Hardboiled #10-25 (1990-98) cover artwork by Bruce Timm
Interview from Cool Stuff Magazine #1 (1995):
Gary Lovisi: Much of your work is characterized by raw, intense energy and action, or beautiful women in stylish, dangerous settings. Some is obviously influenced by the pulps.
Bruce Timm: I’m big pulp fan, have been since the early 70s, when I started reading Doc Savage and Avenger reprints. I can’t really say how they’ve influenced my artwork much, except when doing pulp-homage stuff like the Bob Price books. But I do sometimes wish I was born decades earlier so I could have worked for some of the old pulps, which was why it was so much fun doing the Price stuff, and the «mock 50s» paperback covers for your Gryphon Books.
The hero pulps — Doc Savage, The Spider, The Shadow, etc — did have a big impact on my approach to the Batman cartoons. It’s something I tried to inject into the show from early on, the atmosphere, danger and illicit excitement, and especially that Norvell Page-type feeling of impending doom — the «doomed city» mood. It’s also why I set the sense in a timeless, 40s-styled world of big cars, padded shoulders, gangsters, shadowy streets, etc. I only wish we’d gone farther with it.
For instance, my original version of Batman himself was actually close to the Shadow: rarely seen close-up, speaking in short, clipped phrases, more mysterious, literally. I wanted to play him cold and remote, almost unhuman. But the network and our various story editors would have none of that!  «We need to humanize him», «He needs to have a sense of humor», «We need to more about Bruce Wayne, the person», etc! Whereas I could care less about Bruce Wayne! He’s much more fascinating if you don’t know what he’s thinking, or what drives him.
A few «Shadowy» touches did survive. Batman is rarely seen be the public, almost never on TV. Even when dealing with the police, he’s usually off in shadows conferring with Commissioner Gordon only. And when he’s in the Batcave, he’s almost always in costume. My way of saying he’s Batman, not the other guy, not Bruce Wayne. Like Lamon Cranston, his true, «legal» identity is a facade.
I’ d love to do straight-ahead pulp hero adaptation someday. Doc or The Shadow or The Spider, either in comics or animation, without the senseless updating and over-explaining «character development» like in the Alec Baldwin-Shadow-fiasco-film.
Gary Lovisi: Your stunning covers for my Hardboiled mag are very popular with everyone who sees them. What are your feelings on hardboiled crime-related art?
Bruce Timm: It’s hard, actually, to define «crime-fiction» art. There’s pulp crime-fiction art, and digest crime-fiction art, both of which cross over with paperback crime-fiction art. Basically, I’m a fan of good illustration. Period. Regardless of subject matter. Composition, emotionally intensity, color and lighting effects are what I look for. And pretty girls, of course!
My favorite pulp crime artist is H. J. Ward, hands down. Gorgeous gals in twisty curvy poses, painted in luscious, creamy, wet-on-wet oil technique. My favorite paperback artists include Robert McGinnis, Robert Maguire, and Mitchell Hooks, the usual suspects.
My approach to the Hardboiled covers is different from my earlier «homage» work. When the covers were black and white, I used to experiment with different b&w textures, coquille board, zip-a-tone, xeroxed newsprint, whatever worked. Now that I’m doing them in color, I’m trying to make them as exciting and eye-catching as possible, with loud color, sexy gals, exaggerated action, and simple, graphic, almost cartoony styling.

Related to FallenClan designs! All your designs are super amazing, what’s your simplifying process/how do you decide design for cat pelts? Cause I always struggle with simplifying/deciding how they look especially bengals and cats with white patches… thanks if you respond!
I’m ADHD and struggle with consistency and simplifying lol, though more complex designs are pretty, I lean more towards what you do w/ you’re cats as they are simple but still super pretty + it makes it easier to consistently draw them all for stuff like this! (These comic like moon updates :])
(Also hope none of this came off as offensive, it’s all meant positively! I really really admire you and your designs :])
ty for the compliments!!! very sweet ask and I shall do my best to give a good response o7
generally my method with designing characters/drawing is to just wing it. fuck it we ball basically. but i DO take a lot of inspiration from other people's warriors art, taking the time to analyze what i like about their styles and what different sorts of patterns i can use
(i also regularly consult the Clangen Sprite Guide for better looks at white patches/tortie patterns and such, highly recommend)
the first thing i decide when i'm designing a new cat is what fur texture i want them to have. i have four that I pick from (pictured below, in order), wavy, spiky, curly, and square.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i decide the fur pattern based on the cat's personality (a more stoic cat might have square fur, while someone more bubbly might have curly, or someone more excitable have spiky, so on and so on), and also based on their parents/how many cats i've designed with that fur pattern recently.
after that is snout shape, which is probably my favorite part. i love to draw cats with a very pronounced snout, not unlike an oriental shorthair, but i generally slide around between that and a more typical, stubby snout, occasionally veering off into the very square snout of a maine coon. this is also a great spot to determine how sharp you want their jaw to be, which is something that can really help set a design apart! (a couple of snout examples below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
then i usually move onto colors. i like to pick an undertone for the cat first, so i know what sort of pallate to work with. as you can see in the pictures below, ravenstar has a purple/blue undertone, and toadbelly has orange/red undertones
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this helps me make all the colors look nicer together, so i don't end up doing something like making a very warm colored cat with blue-toned white patches (which would make the white patches look super cold/too bright), which can be a really cool stylistic choice, but isnt what i tend to go for
once i've drawn out the cats fur shape and picked my colors, i'll move onto the base coat. over my time of having the fallenclan blog i've discovered that having a very simple pattern underneath the normal pattern can add a lot of visual interest to a cat, and make them look less plain.
here's a good example! one of the first cats i designed, oaktuft. their pattern was super basic--one base color, plus the inside of the ears, and then the color of their patterns.
Tumblr media
and here's another cat that i designed a little more recently--Shiverspots! you can see that even just the small change of adding a bit of a lighter color to her underbelly made a world off difference. plus my style got a lot more defined lol
Tumblr media
i have a couple of different base patterns that i use. here's a few more examples. i've even started to experiment with more than two colors!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
once i've got the base done i move onto patterns. this part can definitely be tricky; trying to make a dozen brown tabbies with short fur be distinct can be . a challenge. i like to follow the steps of what i've already designed--a cat with spiky fur might have very sharp, angular stripes, and a cat with curly fur might have much rounder ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think a good rule of thumb for if your pattern feels a little too basic is just to throw some more colors in there. another shade of orange, a more pale tint to some of them, whatever. and don't be afraid to erase it and start again! sometimes a design just won't work, and thats fine :)
the final thing i do is to add little design quirks. a particularly sharp jawline, downturned eyes, a crooked smile or a gap tooth, whatever! little things can really give your cats character.
i really hope that this helped!!!

