would a DnD character who believed that their actions were a "necessary evil" but all of their actions full fell in with like. normal DnD character violence and in general their actions would be classified as mostly in line as the same as what the good aligned characters were doing but like. This character personally had a hard stance on "the actions of violence and war are not good, but people need to partake in them to survive. I'll not cast hypocritical judgement, and I will protect people and help people where I can. I believe there is good in the world worth protecting. I just don't think that I'm it." Be aligned evil?

like would the be Neutral Evil or Lawful Evil or something? Like they have a rule, they feel they are evil by those rules. Technically they do good overall maybe, depending on the story or setting or player, I would intend them to be a character who intended good but felt like... "I am not a good person, but in order for good people to live safely there needs to be bad people out here to fight other bad people."

I am thinking about a War Cleric or Paladin again, I am very fascinated by War Domain. I want to play a War Domain character with a Soldier mentality.

and I'm very curious about how alignment works. I often play Neutral alignment because I have a hard time with the concept. The first character I ever played was annoyingly moral and refused to let people loot tombs because "those are *offerings for the dead* you can't *take those*." And then I had a fuss because "Wait if Kobolds have language they have society and aren't just monsters, we should communicate with them instead of fighting, this isn't mindless they're people. We can't just kill them." Because I literally had no idea how the game worked lmao.

I'm getting better at figuring out how the game works now. There's a lot of stuff I kick myself for that like. 'hey, seph. being someone who had never played DnD before but watch Critical Role with a group of people who played 3.5 together with some other people for years, you did okay. Especially since the person who DM'd for you turned out to be an abusive freakshow who might still be stalking you'

DnD can be a skill too that you learn to get better at, and I was at my best when I was with supportive people. I need to find another supportive and fun game to join. Maybe one that will let me explore my War Domain Character that's tickling my brain.

2nd house profection year

it’s my 2nd house profection year and I’m noticing some changes in my life. < my 2nd house is in cancer for ref.

~༯ I’m eating more this year than ever tbh. like I started having comfort food!!! eating whatever I want whenever and not holding myself back as much, which is very unlike me btw. I have a virgo moon and I’m not just nitpicky but also strict with my diet, even tho I have a fast metabolism (aries stellium).

~༯ usually when I’m stressed I tend to starve myself or get over caffeinated but this year I’m leaning more towards eating for comfort < yes taurus core.

~༯ I started going to the gym again but I’d slack off and become uninterested and bored, then find it interesting again, but that could just be my gem rising.

~༯ It seems like life is more abundant. things come easier! there's less resistance. I’m able to slow down and smell the roses.. 𓇢𓆸 I even feel a bit too comfortable or stuck in my comfort zone. everything seems like it’s too much and I just want to enjoy life. ˖ ݁𖥔 ݁˖

~༯ I started buying flowers, planting flowers, decorating my house a lot more, got more perfumes, more beautiful things. currently as we speaking I have like 10 different types of flowers in my house. I started cooking more, I even made up recipes that my family liked and started making them regularly.

~༯ I’m taking care of my skin, my body, and overall health. I'm investing more in skincare and health supplements. though sometimes I overdue it, like get fixated on one thing or another.

~༯ I'm someone that used to have high energy, I'd pull an all nighter or just wake up at 3am scroll non stop or put music on, it wasn’t energy it was ⋆˙⟡ anxiety ⟡⋆˙ , but I'm having more quality sleep this year! I'm in bed by 10 and maybe I just got older, but there's that.

~༯ giving my hair a well deserved break!! I used do dye my hair very often, this year I got a short haircut and I’m growing my natural hair back, I’ve only added a few subtle highlights and I don’t style it as often. I'm embracing more simplicity with my style, though could be that my ass got lazy 𐙚(ᵕ̤ᴗᵕ̤)

~༯ I'm planing more, working on my skills and hobbies, but not rushing or forcing things and not setting high expectations either. I don't feel like there's a rush like before. my values are changing significantly, I know what I like and don’t like and what I can put up with.

~༯ don't get too comfortable and not do anything about moving forward bcz you will be tempted to. remember to still challenge yourself!

~༯ I’m having a relatively comfortable year it got me having flashbacks of my 12th house profection year which was a fckin nightmare. It was all about the subconscious, mental health struggles, depression and overcoming these things. It really was about coming up with personified methods that help me deal with these internal conflict so I can move forward. It also was the year I became more spiritual.

~༯ my 1st house profection year wasn’t good either for me personally, it was super challenging and chaotic. it had me doing things outside my comfort zone. e.g. throwing myself in the ocean (i'm afraid of drowning). my individuality was constantly tested, my determination, my willingness to put myself first and not compromise my own needs and values.

