I’m still playing through the Requiem event in F/GO, but I what I wish the event did was let us actually say to Erice “We have a shitton of Servants here in Chaldea because we’re in an apocalyptic crisis situation and it’s all hands on deck, Guda is not just summoning Heroic Spirits for shits and giggles”. Because I think that’s the most frustrating part of Erice’s edgelord teen thing for most of the event, is not being able to shake her bad behavior out of her by going “Hey kiddo, do you wanna hear about the human incineration and planet bleaching incidents, all the loved ones we lost, and just how fucked us Chaldea folks are? : D”.

I get why Erice thinks the way she does - she’s a depressed teen who grew up without a Servant in a city where everybody else has Servants, she idolized HSs, her relation to a death goddess means she probably subconsciously views HSs as dead who should not be disturbed, and by all accounts she genuinely doesn’t know that Chaldea has to fight world-ending eldritch abominations on the regular and that we kinda need our giant army of HSs - but like. It’s frustrating the game only have Mash read off the boilerplate mission statement, something that Erice can very easily blow off as a load of hot air, rather than saying “we use servants because almost all our other coworkers got exploded and the world got set on fire/our home base got frozed and the world got turned to white stuff with weirdo timelines stapled on top”. Like, this is kind of important plot context, the game should let us say this!

going through my drafts and came upon my old crackpot theory that while the events of htn are set before ntn, gideon's narration is actually set after atn, like harrow somehow forgets the events of htn or maybe just asks what it was like for gideon right after the lobotomy and the series ends with gideon saying "well, God stood in your doorway and said, 'You've thrown up again, Harrowhark...'"

I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler to say that Acheron is an Emanator of Nihility. I also believe that Jing Yuan is said to be an Emanator of the Hunt bc he’s a Arbiter-General. People have theorized that Sampo is an Emanator of Elation and March is an Emanator of Remembrace (though I personally like the March is Idrila theory).

the only problem is that Herta, canonically an Emanator of Erudition, gets a score of 4. But maybe that can be chalked up to how the Herta we play as isn’t her actual body.

long story short, Pearl, the OG protecter first split tm turned big evil superqueen. Because she literally beat people up irl for fun, she was banished to the bottom of a huge ocean in Nogard (heasspade dark world), known as the Endless Abyss. Which was totally kinda unfair because she was literally doing what she was born to do and trying to protect us from the people who hurt us, but those people where not available so she just took it out on random people (and alters inspace). UM so it had been like 10 years so someone had the bright idea to check on her. Turns out it was kinda unfair to banish her so

FCL is a book that should have been light and fun about two friends reuniting. But instead they went with what they did.

Yes! Exactly! I was so excited when they first announced FCL, I was thinking a cute fun book with friends on a road trip going down memory lane, maybe some shenanigans sandwiched between friends falling in love story. I saw spoilers on what the love interest looked like and I fell in love with Blake's sprites...and then pb released the trailer to FCL and dashed all my hopes to hell and back lol

I don't want a book about women being pitted against each other for the attentions of a guy (or in wlw case, a probably shitty attempt to mask a male LI with she/her pronouns). And the mc is suppose to be in her 30s??? Heck it sounds like the HSS and HSS:CA mcs are more mature than FCL!

my HSR theory about warp jumps and the timeline

So I was doing some thinking recently (read: last night in bed) and...I came up with some interesting ideas. And it has to do with the warp jumps. Also, Spoilers, but that should be obvious.

We know that warp jumps are basically like going through space tunnels of sorts- you go in one end and end up somewhere else at the other. We also know the train can't jump near another planet, and I assume it works kind of like the Dinosaur Train from the show of the same name. Where you travel for a bit, but to get somewhere else you go through a tunnel.

Now for timelines.

Average stops of the Express are 7 days per destination. At the Herta Space Station, the crew arrives presumably the day the Trailblazer wakes up. Within the same day, said Trailblazer manages to make some friends, defeat a giant monster, and then get knocked out for another day. I'm guessing the Express at least sticks around, to at least help clean up a little (there's a quest where you can log photos of the Express for compensation, and since the guy put together a list of several items already I'm guessing that happens towards the end of the stay). So let's asume the 7-day stop is normal. Plus, most medical professionals don't recommend immediately setting off on adventures right after something ike the Stelleron in your chest going haywire and having a guy knock you out for safety. So let's assume they stay at the HSS for a week, at the least.

Later on, March talks about how the Trailblzer is in charge of washing the coffee cups this week. And in Belebog, interacting with the luggage outside the Overworld hotel says "as a member of the Express, you know the importance of keeping luggage safe" or whatever. You have a suspicious amount of loyalty to the Express, and I'm not entirely convinced that's just your overcreative mind (cough cough hotel devil cough cough) being creative. And surely the Express won't warp jump twice in a row, it seems like it takes a bit of prep and timing and stuff. At any rate, time has definitely passed between Belebog and the Loufu.

