X-MEN '97 - Little reader who's fussy and tends to have tantrums

Powered through writing this because you're cool as hell and I like you! 💪 I don't and didn't really have the most idk 'attentive' family, so I'm not the best judge on how to take care of kids or people in a kids mindset, I may be a little bad at writing for caregivers and age regression in general because of this.

ANNA MARIE DARKHÖLME / ROGUE

'Hey, hey now sugah, let's calm down, you don't want to go in time out and I don't want to send ya. Explain to me why you don't like the food, I'm perfectly alright gettin' you somethin' different, there ain't no need to get upset.'

Anna can sometimes tell when you're about to have a tantrum or become more fussy than usual, even if you tend to take a while to throw a full fit, she'll watch you carefully and try to prevent one from fully forming. Gently kissing you on the forehead and brushing back your hair, asking what's wrong with a worried look on her face.

The moment you start yelling, kicking, or even crying, maybe after ignoring her question, she finds it hard not to just fold and give you what you want, after all, you're just so cute. However, her sense of responsibility and care for you overwhelms her need to coddle you.

Anna will say your name firmly, getting you to pay attention to her, and only her. She'll get a tissue for you and wipe your tears away, and ask firmly what you're sad or angry about and if you could possibly explain it to her.

If you can't verbally, for whatever reason, she'll give you the opportunity to write it on paper or she'll play a guessing game with you, the guessing game is only for when you're extremely upset and need cheering up though.

If you explain, in whatever format you need to, that you're upset because of an issue that's causing you distress, maybe food triggered sensory issues, someone was mean to you, etc, then she'll let you off the hook because you clearly didn't mean to cause any harm and you were just acting out.

Rogue will give you a bit of a talking to, telling you that crying and throwing things makes it difficult to help, but that's about it. Given it's not your fault she isn't actually too mad, she just wants you to understand that she won't know how to help if you're kicking and screaming.

If, however, your outburst was because of a silly reason, say you don't like the colour crayons and you throw them at her, she won't be as quick to accept it and move on.

She's still very sympathetic and won't ever raise her voice at you, even when you've done something especially terrible for no apparent reason.

Anna is very lenient and her 'punishments' usually just include a minute or so sitting in the corner, maybe withholding drawing from you for the day, but she always makes sure to explain in detail why you're being punished and it's usually only a last resort.

Rogue is very sweet even when she's being stern, her eyes can't help but go soft and her tone slips from that firm scolding one she uses when you're being bad, to a sweet almost coo-like baby voice.

Afterwards she comforts you like there's no tomorrow, telling you that she didn't want to hurt your feelings by taking away something or sending you to the corner, but you just need to learn some manners and how to handle yourself.

If you're fussy in terms of only liking clothes of a certain colour, food cut or made in a certain way, or things being done in a particular order, she absolutely doesn't mind doing these things for you! When it comes to cooking Rogue tends to ask for Gambit's help, she's not the worst cook in the world, but she can't do it like Remy can.

When it comes to removing parts of food, maybe you like to remove the crusts of bread and have them separate or not at all, she'll happily cut them off for you and maybe even eat the crusts while talking to you.

Sometimes she matches clothes with you! After all, 'If you like these clothes, they must be the best ones they got!' She says with a grin.

ORORO MUNROE / STORM

'My child, it's important to remember your manners when speaking to those around you. I am not angry, but you must tell me what is wrong if I am to correct my mistake or you are able to grow.'

The moment she notices you starting to throw a tantrum, which is fairly fast even if your signs are just a deep frown, asking you if everythings alright and most of the time avoiding any tantrums before they begin.

However, sometimes you refuse to tell her what's wrong, perhaps you go straight to throwing toys or food, pouting, yelling, in replying she will simply hold a gentle hand on your shoulder and kindly repeat her question on what the matter is. Her tone is gentle and her face is one of genuine concern.

Like Rogue, if you're in distress because of something that's not your fault, or maybe you're just overwhelmed, she will never hold it against you at all. If you're comfortable with it and it's something you need to calm down, Storm will pick you up and give you a tight hug, if not, she's alright with just holding a hand on your shoulder, or even removing her hand and only speaking to you.

