I’ve seen a lot of people call Nandor a narcissist, but i just don’t see it?

When nandor talks about himself, I don't think he's really talking about himself. Not the person he's been for the last several centuries. He has this glorified image of his past self and he only ever talks about the days he'd been a human and a fearsome warrior and king. Which only shows he doesn't like the person he became after he was turned. He hasn't liked himself for 700 years.

I don’t think nandor is a narcissist now. In fact, he's the opposite of it. He has such a low self-esteem and so much hate for himself that he doesn't even want to acknowledge the person he is now. He thinks he used to be great once but that was over 700 years ago and now he believes he doesn't have anything to be proud of.

Nandor's core problem is actually his self-loathing, not his big ego. It’s his self-loathing that pushes him to talk about days long gone as if they’re still relevant. And that’s why it hurt and upset him so much when Laszlo reminded him he’s no longer the soldier he was 700 years ago. To him, it was as if Laszlo was telling him “admit it; you’re nothing. You have nothing left to be proud of. Do you even exist?” And that’s something Nandor can’t face because he’s afraid facing the truth will make his whole world crumble. Again. Just the way becoming a vampire once did. And when he learned guillermo is a vampire slayer. And also when he learned the truth about the universe. Just how many more devastating truths is he gonna face before he can’t make sense of anything anymore?
