If Gregory, Mia and Mel are Phoenix and Maya's biological kids, does that mean Phoenix and Maya have Done the Deed, so to speak? Or were other methods involved?

Hello friend! I feel like if I gave the “quick” answer to this question, it’s going to be missing a lot of important context, and since I feel like the topic of family planning from a queerplatonic/aroace perspective is seldom talked about, I'm going to go more in-depth.

This is a little long and I know the subject matter isn’t for everyone, so the details along with a mini-comic are below the cut! (Nothing discussed is above the T rating!)

In my AU, Phoenix, Maya, and Edgeworth are all on different places on the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum (cue "Ace" Attorney jokes). It’s also worth mentioning that they're in a queerplatonic relationship, so their orientations don't really matter that much with regards to the polycule. If any of them wanted to pursue a romantic relationship with someone besides each other, it doesn’t break the queerplatonic polycule. However, their orientations does matter with regards to the kids.

One of the fics I'm writing takes place after Spirit of Justice where Maya is starting to seriously think about the future of the Fey Clan lineage. This makes Phoenix anxious, as he's well aware of the history of disastrous marriages in Kurain Village, and hopes to whoever's listening that it doesn't happen to Maya, too. However, he's not attracted to her in that way, so he doesn't get involved outside of being there for moral support.

Extremely long story short, after Maya's disastrous dating life--where she discovers she does not like romantic attention--soul-searching, emotional turmoil, Phoenix and Maya ask themselves why they couldn't have a family together as friends--especially after Edgeworth lectures both of them on separate occasions that they were viewing the situation too romantically. Fey Clan lineage doesn't care about romance, you see.

Obviously how the kids came to be was a huge hang-up. When Maya lamented that she wasn't fond of romantic attention during her moment of self-discovery, Phoenix recommended she have a chat with Edgeworth, who suggested the very unromantic route of donors (and offered to help pay). On a different occasion, when Phoenix was hung up over the birds and the bees, so to speak, Edgeworth suggests that he (Phoenix, to be clear) could be a donor for Maya. That doesn't involve contact, Maya's kids would have a dad who loves them and their mom, it's a win-win.

Unfortunately, well after Phoenix and Maya were already emotionally invested in starting the family together, Maya learns that known donors require a lot more time and money than unknown donors, as well as mandatory therapy. Did I mention money? So, to put a finer point on it, since they felt very secure with their friendship and nothing has threatened it thus far in this situation, they didn't see why they couldn't give the "free" route a shot.

As you might have guessed, given the lack of attraction towards each other in that way... it did not go well. 

It was the straw that broke the camel's back and started to strain their relationship. So much so, that when they were working together in court after trying for a few months, Edgeworth noticed they were irritable towards each other and requested a recess to chat with them...

To sum it all up, while it was far from their first choice, they certainly did give Doing the Deed a shot for the sake of saving time and money, but they found it was too much for them so all three kids were conceived with those at-home kits.

Completely independently of Baldur's let me say I sincerely appreciate your thorough analysis of possible kinds of sexual dynamics Astarion might have. Both as someone who finds sexual dynamics (when applicable) fascinating parts of a person's life and a great storytelling device, and as someone who feels like - just like many other things the internet took and ran away with - get flattened into an almost meme-like shallow quality.

Would love to hear more of those kinds of in depth, character driven explorations of the topic in general, from as many people and as many viewpoints as possible. Hope you don't mind the burst of enthusiasm, it's a topic I have genuine interest in but find hard to discuss, especially in a serious context.

Oh, thank you! I don't get into details here but whenever I write anything for any fandom it's usually based in my interests and also in what I like to experience and what I have experienced and various fantasies of mine. So I'm mostly just drawing from real life experiences with other men who are attracted to men. Whether that is as friends, or as lovers.

And like. I get it. It's easy in this case to reach for the most stereotypical and that may even have been the devs' plan from the start. But my tav Panic is more of a side (someone who is largely uninterested in penetrative sex, who may still participate anyway because it does feel good and makes his partner happy, but is more willing to explore other types of sexual pleasure) and also greyace/demi with fairly low libido, which means the known characterization of Astarion needs a bit of adjusting because it's not as simple as "does he top or bottom".

But also because yes, Astarion is fairly gnc in his personality and body language and vocal tone, but he's also still very much a man, and he is pushy and bratty and snarky and a bit of a control freak regardless of ascension path and honestly? He could do either, or neither, or both. With Panic they switch often depending on mood and body cooperation, since many times Panic's reaction to offered sex is "oh, sure, if you want" because he doesn't value the act as much as the fact that he can experience it with someone he very much likes being around. So mentally he has a little more freedom to be, well, whatever works for the tone.