Ororo will get on one knee, bending down to speak to you in a hushed whisper, she'll tell you that it's all okay, that she'll help you and make it better, give you different food, turn off the lights, whatever you need, she can give it to you.

However, if you're just being fussy to perhaps get a reaction out of her, she'll raise her brow in an almost amused action, as if she finds your attempts to be aggravating as cute as a cat nibbling on its owner's hand. If you're throwing a fit just to throw one, she will definitely tell you sternly that you cannot do such things, at least not in her care.

I don't think that Storm is the type to use the corner or naughty step as a punishment, after all, she has her own fear of tight, dark places, you may fear loneliness, or abandonment, she does not wish her own troubles onto a mind like yours.

Instead, she talks to you, more importantly, she'll help you figure out what you did wrong, how to improve next time, and reflect on her own actions to see if the trouble was caused by a mistake on her part. It won't be an in depth conversation, she tends to use stuffed animals as an aid to show you an outsiders perspective.

If you're struggling with saying your words out loud, never fear, she has tons of paper and crayons, or pencils, pen, markers, etc if that's what you prefer, just for you! She keeps them in her room for whenever you regress and want to keep near her when doing so.

Ororo will advise you to draw your feelings, maybe even write a letter if that's more what you're comfortable with. She doesn't mind bad spelling or handwriting, she's quite good at deciphering even the most atrociously unintelligible handwriting.

At most, and only if you've been really bad, she'll lead you to your room, or hers, just to make sure you don't get embarrassed and act out further. Storm will tell you what you did wrong as firmly as she can so that you'll understand. It's only a light scolding though, she never ever raises her voice when you're around unless you need or want her to.

If she ever does raise her voice and it startles or frightens you, she will apologise, regardless of if you've done something wrong or not. It's never her intention to harm you, you've entrusted her to care for you and she will do anything in her power to achieve that goal.

If your fussiness is about certain clothes, textures, toys, etc, she absolutely doesn't mind exclusively getting you certain clothes or toys, and she won't be angry at all if you throw a tantrum over texture or taste, because she's fully aware it can be distressing to have an unfavourable texture of clothing of food.

Ororo will always ask questions about something before she gets it for you, after a while she knows pretty much all of your likes and dislikes.

She's a great cook and can switch the taste or texture in something with just a flick of her wrist, something she doesn't mind doing, especially if the food she's already making is something that causes a lot of stress.

Headcanon’s for Dating X-Men

anon didn’t state which ones to do so I took creative liberty. I like doing head canons, i don’t have to write as formal

starting off with my bae

jk he’s all yours

he puts on a strong facade but when you guys are alone he a little teddy bear

always wanting to cuddle

always wanting to hold you

Always wanting to kiss you

But when you’re in front of the team?

It’s a whole different story

He gives you the cold shoulder

Acts like you don’t even exist

He says it’s for safety reasons

“The bad guys can’t know we’re together or else they’re target you to get to me”

But when you try to ask why he won’t even talk to you around the team because they aren’t bad guys

He claims that he can’t trust them

some part of you believes that he just wants to seem like an eligible bachelor

The people that know of your relationship is Charles and Logan

Charles is a given

Logan walked in on you and Scott making out

He promised not to tell anyone if you two promised not to be so loud

Logan needs his sleep man

Anyways because of Scott keeping the relationship a secret you’ve become insecure

As if you weren’t already

Everytime you try to bring up your concerns he dismisses it

You insecurities have gotten so bad that you begin to distance yourself from everyone

I mean even just seeing them makes you compare yourself to them

Of course Scott notices right away

Because you weren’t only distancing from the rest of the team but from him too

So of course homie tracked you down

Like he actually tracked you down because you have invisible powers (wow shocker)

Anyways so he cornered you after a meeting

“Why are you avoiding me”

“How can I avoid you if you don’t even talk to me in the first place Summers?”