Anyone who's taken a look at my notes knows I Fucking Ramble, so don't look here unless you wanna see me share way too many thoughts about Our Life: Now and Forever (including way too much about my personal life)
youtube
Guys. Oh my god. Where do I even start. Maybe with just:
Little things I love about the demo
I am a sucker for character customization, and this game delivers that in spades. You can choose so many different things, from your appearance with a doll maker/picrew type thing, your gender and pronouns (with a BUNCH of customization), to what your bedroom looks like, to little stuff like what kind of drink you get at a restaurant. This was present in the first game too, Our Life: Beginnings and Always (OL:BA), but it's more in-depth here, and I love it. And I love that you can see your little avatar when your character speaks. I feel like it just flows so nicely, and it makes me wanna replay it with different characters. Of course, you also get many different dialogue choices, and there are so many choices to pick from. I LOVE it.
So, I absolutely adore OL:BA, and I love Cove with my whole entire heart. But man, inside of me there are two wolves: one of them is a Summer Disliker, and one of them is a rabid Autumn Pinterest Girlie. I ADORE fall, colourful leaves, mushrooms, rain, etc etc etc.
So seeing that Our Life: Now and Forever (OL:NF) takes place in a sleepy town in the AUTUMN?? With scenery like THIS???
Tumblr media
I want to live here in real life.
The art style in general is just so beautiful. The colours, the softness of it all, the spritework, the cg art: everything is so stunning. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On a different note, the extent to which you can customize your relationships with Qui and Tamarack is so cool. You can go through a slow-burn romance, as neighbours to childhood friends to crushes to partners. You can have a cute love-at-first-sight childhood crushes story. You can avoid romance altogether and have a chosen-family dynamic. You can have a poly relationship and date both of them. Not ONLY that, but even the way that they interact with you can be customized;
Tumblr media
That's so cool!! You can choose whether a character looks up to you or takes care of you, or whether they prefer to compliment you or tease you. And you can choose the same kind of thing when you interact with them in turn! A visual novel having this level of depth in a relationship is so awesome. The game will even remember things: like, if you react negatively to certain types of interactions, the characters can remember and act accordingly in the future. That's so cool!
I like that this story seems to be a little bit more serious than the last game. OL:BA has basically zero stakes, and very little serious conflict. That's not a bad thing at all, it's very much supposed to be a comfy, indulgent game. But OL:NF begins Step 2 by showing that the main characters have drifted apart as they've grown older. Not only is that nice realism, but it also adds both possible comfort potential (bringing your old friends back together and having good times) AND possible whump/angst potential (watching who used to be your best friends drift apart completely). The (optional) jealousy mechanic could also add to this. Obviously the game isn't finished yet and I could totally be off the mark, but even if this kind of thing doesn't end up happening, the fanfic potential is also there!
I really like how complex the characters are. Even as kids, they have wants and motivations and flaws, and they're so likeable. They change throughout the story, because not only are they growing up and older, but they have their own experiences and personal struggles. And speaking of characters:
Quick thoughts about Main Characters
> Tamarack Baumann
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh my goodness. Ohg. Tammy. She is so so important to me. She is so sweet and supportive, and she's so pretty. Look at her. Oh my god I love her.
I absolutely adore Tamarack, and part of it is that I relate to her in a couple ways. I grew up as the insecure fat girl. I love frogs and toads. The cello is my favourite instrument, and I would love to learn to play one day. When she first said that she lived with her Omi and Opa, I literally gasped in real life, because I lived with my Omi and Opi for about a year, when I was her age.
> Qui "Autumn" Lin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
QUI!!!!!! I love them so dearly, their mannerisms and the way they speak are so so endearing. They change a lot throughout the story, which is going to be so interesting to see. And they are ALSO so so pretty. Oh my god.
As a trans person myself who is definitely playing as a trans MC, I'm so curious to see the interactions with Qui, since they struggle with their own gender identity as well. Also, when they do figure out their identity in Step 3:
Tumblr media
What??? That's so cool!!!
In which I get a little bit too personal:
This is probably tmi but I don't care. To make a very long story short, I had a really shitty traumatic childhood. Especially around ages 10-15. Even disregarding that, I was always a 'mature for my age' child, who followed all the rules and was terrified of ever stepping out of line. I never got the chance to be a normal kid.
So, getting the chance to go through this game, being able to experience growing up in such a beautiful area, with a supportive family and no trauma and friends that care about you. It's just. So nice.
-
Anyways. I'm gonna go now and make a bunch of OCs to play through the demo with and make different choices, because the hyperfixation is truly all-consuming

hi I really love your art style and I’m an aspiring artist so I wanted to ask, what’s your step by step process for drawing faces? do you use references for each pose or do you just wing it? and for bodies, how did you learn to draw with perfect proportion?
Thank you :D 💕 there’s still a lot of learning for me to do, but I will do my best to explain my process and answer your questions :)
1) Faces
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I usually start with a circle and overlap it w a rough oval face shape, and then I put a cross that cuts through the middle both length- and width-wise. I also usually mark where the hair line is (roughly halfway from the top of the head and the middle line). Then I start sketching in features of the face. This can of course vary, but usually eyes fall in the middle of the head (the middle line), mouth is about halfway from the chin to the eyes, the nose is halfway between the mouth and eyes, and eyebrows are half way from eyes to hairline. Obviously you can exaggerate these features, and change proportions, but these are just the basics. And even with exaggeration, people still tend to draw with a ratio that pleases the brain (i.e, thirds).
Sometimes I need another pass and do another sketch w more detail, but for faces I usually like to just jump into lineart w a rough sketch. I start with the eyes/eyebrows because I feel like they are the most expressive part of the face, and that you can tell what a person is thinking or feeling by their eyes and/or eyebrows alone (Which is probably why I love designs where characters have masks/helmets that only show their eyes or have white eyes). And I love drawing the little wrinkles in them when someone’s angry or pensive haha. Then I draw the mouth/nose, then cheek/jawline, then neck, and I do the hair :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once you know the rough basics, you can adjust certain features. For example, maybe you want more angular cheeks with a long face, or a kid with slightly curvy cheeks to show their youth. Maybe you want someone to have a more square jaw, but big round eyes. Etc etc. BUT the proportions are roughly the same. You’re free to experiment though and change up proportions.
2) Poses/Bodies
Tumblr media
Okay, I really should use more references, but I tend to just wing things😭 I sped up a 15 min doodle so maybe it helps w the process, but I usually just start drawing a face and then figure out what I want to do from there. However, if there’s a pose I want but can’t figure out, I will look up a reference. And then that knowledge gets added to my brain. The ability to wing things doesn’t come from nowhere. It helps to do studies and experiment, because the more you observe different poses and try them out yourself, the more your brain starts to understand how bodies work in a 3D space, and you will be able to recreate or make your own poses from your own mind.
As for the body proportions, I feel like that’s the thing I need the most practice in, but again it’s the same advice w studies and experimenting. I also have a couple tips I answered a while back, that should be somewhere if you scroll through my #art tip tag
Hope this was helpful 😅 and have fun drawing and creating !

