DUTIFUL ADEPTUS

synopsis: you're the adeptus created by Morax to watch over Liyue alongside Adeptus Xiao in his absence. When he comes back in his mortal form, he makes sure to tell you to rest  wc: 893 warnings!: none

Being an adeptus was nothing to scoff at. Especially if that adeptus was created by Morax himself

He created you in his image; flowing dark hair with golden tips, sharp golden eyes with a dragon-like glow, brown and golden horns, and the strength to subdue a hundred monsters at a time

He had created you from cor lapis for strength, a silk flower for elegance, and a glaze lilly for wisdom

You were created in the adult image and therefore had no childhood

Your days were spent training with Morax as he taught you the ways of martial prowess and of poetry, song, and story

He always taught you to remain sharp in all aspects of life Additionally, he set you to lead the Yakshas as you were the strongest

You spent your days among the other Yakshas and often found yourself receiving gifts of intricately embroidered Hanfu in varying shades of gold from Menogias

In fact, many temples that were erected in Liyue in your honor have art that depicts you wearing a golden Hanfu

Now, when Morax had to fight in the Archon War, you were left behind watching over the people of Liyue and defending them from such harm

This caused the people of Liyue to see you as a protector and they began to erect temples in your honor and give offerings which in turn, made you stronger

When the war ended, Morax went to rule Liyue from afar, visiting once a year on the rite of Descension

Xiao is a different story, after his fellow Yakshas died from their karma, he tended to distance himself and protect Liyue from afar

Your work was hard. You constantly circled the entirety of Liyue like the sun ensuring that no monsters approached the city, the temples dedicated to the adepti were not desecrated, visiting Cloud Retainer, Mountain Shaper, and Moon Carver

You also visited Ganyu on a weekly basis to ensure that she was doing well working among the humans, watching Gaming as he preformed his Wushou dances, looking out for YaoYao whenever you saw her wandering the wilds, bringing gifts for Shenhe, conversing with Ningguang, talking with Beidou at the wharf, and so on

Basically, you never had time for yourself and you became even more busy when the Traveler came to Liyue

When the whole fiasco was settled Morax or Zhongli came to visit you in your abode

It was the first time you had seen your master face to face for a proper cup of tea and a conversation

It felt like reuniting with a father

"My dear, how have you been?" he asked over the steaming cup of tea. The golden sandbearer trees swayed in the wind as Tubby bubbled in the background  "I have been well master, Liyue prospers every day under my protection" you answer in a serious manner   He sighed slightly and placed his gloved hand on top of yours "Have you been taking some time for yourself?"  "I'm afraid I cannot, master. Even now I am restless."   He smiled slightly and squeezed your hand"It is good that you always remain diligent but you must learn to rest"  "As an adeptus I don't need to rest--"   "You do. You will exhibit signs of mental strain, my dear. And you needn't worry. Xiao will always be there to look after Liyue. You do trust him do you not?"   "I do but..."   "Then you will have no problem leaving Liyue in his hands whilst you rest for a moment" he gave you a sincere smile  "...Alright. As you say" 

Zhongli finally convinces you to take some time for yourself and mingle with the people of Liyue in a bit of a disguised form

You retract your horns and change your Hanfu to sometime a little less God-like

You found it rather calming to walk among the people that you spend your days protecting

Both you and Xiao fell into a rhythm where you protect the areas surrounding the cities and villages and he deals with the remaining land

Sometimes you can find him on the roof of Wanshu in and he always sits up a little straighter when you approach with a plate of almond tofu

"Adeptus Xiao, how have you been?" you ask as you hand him a pair of chopsticks "...I've been well" he says shortly as he accepts them "Has Zhongli visited you recently? I've seen him around the harbor often" "He has" Xiao responded as he chewed on the almond tofu, he's never much of a talker "Are you attending this years Lantern Rite? Or will you watch from afar?" "I'll be watching from afar" "Then will you...release a kite with me? I know it may sound stupid...but it makes those little humans so happy...it must be quite enjoyable" you said as you munched on a bite of the almond tofu "...sure" you could've sworn he smiled a little

When you see Xiao outside the city, you take walks with him through the Huaguang Stone Forest or through Dihua Marsh

Sometimes you accompany him on the roof of Wangshu Inn and show him how to take pictures of the sunset with the Kamera

Once a month, Zhongli, Xiao, and You have a dinner together in your abode. Placing your trust in the humans to protect their own kind for the night

(Reader is a child dragon adeptus and this takes place after Archon War)