~༯ there were instances where I felt like I'm compromising for the sake of keeping a friendship, which wasn’t reciprocated. I learned to not be afraid to walk away from ppl and places that don’t respect or value me. my cut off game wasn't particularly bad before, but I felt blinded, manipulated and pressured that year, I had to fully trust myself and only rely on myself. very much aries themes.

~༯ If you're going thRU it with your 12th or 1st house profection, know that it will teach you valuable lessons that lead you to know yourself and love yourself more. you will understand your triggers, your strengths, know who your enemies and true friends are. it gets better! this feels like the perfect year to take a break from all the past challenges that I went through, I'm able to slow down, enjoy life and reflect until I see where the next tides takes me.

i've been told that my dialog is good which makes me happy because there are a few fics where i'm actually really proud of it :3

pokemon!!!!!!!!! i literally found THE first fic i ever wrote which would have been somewhere between third and fifth grade because i PRINTED IT and DREW PICTURES. it is called The Mysterious Manaphy and makes no sense. i read it aloud to my partner and they howled. yeah, it was just that good

For mental health reasons, I'm going back to my roots and doing imagines again, but this time with my new fixation: the xmen (doesn't mean I won't do fics btw, just that it's not my main content anymore).

Here's X-men with a human s/o

Cyclops

Very chill about it, as with most things

He's one of the biggest believers of "humans and mutants are equal", so he really doesn't even think about the difference between you two

Well, ok, he does in times of danger and crisis tho

He's the type to try and explain that he doesn't think you're weak, per say...

It's just that there are some things and people out here that you simply can't defend yourself against

Scott is naturally protective, but he's just a little more alert for trouble when he's with you

Gambit

Actually, sometimes I feel like he doesn't really consciously identify as a "mutant" tbh

By that I mean, he considers himself to be just like anyone else, rather then being a Mutant First(tm), human second type

He's a "Can't we all get along" type, until someone starts causing trouble for mutants

....Which happens rather often, it seems

He doesn't hate humans, but he's a little suspicious at times

He'll flirt with you easy, but when things start getting serious he may start to lay off a little

It's not personal, you just need to earn his trust a little first

Thankfully, he's a good judge of character and will come around in his own time

Jean

You guys get along so well!

Unsurprisingly, Jean has the same mindset as Scott as far as human and mutant relations

It's a little easier for her to blend into human society then it is for Scott however

That, and her lighter personality make it so that you wouldn't even know she's with the X-men at all

She's nothing if not transparent tho, and as long as she trusts you, will be pretty forthcoming about it all

Jean does feel a bit of responsibility in keeping you safe from harm, but she's not as inadvertently condescending about it as Scott can sometimes be

But don't be fooled, just because she's a little more tactful about it doesn't mean she's going to let you anywhere near danger tho

Nightcrawler

Interestingly, Kurt also holds the mutants and humans are equals ideology too, even with all he's been through at the hands of humans

The two are both created equally after all, and the sins of the few do not mean the sins of all as far as he's concerned

He is, however, very aware of his appearance meaning it's quite impossible for him to go the gambit route and act as though he too is "just like everyone else", despite how he feels

He's probably just more surprised that you actually want to be with him then anything specifically about you being a human or something tbh

I could see him trying to use an image inducer around you a lot, at least for the first little while

Don't worry tho, after a while and with some reassurance, he'll get used to going about in his natural form

Kurt's power is extremely passive rather then aggressive, just like his personality, so while I defiantly see him being protective of you...

He's more likely to just teleport you both away and stay out of dodge rather then fight for your honor or anything lol

Rogue

If you think being with Jean is a cool time, just go ahead and crank that up to 11 with Rogue

She honestly doesn't give a shit about whether you're a fellow mutant or not, and once she knows, she doesn't think about it

Well, sometimes in a moment of insecurity she might... But never does she think about you in a bad way

She's probably the most relatable in a sense, because as a mutant who looks fully human, she also wants nothing more then to be human too

Maybe you two can work out a way to get in quick moments of contact without it being to dangerous for you

She'll protest this, of course, but who knows? Maybe it's possible to build a little resistance

Because if such a thing is possible...

Gosh, you better get ready, because she'd never leave your side after all you've done to try and get closer to her

Sabretooth

Ok ok, I know that like basically ever since the 80s or so Sabretooth has been portrayed as little more then a bloodthirsty, human hating, killing machine...

But in his earlier debuts, at least once he's expressed a genuine sense of loneliness and desire to acquire a partner for himself

Sure to get there he basically kidnapped a human woman and held her hostage down in the tunnels where he was living, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't want to know how this could possibly work out would you?