✨ MY STORIES 💫
(page under construction, check this post occasionally since it will be continuously updated! page created Apr 14 2023, last updated Dec 28 2023.)
Art tag of my characters (all)
Lost and Found Children
The Magician’s Protegee
Both of these stories are near and dear to my heart. Due to life obligations like school in the past, work, convention/merch schedules, I unfortunately haven’t progressed in these stories as I would have liked over the years. My dream is to one day create stories that impact people, as other people’s stories have changed me.
LOST AND FOUND CHILDREN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis: A search for their missing parents lead twins Flynn and Nate to fall into a deep darkness, unraveling secrets about their family and the country they once trusted.
Lost and Found Children is a story about mystery, overcoming trauma, blood family vs found family, the fear of growing up even in adulthood, the fear that you are not who you wished to grow up to be. The characters explore their identities in a post-war torn society, and witness their love being tested in that wildly changing world.
The story explores the horrors of war, and is also a study on the horrors of child abuse and when child rearing is left in the wrong hands, which can have devastating lifelong consequences. More importantly, it is a story about how love persists despite all odds.
Fun trivia:
The story has changed settings many times, from a tragic Victorian familial drama, to a modern school mystery, a 1920s crime drama, now it’s a historical fantasy.
This is a story I’ve been writing since I was 13 years old. The current iteration is from 2019, and I started revamping it as part of a school project. As it is a very old story that I literally grew up with, revamping it seriously has been a huge task, finding difficulty in deciding whether I should remove, keep, or add things like themes and characters. As of right now, a number of characters are still very much unrefined!
Flynn and Nate are not actually my oldest OCs.
Inspirations:
Growing up, I consumed a lot of Japanese media, and I mix what I learn from real world history with series that have impacted me a lot, like Fullmetal Alchemist, Pandora Hearts, Violet Evergarden. I draw influences from these periods: the industrial revolution in England & the west, late 1800s England, and early 20th century American history, especially the interwar period.
For the character designs, I'm inspired by historical fashion and JRPG aesthetics. My aim is to design them more simply and more humbly (a la Ryoko Kui style), but I still try for a whimsical old world look, bordering on fantastical. I do want a bit more steampunk look to my story moving forward, and that's an aesthetic I need to experiment with and study in my artwork a lot more often.
🌱
THE MAGICIAN’S PROTEGEE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis: In a distant, idyllic future where robots and humans coexist - a healthcare android lives day to day with his adoptive daughter, patients, and their ragtag android and human friends.
The story is a light-hearted, slow-paced, slice of life series - but it will also deal with complex topics like artificial intelligence, existentialism, and the fear of outliving the people you care about the most. THE MAGICIAN'S PROTEGEE IS UNDER HIATUS. (as of Nov 2023)
Fun trivia:
This story used to be about the Victorian occult (hence the title), also about a doctor who saves people from the ghouls that plagued Victorian society. However, without a greater purpose to the story, and only using the setting as a cool backdrop, it was a "monster of the week" series that I didn’t have any interest in writing. I scrapped the Victorian setting, in favour of writing a fantasy world I could fully have control of. It’s very different from LaFC, but it’s also a story I wish to tell from my heart. LaFC is like, the moody night story, and TMP is the sunny day story.
The current iteration is from 2020, also developed for a school project. As I was much older (than 13 haha) when creating this series, I had a pretty clear image of the story and its themes compared to writing LaFC.
Inspirations:
The inspiration for the world building comes from series like Eureka Seven, Kino's Journey, and Aria (Kozue Amano). I also draw a lot of inspiration for world building and writing from American post WWII/cold war society and culture, especially the boom in science fiction and spy fiction. I also take inspiration from early-mid 20th century Hong Kong, China, and Japan for worldbuilding and setting - their visual motifs, response to western technology and changing attitudes and culture.

Hey Cinna, I've been looking into making my own accessories, especially chokers, but trying to figure out where and how to start has been extremely overwhelming to figure out what tools I need and where to even begin figuring out what supplies I would need to start.
All of your chokers have looked incredible, so I was wondering if you have any resources you could share for starting out and learning how to make chokers and other accessories?
i think the simplest way to start would be buying a standard choker from somewhere, and replacing and/or adding new spikes.
going into it u wanna look at how they've made their choker to get a good feel for what goes into it.
after you get it enough to try making your own, you can go buy leather strips from a crafting store; Leathercrafting or Leatherworking is what you'd wanna look up more generally depending on how deep you wanna go (and assuming u mean my style of chokers which r usually leather)
For changing a choker then making my own, tools i would start with are:
a hole punch for leather, lots of kits will come with the one you use a mallet with. this is quieter and faster, i prefer this :3
spikes, tree cone spikes if ur feeling a lil specific. note their measurements and buy whatever speaks to u or meets ur needs. i love having a variety to experiment with.
a little screwdriver for the back of ur spikes. they come with most kits or sets i think
rivets and snaps, watch how to set one and look at how they are used on the choker you got. get some buckles if you wanna try recreating that instead.
O rings and D rings. it's obvious what these are when you say it, but it wasn't at first 🧍🏾‍♀️they come in a variety of sizes and colors
jump rings which are used to connect D and O rings together, or for more stylistic purposes.
also some jewelry making kit from a craft store. specifically you just want a set of pliers, the flat one and needle nose tips are particularly helpful
some round cutters if you wanna use leather strips from a craft store or whatever to make a new choker
and then this one is very optional but i have this kit that comes with different detachable heads u can set or punch with. u don't have to know what they all do at first, but they will come in handy!
starting with just modifying an existing choker is a good way to observe and learn about the basics, once u start making ur own it's pretty easy to start experimenting and mixing things up.
if u need inspiration on what's possible, u can look at existing work. there are my chokers I've posted; one site whose work i love is NastyGem. their stuff is pricy but it's beautiful and inspiring to me.
for more help u should join crafting/art discord servers, and more generally try to keep an eye out for ppl familiar w ur craft. i am still learning too and i like to watch the processes be done on youtube or read an article abt the semantics of something. there's also me (❁´◡`❁) i am happy to share whatever i know if you have specific questions.