Zhongli had taken you in after you were abandoned by your birth parents as they feared you as a child dragon adeptus

Originally, he didn't know what to do with little you so he brought you to Cloud Retainer who suggested that he raise you

(She was feeling a little proud of herself after seeing how Shenhe and Ganyu turned out)

At first he was awkward since he didn't know how to raise a child but after reading every child-raising manual Teyvat he began to get the hang of it

He would take you out on walks and point to different statues and landmarks and explain how the God of Geo sculpted them

Of course at one point he would reveal his true identity to you but only when you're older

He get's all your clothes custom made and they match his with the brown and gold color scheme and the dragon scale decal in certain spots (guys Zhongli is not broke he just forgets to carry his wallet)

He brings you to the Lantern Rite and releases a lantern with you or he helped you make a kite that resembled his little meteor or a dragon that resembled him

He also gets you a plush that looks like little dragon Zhongli

When your horns are growing in and it becomes painful, Zhongli soothes you with old folktales, songs and medicine from Bubu pharmacy

Ties Qingxin and Glaze Lilies into your hair around your horns to make you feel less insecure about them

Cloud Retainer favors you and shows you all her new mechanics

Sometimes you go off to work with Zhongli and Hu Tao shows you how the funeral home works (much to his dismay)

When you have trouble sleeping Zhongli shifts into his dragon form and lets you lay with him hugging his fluffy tail knowing it brings you great comfort

As a shrine maiden and a kitsune yokai, it was your duty to tend to the sacred sakura as seen fit

During your time at the Fortress, you learned how to keep order within the rowdy prisoners, guard cells, and monitor the prisoners during their work hours

Towards the middle of your program, your instructors had been regularly congratulating you on how you've excelled during the duration of the program

Naturally, these words managed to reach Wriothesley who had met you and your fellow trainee's when the program began

He asked to see you and offered you a position to work at one of the top Gaurdes once you graduated from the program, and you, excited to move up in the world, accepted his offer

Once you graduated at the top of the program, you immediately moved to the fortress as one of the top Gaurdes

Of course, they didn't accept you in a warmhearted fashion since you were young and inexperienced which made you want to step up and prove to them that you were able to work on their level

You were able to move through the ranks quickly. Earning the favor and respect of your fellow Gaurdes and even the prisoners

As usual, Wriothesley heard of your endeavors and offered you a spot to work closely with him. As his right hand.

Your uniform changed drastically when you changed positions. It changed from a dark red and dark grey uniform to a black and gold uniform

It consisted of a black overcoat worn on the shoulders, a black waistcoat with gold detailing, a puffy white blouse underneath, black pants with gold detailing by the seams, and black boots.

You carried a rapier sword by your side as a show of your position in Meropide

In addition, you also wore a small broach that was similar to the one that Wriothesley wore with the wolf emblem

When you first arrived, you brought in exotic tea leaves from Sumeru, Liyue, and Inazuma as a gift of thanks for bringing you in as his right-hand

You handled a lot of arrests, but because of your position, you didn't handle your day-to-day arrests of treasure hoarders and pickpockets stupid enough to get caught

No, you handled the high-intensity arrests

Serial killers, heavily armed robbers, criminals at the top of Fontaine's wanted list

Wriothesley was very proud of your work and how you handled yourself considering how dangerous your job was

He decided to make you his heir

After he made his decision, your work became more intense

He felt the need to train you to the highest extent to ensure that you would survive

He began to show you secrets like the abandoned civilization of ships under Fontaine's seas

Far into your training, he showed you the sluice gate where the Primordial Sea was being held back. His main concern was how you would handle the emergency of the sluice gate opening when you were in leadership

Gojo had assigned Nanami to be your mentor in attempt to get Nanami to work more with the students

Honesty, he thought that you and Nanami were somewhat similar, calm and collected but slightly classy

I mean, even your uniform looked like what he wore. Your uniform was a dress shirt, suspenders, shoulder holsters for you handguns, dress pants, and Louboutin dress shoes (that you had bought with Gojo's card)

You had just finished up your mission at an abandoned warehouse and as the multitude of curses faded away after exorcism, you placed your sniper rifle in your case and your handheld gun in your shoulder holster. Closing the clasps on your rifle case you stood up holding the case and adjusting the shoulder holster.

