@florietiae said: raven blew a breath through her lips, nose ducked into a book. she's only barely levitating off the floor. hardly even notices , in fact. wasn't really expecting for anyone to walk in. it's slow, and getting dark. she'll have to go home soon. she's not all too worried. that is, until she just so happens to glance up. oh. it's steven. casual, easy-going steven. fuck. where does she even start ? 'um,' one blink, then two. ' would it help if i said that it's not as scary as if looks?' / bye --
Steven is fully prepared to quietly back out of the room, tell himself he's seeing things, and never bring this up with Raven again.
But then she speaks, and it becomes next to impossible to keep his head down and pretend none of this is happening.
She's... floating. Hovering. It's like in that movie The Exorcist--or at least Steve assumes it's like that. He never actually saw the film, because it always sounded far too frightening for his tastes.
Not as scary as it looks. Oh, right, shit, should he be scared right now?
He takes a small shuffle-step backwards, glancing around as though someone else will show up and calmly explain to him what the proper response is to discovering that your coworker can fly. No such luck.
"I--uh, I won't tell anyone," he finally settles on, bringing his hands up palm-out to placate her. Not that she seems too angry or evil right now, but if nothing else, this has proven that he knows absolutely nothing about her; she always was a little hard to read, but this is on a whole new level.
"Just don't... magic... me?"

at the funeral my 85 year old great-aunt asked to see a photo of my cat, and so I said “sure” and showed her this, and she just said “oh”, visibly struggled to follow that up with anything, and then walked away.

Just found out my facebook birding group is public because my cousin (a lawyer who is not into birds) casually said to me “saw you couldn’t identify a willet the other day… pretty embarrassing”

Big fan of sun motifs in characters not necessarily being about positivity and happiness and how they're so " bright and warm" but instead being about fucking brutal they are.
Radiant. A FORCE of nature that will turn you to ash. That warmth that burns so hot it feels like ice. Piercing yellow and red and white. A character being a Sun because you cannot challenge a Sun without burning alive or taking everything down with them if victorious.