hey! ik you work at a school and based on how you post about it, you really care a lot about your job and it seems like the kids really like and trust you. i'm about to start a job as a para working 1:1 w/ a middle schooler, and my prior experience is all tutoring college students- do you have any tips on getting kids that age to engage w/ you? im worried ill be awkward around him and he'll think im cringe 😭 would really appreciate any advice u have to give
middle schoolers are developmentally in a place where they are experimenting with independence for the first time. they will test rules, boundaries, expectations. be clear and consistent but not rigid. if you make it integral to your relationship and their success that they tell you what motivates them, they have agency, and that you want to work WITH them, they may not believe that immediately but the more you prove it the easier it will be to know how to support them.
if you know anyone who has worked with this student before, ask about and be ready to filter the information you learn. I ask questions like "do you remember a day that was successful, and how did you get there?". ask "was there a time you felt that you connected?". "What strategies did you find helpful?".
I don't always agree with all of my colleagues in their approach or their view of the kid in front of them, but that doesn't mean I can't learn from them and apply it in my own way. about the same student, I was warned that successful only happened when they were elevated by using a neutral tone and that they will try to trick me so be aware of that. another said that they are very funny and sometimes needs pressure to be grounded- when I suggested a weighted shoulder blanket, she lit up and said "that would be an awesome idea!!". another colleague said that they do very well with expectations given in the form of "If X happens, my expectation is to [action]". I can keep all of these things in mind and also not let them be more deciding than the kid that I will have in front of me.
You have your own style and that can be translated to a lot of ages if you take steps to learn to communicate with them and dont make them feel stupid or inexperienced. I invite suggestions and try to apply their voice as appropriate and safe. I don't make promises I can't keep, and if I can't keep them I am upfront about it. Model integrity and honesty.
Also, because of the rapid development both hormonally, socially, physically, 6th, 7th, and 8th are all WILDLY different. The ways I can talk to my 8th graders about deeply personal social-emotional reflections doesn't look the same my 6th or 7th graders. You'll naturally find out where your student lies in terms of maturity and understanding, and there will be a LOT of growth in a single year.
Kids will accept and grow fond of your cringe if they know you express it in solidarity and from a willingness to learn. Anything will be cringe if they want to haze you for it, including things YOU SEE THEM DOING ALL THE TIME 🤣 I tell my kids all the time that there are things that come naturally to them that amaze me and impress me that I don't know about. I put my kids in positions to be teachers. Being cringe is a natural part of working with kids and its ok to be silly and weird IF you are there for them when it counts. IF you don't patronize, condescend, or talk down to them. They are intelligent, thoughtful, and often know much much more than they ever say. They are extremely resilient. they will genuinely think you are just as likely 17 or 40 years old no matter what age you are. Don't worry about being awkward or cringe, take steps to understand the passions and joys of your students. Be willing to suck at things they excel at. Be willing to play basketball with them even though you suck ass, and ask them how to improve. Be willing to make bracelets that are so fucking ugly they're worth laughing about while they're making 400-braid works of art. Acknowledge when they have skills you aren't familiar with. They will learn to appreciate yours if they know you see theirs.
They don't accuse me of being lame when I act goofy, to them it's just part of who "Mr. Jack" is. I'm not above getting pranked. I'm not above getting razzed on. Im not above getting something wrong. I'm a professional who knows how to navigate systems and wants to share that with them. I explain why things happen. I answer "why" with a genuine, thoughtful response. Middle schoolers always want to know why, and if they don't know why by the time they get to high school because it's been held hostage by people in power, they believe there is no "why". I never say "just because" or "It's the right thing to do". I say what will come out of it. If I ever have to report something happening or have to have another colleague help with a mandated reporting/need help from social work to wrap around, I never just do it. I say things like "you know, X is someone I really trust and respect here. They have more information than I do and I think if we worked together we would be able to really find a solution, can we try to do that". I explain that I will never abandon them or shove them on others or destroy our trust, but I have Profesional obligations and that I will walk through the whole process with them. I have sat in ambulances with kids. I have stayed into the night at hospitals with kids. I have exercised my right to refuse to send a kid home out of an immediate safety concern and updated them the entire time what every call I made was about, what I did and did NOT share, checked in with them... and my worst fear of ruining my relationship with a kid and destroying their trust has not happened because I make sure that the pieces are not moving around them while they are helpless. So much is already out of their control.
I have coached multiple students who admitted to me that they vaped or smoked, and i think this is a good example of applying that mindset: My job isn't tell them to stop because it's bad. My job is to say "look, I'm not going to say what everyone else has told you or pretend that I've never done something that could harm my body. Anything you do, I want you to do research and use that to decide what is worth it." And I share knowledge, we get to the root of it, we talk about the reasons, we talk about the risks. One of my students who smoked nicotine without parents knowing didn't know that it would seriously impact a surgery they had coming up that they had been waiting for their whole life and were excited for. Me sharing that information not with the threat of consequences but with a need for them to understand how to move forward was how we got to develop a plan to quit that was seen through.
Sorry that was a lot of rambling!! Basically work as a team and find ways to come up with strategies together. You can be professional, "in charge", and provide direction without insulting the newly budding agency your middle schoolers are unfortunately learning that they don't have in a lot of environments. Start EVERY SINGLE DAY new. I have bad days and have cried because of how hurtful something was from a student, but I don't let that stop me from greeting them in the morning, or feeling like they have a right to education, or that they can't try to do things differently. They're incredibly impulsive, and you will have an hour long conversation that seems to really sink, and the second you get out of the room they will still immediately do the thing they shouldn't. Over time with consistency they really do change, and it's normal for that to not be always immediate. Days, weeks, years... sometimes you won't even see that growth, and that's really hard, but you have to trust that it will happen.