Nanami stood to the side wiping his hands on a handkerchief of any blood that the curses spewed

"Nanamin!" you called out "are you ready to leave? We've cleared the area of any curses"

"Yes. We're leaving now" he answered shortly as he turned around. He placed his cursed tool on the back of his shoulder holster

You followed after him carrying your rifle case out of the dark warehouse

Nanami walked on the street side of the sidewalk and you walked on the building side

You squinted as your eyes adjusted to the light

"It's sunset already" you stared up at the sun with a smile "how pretty" you walked next to Nanami as you looked at how the golden glow rested on buildings

You turned to a window that so happened to be a bakery and you saw how the sunset softened your features and how Nanami's sharp features were highlighted by the sunlight in certain places

"Do you wish to go in there?" His deep voice asked, snapping you out of your thoughts

"Oh um...I don't wish to trouble you" you turned away from the bakery

"No matter, If your hungry then we can eat...you had a harsh mission today so it's best if you ate" he opened the door to the bakery with a ding!

You followed after him unsure of what to say

The girl at the counter greeted in a cheery manner

"Hello! You're back again!" she smiled (IT'S THE BAKERY GIRL FROM THE MANGA!!)

"Pick what you want" he looked over at you

You hesitated slightly unsure of letting your mentor spend his money on you

A young woman with short red hair sat behind the counter shuffling through records

"Oh, y/n! You're back"

"Yea, do you have any new Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra?"

"Yeah, we just got Songs For Swingin' Lovers a few days ago. Should be in the back. A couple of Sade came in as well!"

"Thanks!" you called as you walked towards the section she pointed to

"Do you come here often?" Nanami asked

"I do! I really like vinyl...y'see I collect 'em. I think my first was a Beatles record...I got it for Christmas when I was...seven? Eight? I dunno, but I also got a record player the next year, so I started collecting" you rambled on as you went through the Jazz C-D box looking for a Dean Martin record that you could add to your collection

"You collect them hm?"

"Yeah! I wanna own every album from every one of my favorites one day"

"...Who are your favorites?" Nanami had begun to go through a Crooners Classics G-H box

"Oh gosh, well I love Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, ect. The classics y'know? I really like jazz...but lately, I've been into Neo-Soul...I'm thinking that this summer can be the Neo-Soul Summer 'cause during the winter I listened to a lot of Jazz...." you trained off "...uhm...am I talking too much?"

"Don't worry about it"

You nodded slightly with a small smile "Okay um...have you listened to Sade before?" you walked over to the section where Sade's records were located

"I have not" he turned towards you as you shuffled through a box

"Here we go..." you pulled out a record and handed it to him

"This one is Diamond Life released in 1984 it's uh...nine songs...one of my favorite albums"

"Mhm.." he turned the record over and read the list of songs

"My favorite time to listen to Sade is in the evening...it really fits the atmosphere...and here we go!" you picked up the Frank Sinatra record to buy for yourself

"'Kay...I'm gonna get this one...do you wanna get that record?"

He nodded slowly "Yes, why not"

"Great!" you took the record from him

"I'll get them this time since you covered our food"

"y/n I am--"

"--my mentor I know. But this is my thank you for being a really good mentor to me. Uhm...you keep me...down to Earth in a way? It's nice having a level-headed mentor...in comparison to Gojo...who's head seem to be everywhere but his neck!" you walked to the counter and placed the records on the counter and paid for them

When you exited the store with Nanami you handed him the record

"Here you go Nanamin!" You handed him the Sade record "I hope you enjoy it!"

"Thank you, y/n" he accepted the record you handed to him "you didn't have to do that, you know"

"Oh I know! But like I said, I'm thankful for having a mentor who's head is screwed on straight" you smiled as you talked to him

He huffed out a small laugh at your statement

"While we're on the topic of thanks, I've been meaning to thank you properly for the sourdough starter. I wasn't expecting it as a gift but it was a wonderful one. How did you know?"

"Gojo-sensei runs his mouth a lot"

"That he does"

"My mom also likes bread and...she has a starter to she taught me how to make one. I think that people who like bread should make their own! 'Cause then, they can have it whenever they want. Plus it's nice to smell the bread you make when I wake up on Sunday"

He smiled "I'm glad. You mentioned your first record was the Beatles, yes? How did you go from that to Jazz?"

"Wellll the Beatles is considered Madchester which really isn't my type of music so! I began experimenting and found Jazz! My parents took me to a Jazz club and I swear I spiraled from there! I even began to learn the saxophone!"

"The saxophone you say?"