Your love for things is what I love about following you though! Because I’m here to enjoy things too! So for what it’s worth, I think your blog is pretty cool, and at least if it’s not then we’re uncool together. And now that I think about it, isn’t that the point of fandom? Being ‘uncool’ together? 😂

High five for another uncool person! I admit, I sometimes desperately want to get in with other fans who are writing things that hit me in the metaphorical solar plexus because they're so sharp and have such delicious bite and they're incredibly cool, even when I suspect they would probably find me deeply annoying, but that ultimately I also very much admire people who embrace being silly and goofy and flailing around a lot, because I love those people, too. I pine wistfully sometimes, but then get over it, because I know that if I remade myself into being 'cool', I would only stare even more wistfully over at the people being silly and just having a silly good time. And I want to cozy up to people like you as well, who are so sweet to reach out like this, like I want to talk to people about silly things, I don't want to be intimidating (well, okay, maybe a little, it might be nice for five minutes, but ultimately, no, I want people to feel they can approach me and talk to me genuinely), so I'm just kind of settling in the middle with "acknowledge my genuine desire to be cool, but that it's a temporary want, and the home I really want to make is in the silly goober camp, and then make fun of myself a little in a silly shitpost to get it out of my system". And you are so right! It's not that the cool people don't openly love things as well, they do! But often times they're not as goofy about it (and I find that admirable, none of this is about saying any way of behavior is more right or wrong than any other way!) and they're having fun in fandom in their own way and, who knows, I have met so many genuinely cool people like this that do like me back! I'm just up in my own head sometimes (Star Wars fandom did a number on me), but also I want to agree so wholeheartedly with your ultimate point: It's okay to be uncool in fandom, like we're nerds on the internet, we're watching/reading often very silly stories and there's nothing wrong with embracing that. We can take them seriously, there's a lot of genuinely thoughtful and depthful things to discuss here! But it's also okay to be silly and goofy and sometimes I need the reminder that others are happy to be here with me, too. <3 (Can you tell I'm avoiding cleaning? I regret not being more assertive and standing up for myself earlier, like when all of the godmodding was going on early into my blog - it really was a tough situation because on one hand, I was new to the fandom and the indie RPC and I was happy to have people to write with but at the same time, I hated how so many of these interactions had to involve the other muse/mun being privvy to Ryuji being a Phantom Thief and just throwing these asks and starters into my lap of muses supposedly overhearing confessing, following him and seeing him go into the Metaverse, ending up in the Metaverse themselves somehow. I was still finding my footing and I didn't want to make waves or risk losing people to write with when I was only just starting out, by nature I also hate conflict and didn't want to be that person to be like ' hey, i know you just made a starter for me but can you go back and redo it? not really vibing with it tbh' so for a long time, I didn't say anything until it just got to be too much and I made a post stating my boundary and to this day if someone ever makes a starter that's anything like that, I'm in their IM's right away to ask them to adjust it - if any newcomers ever come to this blog and mention wanting to do Metaverse stuff, it's not something I immediately dismiss but tell them we'll look at doing it later down the line if it works out - if it makes people unhappy or causes them to seek out another Ryuji so be it, but I'm happy I drew this boundary and continue to assert it and I wish I'd done so a lot sooner.

An example I can think of would be with @more-than-a-princess's Sonia - my memory of our first first interactions are foggy but I feel like that was a ship that developed very naturally over time - like we didn't set out to write them together planning for them to be a ship all along, I feel like as we noticed the chemistry and the growing bond between them, we just started to find them really cute and what started as a really cute and endearing friendship has given way to this slow burn relationship and I think it's incredibly interesting because we don't often discuss them in depth and yet the ship just seems to develop without any influence from us. They're two muses who honestly are just really cute together and have a lot of natural chemistry together and that's priceless, I think.

On the one hand, as a transmasc who very much enjoys piv sex and reading about it, I do like having access to fic that caters to that, but you're also absolutely right that Gomems fans almost exclusively writing piv (despite and especially when employing the "effort" fanon) is... hm. Sus at best. Like, yes, many of the authors of those fics are trans themselves, but not only is it not just them writing it, some of the dialogue is also... well. Not ideal. I've read more than one where a penis and vagina were described as like "matching" or "counterpart" to each other and I've also never, ever seen a Gomens fic (not counting "genderswapped" which I'm not even gonna discuss in detail rn but just wanna clarify doesn't inherently make you "problematic" esp if you're a lesbian but is still a can of worms) where both of them have a vagina and that's... well, noticeable for sure...

EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS?: this is a big read on myself, but y'all are my besties so I'll admit that in high school I did Glee roleplay on facebook, so technically I've been doing rp for about 15 years. I got on tumblr rp shortly thereafter, I'd say. my first rp blog on here was Arthur Pendragon and I still write him from time to time. :') This blog is also about 7 years old and I’ve been writing some of these characters for that long!

FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?: all three! I love a good balance of fluff and angst. my muses deserve to be happy, but I also love delving into their issues. smut probably comes in last, because (aside from a few of my muses who are slutssss), it has to be developed a little bit and even so, I don't like to only have smut on here.

PLOTS OR MEMES?: Both. I love memes for both fun and for things getting in depth. Sometimes things do go more easily with a little discussion, and anyone who has tried to plot with me probably knows I'm not great at it ... lol. but I do try, because clarification makes things easier, especially with deeper subjects and ships.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES?: I get carried away so easily and I do tend to fill in extra background thoughts and all that. Not opposed to any length as long as there is something to go off of.

TIME TO WRITE?: first thing in the morning, after getting ready for work/morning routine and having some coffee, I write for about an hour and lemme tell you, it's magical. In stark contrast to that, as soon as the sun goes down, if I concentrate for like an hour, gold! I also love to write when it's rainy/gloomy, and I have a little coffee treat.

✨️Hello my loves, I'm a 19f looking for some Marauders Era Harry Potter roleplays!✨️

I'm a full time student and I work part time, so I try my best to reply somewhat frequently, but sometimes I have more time/muse and other times I have less, and I can absolutely understand the same thing for my partner! I will, however, keep you posted!