I'll also have you know that in that very same comic, he's described by said woman as having been surprisingly nice to her and showing no signs of aggression, so there's that

Personally I kind of... don't like "smart sabretooth", if you will, but in a world where he can speak in complete sentences and use technology without smashing it in a fit of frustrated rage:

He will never let you forget that you are an itty bitty human and will tease you for it a lot

Don't take this as him not caring about you though, he's easily the most protective mf-er on this list and would, quite literally, both kill and die for you

No one gets to touch his frail

Storm

Another one for the humans and mutants are equal lot

She does, however, acknowledge that there are more often then not, notable differences between the two tho

Storm admires human resilience as well as their capacity for good, despite what some of the masses may get up to

As a result, she tends to see that trait in you and appreciates your support for mutant rights and freedoms

She can be a little intense and seem stern at times, but that's really only when she's been on missions

It can be difficult for her to relax because of how her emotions tie into her powers, but she says that simply being able to enjoy your company helps

If you two really get to know each other, you might catch her growing a little more playful with her powers around you

A gust of wind to tussle your hair, a splash of rain to cool you off, stuff like that

Times like these are rare admittedly, but knowing she's this comfortable around you is a reward all in it's own

Toad

Sabretooth is a special case, so he's excluded here, but Toad definably has the hardest time of all the others here getting on with a human s/o

It may have something to do with his feral nature, but while Vic still expresses the desire to "find a mate", be them human or mutant, despite what he too went through at the hands of humans as a kid...

Toad has no such designs, neither to go with his mutation nor to simply help him push past his childhood hatred for humans

Kurt may think he knows how it feels to be mocked, feared, and shunned, but even he eventually found some peace in his little monastery

Mort has had no such luck. Even his fellow mutants belittle him

Any advance from a human, even just friendly ones, will be instantly rejected

...However. He won't go so far as to completely keep distance from you

He may hate humans, but... Well... Maybe there is a little piece of him that's still holding on for acceptance

He's EXTREMELY slow to trust you, but once it's earned, you'll find he's actually very sweet and caring

Unfortunately tho, I don't really see him being able to drop the inferiority complex he's had ingrained into him anytime soon

Wolverine

Are you kidding? This guy has had so many human relationships, it's almost a joke

He never really talks about it, but there have been a few rare times where wolverine, like Rogue, has also expressed a desire to just be human instead of a mutant

Unlike Rogue, he will never discuss this with you however and assuming you don't somehow know he's a mutant before hand, he will most likely do his best to make sure things stay that way

Especially if he reeeeeally likes you

He more so hates what was done to him rather then his actual powers tbh, so while he's not particularly ashamed of being a mutant or anything like that...

He'd just rather you didn't know unless if you have to

Regardless of if you know or not, he's a close second to Sabre for most over protective mf-er on this list lol

In fact, this trait of his is most likely how you end up finding out he's a mutant

gen v ep 4 thoughts

i guess i will put these behind a cut not that there's a lot of them

mostly just wanna say... i was very casually thinking "oh jordan/marie might be fun" before this ep but didn't fully think they'd go there just because... I don't know, I guess my ingrained belief that any sort of queer char outside the "norm" is not gonna be in a relationship with the main lead of a tv show? which is sad but I'm glad they are going for it? my one hesitation right as they kissed the first time was "shit is this gonna be a thing where it's just mariexboy-jordan and it's kinda heteronormative even w a distinctly queer character?" but the ending, i am now very much on board because yay queer marie, yay genderfuckery, and yay rivals to begrudging allies to lovers... i love it...

i was laughing that boy-jordan actor (derek something? Maybe? I am not great on the actor names for this show yet) basically did nothing this ep besides kiss marie tho lmao i do wonder in the writing/directing of the show how much they decided when each actor would be playing jordan - both for story implications but also in terms of giving the actors stuff to do, just an interesting thing to consider

also what are we callin it. jorrie? jordie? mardan? I think i like jordie

anyways i don't really give a shit about cate/andre or sam/emma i mean they're both fine but I am HERE for jordan and marie i hope it continues to be interesting and doesn't turn into any kind of sad cop out "one time thing" or shit

i will have to go look up what the fuck Tek Knight's power is supposed to be because it seemed like... super senses or super observation? like sherlock or the guy from psych? but i thought Tek Knight was supposed to be an iron man parody so i had been expecting something tech related... i cant decide if i found him entertaining or not... i guess, slightly. the whole "he just fucks things all the time because of a tumor" thing didn't really hit the mark for me it didn't quite land as funny nor like, an interesting way for dean shetty to one up him ... how man things he fucked in that montage IN PUBLIC SPACES i don't believe that it isn't ALREADY on instagram lol