There was people around so against your better judgement you kept the facade

“C’mon Y/n really? This is what this is about?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. Now if you excuse me I have places to be and people to meet”

You were being difficult

But honestly I can’t blame you

So Scott did the only logical thing

He kissed you

Right in front of everyone

You were shocked

“About time” Logan says

when he finally pulled away from the kiss he said that he loved you

Awwwwwwww

Well now your relationship was public

So you stopped distancing yourself

But also you were still insecure

After a while you told Scott about your worries

So every now and then he has to remind you how perfect you are

Also Scott doesn’t really like PDA so him kissing you infront if the team was like a one time thing

Until you and him were in life threatening danger

But that’s a story for another hour

Jean Grey

now onto Jean

let’s just pretend that she didn’t out Bobby for the sake of these headcanons

Jean absolutely adores you

Like sometimes she’ll just stare into your eyes

Unlike Scott she wasn’t one to hide your relationship from the team

but she didn’t exactly tell them

Like she would hug you and cuddle with you infront of them

But they didn’t really peice it together

They just thought you guys were really close

It wasn’t until she got the Phoenix that the team found out

like for some reason it made her incredibly confident

So i mean she just randomly grabbed your face and kissed you

You didn’t really mind

The team was kinda shocked

When the shabloom went down you were there to comfort her and kiss you

after she learned to control the phoenix she was still confident

Like she still would just randomly kiss you in front of the team

During training

During teaching

during meals

And not like pecks

Like full on make out sessions

It got so bad one time that Charles had to put you too in the same room so you wouldn’t have so much pent up tension

if you know what I mean ;)

Anyways you and Jean were perfect for each other

If anyone dared touched you she would rip them to shreds

metaphorically

unless you like actually died

Then the whole world would burn

You would do the same for her

You two match each other’s energy and it’s perfect

Kurt said that he wanted a threesome with you and jeans

Then of course as you and Jean were walking away you said

“Hey let’s have a threesome with Scott”

You weren’t a mutant

You were simply his next door neighbor (and best friend)

When you found out he was mutant you obviously didn’t care

When you found out he had been taking care of raven you supported him

Kinda hurt because of how him and raven were close

But supportive non the less

When he had explained to you the idea of Charles Xavier school for gifted youngsters you supported him

You even moved in with him

His logic was that he needed his best friend by his side

So you have always been supportive of him

When he told you about the X-Men you were hesitant

“Are you sure that’s a good idea Charles?”

“Trust me on this Y/n”

“Ok.”

And so you did

All the x-men were nice

However you didn’t exactly like how Erik constantly said that you were scum

But you could deal with it (for the most part)

One day it had gotten bad though

“Why are you even here Y/n? You’re useless. Utterly and completely useless.”

You just sat there and took his shit

He had started to blow up on you because you used the last of milk

no body else was around to witness it

“Y’know what Erik, you’re right. I am useless. I’m leaving.”

You walked out of the room and the building

are you okay y/n?

Charles get out of my head, we made an agreement

I sensed that you were feeling down

I’m leaving

Why?

Get out of my head and come talk to me

Charles showed up not even 10 seconds later

“If you were so close why didn’t you just talk to me normally”

“Where’s the fun in that?”

You stared into his eyes

Then his lips

Charles just kiss me already

Then he did

After that it was smooth surfing

Well until you got caught in the crossfire

And instead of Charles getting hit

You did

And died

But hey Charles could still walk

Anna Marie (Rogue)

you first met rogue while at Xavier's

It was like love at first sight

well for you

Anna on the other hand avoided you

which was weird

because you practically had the same powers

well not really

you could mimic powers and skills by sight

while rogue could absorb powers and strength by touch for long periods of time

you could only mimic them as long as their in your eyesight

anyways you practically followed rogue around everywhere

trying to get her attention

she just never talked to anyone but charles

when Charles finally classified you and rogue as apart of the x-men you were thrilled

rogue seemed to be too

on your first mission she finally talked to you

"you're pretty cool"

"so are you"

