Big bad wolf as a grim reaper/harbinger of death figure as opposed to being a straightforward antagonist... I think this is a very interesting framing particularly as they keep the title "big bad wolf" in his title card, so it's like... Idk the juxtaposition of the perception of him versus the true nature of him as an entity? If I am reading it right and the wolf is more supposed to represent death than "evil" per se (whatever value the concept of "evil" has in this setting) then I think the way Brennan plays him is pitch perfect, not a "good" force or a "bad" force so much as he is an inevitability
Speaking of complicating that simplistic moral framework of the "big bad wolf" - ylfa's grandma transforming into a wolf, so the grandma and the wolf are perhaps not different and opposed but two sides of the same coin (thought it was really interesting the way Brennan talked about it, like the grandma is not necessarily a disguise bc she is also the wolf but it's not necessarily so simple as they are the same either - maybe they are the same, or maybe part of grandma ate part of the wolf, or maybe parts of them exist in the other, etc. Etc.). But maybe we should put aside the exact details about the relation b/w grandma and the wolf, like I'm not sure that those matter so much as, like, the idea that that duality exists and is real. grandma's line of you can't have the oatmeal raisin cookies without walking through the woods to get there; ylfa is both the little girl and the wolf, and both the potential for the heroic and the monstrous live inside her... Then there’s a voice telling me to get up, When I look to my side, I see a boy holding out his hand to me. He has bright blue eyes, dirt on his face, and a beat-up old cap on, and at this moment, I think he might be the most beautiful boy I’ve ever seen.
“Come on,” he urges. I take his hand.
In the dust and chaos, we hurry down the street and disappear into the afternoon’s lengthening shadows.
this is super old and from back in January when I was rereading Legend, but here’s a short semi-comic of Day and June’s first meeting~

I've already settled on which poses I'm using for each of the drawings, but I figured I'd post the first-draft concepts I did while trying to come up with ideas, seeing as I quite liked some of them even though I didn't take them forward.
Incase anyone is curious, this is a redraw/revamp of an older set of drawings I did of the bad kids (+aelwyn) with various pride flags for the genders and sexualities I headcanon them as having :-)

its so frustrating to me that a lot of aus fundamentally get sans' character so wrong; they don't really want sans, they want either alphys or flowey! edgy aus like dusttale are especially bad for this- it just frustrates me beyond belief. not to mention aus like disbelief papyrus as well, which also get His character incorrect by wanting the whole "nice character finally sees that the world is brutal!" thing...
YEAHHH it makes me so so so mad when they have good designs too like,, u do not.deserve that
it honestly just makes me sad because personally i headcanon sans as a pacifist! bro uses every excuse he possibly can to never fight you in canon and will only ever even try when you’re actively threatening to erase literally the entire world, you can’t convince me for a second anything like dusttale could EVER conceivably happen.
on the disbelief side of things i honestly think it got so big solely because us papyrus fans were fucking starving back then lmao the only other options we had were the flowey possession AUs and underswap!!!!!