Additionally, I love talking ooc, about our characters or the plot, or just about life in general. I want to see the tiktoks, the interest boards, the fanfic, the fanarts, the headcanons, the songs, all of it! Tell me about other things you're passionate about. I don't just want to roleplay, I want to be friendly as well!

I love angst, and am very happy to involve it/some dark themes so long as we discuss them beforehand, although it is not necessary. I'm also entirely open to nsfw aspects so we can 100% discuss that as well! Generally speaking, I don't love to write characters that are more the most "dominant" in those situations.

I write literately and can do novella but I really don't prefer it and will likely burn out. I generally give from 1-5 paras, or from 1k-4k depending on time, muse, and point of the rp! I also def prefer writing on discord because that makes things a lot easier! I do not double or write against oc's, so please don't ask :).

I will also say that I love to give my characters in depth characterizations and things of the sort, and I don't tend to write "macho macho man" characters in the same way that I don't want to write "uwu softboi" characters, and I would prefer my partner not do that as well!

Okay so, I finished The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System just about three months ago and it’s had me by the balls ever since, especially the dynamic(s) between SQQ and LBH.

Like the hyper-fixating writer I am, I took to roleplaying Bingqiu to stave off the crippling brain-rot. That’s been golden and all, but I have one big issue: I’m stuck playing Luo Binghe. Don’t get me wrong, I love LBH to death, but good god, if I have to write him one more time, I’m going to lose it. I’m 99% sure that after three months of constantly writing him, his instability and psychopathic tendencies have begun to rub off on me! I can’t find someone willing to play him for the life of me. I can’t blame anybody. He’s a very complicated character, it took me a good month or so to get my bearings while playing him, but I’ve looked everywhere. Tumblr is my last resort before I go absolutely mental. I would absolutely love to play Shen Quingqiu in a BingQiu-centric RP.

While I am extremely desperate, I still have standards.

To begin with, considering it’s BingQiu, I naturally expect smut. I’ve enjoyed playing LBH during sex scenes, so why not give SQQ a shot? That said, I have hard limits that I expect you to follow. You can find them here. In turn, I will respect your limits. If you’re inclined to, I’m also more than willing to discuss kinks that we’d like to potentially involve.

While I’m keen on smut, PWP is a hard no-go. I’d rather the roleplay be more plot oriented than porn oriented — but again, this is BingQiu. PWP does not just refer to the amount or frequency of smut, but how relevant the smut is to the plot. I understand if a sex scene plays into the plot (Ex: “papapa to save the world” in the sense that it drove the plot along). It can be difficult to pre-plan this, so if it comes down to it, I have no problem voicing my concerns after we get into things, and you shouldn’t either.

I’m a semi-literate/casual-literate writer. If you're hoping to consistently exchange 3+ paragraphs, I'm not your gal. That type of pressure is a one-way road to burn out and writer's block. I prefer that we don't press any certain length, but let the scenes speak for themselves. One liners are the exception, please try to give me as much to go off as you can, and I'll return the effort. I can easily write multiple paragraphs, but I'm not going to push myself to do so, and you shouldn't either. Some scenes call for more/less. That said, I’d appreciate it if you were at least semi-literate.

I’m not interested in playing pre-transmigration Shen Yuan. I’m totally open to AUs, but one way or another, I’ll be playing Shen Yuan as Shen Qingqiu. (Ex: “Proud Immortal Demon Way” occurs in the modern era; Shen Yuan throws a fit while/after reading it, proceeds to die, and then gets transmigrated into Shen Qingqiu’s body in a modern “Proud Immortal Demon Way”. It’s still an AU, but doesn’t affect Shen Yuan’s transmigration.)

I literally beg of you, please give me something more than a "hey" or "I wanna RP" when you reach out to me. It doesn't have to be formal or tacky but please give me something to kick off of. What you go by, your timezone, ideas, kinks/limits, etc. It isn't difficult to give me a couple of sentences and it makes my life infinitely easier.

Honestly I’m kind of blanking on plot ideas right now, but I’m a big fan of canon divergent AUs. SQQ doesn’t self-destruct, SQQ and LBH are separated again (post-canon), etc. I’d be happy to brainstorm some more in depth ideas together.

Misplaced Targets

Let me preface this little review/commentary by saying, I am in 'carpe diem' mode. I don't know what the future will bring, and it's increasingly clear that trying to imagine it is futile based on partial information. So. Lucy was in episode 2x13 - and I very much enjoyed that she was in it. Let's discuss that. And some parallels. 😄

AJ & Kai I was not a big fan of this storyline initially. It didn't really explore the ties between AJ and Kai or the past friendship, and it looked like Kai was pretty fast at turning his back on his former friend and thinking the worst of him. AJ, with his particular brand of charming casualness and flippancy, was growing from annoying to irritating as a character. So, I definitely did not see that plot twist coming, and even though it left me a little confused regarding what AJ did and did not do, I really liked it. AJ went from irritating to oddly sympathetic, and it was impossible not to feel something as he went off the rails after his wife got arrested, and more so as he denied trying to kill anyone.