"Yeah! Sometimes I play at night since it's the only thing keeping me sane at this point...curse-killing really puts a strain on the physical body and practicing an instrument helps...it really does"

"You're the one playing at night..."

"...you can hear it..? I thought you didn't stay on campus?"

"I had to stay late one night to file a mission report that I had been holding off on"

"Well, I hope it wasn't a bother..."

"Of course not, Desmond Blue by Paul Desmond is never a bother"

"Oh you knew the song!"

"You play quite well it's easy to recognize"

"Thank's Nanamin!" you smiled up at him

He returned your smile slightly and pat your back as you both walked back to Jujutsu Tech

"Now, tell me more about the songs you know..."

She had ignored you at first because she thought you were a spy of sorts of her grandmother

10:00 AM - NEW YORK CITY - THE PLAZA HOTEL (NEW YORK STATE, USA)

y/n sat on a chair in her hotel room at the Plaza Hotel in New York City

She had just finished up her MIUMIU photo shoot the previous day and was relaxing, enjoying her Belgian Waffle from room service, and watching a new episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians as her phone rang

She reached over to the chair next to her and checked the screen to see her manager calling

She paused the TV as she answered the call

"Hello?" she said, food still in her mouth

"y/n? Hello! How are you?" her manager - Kyube - asked

"I'm doing fine...enjoying the hotels room service while I can..what's up?"

"Have you checked your email yet?"

"Uhh which one? I have like 7 different accounts" she picked a strawberry from her plate

"The one where your audition results come through? Did you check it?"

"I mean I would if I could find my computer"

"Just do it on your phone"

"But I'm on call with you?"

"I'll tell you then. The role you auditioned for in Jujutsu Kaisen?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"You got the part! You'll need to head to JFK immediately. Like today. I already bought your plane tickets and your flight is red-eye. I know it's ten in the morning but since you tend to wait until the last minute to pack but please do it now"

"Twin you can drop this all on me at once"

"I just did! You'll need to leave by 8 or 9 so start getting ready by one in the afternoon. Your flight will take you to San Francisco for a layover and then over the Pacific to Japan"

"Ooookay..so 17 hours?" y/n said as she yanked her pink suitcases out of the closet

"That's right! Oh, and I'll be meeting you at the gate at SFO when you land"

"Okay, thanks for letting me know" y/n placed her Hermes shopping bags on the bed and began to take the boxes out leaving them unopened and carefully placing them in her suitcases

9:00 PM - JOHN F. KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - NEW YORK CITY (NEW YORK STATE, USA)

y/n waited by her gate after making it through the nightmare of security and baggage check

She tugged on her sweatshirt and sweatpants combo each with the Yankee logo. Naturally, she choose the most comfortable outfit for a 17 hour flight

Lowering her Yankees cap down on her head to avoid getting noticed as she ate her donuts from Dunkin'

"Gate 34, now boarding. Repeat: Gate 34, now boarding. Please proceed to Gate 34 should it be your designated gate" the announcement came from the loudspeaker and y/n wiped her mouth and threw out any trash in the nearby trashcan and she picked up her travel bag and walked to the gate

"Any passengers now boarding first class line up at the checkpoint. Repeat: Any passengers now boarding first class please line up at the checkpoint"

y/n moved over to the checkpoint and handed the flight attendant her boarding pass

The woman's eyes widened slightly as she saw who's name was on the boarding pass and y/n smiled slightly albeit awkwardly

"I'm a huge fan!" the woman whispered as she let y/n onto the plane

y/n quickly found her spot in first class and tossed her bag down and sunk into the plush chair as people began to board the plane

Before she fell asleep, a Twitter notification hit her phone but she was too lazy to check it, opting to sleep instead

9:00 PM (WESTERN TIME) - SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - SAN FRANCISCO (CALIFORNIA, USA)

y/n yawened as she got off the plane and looked around for her manager

"She should be here..." y/n muttered under her breath "hmmm...ah! There she is"

Kyube was sitting to the side in the lounge area typing away at her computer which was covered in NewJeans and Twice stickers that y/n had given her

"Kyu!" y/n called out as she walked to her manager

Kyube looked up at the sound of the girls voice "y/n! Hi love, how are you?" Kyube stood up to hug the girl. y/n was shorter than Kyube...probably since Kyube never left the house without her heels

Her manager was very beautiful and a former actress, but a past accident didn't allow her to return to her career

"I'm good, how are you?" y/n looked up at Kyube

"I'm doing fine, honey. Are you hungry? Our flight for Japan leaves in about an hour and a half, would you like to go eat?"

