I’m still not sure how to describe dicks! He’s longer than average, about 8 inches. More notable is how thick it is, I generally think of him as a thicker guy if that makes sense, his MC can’t fully wrap their fingers around it. No major curve to it but a slight upward tilt, a few prominent veins run along the shaft. Still not sure if I’m giving good dick descriptions.

His sex drive is pretty high. When he reluctantly wakes up in the morning, he wants to tease and try to have sex. When he catches MC during work cleaning his suite in the middle of the afternoon, he wants to cop a feel and see if they can have sex. When they get home and get done having dinner, he wants to have sex. When he wakes up during the night and they’re still curled up together, he gets handsy and wants to have sex. He honestly didn’t realize just how high his sex drive was until he was in a relationship, anytime they’re close his hands just start to wander.

Unless there’s some reason not to, he falls asleep pretty quickly after sex. He’s always looking for excuses to sleep for a while. The issue is that with all of his napping during the day, he’s kind of fucked up any semblance of a sleep schedule he might have had. He usually wakes up during the night and might try to go again, or he’ll just hold them close and say all the lovey dovey crap he’s too embarrassed to say when they’re awake.

In my car. There was this one time in 2013 when I was still a student in Japan and I flew from Tokyo to another city and I didn’t have much money and I didn’t book any hotel room because I thought I’d sleep in my sitting position on a seat at the airport because my family would arrive the next morning anyway. I didn’t know that the airport wouldn’t be opened for 24 hours. (Fuck) Like others who had the same plan as me, we were all told by the security to get out of the airport. It was midnight and it was so cold, dark and disturbingly quiet outside. I wouldn’t be surprised if some zombies showed up. I stayed outside for 2 hours and it was freezing.
And all I could think about was; how the fuck do homeless people survive on the streets? I had little money and nowhere to go and didn’t know what to do. Luckily, a Vietnam guy who originally was gonna sleep inside the airport saw me and told me that there was a 24 hour family restaurant nearby. We went there with a Taiwanese girl who couldn’t speak English and Japanese well (and I can’t speak Chinese). She came from Taiwan to see a concert of her favourite Japanese band. The whole thing was unexpected but I got to experience the kindness of strangers at the same time. The 3 of us ordered something to eat and we ended up talking and hanging out until morning. Then after the airport is opened again, we all went our separate ways. From then on, I kinda want to do something big for the homeless (except giving them CPR because I don’t know how)

This gave me an inspiration (not an inspiration to do an interpretation because I’m a woman, but to be bold and add creativity into my original work)
Let me explain. The theme of her latest album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom was inspired by Romeo and Juliet. In her music videos for this album, Halsey is Romeo. She gender swapped the characters. That alone was bold af.
Now that I understand what it feels like to put my work and my youtube videos out there, I know how “worrying about people’s responses/reactions and being afraid of criticism” from the internet feels like. And so I think what Halsey did was really bold and inspiring.
I’m someone who is not shy and compared to most people around me, I am confident. I can go up to a stranger and ask for their phone number for my friends. I did that when I was a student living in Tokyo and I went to Tokyo alone to study and at that time I didn’t know anybody in Japan and I could barely speak their language. But doing that is so much easier than building confidence to start a youtube channel. At first I was so friggin’ nervous. My palms were all sweaty. My confidence went out of the window and I was so worried and afraid. I think we all know how mean people can be on the internet.
Then last night I watched one of Halsey’s old interviews. She just does her thing so confidently and without hesitation (gender swapping Romeo and Juliet for her album) while being in the limelight at the same time.
It’s like she’s so focused on her work that she has no room at all for fears even though she’s so young. I learned something meaningful and useful and I got really inspired. I admire her because she has wisdom to share. Wisdom that can be used in the real world. And she inspires me to focus on my work, not my fears.

