author's thoughts. muichiro the beloved <3333 hes my favorite ever fr, he deserves so much happiness.

he adores his mentor so so much!! admittedly, he does show it in odd ways, but he really appreciates them in ways words cannot adequately describe.

when muichiro's on solo missions, he sends them little letters detailing the shapes he saw in the clouds. sometimes he even sends them shiny or textured rocks because he thought they would like them! it becomes very cute once one learns to understand his love language. he also gives them origami figures every now and then.

^ additionally, before their solo missions, he gives them origami cranes as a sort of good luck charm.

they have a history of becoming livid when the fragile things get crumpled by demons during missions. how dare they? that was a gift from their tsuguko, you know? they know the little paper cranes are easily replaced, and yet... it just makes them so sad to see them crushed.

the gifts he gives them are, for the most part, either handmade or non-traditional (rocks, a pretty shaped leaf, etc). sometimes he'll see something like a hairpin that he thinks they'd like, and so he buys it for them. any and every gift he gives them is appreciated, because just knowing that he remembers them better than almost anyone else and even thinks about them voluntarily is so heart-warming <3

he still calls them '[name]-sama,' even after he himself becomes a hashira. it's an improvement from '[surname]-sama,' sure, but they still insist he doesn't need to call them any such honorific anymore.

"[Name]-sama... that cloud, what's it called again?"

"I'm not your mentor anymore, Mui-kun," they commented with a little smile, hand raking gently through his silky hair. "You don't have to refer to me like that. It's okay to just call me [Name]. We're equals now, you know."

"No," he muttered his opposition, "you'll always be [Name]-sama to me."

"I only trained you for a brief... hmm, two months, was it? I'm not sure, but the point is that I trained you for a very short time."

"Doesn't matter."

"Hehe, I see. ...That's a cumulus cloud, by the way."

sometimes the two will cloud gaze together and just end up napping peacefully. both of them are light sleepers as a result of their job, but light doesn't necessarily mean restless.

mui associates them with the clouds—cloud breathing is their breath style, after all—and has often wondered about them when he cloud-gazes alone. are they okay? is their mission going well? is an annoying junior bothering them? he'll gladly tell them off if [name]-sama is too nice to.

he misses them a whole lot when they aren't around.

the mist hashira respects and trusts his mentor very deeply. he totally goes to them for like... everything.

cooking together is a very common thing for the duo; they love teaching him how to cook and bake and he loves learning. it reminds him of something he can't quite remember; simpler times, perhaps? they think it's very sweet that he's so willing to learn as long as they're the one teaching him.

they tend to his (minor) wounds, send him off on missions with snacks, braid his hair nicely so it stays out of his face... it's like he's been given a second chance at having a family. not that he remembers his first one, but still.

he sticks close to their side more often than not because of this.

muichiro is a little posessive of their attention, especially if they're doting on other junior demon slayers that are closer to his age (e.g., tanjiro, zenitsu, and inosuke). he gets a little jealous but takes great pride in being introduced as their former tsuguko. he's just worried they'll forget about him is all.

"silly mui-kun," they had once teased when they realized what was going on, "i'd never forget you. you don't need to be jealous; you're my favorite junior. ♡"

the other hashira find the attached behavior very endearing—he clings to them constantly, following them around like a lost puppy. it's moments like those in which the others are reminded that he's only a child that had his youth stolen from him far too early, so he subconsciously clings to the one person that really makes him feel safe and loved as every child should feel.

he accepts every gift from [name] with grace and humility. every single thing they give him is kept in pristine condition, even if it's a silly little trinket they picked up on one of their missions because "it's the same color as the ends of your hair, mui-kun." ridiculous!! ...what? he doesn't have to take it if he doesn't want it? no, back off, he's keeping it forever.

he especially loves all those silly gifts. knowing that someone he loves thought of him while they were away makes him all fuzzy and warm inside <33

[name] would be so protective of him. they know how many tsugukos shinobu has lost. to experience that... the thought alone makes them tremble with fear.

they're terrified that one day they might feel that pain too.

no-one will take their student from them, not when he's so young and has his entire life ahead of him. they will not allow it, even if it should cost them theirs.

