My fellow multishippers, do you have a certain pairing where you’re happy to ship Character A with others, but Character B is only allowed to be with A?

That’s me with Arthur and Francis, respectively. I can ship Mr. Slutty Englishman with almost anyone (USUK, PrUK, SpUK, PortEng, etc.) but France is totally different. Unless he’s joining their Dover strait, I don’t want it. Any other relationship is just “pre-canon” for the eventual FrUK which happens later. Like sometimes I’ll ship a little Auld Alliance era ScotFra, but it’s with the knowledge they’ll eventually break up and be replaced by FrUK. Meanwhile if Arthur gets together with someone else, Francis just stays alone. Arthur finding non-French love means Francis becomes le bachelor eternal

Which is all terribly unfair to poor Francis, but the shipper’s heart wants what it wants so whaddya gonna do heh

I was watching a YouTube review for The Secret History, and the person voiced that there was nothing sad about Bunny’s death and that one could really only be happy about it, and that Francis was just there vibing the whole novel, not doing anything wrong. And that’s when I clicked off the review. I mean, this is fiction so you’re welcome to be happy Bunny died. He’s not real and also functions as a part of a story, and if you’re glad he’s out of there, fine. But I’m sorry I just do not think that was a happy occasion or that Francis was “just vibing.” 😭

Francis's heart felt like it was pounding out of his chest, the rhythmic thumping of the machines that surrounded $name's bed only adding to his anxiety. He couldn't bear to see his sibling in this condition. Tubes snaked out from under the blankets, connected to various monitors and IV bags. The beeping of machines filled the room, the only sound apart from Francis's quick footsteps.

He paused for a moment, looking down at Melon. The stuffed rabbit had been his constant companion since he was a baby. He had brought it to the hospital to keep him company, but also as a source of comfort for $name.

"They like it when Melon is around," Francis had told his mother when they were packing their bags for the hospital.

Now, as he walked back and forth, Melon's ears flopped up and down, bouncing along with Francis's steps. He looked up at his mother, his eyes full of fear.

“Mommy, are they gonna be okay?”

Fiona's heart felt heavy as she held her son close, feeling the warmth of his tiny body against hers. "I know, my love," she murmured, stroking his hair. "It's hard to see someone we love hurting. But we have to trust that the doctors and nurses know what they're doing, and that they're doing everything in their power to make $name better."

Francis nodded, but his grip on her tightened. "What if they can't make them better?" He loosened his grip on his mother but kept her close, seeking comfort from her presence. He tried to be strong, to keep his emotions in check, but the fear and worry for his sibling were too much to bear.

Fiona could feel her son's small body trembling against hers, and her heart ached for him. She stroked his hair and whispered soothing words, hoping to ease his anxiety.

"Francis, honey, it's okay to let it out," she said softly. "It's okay to cry and feel scared. We all do sometimes."

Francis looked up at his mother, his eyes red and puffy from crying. He could feel the warm tears streaming down his cheeks, mixing with the snot on his upper lip. He was embarrassed by the mess he was making, but he couldn't stop himself from crying. “I'm sorry mommy," His voice thick with tears. "I’m not strong..and my snot on your shoulder."

“Hey now!” She stroked his hair gently, giving him a small smile. "You are strong," Fiona replied, wiping a tear from his cheek. “Just by being here means you are very strong. Never apologize for feeling emotions, okay? We are meant to feel all this stuff, no matter how good or bad the feelings are. besides; shoulders are built to be cried on! “

honestly the upcoming shutdown of nostlegebraist-autoresponder is making me feel really sad. i’m not gonna get too personal but a lot of people and animals in my life has left or passed away and the death of frank is just another nail in the coffin.