Blink Reads Oathbringer - Chapters 77-82
Some rather short chapters in this one, which leads me to believe that events are accelerating towards Shit Hitting The Fan very quickly, because things have been going far too well for the mission as a whole to continue that way for much longer.
Also, Shallan finally faces a truth.
Chapter Seventy-Seven – Stormshelter
….considering we're back to Kholinar chapters, the positioning of this new graphic, and what's happening in Kholinar, I'd say it's safe to assume that this Sja-Anat, Creator, Corrupter, The Taker of Secrets is the Unmade suffusing the core of the city. Well then. 'With one touch she corrupts.' uh. Not good, not good-
Oh, hey, we finally get a Truthwatcher's recording! They're…. shit, they're calling to attention the still-fighting 'parsh' and saying that something 'must be done about' them. That's- but how did you come up with the concept of enslaving them, of all things?!
Another everstorm. How many does this make now? I've lost count. Ooops.
Ayyyy, and he's meeting up with the rest of Team OT3! And for once remembers noticing how Shallan – or perhaps Veil – snuck glances at him. With OT3 glasses on, this is excellent material. Without…? Eeeeuuuugh. You can definitely see the psuedo-framework of a love triangle, but while Veil's eyeing Kaladin for his attractiveness (“brooding good looks”), Kaladin still has an idealized vision of Shallan in his head and hasn't gotten to the point of knowing her as a person where I'd be comfortable with them in a relationship.
Elhokar's gotten so much better. Even though I have a bad feeling that this will all turn south soon, I'm glad he's been doing so well recently.
I feel like between Kaladin's reports and the evidence shown with the loyalty of her men and the proof in the Wall Guard's defense, order, and discipline, Adolin's definitely considering offering to solidify Azure's position as highmarshal, even if he has to forcefully shut up those who'd complain about a woman not only fighting, but in command.
“You boys done comparing your swords?” Oh, Shallan's definitely thinking OT3 thoughts…
Hmmm. Kaladin describes some of the lighthearted banter between Shallan and Adolin as 'nauseating', and 'Kaladin liked them both… just not together.' Could be taken as romance-repulsion, but considering his own interactions with the both of them, it feels more like jealousy – though of their closeness/friendship or their romance is debatable (as well as for which one, which… more pairing fodder).
[squints] Huh. So, going with the visions, definitely nine Unmade… but do they predate Odium, and were changed by his influence, or are they, in essence, Splinters of his?
Oh, shit, two Unmade in Kholinar? UM. Ashertmarn being the other one, basically encouraging hedonism/The Revel, as opposed to the Corruptor, Secret-Taker.
See, the way Kaladin describes it, I feel like he and Shallan are growing into friends, if rather rockily since neither of them are actually any good at it? And Veil-Shallan is confusing her “goddamn he's hot, I'd tap that” feeling(s) with actual I-want-to-be-with-you attraction. It's not quite a love triangle, but I worry that it's going to cause serious complications nonetheless.
Shallan's adopted family isn't the same as yours is, Kal, let her be with her differences. Besides, in giving them purpose, and a different avenue to explore their lives, even those you knew like Gaz aren't the same as they were before.
Ooo, that's… I'm with Adolin on this one, you do not want to let the city fall. Not only would you lose the tactical advantage of the Oathgate, but all those people! The refugees, the Kholinari! For once, Kaladin is thinking of the practicalities; Adolin is considering his home and people.
….that cremling is an important tidbit, isn't it. I'm wondering if the 'bug' means they were bugged.
Ahhh, and here's Shallan thinking about her personalities basically as people separate from herself, once again (which. They're not, they're part of you, even if you can't bring yourself to realize that – the part that wants to be a hero, the part the thinks Adolin too predictable, the part that wants to live unconstrained by the responsibility and structure that you carry with you. It's still a facet of you, even if you've given it a face so you don't have to 'deal' with things yourself.)
tbh, I want to see the Impossible Falls. Sanderson, please tell me there's a sketch of that later in this book.