Sam... I do like, big creds to his actor whose name i dont recall for making him so charming and sympathetic but also at the same time I am feeling a ~little~ like it's falling into that sorta fetishizing mental illness trope idk how to describe it but like similar vibes i got from anytime people (women) would go "crazy" on j*ss wh*don shows... idk idk i'm gonna see if i can find any perspectives from people with schizophrenia about this portrayal bc I don't know too much about it tbh! but yeah i... i dunno yet

i'm glad they confirmed giant emma is a thing too lol but imagine growing that large and then your bits are just on full display to everyone. your giantized bits. enlarged for easy viewing. i know a lot of people become naked with their powers in this universe so it's probably not AS weird for them but .. lol

ON THAT NOTE... JORDAN should share their secret for magic clothing that fits you perfectly no matter when your body changes with emma. lmao i kid but it's weird to me that every other character on this show whose power morphs their body in such a way that clothes would fall off or get destroyed (Emma, Golden Boy, etc) or otherwise be impracitcal (Translucent and the other invisible RA guy), they stick to the "realism" in that sense... which is just making me fixate on how the FUCK do jordan's clothes work? i mean, they have great style, but also their outfits fit PERFECTLY in both forms. and i'm like how? how does that work? they are very different sizes. Also like... are they wearing a bra? looks like it at least in some of the outfits w the tight shirts. Where's the bra go when they go into masculine form? huh? i wouldn't be asking these questions at all if the show didn't specifically call attention to clothing with everyone else's powers lmao.

Also I have to say the dick exploding scene felt really random and unnecessary .. there are times when the audacious/gory scenes on this show (and The Boys) really work but a handful of them on this show so far aren't hitting quite as much for me and feeling more like they just insist upon doing more of them to remind you "this is a The Boys spinoff!!! remember??? it's The Boys!!! Exploding Dicks!!!" like it'd be OKAY if you went an episode without genitals exploding... this show is already different... there's still people dying... we know...

Hello, I hope you’ve been doing well and taking care ☺️! I’ve been lurking around your blog for the past month and I love your HCs so much but I always struggled with coming up with ideas of what to request, but I think I’ve finally got one: furniture shopping with their S/O!!! (I spent two hours on the sims on build/buy mode; I’m on an interior decorating mood rn)

What’s their favorite room to shop for? Who’s being extra particular over color schemes? Who prefers a big department store (like ikea), and who’s preferring going antique store hopping? Who ends up getting distracted/fixated upon random things (like curtains, kitchen appliances, linens)? Etc, etc… (please have fun with it!)

Teehee yes, forgive me for the long wait, I really tried to mull this one over. I'm only going to do the three characters your mentioned but please feel free to ask for more.

Majima Goro

Clueless and lost as all hell in the entire process. Fully understands that if the two of you are going to live together, you will have to furnish said living space but he knows nothing about furnishings.

It's not that he has bad taste or is stupid, he's just used to living an extremely bare bones lifestyle when it comes to home decor. His days working at the Grand were especially lean in regards to personal effects so it's highly likely that his house or apartment currently has the bare minimum requirements with little to no color or pizazz.

Tentative by excited to explore this new avenue with you, only because it's with YOU. Anyone else would've gotten the stink eye from him, probably.

Gets lost in large furniture stores, mostly because he gets distracted by some kitchen doohickey that he doesn't recognize and spends time trying to examine it and guess what it's used for. When he loses sight of you, he'll just wander the aisles yelling your name. It's easier if you just keep an eye on him.

Always a little surprised when you ask his opinion on things like colors and patterns. His style is a little chaotic overall but would it really be a home with Majima if it didn't have some chaos?

One thing you can bet on is the man is sitting in all the chairs and laying on matresses before buying em. Don't let him check out the cutlery sets, by the way. He'll want the pricey one.

Joon-Gi Han

Even though his current living space is pretty minimalistic, Joon-Gi has a pretty decent wealth of knowledge about various aspects of interior design. Blame it on him going down some YouTube rabbit hole in the middle of the night.

Isn't particular about what kind of store you go to, but if he happens to walk by an interesting looking home decor store, he will want to at least take a peak. Out of the three, he's the most likely to go to as many stores as possible rather than one.

Carefully examines every individual object, no matter the size or importance. Constantly weighing the differences between price, material, durability, etc.

Pretty good taste in things like bedspreads, towels, and curtains but isn't headstrong in his opinions. He's more like a "Oh, that towel would look with that floor mat..." type of guy.