"mandy it's not his fault he can't be here, he's literally in a another country fighting a war right now. i'm sure he's just as heartbroken about it as the rest of us." you sighed to your sister in law.

it was the twins' fourth birthday, you and your sister's wife mandy, were in the kitchen prepping the food for their birthday party in 20 minutes.

"i don't know, i just think he should've asked for the time off. he knows when his kids' birthdays are." the blonde said as she cut up some strawberries.

"he can't just request time off in his job. his job isn't like a 9-5 mandy."

you were starting to get frustrated with the conversation so you just decided to change the topic and turn the attention towards the stars of the day, the twins.

"anyhow, the twins are going to wake up from their nap any minute now so i'm gonna go upstairs and shower really quick before i lose the opportunity."

"alright, i'll start bringing the food and games outside."

"okay, bug and matthew should be out there setting up the tables and decorations so ask them for help if you need it. when is erin coming back again?"

"she said she'd be back just after the party started, she needs to go pick up the rest of lyla and luka's gifts."

"gifts? plural? mandy, you two already brought like four seperate bags of gifts! they're four they don't need this much." you replied with a laugh, disbelief overtaking you as mandy reveals her and your sister were absolutely spoiling your children.

"they deserve it! plus, i promise, you'll like this last part she's getting too. now go! go! get your shower."

"god, you two are insufferable." you mutter, mostly to yourself, with a slight laugh as you walk up the stairs to get to your room and take a quick shower.

almost immediately after you step out of the shower and wrap a towel around yourself, the cries of one of the twins rang through the house, their cries triggering the cries from their twin. you let out a soft sigh and dried yourself off as quickly as possible and slipped on your bathrobe, making your way to the twins' room.

"awake from your nap my darlings?" you say softly as you enter their room and approach their separate cribs.

lifting luka from his crib first, you hold him out for a moment and then bring him close, pressed to your chest.

"happy birthday, my sweet pumpkin." you say softly, rocking the crying infant whose cries die down slowly now that he is in the arms of someone safe and loving.

you walk over to lyla's crib, adjusting luka in your arms to carry him in just one so you can reach in a hand to lyla to let her know you're there.

her cries begin to cease as she grabs at your hand.

"hi there baby, did you nap well angel? happy birthday~" you coo at her.

lyla nods as she grabs at your fingers.

"i'm gonna put your brother in here with you for a moment so i can go get your outfits." you tell her with a smile as you set luka in the crib with lyla.

you turn to their dresser and pick out their outfits for the party, you suppose you'll just have to get dressed in a few minutes.

it was a bit of a struggle to get the outfits on thr twins, both having woken from their naps with a lot of energy meanth they were wiggling around as you were trying to change them and that only prolonged the task.

eventually though, you were successful and placed the two down onto the floor and smiled at them. "goodness, look at how cute you two are... gotta take a picture for daddy, yeah? look at mummy, smile!"

you take your phone out from the pocket if your bathrobe and snap a picture of lyla and luka, adorable smiles on their faces.

a small twinge of sadness pokes at you as you take the picture, sad that simon will only get to see them on their birthday through a picture. celebrating his babies' birthday alone on base.

nonetheless you shake off your negative thoughts and pocket your phone once more, picking the twins up and carrying them both back to your room so you could keep an eye on them as you tried your best to get ready in time for the party

you were now 40 minutes into the party, games being played, the bunch of kids in your backyard ran around and laughed happily. you scanned the area, taking note of where all your own children are.

bug was playing in the dirt with lyla, probably looking for critters, something they bonded over frequently.

matthew was playing tag with luka and some of the other little kids, letting them tag him as they played.

"erin should be back in about five or so minutes." mandy says from behind you, causing you to jump a little at the suddenness.

"jeez! oh, okay.." you reply, putting a hand over your heart to calm yourself as you laughed a little from nerves.

"we should probably start opening presents, yeah?" mandy suggests, motioning to the overflowing presents table.

you couldn't say you didn't spoil your kids, that's for sure.