...honestly, if he saw the picture of Kaladin on the page after, with Veil's touch of lust in its strokes, he'd probably just agree.
[hums very happily at Adolin confirming Shallan's skill as learned effort and worthy of praise, noting her hard work] She needs compliments like that – things that confirm that her skill is beyond just the innate, but attributable to practice and the dedication that she's put into it. It'll help her self-confidence and feelings of worth in herself, Shallan, as well as reinforcing a good viewpoint, especially so when he speaks of Radiants – her – creating art once the war is over.
I'm so glad that Evi taught her sons that it was all right to touch, to hug and to have physical contact – Adolin himself seems a very tactile type, even beyond just my headcanon, and can you imagine if he was deprived of touch? He's probably not granted it much beyond his immediate family anyway, which makes me doubly glad that Shallan is accepting of this particular idiosyncrasy of his.
Oh, Shallan. Those abysmal feelings of self-worth are only making your personality problems worse, and infecting your relationships besides…
Ooooo, he's noticed, even though she doesn't realize it. “Who do you become?” indeed.
“Thank you for being you, Adolin.” '“Everyone else was taken already,” he mumbled.' E x c u s e me while I go scream about this man and his own tendency to change himself to fit the situation and how his own feelings of self-worth likely suffered though all the rejections of him.

And we're back to the slipping of personality. Hello again, Veil-Shallan. Gotta agree with you on that one, sometimes the storm and rain are preferable – both literally and metaphorically.

Well, I have to say that I agree with Vathah here. Better cremation than being soulcast into a statue. That's just creepy. I wonder how that particular tradition started, though, and if it's only practiced in Vorin lands, or all across Roshar?

Chapter Seventy-Eight – The Revel
Another Truthwatcher recording, and the Radiants can somehow deprive the Fused/Parshmen of that 'Voidlight' energy? How? Where does it come from? Does it act in the same way as stormlight, or does it differ from stormlight in about the same measure as, say, hemalurgy does from allomancy? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS, BRANDOSANDO-
'Shallan would be easier [to abandon].' a) Veil is ruthless, but we already knew this. b) This is a reflection of Shallan's thinking, and I worry that she's subconsciously – or even consciously – wanting to subsume her own personality with the ones she's given life to, since she thinks they're more 'worthy' than her true, broken core self.
The windspren are corrupted here too. Syl might not be able to even masquerade as a normal windspren if she'd be setting herself apart by sheer virtue of non-corruption. Again with the smell of mold, though, this time in the wake of the Everstorm as opposed to association with Parshendi or chasmfiend blood! Hmmm, not there's another question – is it just greatshells that have a mold-smell to their blood, or is it all of the standard Rosharan fauna, because that could be an indication of whether they're bonded to spren or not.