Kai & Jane The Jane/Kai relationship/bond was a big part of the first half of season 1. I didn't miss it, exactly, but I was very happy to see it back. Jane, as a boss, remains a boss - and by that I mean, her mix of firmness and warmth and care is endlessly impressive to me, and I really enjoyed all the different notes we got in this episode. I think you can tell a good episode when it sparks conversation - and this episode did that. I went from a little annoyed in my first seeing the episode at Kai not heeding Jane's instructions to a realization in my second, more careful watch, that he just kept getting stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time through no fault of his own. I feel like everyone was very true to their characters and this contributing to everything going wrong until it went right is not something I want to unpack as meta right this moment 😆 As for parallels, Jane offering a drink to Kai at the end and checking up on him was reminiscent of 1x11 and also 2x11 when did did the same with Lucy, then Kate. In all cases, the person had had a brush with death/injury. I love, love that this is something she picked up from Maggie, and that she's able to keep the good from Maggie without letting it be soured by the bad. I feel like that's a really hard thing to do, but what a great thing to highlight.

Jesse & Ernie This is another one of those scenes that I wasn't expecting, and made me feel like I didn't know to wish for it. I very much enjoyed it. I love what they've done with Ernie this season - maybe starting back to mid-S1, actually. Where they are using him less as comedic relief and adding layers and depth to his character, taking advantage of what a fantastic actor Jason Antoon is. Hina I love her. Please, more of her. She was hilarious throughout this episode, and I just generally love her nonsense vibe very much. I don't know if there's any way they can make her feature in the show more, but I very much would love that.

Dalia Also love Dalia. Really hope she comes back as a guest star. I'm really glad to get closure regarding her relationship with Ernie as well, which felt like a ball they dropped in S1 a little bit, or rather, left unresolved.

Lucy & Ernie This is one of my favorite dynamics in the show, I'm sure I've mentioned that before. I loved that scene. I assume Yasmine and Jason were both talking to a screen but the rapport felt exactly the same as when they're actually acting off of each other in person. Jesse being jealous that Lucy doesn't video chat with him was a cute moment as well.

Lucy & Kate I'll admit, having Lucy video chat Ernie but only interact with Kate on the phone feels like a bit of an odd choice. This coming after months (in air time) of no Kacy, I'm loathe to criticize it, but it felt slightly off to me (though I can't pinpoint what, exactly). It's hard to have the same energy in a scene when not being physically in the same space, and I feel like Tori maybe did slightly better at that than Yasmine (but Tori had had practice with the second-hand updates). It was still very cute, and I still get a bit of a thrill every time Lucy calls Kate, 'Kate'.

Kate Kate looked incredibly good and confident both on the field and off. I didn't know I needed her to arrest someone, but she's definitely grown as an FBI agent, hasn't she? Love to see it. That said, that's the second time a member of the NCIS team yells at her because they're freaking out (after Jane in 1x13) and while I can appreciate the parallel, and where the characters are coming from, I don't like it. Wish there was some apology though realistically there's probably not enough time for it. I know I've said it before, but I'm so, so impressed by Tori as Kate this season.

Lucy I have missed Lucy so very much. Agent Afloat Lucy Tara was seriously impressive once she actually had something to investigate (I did head-canon that Lucy would complain nonstop if bored, so definitely laughed in glee at her complaining to Kate). And it's been my wish for S2 to see Lucy grow. And, I have to admit, I both saw her grow and didn't, and got the same feeling you get when you haven't seen someone in a while and you start noticing the differences. Confidence is sexy, but so is competence, and Agent Afloat Lucy Tara had both in spades. She aced this investigation, and did so, imo, in a completely believable way. She's clearly picked up a lot from Jane, and her asking to talk to XO Ramirez outside felt like a throwback to Jane doing the same with Milius in 1x01. I also love that she remembered everything Petty Officer Gattman had told her, even though it looked like she was only half paying attention to what he was saying. As for her picking up clues and figuring out the patterns, we've seen her do the same in 2x04, then in 2x07. I miss Lucy kicking butt, but would lie if I said Lucy's intelligence is not my absolute favorite thing about her. She's a hell of an investigator, and that's all I'm going to say about it. 😊

Special mentions Shedunit: This is the second time in the scope of 5 episodes that a black lady turns out to be a villain. What is up with that? The directing: Loved all the close ups, and the close ups of Yasmine/Lucy especially. This one may be my favorite shot:

I feel as if younger or inexperienced readers are more susceptible to falling for the Unreliable Narrator trope, or just sympathizing/unconsciously inserting themselves into the POV of the character so much so that they're unable to examine or analyze the story effectively. It really hinders their ability to read a story with any nuance in mind, but I'd say that is absolutely not your fault at all and falls on the reader for being caught up in a story you've written so well.

I'd say this could also be applicable to readers who draw conclusion between the story and reality that don't take into account the context or narrative weight you've written with (with the deadnaming comparison for example) and will use those words and examples without knowing their full meaning. It's a really tough and irritating issue, but do know that we still love what you're writing and understand your intentions with it.

I think the fact that we have a discussion board of sorts that we can use to "critique" and discuss each other's opinions and have a direct line to you as the author to fully comprehend what you mean with your fics is so neat!

yeahhhh I definitely think it's largely due to how young a lot of my readers are. I try to be understanding about it but it definitely gets discouraging, but again it's not their fault it's just a sign I wrote the unreliable narrator really well.

also I very much agree with your point about readers drawing conclusions between the story and reality without taking context into account. because they're using buzzwords they see online without fully understanding their impact or meaning. it's just very frustrating to see pop up in my emails all the time, but I'm so lucky to have so many of you jumping into my inbox to reassure me that it's not my writing that's at fault. That being said, before I begin I want you to know that I'm so sorry to burst a personal headcanon you've made about my version of Erwin Pries...but he has probably never heard a Lana Del Rey song in his entire life lmfao (I'm assuming that's who you're talking about). But Erwin is an EA premade, so if your Erwin is a Lana Del Rey stan I love that for you and that's valid!!! My Erwin just isn't haha (but his sister Maggie would like her music!) Anyway!!!