for emu, i’m still figuring stuff out with her, but i’ve been thinking about her a lot more recently, and so far what i’ve got is that she has a little bundle of issues including grief over her grandpa, toxic positivity and not letting herself feel negative emotions properly, some internalized hatred of herself and how childish she is following an argument w shosuke, and generally feeling kinda lost, like the rest of hw, after wonder stage closed bc she doesn’t know what to do w/o shows. yknow.
so like. she still has her whole thing w/ her grandpa. and she while she wasn’t doing the *best* she wasn’t doing that bad in the mental health department. still wasn’t letting herself like. grieve properly. but she wasn’t the worst. she performed a lot on wonder stage and knew that the stage was in danger of being closed down, so she tried really hard to keep it from happening. but the actors for wonder stage began to leave as time went on and the ones who stayed didn’t really get why she was so persistent in keeping this stage open when the others in the park were better and shit. and she didn’t have much help. so unfortunately despite her best efforts wonder stage was kinda doomed for closure. butttt she’s not giving up yet. so she tries to convince her brothers to not close it, or at least to just give her some more time. which Does Not Go Well. shosuke gets real frustrated with her and starts yelling and shit. and while keisuke shuts him down once he gets too heated. well. it’s kinda too late. with what he said about her being childish and demanding that she just grow up already and stuff like that, my girl takes that to heart. and then with the official closure of wonder stage…yeah…she’s not doing the best…
emu’s grief here is made worse w/ the wonder stage closure. cause like. that was her and her grandpa’s favorite stage. girl feels like she failed him. she loved that stage. she loved doing shows there. it was something she had to remind her of her grandpa. and now it’s closed. :(
since then she’s been. different. like it’s just barely noticeable to a lot of people but she’s definitely changed. she smiles and acts cheery and seems like her usual self but like. her smile isn’t quite the same. she’s not quite as talkative. she avoids her brothers a lot more. and her brothers have noticed btw and they both feel AWFUL. especially shosuke. they done fucked up and they know it.
also like technically she could keep doing shows, after all theres the other stages in pheonix wonderland, and she has experience in doing shows + is related to the people who literally own the place so it wouldn’t be hard for her to join one of those stages. but she doesn’t bc after all that, she thinks her goal of just wanting to bring smiles to people is childish. shows make her so so happy but she thinks it’s immature and naive of her to still want to pursue that, especially considering she failed last time. it’s a silly and childish path to pursue, and she needs to pull her head out of the clouds and grow up already, like her brother says. so despite loving shows with all her heart, she gives up on doing them. but since shows are so important to her, she doesn’t rlly know what to do without them, so that’s where that feeling lost stuff comes in. yknow.
for her art, i just think she enjoyed art in general, and with her grief and the wonder stage closure it helped her cope. i have a very specific idea in my head of her style. but i cant remember the artist here on tumblr that i think she does art like. if i can remember their name i will though. i might actually do a post dedicated to what i think her art style is like….
not set in stone just yet, but what i’m thinking for the original meet up is that she meets nene first. nene does music and emu finds it, and it gives her some inspiration for some art. she posts it and credits nene’s music as what inspired her, and nene is so fucking honored. through some light encouragement from rui nene gets the courage to dm emu to tell her thank you, and they start chatting!! they get along pretty well and emu starts making art for nene’s music. eventually rui has the idea to start animating them, so they can make music videos for the songs, and boom hw gets its beginnings online.
this happens before wonder stage closure btw. when it does close, emu disappears from their group chat for a bit. she comes back like nothing happens and while she doesn’t tell them what happened, they both notice she doesn’t talk about what shows shes doing anymore, or shows in general. nene and rui are both very sad at this btw. seeing emu have so much love for shows and be able to talk about them like she did was really nice, so to see her stop with that and seemingly not enjoying shows anymore after something happened, just like they did, it sucks. :(
anyway i think my timeline is like. during nene’s last year of middle school when she transfers to home schooling, she starts doing music -> everything i just mentioned here happens -> eventually they meet tsukasa, and he joins the group -> hollow ☆ wonderland does its thing as a group for a while -> main story shit happens. yeah. 👍
uhhhh. dear god i’m so bad at explaining my thoughst. augh. i hope this made some amount of sense. and that i wasn’t too repetitive lsajdkhfgyfdhsj. anyway miscellaneous emu thingies now.
like i mentioned, wonder stage hasn’t been replaced yet, it’s just closed down and sectioned off. so emu still visits it all the time. there is nothing being done to maintain it. so it is absolutely unsafe. but does emu care. no. girlie wants to disappear and while she’s not *planning* on dying, if she had to die anywhere she wouldn’t mind if it was at wonder stage. she draws there a lot.
a lot of her drawings are traditional!! with lots of bright colors and crayons and colored pencils. she has lots of fun drawing.
this applies to non-au emu as well but she has gifted stickers to all her friends. nene’s synthesizer is covered in them.
wonder stage was closed off at sunset. btw. just to give her another reason to hate sunsets.

If you don't mind my asking; how did you develop your art style? I've been trying to work on developing my own style but I don't know where to even start. Your style seems so well developed, and I utterly adore it.
;w; its so kind of you to say so!! thank you!! I wish I could offer some insightful or exciting advice haha but I do have a short and a long answer!
the short answer: its the boring yet tried and true tip youll hear from everyone 😭😭 it all comes from a lot of practice over a lot of time!!
i kind of hate hearing that too because it seems dismissive BUT the practice isnt just drawing as much as possible, its also looking at art from other people, paying attention to the colors n shapes n composition around you, and at times just Thinking...
the long answer: style is ... hard to pinpoint! and in some ways, aiming to have your own very distinct style (and that being your main goal) can be restricting. focusing on that can keep you in a box of what's recognizable as Yours and hesitant to experiment or make changes. Ive seen some people who get hung up on making themselves a Brand draw no differently today than they did 10 years ago because they admit making changes or venturing into new subjects/styles "flop".... (and if your livelihood comes from selling art or merchandise and you rely on engagement to pay your bills thats another thing but as a hobby artist myself im talking more about a goal of just getting better at your craft in a way that makes you, personally, happy and satisfied and proud of it vs making what an audience wants to see and feeling rejected in pursuing other creative endeavors)
a lot of style development just progresses naturally over time as you absorb more art around you and train your mind to distinctly pick out what you like about other artwork and why. :] its all about the influence and how you incorporate that into your own work! so many of my artistic choices come from other artists, and the more you draw and the more you study other art, it becomes something thats a unique blend of You, even if not necessarily something immediately and strikingly unique that anyone could recognize as yours, its You cuz of the choices made in it and all the influences you enjoyed enough to pick up.
for me, it was pretty much doing studies + compiling an "inspiration/reference" folder (for doing studies) :3 ive been doing that since I was in elementary school and just drawing on loose leaf college ruled paper... I started out copying drawings in the funny papers we got on sundays, going to the library to get those "history of disney" kinda books that show a lot of cels or concept art, googling looney tunes screenshots to copy... it was So much copy, copy, copy. in my teen years it was shonen jump, i'd trace panels from naruto and one piece and shaman king, i'd freehand it, i'd redraw pages in my own way... and more recently ive kept it up with other interests (opening a catalog of model cars and filling sketchbook pages with car drawings... taking photos of cool scenery or bugs i see and blocking out the composition to figure out Why it looks appealing... going through an invertebrate zoology textbook and drawing creatures to understand their shapes/distinguishing features so i can anthropomorphize them in fun ways)
it might seem contradictory that spending a lot of time copying stuff leads to something thats your own but it does!! so much of art really does come from that internal library you build up, and building it up happens thru all that observation and exercising your hand to match up movements with the images in your head, and gaining experience + refining memory of how certain things are built or shaped or constructed. thats probably the number one tip i'd give to anyone who wants art advice... get a little sketchbook thats JUST for your eyes, and fill it totally up with stuff you copy. youll learn SO much and feel really refreshed for your own original works!
and if you feel discouraged, keep in mind that things tend to look better from an outside perspective! you see my art as having a developed style, and i very much appreciate that comment cuz to me, it's jumbled haha. i can draw the same character in very different ways in the same day... even the way i draw hands varies depending on what set of ocs I'm playing with. each of my stories presents some different artistic choices, and draws from a few different inspirations, so even if all the characters and the ways i draw them are recognizable as my art, they would still look a bit strange if they were all together because I have multiple "styles" ehehe
so in short, rock on with making art thats enjoyable for you and dont let an idealistic goal of a distinct style hinder you from having fun with the process & being proud of what you make. cuz honestly if you hold out waiting for the moment of realization that youve developed a style, you might never have that moment! not for lack of having anything distinct about your art, but just because its natural to be more critical and lost in the details of your own work than an audience would be. you likely already have aspects in your art that are recognizable as yours! consistency is good in some regards (like animation or comics) but dont be hesitant about trying things that are new or drastically different from your usual!