Kaladin notes that Azure looks 'very Alethi', but I still have that niggling suspicion of Nalthian in the back of my head, and we know that not only are Returned able to use Stormlight as sustenance in place of Breaths, but they'd be nearly the only non-Rosharan Cosmerans generally taller than even the Alethi...
The people under the influence of the- Ashertmarn, the Reveler, the incarnation of hedonism and gluttony – are definitely under the influence from what we can tell, there's definitely the feeling that these people wouldn't be acting this way if they were 'themselves'. They're drunk on it; most likely, this Unmade's touch is what was affecting Aesudan.
'They moved like fish in a school' – for all that Veil disdains her true, core personality, Shallan's way of viewing the world and her method of description still slips through, informing one as to who the base is that the mask is built upon.
“We were only doing what she asked.” WHO. The queen, the Unmade?
….so. Azure refers to her sword as a her, and doesn't deny anything when Kaladin calls the sword a Shardblade. Points granted towards her being a Radiant.
“I flew.” [SNORTS] It's not as if the truth sounds like anything other than a joke to these people who don't know of Randiants, so why not?
“They're Alethi” - With the way she said that, I'm counting it as points against her being Alethi, even if it turns out she is and just spent time amongst Westerners like Kaladin is thinking, but I'm especially suspicious when she asks her question.
...well, shit. And here we were maybe just about to get some answers. These POVs are bouncing back and forth really quickly, and that's not striking any confidence that this is going to turn out well…
...well. That inner ring is just delightfully creepifying. Thank the Heralds for Pattern, as the Unmade's influence was threatening to break through even Shallan's cracked-yet-fortified mentality (though now we have more confirmation that Veil is there in an attempt to avoid truly facing what she's done).
!!! Voices! Voices that aren't the Unmade speaking to her, and her shadow pointing the wrong way – some sort of influence from Shadesmar! She's lucky that whatever-it-was warned her too. The Mindnight Mother was one thing, trapped beneath Urithiru and just really starting to spread its tendrils, but this… that has been accumulating power, and if she'd sprung the trap they'd all be doomed.
Chapter 79 – Echoes of Thunder
Okay, so the Truthwatcher proposes that the Unmade can be captured, given a 'special prison' and 'Melishi'. But. wtf is Melishi?
Ooop, there's another colour saying, and Azure used it instinctively, like we've seen Zahel/Vasher doing and confusing the hell out of all the Alethi around him. Yeaaaah, I'm pretty convinced that you're a Nalthian of some kind or another.
“Who are you?” That's a long story and perhaps not appropriate when the Voidbringers are attacking, you two!
'his own men' Because of course he's already adopted them and been thinking of them as 'his men', even when he's not their commanding officer – though he yells out orders as if he's the Highmarshal or Prince himself.
EHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH. It's going to blow his cover like nothing else, but come on – try to Lash a Windrunner, will you?
….or, amazingly, managing to use only his senses – that have adjusted to flight – and not any Lashings that would alert the Voidspren.