His favorite room to shop for is the bathroom. Likes a nice set of towels in various sizes and a cute organization rack for things like skincare products.

Good at buying most electronics, like a television or computer. Unsure of what to buy for the kitchen when it comes to fancy things, like a stand mixer. Mostly just amazed at the amount of gadgets you can attach to it.

Saeko Mukoda

Very self sufficient and has a pretty nailed down personal aesthetic for herself and her house. Honestly, she could probably go furniture shopping by herself and get it all done in a weekend.

She's always keeping her budget in mind so she's the most likely of the 3 to go to a secondhand or antique store. Especially fond of going there for larger pieces of furniture, like a coffee table.

Her overall house aesthetic is clean but not minimalistic. Think warm but bright tones, not over saturated though. She doesn't mind adjusting this to accommodate your taste as long as her personal areas remain undisturbed, like the nightstand on her side of the bed or her makeup organizer.

Loves shopping for bedroom items. A good mattress and a fluffy pillow are a must for our working girl. Always buys two sets of matching bedspreads so that when one is dirty, the other can be used and still look cute while the other is in the wash.

Her secret weapon is that she knows the best way to organize items in the house. Great at getting useful organizers like baskets, holders, organizers, etc. Makes the most out of her space.

Do not ask her to buy electronics, she will just buy what's newest, which unfortunately means sometimes she will buy what's most expensive.

can we talk about werewolves and sexuality????!!!! So we know Chris is Demi, prior to pretty what did he imagine during his ruts (either his own imagination to get him through it or simply what his alpha fixated on)? Was it like recent crushes, omegas in general? When/if he watched portion during it did he have a tendency to lean towards curvy to fat female bodied persons? Had he ever had gay thoughts?

we know bin can swing both ways, what were his rut pre ginger like? Did the body he prefer vary? Did gender ever matter??

Minho, our weird wolf. So we know he’s basically always been in love with kitten. Obvi love and physical attraction are two different things. Do you think those physical attraction feelings sprouted after he was turned or before? In my head, if he wasn’t a wolf he would 100% be ace. So still 100% infatuated with kitten, pretty repulsed by sexual contact but would eat her out to make her happy. Penetrative sex tho, hard pass

long story short: at what point dies the wolf “interfere” with the persons sexuality? Does it vary from person to person? Can the wild and person completely disagree with “suitable” partners? (These go for omegas too if you’ve thought about it!!!)))

the wolf and the person are, ultimately, one. in this universe the wolf side of a werewolf wouldn't want something that the human side didn't already desire.

like, yeah we've seen Chris fight with himself over the thoughts he had towards his roommate (our prettiest), but it wasn't because he didn't feel that way, just that his animal side was just too real and unfiltered with himself and Chris wasn't ready to hear any of it lol. same with Minho and his thoughts about kitten when he went into rut.

so it's not like their inner wolf would push them to do something they didn't want. the inner wolf would only disagree with a partner chosen by the human side if that human part of them already had doubts of their own. the inner wolf just brings attention to that that is already consciously or subconsciously in a werewolf's mind, if that makes sense?

i can see any of our wolfies going like "anyone that tells you they've cheated because 'their inner wolf made them do it' is lying" or something LOL.

now, going into the other questions...

i don't think Chris imagined anyone in particular during his ruts. he probably had generic thoughts related to his needs (breeding, physical contact, etc) and his preferences (ahem, thighs......), but it was probably difficult to picture someone that he'd specifically would've wanted to experience this with. any fantasy he could've possibly had that might've involved another person was probably a completely faceless experience (until pretty). this applies to his rut, his regular "man" needs were probably a bit different in which he could picture someone that he'd been crushing on or someone he was dating (his rut-driven brain was incapable tho). about him and porn... you're probably right. whether he realised it or not, he probably gravitated towards people with that body type (subconscious foreshadowing ig lol) and when it comes to gay thoughts... yeah. i can never fully bring myself to formalise Chris' ex partners (as in how many, etc), but i'm sure that a man must've been involved at some point. even if it was someone he just dated for a bit or maybe someone he just experienced the wonders of a good snog and heavy petting with.

now, Bin... i don't think gender ever mattered to him (designation... maybe at some point). he just wanted a warm body there with him no matter the gender or values of the person attached to it lol. his ruts were probably pretty standard. unlike Chris, he could spend it with other people, and he could fantasise with specific people if he was on his own, it was probably normal for him so i don't think this was something he struggled with. with that being said... i feel like what he could have struggled with was his own needs. he's stubborn, and more than likely during his rut he was trying to force himself and negate thoughts that his inner wolf had. like... imagine being a person who subconsciously yearns to bottom and having to fight yourself during a time like your rut because you couldn't face those thoughts of "put it up my ass right now and breed me or i'll die" while trying to put up the Dominant Alpha Façade with the person you're spending it with lol. not only that but doing it while dealing with body aches and high temperatures and so on. sounds like a nightmare. so i can see his ruts not being exactly... enjoyable at all times. not that they were bad the entire time, but... you know. it was a mixed bag. i'm sure he's having a much better time now.