Erwin mostly listens to older music: he loves music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s and listens to everything on vinyl or cassette (he is very passionate about the preservation of physical media, he is the Paranoid ass king after all). His favorites are Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, David Bowie, Abba, Neil Diamond, Jim Croce, Billy Joel, John Denver, James Taylor, Elton John, The Mamas and Papas, Johnny Cash, and so on. He also has a not-so-secret love for musicals and claims that the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack is one of the best pieces of composition to ever exist (he also likes Godspell, Rent, Xanadu, and many more) Get him drunk enough and he will talk about how Mamma Mia is "Literally a transcendent work of art with whimsy and heartbreak and joy and a tender ass storyline at the heart that quite literally fucks so hard. Zoe appreciates all kinds of music, but has a deep love for the soul music that she heard around the house growing up. She likes music with feeling and depth, and the lyrics are most important to her but if the song isn't deep, it better have a good beat that she can dance to! Her personal favorite artists include Otis Reading, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Dionne Warwick, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Rhianna, Lauryn Hill, The Temptations, Roberta Flack, Janelle Monáe, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and so on!

Beckett's looks deceive him because he loves pop music. He is listening to the current hits, think Billboard 100s exclusively lol. He's a Swiftie through and through, and he will fight for her honor on any Twitter thread or in-person discussion. Junia doesn't care about music that much! She doesn't have any favorite artists, she's never even bought a CD and probably couldn't tell you 5 bands or artists off the top of her head. She's one of those people who will listen to anything that "has a good beat" while she's working out, and it doesn't even have to have words. She's listening to music more for background noise as opposed to being passionate about it or seeking it out.

Anwar listens to alternative music mostly! Bands like the 1975, The Strokes, Paramore, The Clash, Fall Out Boy, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, The Neighborhood, and so on. He definitely went through a pop-punk, Hot Topic, combo of emo and scene phase in his teen years in the 2000s. (Iykyk, if you don't... look it up lmao. It was a time to be alive.) If they could play at Warped Tour, he listens to them lmao. But he's cool with most pop or radio music, he's not like a music snob or anything.

Tashia listens to pretty much everything, but she also loves metal music. Idk if you've seen the Pixar/Disney movie "Monster's University" but there's a scene in there where the mom of one of the main characters drops them off at Monsters Inc. and she's like "I'll just be listening to my tunes until you get back" in like the sweetest voice and then as she's rolling up the windows you can hear metal music blasting through the speakers and she's just like... calmly vibing like she's listening to elevator music or smooth jazz lmfao. It's very funny. That's how I imagine Tashia's music taste to be and it concerns everyone around her <3

hahaha i feel like i say this every single time i reply to a meme like this but general forewarning that on my end i will be working exclusively with the muses of yours i'm actually familiar with, but this in no way means i'm not open to interactions with muses not listed on either end!! i am happy to write any and all muse combinations for the most part these are just a few that come to mind!!

okay! first and most obvious (in my opinion), i would absolutely LOVE to discuss some things between iorveth and isengrim at some point. aside from the fact that i just love writing isengrim in general, i've never fully gotten the opportunity to explore a potential dynamic between him and iorveth, and i think that's a shame. i've been itching to send something but because of my work and other hobbies i'm never on the dash at the right time to catch a meme being reblogged. in any case, when i DO luck out, you can count on that sort of thing being the first thing i send.

this one is a little more weird but i would LOVE to send tempest at legolas sometime (or even iorveth as well)!! he's an original elven character who has... semi work-in-progress verses for both witcher and tolkien. the general gist of his character is he's the sort of person who makes himself everyone's enemy so they can unite at his own expense---sort of a backline schemer type of character who's a lot more sympathetic than he lets on. i think the general dour and pessimistic tone of tempest's character would contrast well against legolas very much not being that way, and i also think it would be a good complementary interaction for iorveth.

the third and final muse of yours on this blog i know is venti, naturally, but i would like for them and parsifal to interact!! supposing you're not familiar with the artifact lore in genshin, parsifal was the wielder of the iron sting, alley flash, and alley hunter, and the phantom thief mentioned in wine and song, as well as the skipper's first mate from the heart of depth artifact set and serpent spine claymore. once upon a time he was part of a larger storyline related to old fabled "characters" from mondstadt and liyue's past suddenly being resurrected and given second chances, but he's pretty much alone in that now. i just think it would be interesting for the two of them to interact given parsi's famous history and odd resurrection. i don't know. he has a whole plot in modern mondstadt where he's learning about the extent of his brother eberhart's betrayal so maybe venti could have a part in that or something.