What would be for tips on designing characters?
This is kind of a complicated topic.
I think the first tip is to identify what the character design is for. like is it for a school project, a prompt, a parody of something else (and is said parody meant to be a tribute, or satirical), etc. Is the purpose going to be making them heroic, cute, cool, sexy, intimidating, scary, goofy, etc. Is this just for fun, experimenting, or something to represent yourself? Is this a member of a species/cast of characters, and if so, what traits are common to the species/cast, and what traits are unique to them? Knowing that beforehand can help set your expectations, and give you some direction to work towards (or away from? if you're really trying to experiment...)
The next step I'd usually suggest doodling ideas off the top of your head. it's unlikely to be "good" but it does help establish your current perspective that's been built up subconsciously over the years from exposure to media and your own tastes. It's a good point of reference to start off with imo. Sometimes that might be all you need, if you really like what you came up with and it speaks to you in some way.
Typically though, especially if you have a specific goal in mind or are learning character design or are trying to venture out of your comfort zone, it won't look that good/unique yet. That's when you'd begin researching: take a few characters that come to mind that fit your idea of goals established. If you want to make a cool character, what are traits that stick out to you as "cool"? Is it certain accessories, their shape, personality, or what they do? Those are things worth considering. If you have an art style established, how can you translate those aspects? If there's real-world or other references you can bring in, that's always good too, and has a better chance of coming up with something that feels more personal/unique.
Along with researching is when you'd start experimenting with this stuff. Trying out different body/head proportions, eye shapes, how hair looks. A really important thing to consider is how often you expect to draw this character. If it's something you know you'll draw hundreds or thousands of times, then you really need to weigh in what parts of them are fun to draw versus not fun, whether you can simplify parts of them into easier shapes, is the difficult aspect something you're willing to get better at overtime, what aspects lend itself to a wider range of expression (unless the goal is to make them NOT expressive, or w/e).
This is also where I'd start thinking more about stuff like personality and how they think. Maybe you have an idea already that's part of your overall goal, but now you should be trying to figure out how to convey that in the design. What's their history? What people do they interact with regularly and how do they interact with them? What's their long term and short term goals? Who is their favorite my little pony character? You don't HAVE to answer all of these, and you definitely don't have to commit to them forever, but it's the kind of stuff that will help inform your design more, and maybe even aid in world-building (if that's part of your goal).
I think the final "tests" would be trying to make some kind of reference stuff, arriving at a consistent draft of your findings. This can involve doing some turnarounds, seeing what they look like at different angles, or minor details. Expression tests involving the face, or body.
If it feels like something that appeals to you and hits on the goals you've established, then I say that's good enough... but I also think you should be open to experimenting on them further too, when inspiration hits. Character design is something most people change their tastes or get better at, and it's good to be open-minded about trying new things to see if that works out. It can be as complex as a whole redesign or just changing the color scheme. And while I described the process linearly, sometimes you'll get to the reference part and realize the goal itself ought to be changed. That's fine too, it's good to bounce back and forth all the steps if that's what helps you create something you like.
Of course we don't really design stuff in a vacuum and post stuff for others to look at, so I think another important aspect to temper your expectations is to know that not every character is created equal. Your concept could be an android-samurai that is haunted by math problems and maybe you can pull off that concept the best anyone ever could... it's not likely to get as many notes as "bunny girl with big boobs #35279". That doesn't mean you failed, just that your potential audience will be more niche, and likely their connection to a character idea, if presented well, might be deeper.
Of yeah, presentation. People aren't going to always know every single aspect of your character at a given moment: it's good to keep in mind what the themes of a character are and at least try to be consistent with that. It's totally okay to draw them in silly memes all you want, but don't blame other people if they have trouble taking them seriously when you suddenly put them in a dramatic trauma web series (you would have to pace your transition into it thoughtfully). You should try to present them in ways that make sense for their character. But sometimes you discover that maybe you don't like that anymore... it's fine to shift them into a new direction, I think that's part of the artistic discovery process.
That's all I can think right now that's broad. I think anything else is more just specific to my own preferences.