"yeah, you're right." you nod and begin to call out to the guests and your family.

"guys! it's time for presents and cake!"

"present!" you hear luka scream excitedly, beginning to try and run over to you.

you laugh at his cuteness and sit down, letting everyone gather around, situating the twins on your lap while they open their presents.

you were almost to the end of all the presents when you heard the patio door slid open and closed, erin walking through with a few bags in her hands.

"so sorry i'm late! but i have lots of presents!" she calls, waking over to you and the twins as she holds up the bags.

"here, here, take them." she says, pushing them all onto the table.

"thanks erin, you really didn't have to get this much." you reply with a laugh, letting both of the twins reach out to try and grab the bags, you make sure they grab their own bags, watching as they opened them excitedly.

"okay, erin and i have one more present, but it's for all five of you. gimme just a minute, i'll be right back with it, it's a big gift." mandy says as the twins finish opening their presents.

this makes you look at erin and mandy, a confused and almost worried look on your face. you knew your sister and her wife pretty well and there's so many ways this could go.

mandy runs into the house as everyone at the party waits in anticipation for whatever the hell mandy could've brought.

when mandy returns, her gift is the very last thing you expect.

simon walks through the back door with her, a smile on his unmasked face.

"daddy!" lyla squeals loudly, wiggling from your lap to run over to simon, hugging his leg as she cried from her overwhelming happiness.

"dad?!" you hear matthew and bug yell in shock, both of their voices cracking.

matthew full on runs into simon's arms, hugging his father as tight as he possible could as he also cried, overwhelmed by shock and happiness. he sobbed hard into simon's shoulder as simon chuckled and rubbed his back. "missed you too bud."

"oh my god.. simon?" you say softly, getting up from your seat as you keep luka in your shaking arms.

"c'mere, love." simon responds, motioning in a come hither motion to you.

like you were on autopilot, your feet carried you and luka over to simon, joining in on the family hug. bug was the last to join, wrapping their arms tightly around simon from behind.

"i missed you all so much..." simon says softly, quiet enough for just your sweet little family to hear.

"we missed you too dad." matthew says between sniffles, his emotions still getting the best of him.

"and happy birthday to my two little rascals, you're... three now right?" simon says, teasing the twins.

"no! daddy silly! we dis many." lyla says with a giggle, holding up four fingers in her father's face.

"ah yes, my mistake princess." he chuckles and gives her little head a kiss.

this was definitely the best birthday party you could've ever had for the twins.

Ever since you decided to date, your partners were always demanding. Asking you to do their laundry or make meals for them, or such. You didn't find any issue with that really, you grew up taking care of your younger sibling so you kind of grew used to being the one to do chores around the house.

You recently moved into Wanda's apartment, and you couldn't be any happier. You loved Wanda more than anything, and you appreciated a little company. As you were used to, you took over the chores around her apartment. At first, Wanda didn't think much of it, she just thought that you were friendly and helping her.

But then you started doing it more often that Wanda felt the need to tell you to relax a bit since you were doing everything around the house and you seemed so tense. But you were confused and said "Aren't I supposed to do chores since we're dating?"

You were met with a confused look from Wanda trying to think why you said such thing and then you continued: "I've been doing this with the people I've dated before and they seemed to like it," You said with a smile on your face.

The first thought that crossed Wanda's mind is that you were used and you didn't know. She knew that sometimes you thought the best of people even if they don't deserve it, but she never thought that something like this happened.

"Detka, no, you aren't supposed to do chores alone, I can help you," She replied and you tilted your head in a questioning manner. "But everyone else said that that's what I'm supposed to do," You said. She sighed and couldn't help but move closer to you to hold you in her arm. She felt like she can protect you this way.

"I know, but they were wrong, you shouldn't have let them walk over you," She whispered and you started to think to all the times where they demanded something ridiculous at an ungodly hour but you still did it out of love. Now felt stupid.

"I was used," You whispered more to yourself than to Wanda. "I know, but it's over know, you've got me, I will never let anyone treat you like that ever again," You weren't listening. You couldn't. All this time, they were being toxic to you and you were oblivious. Before you knew it, your eyes started to tear up.