You smiled as you defeated the next villian

after that you and rogue continue getting closer and closer till you too finally revealed feeling for one another

Rogue was to scared to do anything that could result in skin to skin contact

so all you really did was hand holding

until you convinced her to kiss you

"are you sure about this"

"100% percent"

"then why do we have to do it infront of everybody"

"incase something goes wrong"

"but you're 100% sure"

"Look hank says that my powers will cancel out yours and we'll be fine as long as I keep my eyes open"

"Just kiss already!" Jean shouts

and with that, you lean in and kiss Anna

it was as magical as you expected

and nothing went wrong

now anna wasn't afraid to touch you

life was good

Remy LeBeau (Gambit)

you met remy on the streets

you thought he was a prostitute at first

but turns out he was just recruiting you to be a part of the x-men

"I think, I'll pass"

"C'mon darling we could really use someone with your skills"

"Are you sure you're not a prostitute?"

He laughs and hands you a card

"Call me if you change your mind"

The interaction kept replaying in your head

so you called him

you became a part of the x-men

yay

anyways you were sparring with gambit

when things got a little heated

like a tad

"What the fuck was that? You do that out in the field and you're gonna end up six feet under."

"Oh please, don't act like you give a fuck!"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I'm done sparring with you, I'm gonna go find a different partner. Maybe Scott."

"We're not done here y/n!"

"Yeah, we are!"

You storm off to your room where you find jean

"You gotta fix the sexual tension between you and Remy. It's literly killing me!"

"What tension?"

"You're not dumb y/n, figure it out."

As she walks out, Remy walks in

"I do care about you"

You hum in response

"m'sorry"

"ugh. just kiss me already."

Then you kiss

anyways you and Remy date

Unlike Scott, he's really one for PDA

like we're talking kisses out of nowhere

he constantly reminds you that you're his

and you remind him that you're not an object

For mental health reasons, I'm going back to my roots and doing imagines again, but this time with my new fixation: the xmen (doesn't mean I won't do fics btw, just that it's not my main content anymore).

Here's X-men with a human s/o

Cyclops

Very chill about it, as with most things

He's one of the biggest believers of "humans and mutants are equal", so he really doesn't even think about the difference between you two

Well, ok, he does in times of danger and crisis tho

He's the type to try and explain that he doesn't think you're weak, per say...

It's just that there are some things and people out here that you simply can't defend yourself against

Scott is naturally protective, but he's just a little more alert for trouble when he's with you

Gambit

Actually, sometimes I feel like he doesn't really consciously identify as a "mutant" tbh

By that I mean, he considers himself to be just like anyone else, rather then being a Mutant First(tm), human second type

He's a "Can't we all get along" type, until someone starts causing trouble for mutants

....Which happens rather often, it seems

He doesn't hate humans, but he's a little suspicious at times

He'll flirt with you easy, but when things start getting serious he may start to lay off a little

It's not personal, you just need to earn his trust a little first

Thankfully, he's a good judge of character and will come around in his own time

Jean

You guys get along so well!

Unsurprisingly, Jean has the same mindset as Scott as far as human and mutant relations

It's a little easier for her to blend into human society then it is for Scott however

That, and her lighter personality make it so that you wouldn't even know she's with the X-men at all

She's nothing if not transparent tho, and as long as she trusts you, will be pretty forthcoming about it all

Jean does feel a bit of responsibility in keeping you safe from harm, but she's not as inadvertently condescending about it as Scott can sometimes be

But don't be fooled, just because she's a little more tactful about it doesn't mean she's going to let you anywhere near danger tho

Nightcrawler

Interestingly, Kurt also holds the mutants and humans are equals ideology too, even with all he's been through at the hands of humans

The two are both created equally after all, and the sins of the few do not mean the sins of all as far as he's concerned

He is, however, very aware of his appearance meaning it's quite impossible for him to go the gambit route and act as though he too is "just like everyone else", despite how he feels

He's probably just more surprised that you actually want to be with him then anything specifically about you being a human or something tbh

I could see him trying to use an image inducer around you a lot, at least for the first little while

Don't worry tho, after a while and with some reassurance, he'll get used to going about in his natural form

Kurt's power is extremely passive rather then aggressive, just like his personality, so while I defiantly see him being protective of you...

