realize that the fans' lightsticks are now rainbow. You gasp slightly at the beautiful sight, raising your hand to cover your mouth.

Seokmin is standing in the middle of the stage, the light on him, and your eyes start to water at the sight. The boys squeal quietly beside you, Jeonghan and Mingyu shaking each other excitedly. While Jun is holding a rainbow lightstick himself, shaking it around wildly. 

“You with the sad eyes…” You look back up at Seokmin, who has his eyes closed as he strums the simple tune. His voice is like honey, sweet, and soft. You only hear his voice occasionally, when he’s cooking ramen, or when you sneak into the studio to hear his background vocals, so hearing it in all its glory is beautiful. 

“Don’t be discouraged, oh I realize, it’s hard to take courage.” He opens his eyes to look out among the crowd, letting out a small smile.

“In a world full of people, you can lose sight of it all. The darkness inside you, can make you feel so strong.” You look down as tears leave your eyes, and Jihoon pats your back to try and offer comfort.

“I’m gonna beat him up after this.” You whisper with a small sniffle, making Jun giggle a bit. 

“Show me a smile, then. Don’t be unhappy, can’t remember when I last saw you laughing.” Seokmin sings, he’s currently shitting bricks right now, but it doesn’t show in his voice.

“This world makes you crazy, and you’ve taken all you can bear. Just call me up, cause I will always be there.” He wonders what you’re thinking as he sings, feeling his heartbeat really hard against his chest. He takes a deep, shaky breath, before beginning again.

“And I see your true colors, shining through. I see your true colors,” Seokmin stops strumming for a moment, allowing you to only hear your rapid heartbeat. He takes the microphone off the stand, turning to face you, letting out a nervous laugh once he takes notice of your tears.

He walks over to you, and you squeeze your fists to your side, feeling your nails dig into your palm as he now stands right in front of you. The boys are silently quaking to your right, holding their phones up to take a video.

“And that’s why I love you.” 

The crowd lets out a small collective gasp after he sings the line, and you look down as more tears run down your cheeks. You let out an embarrassed chuckle, looking back up at him. Mingyu puts on his guitar, continuing the tune now that Seokmin is holding the microphone. Jihoon hands you an extra mic, and you lift it up to your mouth.

“So don’t be afraid..” Seokmin smiles at you, the nervousness washing away as you sing back to him.

“To let them show,” Seokmin lifts up his microphone so that you two can harmonize, “Your true colors, true colors, are beautiful…” 

You smile as another tear falls from your eye, and he lifts up a hand to brush it away with his thumb, making the crowd let out a small cheer. 

“Like a rainbow.” You both smile at each other as Mingyu softly strums the last note. 

“Yn, will you be my girlfriend?” Seokmin asks you and you giggle, standing up from the chair. You go onto your tiptoes and wrap your arms around the back of his neck, you lean in and softly press your lips to his as your answer. 

The crowd erupts in a deafening cheer, followed by Jun screaming, “HOLY FUCKING SHIT!” Mingyu, Jeonghan and Jun huddle into a circle while jumping, and do a victory screech. Jihoon smiles from the side, clapping his hands softly.

Somehow, you both can’t hear the noise. Your senses only focused on each other as you both pull away with shy smiles and cheeks that are now tinged a pretty shade of pink. He brushes his nose against yours and you laugh as he lays a small kiss on the tip of it. 

“I love you.” He whispers against your lips and you smile.

“I love you too, Seokmin.”