"Oh no detka, shhh, it's okay, don't cry, I won't let anyone do that to you, I promise," She said while gently rubbing your back. "I know, but I just can't get rid of the fact that I was so oblivious to all their doings," You sobbed. "I know, and we both won't let that happen to you ever again and I give you my word," She replied.

You sat there with Wanda holding you in her arms as she slowly started to rock you back and forth while rubbing your shoulders until you fell asleep. Meanwhile, Wanda was plotting revenge. How could they mess with you? How could they manipulate you like that?

plus can we discuss that you taught aaron how much he loves the feeling of being needed??? 🥺 i think it's kinda plausible that yeah, he's always felt needed. he's needed in the field, to the team as a leader, he's needed in the whole fbi department and such as a whole. everyone knows who he is, he has endless connections, but it's different. it all relates to his work ethic and professionalism. it's how people view him, and so he forgot what it was like to feel needed in a more personal and intimate way :((( so more often than not he isn't able to just let go, give in, feel vulnerable, to be human, because he never felt like he had the room to. his divorce with haley also contributes. like she's the one who initiated she wanted the divorce first, so just imagine how he must've felt in that moment :( def not needed :( that he wasn't worth it :( or when he came home to her being gone :(((((( so when you immediately meet him at the door when he gets home, it means so so so so much more to him than you know :(((( because part of him fears that at some point, you won't need him anymore too :(

so at first when you expressed clinginess, the man is confused as hell :( it's something he's never received to this extent, and oh my god he had no idea how much he needed it. he's genuinely shocked when you come home from the mall or whatnot and you've gotten him something that reminded you of him. he's like?? you thought of me?? his reaction breaks your heart a bit, because no one has really ever made him special and :((( how could they do that??? he's this amazing man and here he is questioning whether or not he deserves something as little as socks or something :(. 11. what non-fiction books do you like if any?

oooh ok ok so when I was a kid my parents had a whole STACK of these nonfiction books for kids called "I wonder why" and each one had like. a different theme. my favorite one was "I wonder why triceratops had horns (and other questions about dinosaurs)" and the whole book was about dinosaurs and answering different "questions" that kids might ask about them. and bro I ate that shit UP. I think my family had about 15 to 20 of these books, in a range of topics from extinct animals to ancient egypt to reptiles to plants, and I used to stack them all in a big pile on my bedroom floor and just read each one, cover to cover, one by one. I must've read those books at LEAST 7 times each, and I loved them soooo much. a lot of the topics are STILL interesting to me (like dinosaurs and extinct animals and ecosystems) and it was so funny because the other day my mom was talking about all the old books the family used to have and she offhandedly mentioned those ones and said something like "yeah none of the kids liked them so they just sat on the shelf :(" and I had to tell her that I actually had them mostly memorized at one point lmao

the series had a revamp pretty recently so most of the search results are the new covers but here's one of the old ones that I used to have :]

20. what are things you look for in a book?

mostly I just look for a good time !!! I loooove complicated/fascinating worldbuilding, like with six of crows, and I also want to be reading about characters who I like/connect with !! if the book is romance-centric I'm less inclined to want to read it UNLESS it's very well written (six of crows is largely about romance but they're all sooooo well crafted that I just ??? love them all ???? and it's also balanced out by the platonic dynamics and overall worldbuilding and plot so they're very enjoyable to me even though the romance plays a big part in it) BUT OVERALL I just wanna have a good time yknow

oh this boy. this poor boy.

i like to think that he goes through random bouts of sadness and frustration, especially before he regains his memory; he doesn't even know where his deep-seated rage towards demons come from! that fact just perpetuates his frustration. he can't understand why he's so angry and that only serves to anger him more.

also, let's not forget that he's a child. he is a fourteen-year-old child. he has a hard time processing his feelings and working through his trauma alone. children need love and support, love and support that he does not get enough of.