Oooooo, so, for the Fused/Voidbringers, it's not the spine that an opponent should aim for, but whatever that 'brittle' thing is around the area of it's heart – a gemheart, most likely. Mmm, but while Kal managed to avoid the attention of the Voidspren, there's not way that his stunt (much less surviving said stunt) managed to go unnoticed.
….ooop. Looks like you're standing out as the first to kill a Voidbringer on the Wall, Kal, even before Azure. HEHEHEHEHEHEH. And of course he slips back into command-mode like he's back with the Kholin army, rather than amongst a ragtag group defending Kholinar.
[squints at Azure] ….that cloak… did you try to Awaken it.
AND ANOTHER COLOUR SAYING. YOU'RE A NALTHIAN, I SWEAR. You're just really good at outwardly looking like an Alethi, enough to convince all the Wall Guard.
HEH. At least with that proclamation of authority, she's now decided to listen to him – maybe even trust him.
We shall see.
Chapter Eighty – Oblivious
...that title isn't referring to Kaladin's very-Demi perception, is it? [ba-dum, tiss]
[blinks furiously while attempting to figure this out] So. This Ba-Ado-Mishram must be one of the Unmade, given the last input from the Truthwatchers and the obvious intent now to capture her, since she'd the one prolonging the conflict and providing the source of power to the Parsh(men?(endi?). But that 'she provides Voidlight' - !!!!! that doesn't come from Odium himself, but one of the Unmade?
“After fleeing the Oathgate platform, she'd met up with Vathah” - you mean, after he dragged your broken body away from the base of the platform. Jfc, but Radiants can tank some serious damage. And '[g]oing back home would have left her too much time to think' – too much time to be Shallan, thinking of the Unmade and whatever-it-was that addressed you from Shadesmar and even perhaps needing to face who you really are underneath all the masks, mmm?
...methinks your informant/contact is compromised, Veil-Shallan.
[winces] Yeah. Not in the way I'd thought, with the cult, but a more “normal”, yet no less deadly influence. Of course there would be gangs that prey on the weak and manipulate the desperate.
Oh ho ho. So Veil has a limit – she wanted to be the Hero, but when that dream/mirage collapsed, so did she, leaving Shallan – the core, the Real One – without mask to divert away the pain of a death she's going to mark herself responsible for. Veil's the 'streetwise one', the 'darkeyes', the one who tries to be the folk hero, but at her core she's still Shallan – and Shallan only has her mind and imagination with which Veil draws herself; there's not real experience or reality behind the fiction of 'Veil'. Shallan keeps her Veil-mask's speech patterns when she talks to Muri, too, reinforcing the image of Veil as a mask, no matter how strong the created-personality is.
Oh, Shallan. The trauma never stops for you, does it? You tried to paint yourself as a hero, but it backfired in our face spectacularly.
Chapter Eighty-One – Ithi and Her Sister
...have we heard about an Ithi before. Who is this, what is it referencing-
Truthwatcher recording again – I think this makes mare recordings from them than from any other order thus far. As to the 'unintended side effects'… that'd be dullform, I'd bet a handful of spheres on it.
[hums and smiles] A regal name indeed.
Oh Beard. [cackles] Gotta keep up with the story, even if the details shift a little...
!!! The walls are covered in a metal that Kaladin doesn't recognise? Is it aluminum? I bet it's aluminum, isn't it. On top of that, they were brought by Wit? Yeaaaaaah, I see what you're doing here, Sanderson.
But as an aside, Azure has had dealings with Hoid before, and didn't mention what she called him.
She also doesn't pause in jaw-dropped wonder like everyone else when he mentions the abilities of the Oathgate. Mmm, you know and definitely are more than you're letting on, Azure.
Chapter Eighty-Two – The Girl Who Stood Up
Sorry to burst your bubble, last Truthwatcher recording, but… that's not gonna happen. This war will last a while yet.
Shallan's fragile shield is cracking, breaking, leaving her with nowhere to hide – and finally admitting to herself that the masks are a lie to pretend even to herself. It almost seems a harder truth for her to admit than the fact that she killed her mother.
Wit. Thank god you're here, Shallan needs someone with her right now, some point of contact, no matter how small, or she's just going to curl up and wither away.
“I haven't lived her life.” “No. You've lived a harsher one, haven't you?” Another truth that she'd prefer to run from, as that life was suffering, that life broke her – she'd much rather be an assured, streetwise con, but that's not who she is. No matter how much she tries to Be The Mask, Veil isn't truly real – a part of her, yes, but not the separate, competent person she'd rather be, if only so she wouldn't hurt so much.
Oh no, no, don't you start suppressing this again-!
Oooo, more details about the story. Wit knows an older version, less changed by time, doesn't he; or perhaps even the events that became the story in the first place?
'“Skip?” Wit said, aghast. “Skip part of a story?”' Thank the heavens for Hoid injecting some small measure of levity into this moment. Shallan needs as much light as she can get, even while facing the darkness she tries to repress.
Oh. Oh, Hoid. From freezing in shock at her hug in the warcamps, and now to this.