As someone who is transgender, Penny has caught my eyes and I love how great she looks and just her character in general

Aww that makes me so happy!! I'm so joyed that you like Penny!! I've never done a trans female OC before, and I thought it would be an interesting way to strengthen Penny's and Laser's bond! (I have been debating drawing a younger version of Gavin and maybe Penny too, when she's experimenting with female pronous and such, but idk I'm still a nervous of accidentally upsetting any irl trans people with how I draw Penny)

Since most of the cousins have been getting posts with facts about them, lets dedicate this one to Penny!

-She's older then Laser by ten minutes

-Laser was the first person Penny told about being trans. She asked Laser if he could refer to her by female pronouns when it was just the two of them, just to see if she liked it. Laser agreed, and while at the time he didn't understand Penny's feelings fully, he did see how much happier she was

-She's a big binge eater when she's sad. Her favourite foods include London cheesecake, strawberries, strawberry flavoured ice cream and eclairs

-She's had top surgery and the rest of her cousins know about her being trans, but she's still very shy about wearing clothes that are more revealing, suck as bikini's and some types of dresses. She's not loud and open like Laser is, and Penny finds it difficult to be so. Laser pats her on the shoulder and tells her to not force herself, for now Penny is comfortable with just her cousins knowing about her being trans

-She and Lips are nature besties and have very in depth talks about wildlife conservation and natural environment preservation. Lips is probably the only band members who has seen Penny drunk (she gets very emotional, mostly sad, when drunk. She cries about manatees)

-She has a gianormous manatee plushie named Marvin who she treasures and adores with her whole heart. She's very particular on who she lets hug him cuz she hates it when he gets dirty. Laser may hug Marvin when he's sad - after Penny checks his hands are clean - and her other cousins may hug Marvin with permission

-Penny likes the band, they may be a bit much at times but she has no malice with them....she cannot stand Teeth's fashion sense though. The different patterns combined with the clashing, brightly coloured patterns make her head hurt if she stares for too long. It's kind of thanks to her OCD she has such a dislike for some of his outfits, but she tries to not bring it up

-She has a soft spot for their youngest cousin Liv. Liv has told Penny and her other cousins all the crazy and dramatic stuff she's gotten herself into since joining the band as their sparky. And while she and the band always make it out fine in the end, Penny can't help but be a teenie, tiny bit concerned at times for Liv

-Her and Teeth bicker over what cheesecake it better, London cheesecake (a pastry dessert with icing and coconut ontop) or Newyork cheesecake (apparently the type of cheesecake Teeth likes is called Newyork cheesecake?). Both are utterly perplexed by the others favourite dessert choice because it's so different from their own. Their discussions will either end in them agreeing both types of cheesecake are delicious, or a vicious battle to the death

-She was terrified of Animal when she first met the band and would offer several, quick, awkward pats to his head whenever Animal would randomly give her one of his many bizarre gifts

-She's since grown fond of Animal and actually likes him a lot. Me and @jjsesame spoke about an idea of Animal, sorta like how he is with Nora in Muppets Mayhem, being a bit smitten with Penny. Also inspired a teenie bit by his character on the OG Muppet Show, but Animal respects all women, trans women and women and anyone who thinks otherwise gets bit. Cuz of this Penny grows to really like Animal, and will sometimes bring him snacks and stuff when she comes to visit since she knows Animal is a bottomless pit (has joked to Floyd if she can borrow Animal for emotional support if she ever gets the courage to go to a pride parade)

-Debating on her being Aroace or just Aromantic, Penny just strikes me as the type who wouldn't really be interested in romantical relationships, but would be perfectly comfortable and okay with just having a queerplatonic relationship with somebody if she ever found the right person

-Her job is making custom suits, dresses or fancy outfits of any type for people. She's visited the Muppets a few times when she and Gavin have come down to see Liv, and surprisingly Penny has made a strong friendship with Piggy, whom she likes to drink wed wine and gossip with. She's also close to Deadly, both being fashion designers they like to ramble about little details they put into their work and offer valuable tips and pointers to each other (She also loves Piggy's dog Foofoo, Floyd doesn't see the appeal)

-She boxes to relieve stress. Raph offered to teach her mediation, but Penny just didn't find it helpful. Initially hesitant, Raph proposes she try boxing, and to his shock it works. Raph is more or less Penny's fitness couch, she's not a supreme boxer, but she does own a punching bag at home and gloves so if she ever needs to blow off steam she can (her OCD leads to her anger sometimes being more violent then others, so the boxing is a good and healthy way for her to get her anger out without hurting herself or breaking things). Outside of Laser, Raph is the person Penny trusts the most

-Since entering the world of the fashion business she started smoking to help handle stress. Raph smokes occasionally, not as much as he used to when he was younger, but sometimes him and Penny will step out have a smoke together in silence

really digging this introverted/introverted energy I get from them and, well this is based on my current au (post-canon and post-Yuma), things changed a little hahaha

Astral changes A LOT because of Shark and their relationship - probably a more out-of-character Astral (but look at manga X anime Astral and tell me that's the same dude, it isn't huh?). Anyway, I'll discuss a little more in depth at the end of this post, meanwhile..