interesting take on Minho! i like it, even if it's different from what i think. he was really young when he was turned, so by default i think the physical attraction aspect happened much after, but it's probably just... the natural course of things. puberty and all that. i don't think he'd be sex repulsed if he hadn't been turned, but i do think he would've been much less interested in sex than he became afterwards. hell, maybe lycanthropy was what made him kinky, otherwise he might've been super vanilla and would have a hard time finding the clit lol. however, he would've 100% still be attracted to kitten even if he hadn't been turned. this concept of not feeling sexual attraction or feeling sex repulsed if they weren't a werewolf.... hold that thought somewhere in the back of your mind..... it'll be relevant eventually i think 👀

as for the omegas... i haven't thought about it in depth yet skdfjhhskjdf. it's something i'd like to explore, especially with Jisung.

DIRK: It's not any one thing. I think I was just a completely toxic element in his life from day one.

you know what i find interesting?

when dirk gets to his MOST catastrophizing and revisionist of events, when he is fixated on casting himself in the worst possible light to the point he's grabbing the lamps and moving them around to make himself feel worse

he uses the word "toxic"

and i wonder if HS was written in 2022, hussie would still use that word due to the shifting connotation of it

if you actually discard your outside context and read a lot of the post-retcon conversation (and even a good chunk of the meteor logs), the thing Dave's arc is revolving around is Toxic Masculinity in a very frank sense. yes its also about abuse, yes its also about sexuality and gender, but the core of what HS is talking about when it's talking about Dirk and Dave Strider is the effects that Toxic Masculinity have on young men, and the ways it metaphorically poisons you until you will choke on it and literally die or you have to get out of it to survive

but there has been a vernacular shift in our language, and the word "toxic" has been pretty thoroughly hijacked by cancel culture

(genuine cancel culture, the kind that ruins the lives of already-marginalized people, not """cancel culture""" dig?)

to the point when I read dirk use that word, "toxic", it fully stopped me for a second. because that now means something else, has a complicated history. and i think it inadvertently dovetails with bad readings of Dirk and conflating his actions with other characters (including Bro and the AR). which is unfortunately kind of the point of his character. literally the first log "Dirk" has in the story is not Dirk, but the AR, and an establishment of the theme around Dirk. and despite that.... there's a non-zero amount of people who uncritically hear Dirk Strider say "i'm a toxic person" and instead of going "wait, are you tho?" they go "wow its so great he's acknowledging that, so brave."

which, sorry to say: is a misreading of the actual story, and the people who accept dirk at his word about the kind of person he is probably missed a lot of what the fuck the story is even saying.

Paring: Kageyama Tobio x fem!reader

Your head popped in the main gym. It was right after volleyball club practice.

- Kageyama! - you smiled at your best friend. Black-haired first-year turned around and raised his hand when he saw you.

- Awwww Kageyama-kun why you never told us that you have a girlfriend? - his friend tried to joke but Tobio's and your death stare effectively shut his mouth. Kageyama picked up his stuff and walked towards you.

It wasn't the first and won't be the last time people assumed that you and Kageyama were dating. Although from the side you two looked quite cute - you as the sunshine and he as the grumpy one - you never have thought about a relationship with Tobio. Even tho, you two were always together. Always protecting and supporting each other.

But in reality, you were somehow forced to become friends, you were neighbors and your mothers were best friends, so the bond between you two was created early before you two could handle a proper talk.

- You came early today - Kageyama took strawberry milk from you and took a sip. - Why so?

- It's getting dark earlier. And cold. I didn't want to wait for you longer.

- Then don't wait.

- No. I'm not going home alone after dark.

- It's not that dark. It's nearly sunset.

- Shut up - you hit his arm, not too hard to not hurt his precious setter body.

Kageyama said nothing, as usual, and kept his standard walking pace.

- What's your next game?

- Inters to the Spring Tournament.

- Good. Can I-

- No. You can't go and watch. - he cut you before you can end the sentence.

- Why?

- Because I said so.

Tobio never let you go to his games. You were freaking lucky if you were able to see him practice. Volleyball was something he kept so far away from you as if it was a dirty secret, not a nice game.