Oh, Shallan, he's right, and finally you're hearing it aloud. You can live, you are worth protecting, even if you can't see it right now yourself. Perhaps not soon, but now that you've heard it… perhaps you can work on accepting it.
Adolin. You stayed up all night with worry for her, didn't you? And even that hug – reassuring yourself and her, you're making yourself The Stable One once more, but you can tell there's something wrong, can't you? So once again, you go for the levity rather than pushing her to explain.
Hah – and then the real levity approaches, because honestly, Kaladin at the head of yet another group of people that he's managed to adopt? Priceless.

Flight Review: Delta (767-400ER) Business Class From Atlanta to Lima
TO THE POINT: Delta’s 767-400ER made a nice option for my recent flight from Atlanta to Lima. The Pros: Delta’s commitment to cuisine and its friendly flight attendant culture. The Cons: The carrier’s fleet of long-haul 767s has started to feel outdated.

After not flying with Delta consistently for several years, I was looking forward to testing out its Delta One business-class seats aboard a 767 on my recent trip to Peru.
Booking
Back in October, Delta was offering some great business-class fares from Los Angeles to Lima, Peru, via Atlanta that started at around $1,300. Fares for similar itineraries usually start at about twice that amount, and since I had a few things I wanted to do in Peru, I decided to book myself a ticket.
My itinerary came to $1,299 and included flights on Delta’s 777 and 767 aircraft.
My flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta would actually be on another long-haul aircraft, a 777-200LR, which Delta flies from Los Angeles to Sydney, while my flight from Atlanta to Lima would be aboard one of the airline’s 767-400ERs.
The total came to $1,299.50 with the domestic portions booking into P (first) class and the international legs into Z (business) class. If I had credited my flights to Delta, I would have earned just 5,885 SkyMiles, 15,369 MQMs and $1,177 MQDs (on the base fare, but not the taxes). But I’ve got Alaska Airlines MVP 75K Gold, so I decided to credit the miles there while I still can, since I would then end up earning 15,952 elite-qualifying miles and a whopping 35,892 award miles from the same itinerary. I used my Chase Sapphire Reserve card to pay for the ticket and earned 3,899 Ultimate Rewards points on top of that thanks to the card’s 3x points travel bonus.
Airport and Lounge(s)
I arrived at Atlanta (ATL) about 10 minutes ahead of schedule, so my layover ended up being just under 90 minutes. That meant, instead of having to book it from a domestic terminal at one end of the enormous airport all the way to the international terminal at the other end, I could take my time and drop by a couple of Delta’s flagship Sky Clubs. At the top of my list was a visit to the newest one in Concourse B, which opened back in September.
I had extra time to check out Delta’s newest Sky Club in Atlanta.
Getting there was easy. I took the train that runs between the terminals, went up the escalator, turned left and there it was. Then, simply take the elevator or a flight of stairs up to the third floor where the Sky Club is.

The check-in agents seemed confused as to why I was there since my flight was out of the international terminal, but I said I just wanted to check out the new lounge during my layover and they let me in — I had access anyway thanks to my international business-class ticket.

There’s also a large bar where you can get house drinks or order premium spirits for a price.

The wine geek in me loved seeing the Enomatic machines on one side of the bar, where you could purchase tastes and whole glasses of various wines selected by Delta’s Master Sommelier, Andrea Robinson.

There was also a buffet with light bites and snacks when I visited around 4:30pm.

Other than that, I liked the way the lounge was set up with lots of discrete little seating arrangements and a ton of light thanks to windows overlooking the tarmacs.

I was especially taken with the high-profile leather chairs because they afforded a lot of privacy if you wanted to work or have a quiet phone conversation without disturbing the other guests.

I didn’t spend too much time in there though — I wanted to get to the international terminal before my flight — so I went back downstairs and hopped back on the airport train.

In another few moments, I emerged in the international terminal and took the escalator up a floor from the main terminal to check out the Sky Club there.
Though it was smaller, I really liked this lounge as well. The check-in agent said, “Where are you headed tonight, Mr. Rosen? Lima! How exciting.” It was just sort of charming.

To the right of the check-in desk was the main seating area with more of those high-profile red chairs, some regular armchairs and a high-top communal table, plus a few workspaces. There’s also a little seating area up another flight of stairs that seemed nice and quiet.

Meanwhile, back on the main floor, the bar was behind the check-in area, and beyond it was another quiet area with some tables and chairs.

The real draw here, though, has to be the outdoor deck overlooking the control tower and tarmac. It has another, smaller bar and was packed to the gills because it was twilight and the temperature was lovely.
It was a perfect night out on the Sky Deck.
I didn’t have too long to plane-gaze since my flight was already boarding. So I downed a caramel-chocolate chip cookie and a glass of lemon-infused water and headed to my gate. Main cabin boarding had already begun by the time I got there, so I just went through the Sky Priority lane and walked right down the jet bridge and onto the plane.

Cabin and Seat
Business class on Delta’s 767-400 is a single, large cabin with 40 seats in all (that’s more than on its 777-200s) arranged in a staggered, front-facing 1–2–1 configuration of 10 rows.

A and D seats in the odd-numbered rows have a large armrest on the aisle (which is the foot cubby of the seat behind it), with the seat itself closer to, but not flush against, the window. I opted for one of those since it meant more isolation from aisle traffic.