He's more likely to just teleport you both away and stay out of dodge rather then fight for your honor or anything lol

Rogue

If you think being with Jean is a cool time, just go ahead and crank that up to 11 with Rogue

She honestly doesn't give a shit about whether you're a fellow mutant or not, and once she knows, she doesn't think about it

Well, sometimes in a moment of insecurity she might... But never does she think about you in a bad way

She's probably the most relatable in a sense, because as a mutant who looks fully human, she also wants nothing more then to be human too

Maybe you two can work out a way to get in quick moments of contact without it being to dangerous for you

She'll protest this, of course, but who knows? Maybe it's possible to build a little resistance

Because if such a thing is possible...

Gosh, you better get ready, because she'd never leave your side after all you've done to try and get closer to her

Sabretooth

Ok ok, I know that like basically ever since the 80s or so Sabretooth has been portrayed as little more then a bloodthirsty, human hating, killing machine...

But in his earlier debuts, at least once he's expressed a genuine sense of loneliness and desire to acquire a partner for himself

Sure to get there he basically kidnapped a human woman and held her hostage down in the tunnels where he was living, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't want to know how this could possibly work out would you?

I'll also have you know that in that very same comic, he's described by said woman as having been surprisingly nice to her and showing no signs of aggression, so there's that

Personally I kind of... don't like "smart sabretooth", if you will, but in a world where he can speak in complete sentences and use technology without smashing it in a fit of frustrated rage:

He will never let you forget that you are an itty bitty human and will tease you for it a lot

Don't take this as him not caring about you though, he's easily the most protective mf-er on this list and would, quite literally, both kill and die for you

No one gets to touch his frail

Storm

Another one for the humans and mutants are equal lot

She does, however, acknowledge that there are more often then not, notable differences between the two tho

Storm admires human resilience as well as their capacity for good, despite what some of the masses may get up to

As a result, she tends to see that trait in you and appreciates your support for mutant rights and freedoms

She can be a little intense and seem stern at times, but that's really only when she's been on missions

It can be difficult for her to relax because of how her emotions tie into her powers, but she says that simply being able to enjoy your company helps

If you two really get to know each other, you might catch her growing a little more playful with her powers around you

A gust of wind to tussle your hair, a splash of rain to cool you off, stuff like that

Times like these are rare admittedly, but knowing she's this comfortable around you is a reward all in it's own

Toad

Sabretooth is a special case, so he's excluded here, but Toad definably has the hardest time of all the others here getting on with a human s/o

It may have something to do with his feral nature, but while Vic still expresses the desire to "find a mate", be them human or mutant, despite what he too went through at the hands of humans as a kid...

Toad has no such designs, neither to go with his mutation nor to simply help him push past his childhood hatred for humans

Kurt may think he knows how it feels to be mocked, feared, and shunned, but even he eventually found some peace in his little monastery

Mort has had no such luck. Even his fellow mutants belittle him

Any advance from a human, even just friendly ones, will be instantly rejected

...However. He won't go so far as to completely keep distance from you

He may hate humans, but... Well... Maybe there is a little piece of him that's still holding on for acceptance

He's EXTREMELY slow to trust you, but once it's earned, you'll find he's actually very sweet and caring

Unfortunately tho, I don't really see him being able to drop the inferiority complex he's had ingrained into him anytime soon

Wolverine

Are you kidding? This guy has had so many human relationships, it's almost a joke

He never really talks about it, but there have been a few rare times where wolverine, like Rogue, has also expressed a desire to just be human instead of a mutant

Unlike Rogue, he will never discuss this with you however and assuming you don't somehow know he's a mutant before hand, he will most likely do his best to make sure things stay that way

Especially if he reeeeeally likes you

He more so hates what was done to him rather then his actual powers tbh, so while he's not particularly ashamed of being a mutant or anything like that...