But for him, the version of him on the court, The King, it was embarrassing. He knew he dictated a lot, but someone needed to control the game and those idiots in his team. But he never would let you see that side of him. It would mean losing the only person he actually cared about.

- You're no fun, Tobio

- It's Kageyama-kun

- I'm not fully from Japan, don't expect me to use polite forms

- You never left Japan, idiot - the corner of his lips lifted when he looked at you. He was smiling only when he was with you

//Week Later//

After he missed the game (he was put on the bench but lying to himself that he missed it was better), Kageyama was unapproachable. He hasn't said a word to you for the whole week. You were worried. Asked his team members but all you got was "You can ask his highness himself. If he'll have time for your audience, of course".

You didn't understand a thing about it. His highness? That hate in those words? All you could do was just sit down on the cold school floor, your back leaning on the doorframe to the gym, hopelessly waiting for Kageyama to come home. Because he never asked you to walk together again for the next two months. But you never gave up. You kept following Tobio as you used to. But he acted as if you didn't exist. He was somehow fixated on the volleyball. But you never saw him with any of the team members. He was a setter, doesn't he need spikers to practice?

But you knew that you needed him. You needed his calmness to your energy. You simply missed your best friend.

That's why you decided to break the only rule that your friendship had. "Don't go to Kageyama's games" rule.

//Game day//

You entered the gym. You always thought that your school was huge but it was nothing compared to Aoba Johsai High School where the games were held. You started to walk towards the board to find your school.

- Kitagawa Daiichi.... Kitagawa Daiichi... - you traced your finger on the board.

- Court B - the happy voice sounded right above your ear. You jumped, hitting your back on someone's chest.

- Oh fuck... I mean I'm sorry!

You felt hands on your shoulders, as the person slowly turned you around so you faced them.

- Oh- Oikawa-senpai - you smiled, recognizing an ex-student from your school.

- Aww you're Tobio-chan's girlfriend, I remember you.

- I'm not his girlfriend - you mumbled, blushing.

- Nah nah I know, I know, lovers, they all say the same. Anyway, you're here to watch your boyfriend play? - he let go of your arm and leaned on the wall, his right hand above your head.

- Yeah. He spaced out a little... And I couldn't get anything out from his team so here I am. Wanna go with me?

- Oh, of course! That's why I'm here!

- It's not like this is your school?

- Ehehehe this and Kitawaga game - he scratched his nape and smiled softly at you. You smiled back and let the high schooler lead you to the court.

You took the seat next to Oikawa and immediately spotted Kageyama on the court. He looked so different. Somehow his calm energy was now on fire. You almost called his name but Tooru put his hand on your shoulder.

- Don't distract him. I never saw you at our games through last year, he probably would be serious playing in front of his girlfriend.

- For the last time, senpai, I'm not his girlfriend.

- But would you like to be?

You didn't answer and shifted your attention from Oikawa to the game. Your eyes were locked on Tobio. He was better than the rest, it was visible in his moves. And the school they played against clearly had nothing to offer but Kageyama still played rather recklessly. His tosses were accurate but spikers were too slow. You almost felt your cheeks burning as if you were ashamed of how your best friend was taking his emotions out on his teammate.

- Maybe he might be needing his little girlfriend? - Oikawa mumbled to you.

- Shut- sorry senpai. He doesn't need me. He needs his team now.

- Oh... He might not get them back

Your eyes immediately focused on the game. But there was no game. Kageyama's toss was ignored. Noone even rushed for it.

- WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU IDIOTS?

- Your tosses are too reckless! They are impossible to hit!

- JUST MOVE FASTER!

- King of the Court. Find yourself new slave. Because I'm not going to be one anymore - spiker, the one who you thought was Tobio's friend, turned away from Kageyama.

You sighted. They might have won the game. But it wasn't a good game. It wasn't even a game.

- Ay... what happened to my cute Tobio-chan...? - Oikawa pouted, looking down at his ex-teammate.

- I don't know... but I'll find out - you left the bleachers. You ran down the corridor, looking for your friend.

- Kageyama! - you shouted when you finally spot him near the vending machine.

- Y-Y/N? Why are you here? - he barked at you. It was the first time he was truly cold towards you.

- I was worried about you so I came to watch your game an-

- So go back to Oikawa-senpai and hang out with him. You two seemed to enjoy yourselves earlier.

- What the hell are you talking about? Kageyama, talk to me. What happened on the court? What's going on?

- You never listen, right?!

- Kageyama! - you squeaked, when he pushed you against the wall, trapping you between his arms.

- You never listen. I told you to not come to my games!

- Why?! Because you're not coordinated with your team? That was your damn reason?!

- Because...

- Kageyama!

- I have various reasons!