The seats in the center section, meanwhile, sort of shift either to the right or left, with the larger armrests on one side or the other of each seat to accommodate the feet of the passengers seated behind.

Each seat is 21 inches wide, reclines to a fully flat length of between 77-81 inches and has its own power plug and USB port for charging, situated just under a small seat-side reading light.

There’s an overhead light controlled by the same handheld remote that works with the IFE system that’s stowed in the seat’s wider armrest.
The wide armrest also contains the table, which sort of pops and flips out, and can slide forward and backward by a few inches depending on what’s most comfortable. The seat controls are also here and are fairly rudimentary, but still effective. One button controls the seat-back and the other controls the leg rest, while two others maneuver the seat into pre-set positions for lie-flat mode and takeoff/landing.

One of Delta’s signature amenities is the fact that it has partnered with Westin to offer the brand’s Heavenly Bedding, including a fluffy pillow and lightweight duvet, to business-class passengers. I hadn’t experienced these before, and found them to be extremely comfortable.

The bed in lie-flat mode was pretty comfortable, too, though it wasn’t totally totally 180-degrees flat. The seat-back was slightly elevated, but still comfortable.

Now for the negatives. I’m 5’8” and all of 150 pounds or so, and I don’t have huge feet, so I don’t take up a huge amount of room. While I was comfortable sleeping on my back and sides and found the foot space to be sufficient, I can imagine that anyone taller or broader than me might have a few issues with the seat — indeed, TPG himself has mentioned feeling cramped in these particular models on many occasions.
I can understand how the bed might feel cramped for taller travelers.
That being said, I found it to be more than adequate and got a solid two hours of uninterrupted sleep thanks to the comfort of the bedding, the separation from the aisle by the large armrest and a thin privacy screen shielding the seat from the aisle.
The other drawback to the seat was the strange lack of storage — there was literally nowhere to put any of your belongings. Sure, you could plug in your phone and leave it on the armrest, but I ended up just shoving my laptop into the little crack between the thin armrest and the seat cushion so I could have it with me in case the seatbelt sign remained on for a while after takeoff.
One more thing to note, the seat is moved by small motors, so you can hear it — and in some cases feel it — when your neighbor is adjusting his or her seat.
In-Flight Entertainment and Amenities
Waiting at my seat, I found noise-cancelling headphones to use with the in-flight entertainment system, which consisted of a seatback-mounted touchscreen (though you can also control it with a handheld remote) showing options from Delta Studio, the airline’s on-demand and streaming entertainment service.
The screens seem pretty small.
The screens seem pretty outdated and minuscule at this point. To my eye, they measure just 13.3 inches, which, keep in mind, is how big the screens in Delta’s new premium economy are going to be. So this is one respect in which Delta’s international business-class product just doesn’t seem to measure up, not only to international interlopers like the ME3, but also its domestic competitors, who are installing 15-18 inch screens on their current and imminent business-class products. Not to beat Delta up too much about this, though — the carrier’s forthcoming Delta One Suites will have 18-inch screens, so that’ll be a big improvement.

Delta Studio has around 300 movies and 750 television shows, as well as a wide variety of music and video games you can view on the IFE screens or stream to your own devices. There were only about 10 new releases in the movie section though, and I saw about the same number of TV shows, plus a few selections from HBO and Showtime that the airline also offers. The rest all seemed to be in the back catalog.
The plane also offers Gogo Wi-Fi but be aware that your domestic subscriptions won’t work, so you’ll end up paying about $28 for a 24-hour pass. Which isn’t bad if you’re flying on a longer flight like Atlanta-Johannesburg, but it did seem steep for a six-hour flight like this one.
In terms of other amenities, Delta hands out little soft-sided TUMI amenity kits to business-class passengers. Inside are the usual suspects, like ear plugs, striped socks for warmth, mouthwash, a toothbrush with Crest 3D White toothpaste and a TUMI-branded eye mask.