So here's where my theory comes in.

We know that the tunnels are not like those in the show Dinosaur Train (hey look it's a good example of something simillar alright-). The tunnels in the show have a little bit inside them, like a normal tunnel, and they're not actually instant. We've seen the inside of tunnels and the outside of long tunnels. The warp jumps can't really be like this, because it's short enough that someone sitting on a couch wouldn't have too much reason to get up. And stuff on shelves and stuff like the books in the archives or the chess table seem to only shift slightly, instead of many tremors rocking them slowly off their positions.

So the warp jump is instant. And like a quick bout of turbulence, if March falling is anything to go by. So where does the time come in, because surely they don't go on and adventure, come back, maybe sleep one night in their beds, then instantly go off for another week of adventure. That'd cause burnout. And make having decorated rooms and whatever pointless. And it's also just impractical- no time to log things, clean and sharpen weapens, etc. But it's not too long a period, because you're still considered a newbie to the crew through the Jurilo-VI stuff.

My guess is there's a day or two in between leaving a planet and finding a place to warp jump from. It's probably a huge shift of energy and sending a planet off its gravitational path is never a good idea. So the Express has to travel otu to the literal middle of nowhere to warp jump. When they exit, they're able to get a lot closer to their destination, but there's still at least a couple of hours before they actually are able to dock. It's like with space rockets and space stations iRL- before any propulsion towards Earth can happen, the vehicle has to move away from the space station so that it doesn't send the station off-course or something.

So what's the timeline?

A week at the Herta Space Station, I'd give three days at the least Half a day to a day traveling out to the warp point. They hit the ice planet maybe around a noon hour, disembark (no idea how long that takes or hwo that happens), arrive in Belebog in the afternoon, explore a bit, then go to sleep. The next day, they have the whole thing and spend the next couple of nights in the underworld hotel and defeating the Stellaron.

Within a five-day period (they stay one more night at the Overworld hotel) they're back on the Express. They presumably decide where to go next the day after they return to the Express (because Dan has his nightmare on the Express), but I imagine they have anywhere from a few days to a week before they actually get to the Loufu. (I don't know how March calmed down so fast between talking to Dan and voting though...)

So in short: the Trailblazer has been part of the Nameless for around two weeks, take or give anywhere from that to a solid month. This allows plenty of time to settle in, rest between adventures (not every planet has nice hotels to stay in I reckon), enjoy a nice breakfast with the Astral Express family and get yelled at by Pom-Pom for not eating immediately, etc. Trains also have to travel some distance- surely it's not all warp jumps and long stop periods, trains runnign passanger routes tend to run for at least a bit before stopping at a station.

and wow did not expect this to be this long and I'm sure there's more info I missed and stuff, but that's my theory. I guess what me know what ya'll think. Apologies if it sounds a bit far-winded, it's a very late hour and I am definitely not awake but I had to get it out because it felt like something discussion worthy.

Immortal Desires: Mini Review chapter 1&2

Immortal Desires was actually good, the story is well paced and engaging. It's tropey as hell but I can accept that because so far I don't think the story is too predictable.

Something happened that I was like woah PB really went there because they always want these bad boys that wouldn't hurt a fly but this bad boy hurt the fly and then some.

(I know it's gender customisable li, but I'm just writing from the how I'm experiencing the story so I will use he him pronouns)

BTW this is not a threesome it's something infinitely less fun and quite childish bordering on cringe depending on who you ask.

I haven't decided if I'm team Cas or Gabe... I'm think maybe Cass but also Gabe has potential to not be such a golden boy (I don't mind golden boys just as long as they have have depth or are cute). I will romance them both till the bitter and because that just the type of hoe I am.

I went with the male versions of both li as usual coz I like what I like but I might switch Gabe to the female version idk (probably not). They where all pretty good looking, both male and female but for moi Asian male Cass takes the cake as far as being extra good looking imo (my thirst fo him runs deep).

I like the rivalry between the two li who both come one pretty strong from the get. Which could be off putting to some but I don't mind it coz it's only in the first chapter hope the rest of the book isn't 99% love rivalry and 1% plot but I trust the writters.

The story is not HSS level of teenage wholesomeness it's more like buffy or vampire diaries with teenagers who have a long leash of freedom and not like Mtfl where the parents are all up in their business. So pretty much like if blood bound and it lives had a baby.

The MC is pretty cool not an annoying pushover like you see in the a lot of vampire stories. Also the outfit you pick at the beginning is Team Cas or Gabe and they will comment on it if it corresponds to their style. I chose team Cas before I even knew that was going to happen. I like it pb throws in little things like that.

I have high hopes for this to be a series I think it has the potential to be a fandom favourite and I like that it has more than one li and they are gender customisable as well as the mc not being gender locked. I like that it takes risks and pushes the Li in a less righteous good way. I'm not disappointed but its still early days and PB has ruined books with more potential than this (NB).
