Three Sentence Prompt game time!!!

I haven’t done one of these in a while and I want to write but can’t figure out what to write. So let’s play!

Leave me an ask with a word or phrase and I will include it directly in a mini fic response

MR question: Has your favorite character from the canon books changed since you first read them? Or conversely, was there a character you weren’t a fan of but now find more interesting, even if it’s just conceptually?

From the flock, my favorite character has remained Iggy, though the reasoning behind it has changed drastically— I first read the books in elementary school, when most of my peers were just starting to become interested in relationships and developing fictional crushes, and I wanted so badly to be allosexual that I plopped Iggy on the "fictional crush pedestal" and declared him my favorite.

Now, I feel that my love towards Iggy is a lot more in line about how he contrasts from the rest of the flock as someone who's calculating instead of reactionary (he jumps to bombs and traps, meaning that his violence is pre-meditated instead of purely in the moment), and the intersection between devotion/familial piety and ruthlessness that he displays in the first couple of books.

That being said, looking at the books in general, my favorite character is now Mike, due to his baffling recurrence throughout the series despite all logic saying he shouldn't keep showing up, and how strong and unapologetic his character intro was. Like, he was one of the few characters in the series that was never thrown by the flock's attitude, and responded with a bluntness that speaks of someone who has given up pretenses of shame. Mike from the subways/Michael Rivers from the Bronx/Grey/Maze/Gr3yHav3n is my certified blorbo and I love him, and I'm declaring all of his nicknames as canon.

As for other characters that I don't remember liking but now rotate in my brain more than I have any right to:

I was not originally a fan of Nudge, because I was not immune to sexism. However, she is so important to me now. The person who can talk, the person who strives to be human, the person who is so lonely in being the only member of the flock to consider herself human. She deserves so much. I love her.

I originally hated all of Fang's gang, and I still have mixed feelings about how they were used in-canon, but at least they acted like they liked each other and enjoyed each other's company, which is better than how the flock treated each other by the time of the late series.

Devin, because he showed up, monologued to an empty room, nearly assassinated Max, and promptly blew up. What a fucking legend. 10/10 best antagonist.