"Yes please"

"Alright then"

10:30 PM (WESTERN TIME) - SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - SAN FRANCISCO (CALIFORNIA, USA)

"Gate 5 now boarding. Repeat: Gate 5 is now boarding. Please proceed to Gate 5 should it be your designated gate"

y/n looked up from her finished plate as the announcement

"There we go!" Kyube stood up and took their plates to the counter

"On your feet, y/n. Time to go"

"Any passengers now boarding first class line up at the checkpoint. Repeat: Any passengers now boarding first class please line up at the checkpoint"

y/n walked to the checkpoint with her manager and Kyube handed in their boarding passes

They made their way into first class and y/n practically lunged for the comfortable seat, ready to sleep again

She put her headphones on and scrolled through the artists that she followed on Spotify to find one to fall asleep to

NOW PLAYING: ICHIKO AOBA ON SHUFFLE

She kept her eyes on the leaving city as they began to fly over the Pacific ocean

2:30 PM (ASIA TIME) - HANEDA AIRPORT - HANEDAKUKO, OTA CITY, TOKYO METROPOLITAN PREFECTURE (JAPAN)

y/n woke up to someone gently patting her arm

"y/n? y/n the plane is landing...time to wake up" Kyube moved her hand to gently pat the girls hair

"mmmm..." y/n rubbed at her eyes as she slowly opened the window and squinted her eyes to adjust to the light

Below them, Japan was coming closer and closer to the plane as it began the descent

"What time is it?" she said groggily as the plane jolted from it's landing

"2:30 pm" Kyube said as the plane slowed to a stop and the post-flight announcement came onto the loudspeaker

"C'mon honey, time to go" Kyube held her hand out for y/n to take and y/n did so hauling herself to her feet

The duo walked out of the plane and into Haneda Airport

"Are you hungry? I want to get a coffee" Kyube said as they walked deeper into the airport

"Yeah can we go to Dunkin?" y/n looked up at her manager

"Sure, but we need to get our bags first"

"'Kay"

The duo went to the baggage claim carousels and y/n placed her hands on her knees staring intently at the suitcases went by. It was a little impossible to miss her pink suitcase among the darker colored suitcases but it never hurt to be careful

Once y/n's suitcases came down the carousel, she hauled them off albeit clumsy and helped Kyube get her suitcases which were way heaver and larger than y/n's

"What on Earth do you have in those?"

"Shoes"

"Good grief"

Once they got out of the baggage claim area, they made their way to the food court to buy coffee for Kyube and donuts for y/n

"Kyube pleeeeaaasseeee!!!! pleasepleasepleaseplease!"

"No, you are getting one donut and that's it. Donuts and Tanghulu isn't a meal. You want strawberries? We'll get you a fruit bowl, but no donuts and Tanghulu together"

"Please...? I promise I won't wander around unknown areas or talk to strangers again!"

"My words are final"

"Aww man. But I'll take you up on that fruit bowl"

Kyube and y/n sat at a table in the food court. Kyube was working on y/n's upcoming schedule for and y/n was posting her dumb shit on twitter

y/n placed her phone down as she poked a piece of cantaloupe with her fork and looked to the side but she spotted two familiar people a few tables away

"Hey...Kyube?"

"Yes?"

"Who're they? They look familiar" y/n pointed a thumb to the somewhat familiar duo

Kyube looked in the direction that y/n was pointing in and squinted her eyes from behind her sharp rectangular glasses (the bayonetta glasses)

"Thats Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru...you've been in a movie with Geto once, you were young though"

"Huh...are they filming Jujutsu Kaisen too?"

"I can't tell you that"

y/n picked up her phone to scroll through twitter again and decided to eat her donut in three bites. Her eyebrows furrowed as she saw a tweet from a familiar name

y/n snickered and looked over her shoulder at Gojo and Geto. The former had moved his sunglasses onto his forehead and was gaping at his phone

'pretend like you've got no idea' she mouthed to Geto who nodded

"y/n please do not cause problems" Kyube scolded

"Alright...y/n, we need to leave now to get to the hotel in time"

"Okay" y/n stood up and threw out the now empty cup that once held fruit and the bag from the donut

She followed Kyube out of the airport and passed the table that Gojo and Geto were out giving the duo a shit-eating grin

Gojo playfully stuck his toungue out at her and she returned the gesture in the same playful manner

"Come along y/n" Kyube beckoned the girl "Our car will be here shortly"

"Coming!"