Hi!
Any notes on aquarius venus at 0 degree??💙
Thnx in advance!
this is a very naive love placement, as it is in 0°, and also in aquarius. this suggests that, in the past, you must have reached an important lesson in love and this lifetime you are challenged to “reboot” your way of thinking in love. let’s look at your placement below;
0° — any planet in 0° will have a new way of thinking, contrary to how you may have thought or acted in your previous lifetime. this is a rebooted planet and whatever sign or planet you have in 0° will project behaviour that is naively true and accurate to your sign. it will mostly manifest in good traits, though not always. because the sign or planet has no previous ° experience, it will be blind, naive, and will have no insecurity around it. as the ° ascends and continuously reaches other key °s such as 12-16°, 18°, and so on...
aquarius venus — a rebellious lover with a different perspective on love and a very unique way of loving. they are very independent and love giving their lovers independence. they see their partners as their best friends and can even bond over being loners, outcasts, or simply different from society, though this is applicable if their partner has a similar placement, such a gemini, libra, or aquarius placement also, or any of these influences elsewhere. this is a very spontaneous placement and it can fall in love easily... however in love you may be, they respect personal space, and believe it's essential to have a relationship that is strong. there needs to be no overwhelming presence over them, or the burden of someone who is overly attached...
your aquarius venus in 0° causes you to be naive, unconventional, and very different to others, in almost every way. venus is not only a love planet, but also a planet of style, taste, and aesthetics. you may have a style that changes often or is very unconventional/different to those around you. in relationships (any type, platonic or romantic) you tend to trust easily, to fall in love easily, or have many crushes or interests. on one extreme you may fall in love too easily and you may give your all to people because you are inexperienced and lack fundamental knowledge in relationships such as respect. boundaries are not built, there is a wobbly self-esteem, and there seems to be no individuality. you give your everything; your person, your personality, your devotion, your compassion, your heart. this is easily exploitable by people, though it is necessary to go through these situations because they give you experience - which is what a 0° is looking for. on the other extreme, you may be so inconsistent in relationships you don't know what you actually want in love, and it may cause you to jump person to person because you have a "shiny object syndrome" where anything new sparks your interest. take what resonates to you personally.
this may be a love dumb placement, though the nature of your venus is not because of aquarius as much as because it's in 0°... degrees play a more important role than the sign from what i have seen, and the interpretation of the sign can come much later after analysing the degree and planet affected...
the karmic lesson for this planet (or goal) is to reboot its way of loving, of minding relationships, of communicating, of initiating. there is a love for art, creativity, and style. love may be overly romanticized or it can cause you to be more open-minded... for example, you may notice you like things much more unconventional to others, such as polyamory relationships. or there may be a part of you do unused to love you imagine love as something more than it is. you imagine love to be more spectacular than it is, you over-idealise love to the point of delusion. you will learn boundaries within this life - what you like, dislike, and the personal rules you will abide by. through experiencing friendships, romance, and conversations with others, you will learn more about yourself, what you like, and what you want out of love. for now, however, you are learning through experience, so let it flow...

twst-only blog (with a bias for jamil viper at the moment help me)
i usually do art (oc x canon content / silly stuff / etc) + occasional shitposts/rambles
i think it should also be important to note that sometimes the majority of my thoughts are in the tags hgsdfnds
not spoiler-free for EN content; JP content will be tagged with #twst jp & #twst jp spoilers
tagging me and spam is fine! love em :0
asks open for everyone and anything (w/ anon available)!

welcome ~ ♡
for the people finding themselves here uhhh-
hi! you can refer to me as ian or i don't mind crystal -from my user- if it's easier to remember!
twisted wonderland has been haunting my every waking moment so that's gonna be this entire blog ;;;
i do mostly art (forgive the style inconsistency from one post to another i'm experimenting hfjskdljs), i sometimes do writing???, and generally i just post whatever comes to mind.
also a lot of oc x canon stuff and the occasional shitposts and rambles. (fair warning i do a lot of long posts with comics hndnfsn)
(when i freak out about things it’s usually an over-exaggeration so please don’t take everything too seriously hdnsjjd)
i also ramble a lot in the tags which is usually where 90% of my thoughts are ;;;
and despite being a majority jamil viper content at the moment(bc brainrot for him is real rn), i do in fact still have a love for the rest of the twst game --
━━━━━━✦
i am 18+ but nothing here will be too mature/nsfw; (if there would be anything that i think would be too crude/sensitive/suggestive, i will put a warning!)
just please be aware that if you are under 18 that my posts will reflect the fact that i am 18+
this blog is not spoiler-free for already released EN content; i will only tag spoilers for JP content with #twst jp and #twst jp spoilers so please filter those out if you do not want to see those posts!
i am mainly based on EN because that's what i play but i also catch up with JP stuff; so my knowledge and preferences about twst are very mix-and-match.
━━━━━━✦
tagging me and spam is absolutely fine :0
i love seeing the interactions, y’all are fun. even you silent lurkers, likers, and rebloggers. i tend to be the same so you are all hella appreciated too 💖
and irdc what you do with reblogs, go ham and have fun you lovelies.
also i read all tags and replies even if i don't respond to all of them. i appreciate them all, thank you 😭😭💕💕
also also when i do plan on responding i can be incredibly slow sometimes so pls forgive me on that 🙏
━━━━━━✦
Tumblr media
ask box ~ ☆
always open! and feel free to send about anything! (anon is always available if you prefer!)
i welcome thoughts, questions, etc and i'm always looking to chat or just gush about twst! (i'm also okay with things that aren't twst-related like just silly random asks :3)
on that note, i'm also down for requests / ideas! canon stuff, oc ramblings / interactions, oc x canon, etc. are always fun!
no specific rules at the moment because i'm not sure what to expect yet;;; but everyone has been generally cool! AND!!! if i haven't gotten to your ask yet don't worry i have! i just tend to be very slow (and indecisive) ;;;