- Then tell me! I thought we were

- Friends - he cut you off. - Is that really the only thing you think we are?

- Yeah. I mean, aren't we?

- We are not. And you know about that.

- Is that what got you all wrapped about the games?! Our relationship, that you supposed to leave OFF the court?!

- Yeah. Not only that but yeah.

- Kageyama! You were purely cruel to those guys!

- It's not my fault that they can't hit a good toss!

- It wasn't a good toss! He was miles from the-

- If he have run faster he would make it!

- Kageyama do you hear yourself?! That toss was impossible to hit and you know about that! I can see it in your eyes!

For a while, he said nothing.

- I was just making sure that we win!

- You can't play volleyball as an individual. - you sighted. - Or you'll never be called King of the Court in good meaning. You're more of the dictator now. And no one likes dictators.

- Shut up. What you can possibly know about volleyball?

- I know people, Kageyama. And I know my best friend who I loved for my whole life. He isn't like that setter I just saw there.

- Then what is he like, huh?! Happy and all jumpy like Oikawa-senpai?!

- Fuck off from him! He has nothing to do with this! It's about you! You're not like that! Quit being selfish and play as a team! Or you'll never be able to find your spiker!

- I'm doing what I have to do to-

- Win! Is that all you want?! Stupid crown! Keep it then! But don't be surprised if you'll lose everyone on the way!

- You too?

- What?

- Will I lose you too?

- No. I might hate the way you are out there but I l-

You couldn't end the sentence, stopped by Kageyama's lips on yours. You held your breath for a second. When he finally let go of you, you stood in front of him highly blushing. For so long as you were hoping for a scene like that between you two, you wouldn't think that it would be in the middle of the argument.

- Love you too much to leave - you ended your sentence and dropped your gaze to your shoes. Kageyama sighted. His hands moved from the wall on your waist, pulling you closer to him. Your face lightly hit his chest and his arms wrapped tightly around you. That was what you needed. And Kageyama secretly needed the same.

- Don't go for the stupid crown in high school too - you mumbled, slightly gripping his shirt, tightening the hug. - Because they won't hesitate to leave you.

- You will leave me too? - he asked.

- No. I won't. But if I were your spiker... I would.

Okay! Gonna share some pictures of my pill bugs (roly polies) from... three years ago (?) when I got super fixated on them and raised a bunch for a solid year or two :)

Under the cut in case anyone doesn't want to see that, as they are bugs type things and I know that can be squicky for some people:

Here was the first batch of them from when the roly poly fixation started! They all had names but I don't remember them all rn. The tiniest one was creatively called Tiny tho, and the two with golden speckles were Gold and Speckles respectively. There was also a Blue, but I'm not immediately recognizing him here

(dw, thy were given a better terrarium pretty soon)

This one, her name was Sky, has this funny little white spot on her shell, which is why I wanted to get a picture of her. I've seen a couple like that, but I haven't found an explanation for what causes it yet.

A decent chunk of them also had sort of brown or gold shells like this, as opposed to the deep grey/black with white or gold speckles, and this was one of the more golden ones I had (I think they look very cool)

And these next images stray a bit further into "might be squicky" territory but hopefully not too much so:

This is a freshly molted pill bug! They shed half their shell at a time, though I don't think I ever got any pictures of a molted front half. After molting they're sort of soft and pale for maybe a day (?) before they go back to looking just the same as before!

These are very young newborns, as you can tell by the fact that they're still pure white! (after a day or two they get a grey streak) You can actually see a whole bunch of molted shells here too, the smaller white spots scattered between them :)

I actually saw some of the earlier babies born grow into looking fully just like smaller roly polies, looking just like Tiny from the first picture, which was really cool :)

That's the image limit, so I might reblog with a couple more later, but honestly this is most of the good ones — roly polies are small and very hard to get my phone to focus on

There's just so much AFFECTION between Isabela and Bethany in the party banter, and Bethany gets such a short end of the stick by the narrative that I really had to let her get her world rocked by the swarthy sailor with a heart of gold.

secondly: i wrote this fic before so many things happened! hacks season 2, developing an incurable progressive chronic illness, getting married myself!

my wife rarely reads my fic (they support it fully! including meeting fandom friends on our honeymoon lmaoo luv u [redacted]). but i will occasionally gently ask if they'll take a peek at something, because, well, they're the person that taught me everything i know about love, so it goes into the writing!

it took them a long time to read this fic (or it at least felt like it), but when they did, they sent me a notesapp full of annotated reactions... 6 months later , after a decade together, they proposed in a drivethru.

which is to say: i'm pretty sure this fic is the reason i'm currently married, so it will always be my favorite <3