He'd just rather you didn't know unless if you have to

Regardless of if you know or not, he's a close second to Sabre for most over protective mf-er on this list lol

In fact, this trait of his is most likely how you end up finding out he's a mutant

Okay so I promised myself that I wasn't gonna talk about this show(at least not on this app) but the way people are reacting to all of the love triangles in X-men 97 is fucking hilarious. I’m sorry but if you can’t handle the Jean/Cyclops/Wolverine or the Rouge/Gambit/Magneto love triangles then X-men(or comicbooks in general) is not the franchise for you. I’m so sick of people on this app calling Rouge and Jean every derogatory name under the sun because they can’t handle a little conflict. Comic-books are full of Soap Opera levels of drama, if you’re gonna be a fan please get use to it

Being in Love With Rogue (Unrequited) (Fem! Reader)

A/N: Sorry yall but she’s my girlfriend, I fought Magneto and Gambit and won and now I kiss her every night

Warnings: Unrequited love, ANGST

Oh, it was so obvious to everyone in the Mansion how much you looked up to and adored the feisty southern Belle. She was absolutely beautiful, so strong and independent, never took any shit from anyone, and very headstrong and opinionated, what was there not to like about her? She was perfect, except…she was with Gambit, her soulmate. You couldn’t help but hate the swamp rat, wanting to be in his place so badly. Everyone could sense your feelings about the two of them, everyone except for Rogue herself. When you saw them kiss, you had the leave the room because of the anger boiling in you, and the sharp sting to your heart knowing he could touch her but you’d never be able to

Luckily almost everyone in the Mansion knew exactly what it was like seeing the one you were in love with love somebody else. Well, except Jean and Scott, but everyone else. Morph would sometimes make jokes about it, Wolverine would tell him to shut up and leave you be, Storm would rest a hand on your shoulder in silent comfort, Beast would say some intelligent quote you didn’t quite care about. You’d never fully quite come out to the team as sapphic, but it was painfully obvious and they accepted you without question. Jubilee and Roberto would often ask why you never told her your feelings for her before she had gotten with Gambit, but you never could answer them. Maybe you were too shy, too afraid of what she’d say, you didn’t know. But you knew she wouldn’t truly want to be with you if she couldn’t touch you, no matter how badly you wanted her

“Don’t worry kid, you’ll get over her soon enough.” Wolverine would say

“Maybe Gambit will turn her gay soon, who knows! He has awful guy habits.” Morph would quip

“To burn with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring ourselves.” Beast would quote

“Perhaps you should talk to her, get some of it off of your chest.” Storm would agree

None of it helped, you couldn’t bring yourself to make her love life more complicated after all that Magneto and Gambit drama she had dealt with a few months ago. You didn’t need her to know, you didn’t see any point in it, nothing would change for you. You’d excuse yourself from your friends and go to your room to wallow, still feeling hopelessly heartbroken after watching Gambit dip and kiss her in the middle of the basketball court

Gambit was fully aware you had a crush on his girlfriend. He wasn’t upset about it, he knew exactly how you felt, but you refused to talk to him about it or let him help you in any way. You were bitter and jealous of him, even if he was nothing but chill and nice to you. He did make an effort not to flaunt his relationship too much in your face, but he couldn’t help it if Rogue wanted a kiss from him while you happened to be there, it’s not like he’s deny her and you understood that

One day during a mission, things went south and Rogue got hurt badly. You couldn’t stop yourself from running to her to help, only to be beat by Gambit rushing over to help his girlfriend. You forced yourself to refocus back on the attacking Sentinels, feeling your feelings finally boil over and you raged against the robots, blasting them to bits and punching them far after they were down. You finally stopped when your knuckles bled profusely and tears overflowed your eyes, making you sob into your hands in a pile of broken machinery. You heard Morph and Jean trying to get your attention and ask you what was wrong, but you had been bottling up your feelings for so long you couldn’t hold them back anymore

“Y/N? What’s wrong, sugah?”