There was also lip balm as well as grapefruit hand and body cream with aloe vera and oatmeal from Kiehl’s. I liked the pen that was included, which I later used to fill out the Peru customs forms.

Food and Beverage
The menus on my flight were created by one of Delta’s celebrity chef partners, Michelle Bernstein, while the wine lists came courtesy of the airline’s Master Sommelier, Andrea Robinson. To start, there were Blackberry Farm black-pepper citrus walnuts and almonds that were pretty savory. I had them with a glass of aromatic Urban uco Torrontés from Argentina.
The appetizers included three dishes: smoked salmon rolls with crème fraiche, dill and micro-greens along with a topping of salmon roe; a plate of roasted root vegetables with Manchego and sunflower-seed vinaigrette; and coconut-lentil soup with chive crème fraiche.

I thought the soup was tasty and fresh and the smoked salmon rolls were a nice, briny way to whet the appetite, but the root vegetables were pretty bland, even with the cheese, and the vinaigrette just tasted like balsamic.
The main courses included coq au vin with mushrooms and egg noodles, pumpkin lasagna with Swiss chard and Fontina, a chilled plate of oak-roasted salmon with hearts of palm and avocado, and five-spice pork tenderloin with rice and stir-fried vegetables. Instead, I opted for the seared short rib with orzo risotto, roasted cremini mushrooms and baby carrots.
I ordered the steak for my main dish.
Though simple (or maybe because it was simple), I thought the dish was delicious, although the cut of meat seemed more like tenderloin than short rib. It was tender and juicy, the orzo was creamy and the vegetables were not overdone. I stuck with the Argentine wines and paired my meal with a glass of Casillero del Diablo Cabernet-Syrah blend that was full-bodied but not overwhelming.

For the final course, there were several choices. I decided against the selection of cheeses, which were served with fresh fruit and fig compote, and instead got the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. There were also made-to-order sundaes. I decided to try the cake with a Cálem 10-Year Tawny Port, which was decent but not memorable.

Among the other wines being served were a Gardet Brut Premier Cru Champagne, Calera Central Coast Chardonnay from California and Villa Antinori Toscano Rosso IGT Super Tuscan from Italy.
There was also an extensive selection of spirits and non-alcoholic beverages, plus Heineken, Miller Lite and SweetWater 420 Extra Pale Ale on the beer section of the menu. The coffee came from Starbucks and tea from Harney & Sons.
Over the next couple of quiet hours, there was a basket of snacks out in the galley, though I didn’t partake. Then, about 70 minutes before landing came the second meal service. The choices were a turkey caprese sandwich on rosemary ciabatta or chicken satay and Asian noodle salad with julienned cucumbers, carrots, red pepper, snow peas and Asian dressing that tasted like soy-ginger to me, since that’s the dish I opted for. Honestly, I probably could have and should have done without the second meal since it was served at about 11:30pm Lima time and we were getting in just in time to go to bed, but I nibbled on it just to have a try and thought it was fresh and flavorful.
There was a pre-landing snack, and I chose the chicken with Asian noodles.
Overall Impression
I haven’t flown in Delta One business class before, so I had really been looking forward to my experience. On the downside, the seats felt anything but state-of-the-art, and the fact that the carrier’s crammed 40 of them into a single large cabin takes away from the exclusivity of the experience. The seats in lie-flat mode will feel cramped to some as well.
In terms of soft products, I liked the simple-but-complete TUMI amenity kit and the Westin bedding, which was really comfortable. The food was the best I’ve had on a US business-class flight, though not on an international carrier.
The main element I truly appreciated, though, was the crew. Though Delta has probably the best reputation for having friendly flight attendants, it still came as something of a delightful surprise to experience it for myself. The FAs were energetic, friendly, courteous and full of good humor for the whole flight. The food service was efficient but unrushed. Beverages were never left empty. Call button rings were answered quickly. And, in general, the flight attendants managed to walk the fine line of being chummy but solicitous of passengers, so they got high marks from me.
All in all, it was a pleasant experience, and one that was more than worth it for the price I scored on this itinerary.