I'll go fetch my tags from yesterday:

this newfound obsession with this ship (Astral/Ryoga) started last year and it was not a coincidence at all, what surprised me was the fact that Astral/Yuma wasn't a ship I thought I'd part with or change like I did but this is precisely it: I changed Ryoga and Astral are similar - that is kind of the point - that relationship feels harmonious and mature in my head. They're not the same. They're not bound by things like “destiny” or because they're “soulmates” or incomplete halves that make one whole, they are whole individuals (there's some headcanons about this I will explore regarding Astral) by themselves the thing that gets me is the circumstances in which they grow closer to each other: pain and loss Yuma and Astral make a wonderful ship. That's not up to debate. They didn't have a choice though: they must exist together Astral and Ryoga is something deliberate (and liberating at that) it's not that I came to dislike one over the other but just that I needed something else. I'm all about autonomy (of course this also solves the issue with another of my favs III and his unrequited love. I guess in the end no one loses and I'm happy) it's funny to see how much I changed and matured in this last year through the lenses of shipping but here we are. It's fun and real. I'm so very glad I changed. I always do (not always for the best but this time I do believe it is a good change)

there's still more I want to add!

before, Astral was an "extension" of Yuma (or rather, half of Yuma, and Yuma was half of him), a weapon from Astral World and the mythical hero "Zexal"

this Astral I'm putting together with Ryoga is a "man" (hence why he's slightly less agender now)

this Astral is "whole" (I'll have to explain this eventually, whenever I stop to put my thoughts in order that is) and his "role" now is to live his own life as he pleases (of course, still aiding Astral World etc..)

this Astral is more "human", he's darker and more mature too and, although he still doesn't show his emotions much, he does have them (unlike before) and he's able to identify them better now

well, the gist of it (in the beginning at least) is that they're licking each other's wounds, processing their heartbreak, pain and loss.. then some budding feelings start to bloom

the interactions (romance, sex, etc) will be very different because of how much Astral is changed, there will be a lot of tension and attrition, but the kind that connects and strengthen (if that makes any sense?)

I guess I didn't need to do much for Ryoga at all, since his personality and features are pretty much set in canon. It's pretty damn obvious he's in love with Yuma and I just had to play with that: he can't be with Yuma, so what now? If I remove IV/Thomas from the equation altogether (because in this headcanon they would be more like fuck buddies if they were to stay together) how to proceed with Ryoga? He likes Astral and considers him his friend because he likes and is friends with Yuma (and Yuma and Astral are the same guy also), so how to cause the shift and make Ryoga and Astral happen?

that flips a switch in Astral's mind

something something his bond with Yuma is still strong and the same, AND he is capable of bonding with other people too. He just didn't know or cared enough to bother

so.... that's where things might start getting out-of-character (but I don't really care that much to be honest?????). Unlike his relationship with Yuma, Astral's relationship with Ryoga will come full of intensity

thank you for answering my ask!! i was unsure whether to send because sharing concepts is a subjective, often personal thing, so thank you for being so receptive and kind!

yeah i definitely think making things dark for the sake of just being dark is overdone and unnecessary (cue Riverdale), but that if it touches on an undercurrent that already exists in a storyline or character trait then it could be worth exploring.

i always felt chase got away with way too much in regards to him harboring such a crush & at times obsession, with zoey, because as his behavior continued, it was like the whole friend group and PCA campus was aware except for her. it didn’t seem considerate or respectful to her, and obviously this was because Nickelodeon writers notoriously disregard female characters and the depth/range they can bring if given the chance, but i still would like there to be a certain consequence to chase parading around with his emotions about a girl who may have her own desires and thoughts on the matter, too. zoey didn’t know at all that he was going to such great lengths to be her best friend, paired with her, know her secrets, or just how she may feel in a romantic sense about him.

my idea is definitely grittier and sexier than the typical scenarios between chase and zoey, but i think it weaves together the objectification of women and girls in that dicey time of the early aughts, where things like this may’ve happened more frequently and the gossip would be quite juicy. if anyone could tap into that version, it’s you! you’ve got a great sense of reality, infused with just the right amount of dreamy, for the setting of each story you’ve created. this is merely a suggestion and it’s been so great getting to hear your thoughts on this! thank you

On that note, I apologise for how long this reply is.

I do actually fundamentally disagree with your reading on Chase's character and how he fits into the wider context of mid-2000s and wider Nickelodeon/Dan shows as a whole. Yes, Dan & co are absolutely not interested in Zoey's feelings, which is the main flaw of the show and is based both in misogyny and the fact that Jamie Lynn cannot act. Chase is, functionally, the main character which is why you are supposed to root for him and places Zoey in a kind of old-fashioned love interest role where you literally don't know her feelings until her big confession of love (or a very half-hearted "I love you too" in Trading Places and kiss in Chasing Zoey). Think a Jane Austen character like Mr Knightley or Captain Wentworth, or really any repressed English male, but in a shitty Nickelodeon show with dreadful fashion and an (un)healthy sprinkling of sexism.

That said, disinterest can still be disrespectful and it doesn't change that Chase is the problem here. I make it no secret that Chase is my favourite character and I'm biased, but specifically I like S3 Chase. In some ways that's when he's at his worst; certainly it's when he's most emotional because he's allowed to be angry at Zoey instead of just bearing the brunt of hers, but he's also just meaner to everyone. Plus he's older and he should know better (though if anyone genuinely believes that I think they should meet a sixteen-year-old). But it's the shift from S1 to S3 that I find so interesting. So to me a lot of your characterisation of Chase reads as him in S1, where he is much more of a baby Ross Geller type (or it reads as his character in that absolutely garbage 2015 short that I will not speak the name of and IS NOT CANON).