(the other hashira try their best, but let's be honest—they're all always so busy. they wouldn't realistically have time to attend to the emotional needs of a child.)

i don't care how independent canon muichiro seems to be.

he is a child. he grew up too fast.

to ease his soul, i think the best course of action would simply be to dote on him.

he needs the attention. he really does.

dote on him.

brush and braid his hair (braiding it would have practical value, after all!) with his permission, cook for him... just small, familial gestures.

he may or may not cry.

if he does, squeeze his hand and run your thumb over his knuckles. he's like a cat; do not make any further contact unless he initiates it first.

kyojuro is an interesting one!

i personally think that doing little domestic things with him would be a good way to cheer him up.

or even just doing things with him, spending time with him.

take a walk! go out to eat! make friendship bracelets! any activities done together are always a good bet with kyojuro.

simple little gestures are definitely the way to go, too. he's got a big heart. it's really not too hard to cheer him up, as long as your efforts are genuine.

also, definitely give him a big hug. he'd love that. squeeze him like your life depends on it. it won't hurt him; he's a hashira. he'll be fine.

i headcanon that he's a very good cook!

he is, however, a disaster with baking.

doing things like cooking and baking with him would raise his spirits so so effectively. trying to teach him how to bake would be really good for making him laugh, because i guaruntee that you & him would end up covered in flour and shit like that LMAO

be sure to listen to him talk if he decides on opening up. he'll appreciate having someone that listens.

U. TENGEN—

we all know this man is flashy and loud!

because of this, i think the best way to cheer him up would actually just be sitting in the silence with him.

no words, nothing. just calm silence between two friends.

observe the stars at night with him. listen to the wind rustle leaves and blades of grass.

anything that's simply low effort and relaxing would be good for him, i think. he's got so much energy all the time. tengen spends so much time being... loud and—obviously—flashy.

because of that, every now and then, he needs quiet time to recover.

he needs to decompress sometimes.

like kyojuro, i think he'd appreciate a good hug too. in his case though, it would be best and most effective to hug him once he's feeling better, not while he's feeling bad.

with his permission, massage the tension out of his shoulders. that would help too.

really, he just needs a judgement-free safe space in which he can wind down. i don't imagine him as the type to vent, so that's not something he'd be doing. he just needs someone who understands his need for the quiet, someone who won't pressure him to open up when he just isn't ready to.

he just needs a friend to be there for him.

3. what is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?

my writing ritual is that i have to be peacefully sitting in bed at night without a care in the world, otherwise i feel stressed and can't write anything. so, naturally because i only write at night i either fall asleep and don't write a single word, or i stay up 'til dawn typing nonsenses like YAAAAAAAASSSSSSSS 😈 and then i don't function properly the next day, therefore i neglect my responsabilities, and that's exactly why it's cursed. 💀

7. what is your deepest joy about writing?

hm... it's going to sound very crazy-like but i love when i'm writing a new story and the characters are so alive in my mind that sometimes i think about them like they're real people, and then i can add whatever i want in the story and make them happy or make them suffer because i'm mean. and i also live to see people's reaction to my stories. like, it doesn't happen much here on tumblr, specially because i don't post many chapters stories (i'm working on it), but i have a few books on wattpad and it just gives me life when someone reads it and falls for the characters, or hate them, and get so much into the story and leave their reactions as they go - it's my favorite thing.

39. what keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?

ok, this is cliche af but reader's comments and reactions. like, yes, i know technically we write for ourselves and we share because someone else may also like that, but if someone says they don't appreciate/need the support they're lying! everyone loves a little appreciation on their job, whatever it may be. we are humans, we crave support, it's natural.

that being sad i have a collection of my favorite comments and reactions to my stories over the years and i think of them fondly every now and then. like, the top one is probably when a girl in my high school said i needed to become a writer and publish my stories because the world needed and deserved to know them - that was one of the most beautiful things anyone had ever said to me.

and, you know, i also remember how writing and creating worlds and characters has helped me cope with a lot of shit that has happened to me in the past (and a little bit in the present). like reality sucked, but i could create a character who was actually me and put her in a better world, give her what she deserved, and this has helped me tremendously.