You looked behind you to see Rogue standing with some of the others, concern warping her face as she held her injured arm. You stared at her pretty face for a moment before quickly wiping your face and standing up, feeling like an immature child in front of them all. You whispered a quick “nothing” before attempting to leave, only to be stopped by Rogue grabbing your shoulder

“Y/N, we used ta be best friends! You can tell me! I don’t know what changed, but I want ta help ya!” She pleased with you, the other X-Men taking the hint and shuffling over to another area to let the two of you talk. Gambit made eye contact with you and gave you a nod, before joining the others out of earshot

“R-Rogue, I…I can’t tell you!” You cried out, dissolving into tears yet again right in front of her

“Of course ya can! You could tell me ya loved my boyfriend and I’d still listen!” She sat down with you in the rubble of the fight, tucking some of your messy hair behind your ear. Your breath hitched at the comment, knowing she was very close to being correct

“That’s uh…sorta the problem.” You finally admitted, looking down at your lap on shame. “Except…cept it’s not him I love…”

Rogue stared at you in confusion for a moment, before everything clicked in her head. Oh. That explains why you distanced yourself from her, stopped sharing everything with her, stopped coming to her when you needed someone, didn’t want to be friends with her anymore…

“Oh, Y/N.” She sighed, raising a hand to hold your chin to make you look at her. “Honey, I had no idea. I just thought…I didn’t realize. I’m so sorry. If I had known I wouldn’t’a been so…I’m so sorry!” She tugged you into a hug, her own eyes tearing up

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, I just…I didn’t want to complicate things for you even more. I didn’t want to be a burden on you.” You shyly hugged back, your first hug in what felt like forever. You buried your face in her fluffy hair, breathing in her scent and holding onto her tightly

“You could never be a burden on me, sweetie! I should’ve seen it, now that you say that it was so obvious! I didn’t mean to ignore you or make you feel like I didn’t care about ya! I do! I love ya! Just…not in the way ya want me to.”

“That’s okay, you don’t have to! I shouldn’t have been such a baby and just told you, woulda saved me a lot of heartache. Storm was right about that.”

“Aw man, did everybody know but me?” She laughed, pulling away and wiping her eyes of tears

“Kind of.” You giggled, wiping your own tears and smiling up at her

After that mission, your friendship was mended and you went back to telling her everything and going to her if you needed her. She was more mindful of PDA around you and didn’t talk to you about Remy unless you were okay with it (you were especially okay with it when they were fighting and he did some stupid shit). Your other friends were glad to see the two of you finally talking and being the duo you had always been, but you still drank with Wolverine and cried about her to him, who wasn’t fully paying attention to you and probably thinking of a certain red head he loved…

"Rogue, you are justifiably angry, but rampaging across the country shames those who were lost in Genosha." Steve said.

"Skip the hogwash and tell me what America's top cop is doin' all the way out here." Rogue said, snatching Steve's shield up in her hands.

"To make sure you don't do somethin you'll regret. But to also find Gyrich and Boliver Trask." Y/N said, landing by Steve.

"Y'all mean to tell me that you came all this way to check on 'little ol' me? Y'all sure know how to make a gal blush."

"I assume you'll be a team player?" Steve asked.

"Depends. What do you got?"

"Gyrich was transferred to a facility in Mexico City. Once I get the thumbs up, I'll lead my team to Mexico to apprend Gyrich." Steve said.

"I reckon we nab Gyrich now before our mystery boys move him again."

"This uniform shows up in Mexico bashing heads in with you. It sends a message."

"Damn right. That you stand with mutants." Rogue offers Steve his shield, and he makes a grab, but Rogue pulls back. "Unless you don't now?"

"Gotta do this by the book, Rogue. Right now, it's complicated."

"I'm sure it is." Rogue frowns.

"Rogue, we all want the same thing. Justice for mutant kind." Y/N said.

"Well, that's the thing, sugah. You ain't no mutant." She hovers in the air and flies out of the underground facility of an abandoned cabin and broke through the surface and tossed Steve's shield towards a mountain. She and Steve lock eyes before she flies off.