Saying that, even in the worst episodes (The Play, School Dance) Chase's actions aren't framed as being inherently good or acceptable, he is punished for them within the episodes: he gets sick and he pisses Zoey off and has to apologise. I want to emphasis this because contextually this is when The Notebook and yes, Friends, are having grown men unapologetically pull worse stunts and also because Dan's others shows also stop having this kind of moral framing after Season 1-2 of iCarly. Then you get to S2 and you have the (once again, not good) Time Capsule episode and Chase gets to keep his status as a "good" character because he does not go through with invading Zoey's privacy by watching her DVD, and by Spring Break-Up he doesn't even want to tell Zoey about his feelings. "Friendzoning" always comes up with this show and by now we should all know the sexist connotations of that word, but Chase is not put into the friendzone, he friendzones himself. Michael says "what if Zoey loves you back, then you'll be happy Chase forever," and Chase says, "it's not worth the risk," and then you write a 21,000 word fanfic about how Chase is never going to be happy because he has perpetual depression. The point is that, except for maybe the first few episodes of S1 (and it's explicitly encouraged by Logan in New Roomies), he thinks being best friends is enough.

I find it really interesting that you described him as "parading around with his emotions" because I tend to characterise him as being utterly mortified by said emotions. From memory, the above conversation in SBU starts by Michael doing the "people on Mars know you love Zoey" joke and Chase says he doesn't want everyone to know. I touched on it a bit in my aborted S4 AU but to me the public intrigue of their romance would have been a real challenge for both of them, and if you look at all their 'moments' all of them are private, compared to Quinn/Logan where their arc culminates in a public display of affection.

Again, you get to S3 and he actually is more unreadable - not completely, just less of an open book because his emotions aren't explicitly stated all the time. I think Dan thought he had actually written Chase a season-long arc (I'm not calling it that) because he starts off the season saying that he thinks the universe only wants him and Zoey to be friends (Chase's Girlfriend, also where he seems embarrassed by sending the text message in SBU), tries to publicly deny that he ever had a crush on her (Zoey's Tutor, where from his perspective ONLY Michael should know that he did because he never discussed it with Lola or Quinn), only gets minorly jealous (mainly Son of a Dean but even in episodes like Zoey's Tutor and Quarantine it's either played as being 'overprotective' or dropped relatively quickly), and actually pursues other girls, i.e. Rebecca and the girl he tries to flirt with in Favour Chain. This all then "culminates" into him actually coming to terms with and admitting that he's still in love with Zoey in Goodbye Zoey instead of denying it or ignoring it (and there's a whole thing here about how S3 is arguably when he actually is in love with her, because he's really started to see her as a person with flaws and not just a girl on a pedestal or an object of desire and lol). Even if you don't think that you still only really get glimpses of old Chase, rather than entire episodes dedicated to it (e.g. Chase and his desire to know Zoey's secret is not the villain in Zoey's Balloon, where it probably would have been in S1).

So where does this leave us other than with confirmation that I am certifiably insane? Well, this is fanfiction so still with me being insane, because as you can tell I have thought about this critique a lot. In my head, it is something Chase himself would have to reconcile with. I don't know if you've read if there's anyone in the sun (and fair enough if not because it's long and potentially triggering and lots of other things), but a lot of that is specifically about Chase still beating himself up for what he did as a shitty, hormonal, hyper-emotional (and, in my version) a clinically depressed teenager:

Chase starts to ask for her forgiveness. He tells her about trying to sabotage Logan so he wouldn’t kiss her during the play, about digging up the time capsule, why he stole her TekMate, how he thought about not coming back from England, that he’s sorry for his reaction when she kissed him. And Zoey doesn’t know all of it, can hardly even believe some of it

Zoey forgives him but she's also had the distance of a decade, so it could be interesting to to delve a bit deeper into her reactions like we saw in School Dance, The Election, SBU etc. It might not be something like objectification though, just because I always liked how Chase didn't really objectify her (with some exceptions). In general I think it's something that anything featuring the characters as grown-ups should, at least in the sense of showing that your characters have actually changed since they were fifteen, so naturally I have zero faith that the upcoming movie thing will do any of that.

✨Hello my loves, I'm a 19f looking for some Harry Potter roleplays!✨

I'm a full time student and I work part time, so I try my best to reply somewhat frequently, but sometimes I have more time/muse and other times I have less, and I can absolutely understand the same thing for my partner! I will, however, keep you posted!

Additionally, I love talking ooc, about our characters or the plot, or just about life in general. I want to see the tiktoks, the interest boards, the fanfic, the fanarts, the headcanons, the songs, all of it! Tell me about other things you're passionate about. I don't just want to roleplay, I want to be friendly as well!

I love angst, and am very happy to involve it/some dark themes so long as we discuss them beforehand, although it is not necessary. I'm also entirely open to kinks/nsfw aspects so we can 100% discuss that as well! Generally speaking, I don't love to write characters that are more "dominant" in those situations as well, and tend to write bottoms/switches leaning bottom.

I write literately and can do novella but I really don't prefer it and will likely burn out. I generally give from 1-5 paras, or from 1k-4k depending on time, muse, and point of the rp! I also def prefer writing on discord because that makes things a lot easier! I do not double or write against oc's, so please don't ask :).

I will also say that I love to give my characters in depth characterizations and things of the sort, and I don't tend to write "macho macho man" characters in the same way that I don't want to write "uwu softboi" characters, and I would prefer my partner not do that as well!