Could you tell us more about your bad vives AU? I love your art btw <3
okay id like to preface with a lot of it is VIBES which means if smth doesnt make sense i need everyone to suspend the FUCK out of their disbelief dont question me we are here for a GOOD TIME and a GOOD TIME ONLY. here are some bullet points largely summing up things ive already drawn!!!! pls note my fav kind of Time Stuff is bullshit miserable groundhog day style time loops
-chat blanc gets the bunny miraculous we dont ask questions about this
-he SLINKS ARND IN THE SHADOWS of paris for a while and it builds up marinettes paranoia bc shes TOTALLY 100% SEEN CHAT NOIR and knows that absolutely he isnt akumatized so she gaslights herself into thinking she hasnt caught random glimpses of chat blanc BUT ALSO spirals into a state of FULL BLOWN constant fight or flight response and wont sleep so that shes not vulnerable
-blah blah chat blanc drops in on her while adrien is arnd entirely bc i really wanted to draw that thing of adrien doing the Mom Arm when the car stops too fast bc this whole sitch is just a violent messy WRECK. anyway chat blancs whole attitude is like hewwo my love <:3c im here to give us a super romantic ending <:3c and marinettes response to everything is just like. okay cool, i am going to puke now!! meanwhile adriens just like what the FUCK is happening here
-anyway. more cat n mouse games. ANYWAY. at some point its lb vs cb but chat blanc is just having a great week and WINNING so gets her earrings or smth who cares and successfully romeo and juliets himself n marinette yandere style. a VERY ROMANTIC ENDING bc nothing was ever gonna fix things OBVI so ofc they have to just die in each others arms 💖
-YES adrien experiences massive manpain NO i dont care anyones opinion on it bc i love to see the kids cry. OBVI he is catastropically devastated and NO there is no identity reveal hes just deeply and viciously torn tf UP over marinette getting dead and also feeling completely helpless AND ALSO ALSO like hes the one to blame <:3
-everyone is so catatonic in the wake of No More Marinette that even adrien doesnt notice ladybug hasnt been arnd since
-idk. timeloop shit. adriens stuck in a cycle of the night before (V HARD TO GET A HEAD START IN SUCH A SHORT TIMEFRAME!!) day of, n day after (so no matter what he always has to reexperience the aftermath hehe). i am actually not a huge fan of when longer timespan loops get past mid teens (ESP when it gets to TRIPLE DIGITS???!) bc it feels like it cheapens the experience and also acute stress is sexier than chronic SO ANYWAY. eventually he will obviously succeed in brking the loop and keeping marinette frm dying. good for him.
-every loop is a little different bc every loop marinette CANT PUT HER FINGER ON IT but she knows something is Not Right, which chat blanc is ALSO feelin, so every time they react or do smth diff which means adrien is constantly having to deal w CHANGING VARIABLES !! hes having a bad time. marinette is having a bad time. chat blanc is having a very good time
-final actual confrontation or whatever is pure marichat (DOUBLETEAM. MARI IS AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT EVEN AS A CIVILIAN. YOU GO BABY!!). ive only drawn adrinette moment but the whole thing is very marichat bc im PREDICTABLE!! anyway no lb bc marinette freaks out cb is gonna take her earrings or cataclysm them so she just straight up swallows em. good job baby.
-THE END BABY!! epilogue reveal EVENTUALLY but for quite some time after they are both quietly carrying the weight of their secret traumas alone w neither of them having a full picture of the situation but not knowing it. what a good time :)
i think this looks v adrien focused but they are all having their separate little stories here and its largely marinette feeling isolated and small for all her mistakes, and chat blanc feels like the worst possible one she has or could ever make so she cant consider asking anyone, let alone CHAT NOIR HIMSELF!! to help her, which just makes everything 100000x harder. by the end of the STORY PROPER she accepts she can trust herself in chat noirs hands but shes still too scared to put her full weight on him bc she doesnt wanna FUCK UP. meanwhile adrien wont say shit to her abt it bc he doesnt wanna burden her w his SECRETS also hes drownin in guilt. also eventual identity reveal changes nothing for him in terms of grief bc he already felt like he died every time marinette did except worse bc he had to just keep living anyway :) but now also hes afraid of an identity reveal for probably obvious reasons. and then beloved CHAT BLANC man of the HOUR switched gears frm wanting to Fix things to wanting to destroy things bc hes a fucking yandere wifeguy OKAY. he knows he is forever RUINED for love of marinette and since he cant have her future is instead entirely focused on making sure he has all of her end <:3c
dw the kids are gonna be OKAY. they are insane and the power of LOVE will help pull them thru, theyre just going to be incredibly clingy for the rest of their LIVES
i love to draw very cutesy w soft and warm palettes and then have the Content be batshit miserable badtimes. i also like to draw a lot of goofy moments btwn and during the Traumas bc i love to be a dumbass
THIS ENDED UP SO LONG SORRY EVERYONE!!! please enjoy my unhinged misery porn 😊💖

🧜🏾‍♀️💙🫧out of the sea, wish i could be~
It's about time that I finally drew Halle Bailey as Ariel, especially with the fact that I haven't drawn Ariel in years... ;w; ❤️ I also did most of the work on FireAlpaca as I was experimenting with a different style, and also wanted to try using a dreadlocks brush when working on the hair; I know it's not the best by any means, but I'd like to do more improvement on that over time! 👍🏼✌🏼 Anyway, I think this will be the only drawing that I'll be posting this month as real life and college work has been eating me up lately, and for that, I'm going to spend the month getting college work done and focusing on the end of the fall semester - hopefully I'll resume art again once I'm done with classes! With that being said, hope you enjoy and be kind to each other~ ♡♡♡

B4 I continue posting art of them I think I need to explain my whole thought process……so here’s some (not all) reasons why I think Pagan and Antón should and would kiss sloppy style 😊
-They share a lot of similarities! Most obvious being their jobs as ermm terrible dictators but more importantly their shared ‘guerilla forces ripping apart the country’ situations 🐡I think they would meet first in a purely diplomatic fashion ofc, to trade weapons and/or money in order to deal with their own respective resistances. This would also mean they have tons of preexisting respect and even understanding for each other, and also bonding over a mutual burning hatred of anarchists is a funny way to get close to somebody lawl. Also I know it would b out of character for Pagan to quit his hermetic lifestyle out of the blue to go visit some guy in the Caribbean but idrc I’m just trying to have fun :)
-Another similarity they have is their relationship to fatherhood and problems regarding it. While Antón never really wanted to be a father or have Diego and wouldn’t have if not for his cancer, Pagan DID want to be a father, but lost the only real chance he’d ever have at it, so I think upon meeting Diego he’d exploit it as a chance to be the father he never got the opportunity to be. I think they’d look to each other for advice; Pagan on how to be a good mentor for Ajay, and Antón on how to be a better and kinder person to Diego. Also I find the concept of Pagan being an estranged mom-type figure to Diego (without him fully understanding the extent of his relationship to his papá) very fun
-They have contrasting personalities :3 Pagan has a very charismatic, energetic, fun and self-absorbed personality while Antón is more cool, collected and down-to-earth and I think they’d get along nice and compliment each other well……opposites attract and what not and I think they would have an interesting dynamic
-I also think their age difference would play a part in them liking each other; Pagan trying to keep him up-to-date w current shit, explaining to him what Twitter is, showing him memes or whatever, while Antón would get to live vicariously through Pagan
-Theyd b into each other technically speaking….Antón has a lot of class and poise and we know that’s important to Pagan..also his type quite obviously includes men (and besides who wouldn’t be into giancarlo esposito), but regarding Antón, a lot of the properties found in the only person we know hes canonically been involved with romantically (Maria Marquessa) are also found in Pagan; charisma/big personality, work in publicity and media, their slightly manipulative tendencies, even down to their similar appearance. Ik this is like likening a filet mignon (Pagan) to Spam (Maria) but it’s for my point okay
-Speaking of Maria, one of the primary reasons her and Antón fell apart (according to the fc6 audiobook (listen to it pls and ty)) was differences regarding his ambitions and drive to become President. With Pagan these misunderstandings would be nonexistent as, once again, they have similair life experiences and an understanding of what it takes to do what they do
-I think they wld take good care of each other 👍Antón def needs someone to look after him as his cancer is slowly killing him which I think Pagan would do gladly. Besides the whole murdering people thing he’s a v caring person towards the ppl he loves. Pagan also needs someone to bring him out of his shell and show him he can love again which I think Antón could do. Once again in the fc6 audiobook Diego mentions that Antón gets uncharacteristically warm around the people he loves so imo it’s not too far fetched
-Final definitive reason: I like old evil man yaoi 👍and they should kill ppl together thats hot..thanks for reading like and subscribe 4 more