"Steve?" Y/N asked.

"Follow her, Y/N. I'll catch up. After I get my damn shield back." Steve said.

"Language, Cap." Y/N flew off.

Deep Diver x Reader Headcanons

Let's dive right into what your relationship would look like, shall we? P.S. I used she and he pronouns for Mary :D

🫧Mary was your friend for a while and the two of you had some {okay, a lot of} romantic tension. It was no secret to toons and Cogs alike and both sides were encouraging you guys to start dating.

🫧The two of you talked about it and mutually confessed, so you decided to give dating a go!

🫧She's very kindhearted and likes to give you tons of compliments... and a hug afterwards.

🫧Loves to go diving in the ocean with you so he can teach you about all the different plants and animals that live underwater. If you don't know how to swim, he's now teaching you!

🫧Mary loves it when you visit her while she's working for a quick chit chat. And you're not leaving without a kiss goodbye!

🫧Technically he's not supposed to talk to you while he's working because his superiors found out about his relationship with you, but nobody's gonna tell on him for a quick chat. You're also not allowed to fight him anymore since the Toon Resistance decided it was a conflict of interests.

🫧Sometimes she accidentally rambles on and on about fish and the ocean in general since it's her special interest, but she always apologizes profusely afterwards. If you tell her to keep talking and that you like hearing about it, you are winning a lot of points with her.

🫧Expect to eat cutely fish-shaped meals when Mary cooks for you.

🫧If anyone does something bad to you, especially if that wasn't their first time hurting somebody, he will make a deep dive video about them to expose them. He has quite the social media following, so he can effectively cancel and expose people at will {but he actually uses it responsibly}.

🫧I hope you like fish, because Mary has a room in her house with a few big aquariums. Different ones are either to separate fish and plants that do well at different temperatures or to prevent fish from being eaten/fighting with each other. Her favorite fish is in her room, though, and it's a really beautiful betta fish with its own large tank.

🫧He will teach you how to take care of his fish just because he likes talking about it so much. From the specific conditions each fish needs to how to cycle a tank, you will eventually learn a LOT about caring for pet fish! Unfortunately, this means you will start to notice how poorly a lot of fish are cared for and you will probably start to advocate for better fish care.

🫧Kiss her... a lot. Do it. She LOVES kisses and will gladly reciprocate.

🫧In general, he really likes physical affection and giving and receiving compliments.

🫧She also likes to talk about you to her close friends {a lot}. She just adores you and loves you so much!

🫧Overall, Mary has a heart of gold and loves to spend time with you, especially if he's also teaching you about the ocean.

Mary Anna (Deep Diver) Relationship Headcanons:

There are many benefits to dating a marine biologist.

I hope you like the ocean, because that's 90% of what Mary talks about. If you actually do? Congratulations, you're the best thing that's ever happened to her.

If you're not already initiated on the wonders of the ocean and all it holds, rest assured that she'll tell you everything you could possibly want to know and more.

She could literally talk for hours about it with this gorgeous passionate sparkle in her eyes; it's that important to her. Taking genuine interest in what she says is a surefire way straight to her heart.

She does have a bad habit of dominating conversations, but she's willing to work on that for someone she cares about. Tell her about your own passions and what makes you tick!

Aquarium dates seem like the obvious choice, but Mary has opinions on aquariums. If it's dedicated to rehabilitating marine life and educating the public on it, she's fine with it, but she's not a fan of taking creatures from the vast seas and confining them to (relatively) small tanks.

If you do go to one together, she won't even need to read the little plaques to tell you everything about every creature on display. Others might even mistake her for a tour guide.

She'd much rather show you marine life in its natural habitat, though. That's right: you're going scuba diving together. Don't know how? She's qualified to teach you, and she's a very patient teacher, to boot.

If you'd prefer something less active, you two can sit by the water as the sun sets and have deep conversations about life, the ocean, and whatever other passions you may have. And water puns. So, so many water puns. Mary doesn't even realize she makes them every ten seconds.
