do you have any hcs for barnacles and dashi ? I'm rewatching it and many episodes start with the two of them in the main area , oftentimes there's a third person involved but it's always the two of them so they must spend alot of time around each other :O 10 / 10 bonding

Had to think hard about this since Dashi's role in the main series is so small—but you're actually so right 👀 10/10 buddies 👍

You'll get my headcanons I promise but first you gotta listen to me infodump, okay? Deal:

I personally headcanon that Dashi was one of the first Octonauts, she hasn't been around a super long time- but at least long enough that she was probably around for the first Octopod, and that would give her and Barnacles (and the other OGs) plenty of time to get close.

We know Inkling canonically founded the Octonauts, but I imagine that it was actually Barnacles who picked out the crew—over various fateful encounters (Kwazii, Peso), or already knowing them (Tweak)—with the two exceptions of Dashi and Shellington.

Shellington heard about them through the kelp vine by pure chance, and got himself a job via determination. Then, at some point—he recommended Dashi to Barnacles or Inkling, and got her a position as an intern. (He knew her through her photography; she took pictures for him once or something like that.)

I also headcanon they weren't called The Octonauts yet at that point. I headcanon that Dashi came up with the "Octonauts" name during her first few days, and they kept it. (Coincidentally, the first Octopod crashed during those first few days. T'was completely unrelated, I promise 😅)

Fast forward: I've been thinking about Dashi in AnB a lot lately, and the one question that keeps coming up is: "Why did Barnacles make her the Captain of the Octoray?"

They haven't addressed it in the show yet, and it felt a little bit like the writers just wanted her to Do Something, y'know? So I went back to rewatch some of her main series episodes, and this scene from The Surfing Snails stuck out:

This scene shows how much he trusts her. He trusts her to make the right calls, and to be careful. He shows this trust in her again in the Wild Windstorms:

"...I'm ready for this!"

"I know you are, Dashi."

I REALLY wish they had spent more time giving her some kind of arc, showing this trust being built. She absolutely deserved an arc like Peso's, where we could've seen her growth and her bond with Barnacles getting stronger. It would've made the Octoray thing make much more sense, and I would've loved to actually SEE her evolution from "getting stuck in a whale shark" to "inventing stuff with Tweak" to the level of respect that Barnacles clearly has for her in S4 and Beyond, but instead it feels like all that stuff happened off-screen.

I also wanna point out real quick; that Dashi is one of the select few characters to ever call Barnacles by his first name only. This is something that the writers frequently use to emphasize closeness between Barnacles and someone else (Kwazii, Natquik, etc), and Dashi has done it twice. I'll admit I thought it was an error the first time, but then I caught her doing it again in Sac Actun. SO CLEARLY THEY ARE CLOSE. YES? WE AGREE. YES.

*slams hands down on table* MISC. HEADCANON TIME ‼️ (which technically, could all totally be canon until the writers finally decide to give us real information ✨)

She has 100% read ALL of his books and journals, at least twice. Sometimes he gives them to her so she can beta read them, and she's also helped edit a few.

She has written her own journals, mostly in the form of scrapbooks, that she shares with him too. He has a first edition signed copy of one of them.

She made friendship bracelets for everyone on the ship after the Octopod was rebuilt, and he keeps his on his desk. It's still in mint condition.

I feel like at least ONE of the cameras in her collection was a gift from him.

She is trained on how to steer the Octopod manually. Considering the only two on board at the time who knew how to do it were Barnacles and Tweak—her showing slight interest was the only convincing he needed to teach her.

Sadly, she's never needed to use this skill. Yet.

She learned how to play harmonica when he decided to learn accordion, so they could duet together, but she got the hang of it much faster than he did.

They work out together sometimes. She's much stronger than she looks—and has won an arm wrestling match against him at LEAST once. She's also beat him in a foot race; it was almost a very close tie, and she needed to lay down for an hour after—but she did it. He will never live either of these down.

They definitely gossip in HQ sometimes, when it's just the two of them.

summary: you and your boyfriend rúben travel to monaco for the f1 grand prix, not knowing that your ex-boyfriend mason, who still has feelings for you, would also be there.

pairing: rúben dias x reader, ft. mason mount

a/n: this idea has been stuck in my head for a while but I'm not confident in writing a full fic so I did an instagram au instead ,, enjoy !!

the original idea: the reader working for city as a photographer where you meet rúben and eventually start dating. he takes you to monaco for the grand prix, where you where you see mason, your ex. despite the breakup being messy, he still has feelings for you so whenever he'd see rúben hold you close or do cute coupley things, you could sense the jealousy.

James: i mean sally runs the hotels official instagram page and all other socials and he probably has no idea that she’s doing that until he finds out she posted some image of video of him on one of the accounts and then some guests recognize him at the hotel and say like ‘omg ur that guy!!’ and he has no idea what it all means n shit. I think he would get a great kick out of instagram reels like non tiktok but you know how like a month after a trend happens on tiktok then it goes to reels? right like he eats that shit up he thinks its the funniest goddamn thing like funny cat videos or someshit

Kai: right so like we all know he trolls reddit and 4chan and posts rude reviews on thatcow. the kinda guy that kyle finds himself internet battling like this is the enemy he's been preparing for. he has a tiktok to stay relevant and he's just a comment section lurker 'user17896379' type shit he just likes various biggoted comments and occasionally replies just to start fights and shit. he's got a facebook and insta where he's totally normal tho like 'hey guys vote me for senate!!' again similar to kyle but like opposite ends of the same spectrum. i would love to view his search history. searches the most despicable things on p0rn websites every time he yanks it and i just am desperate to know what shit he's looking at

I was curious bcz I have not experienced pregnancy 2 my knowledge 🤨 & so I questiond if pregnant women get aroused & want sex, too. It looks like some women actually have increased libido while others have decreased libido. If you can’t get pregnant while being pregnant why not? in 8th grade year of school I wore a boys oversized 4 me dark blue zip up hoodie. I also wore it during the summer. I have a picture of me wearing it at my sisters birthday party @ Johnny rockets 🚀. 8th grade year after school I found a ring 💍 in the girls bathroom with a rose 🌹 gold looking pendant? On it. I did not know about rose gold @ that time probably. I should have turned it on to the office but I didn’t. I started wearing it with in the last 2 years on my left ring finger. I’m not sure/ cannot remember anymore of what I felt when I saw it. I think I might have (1206 am interrupted) had a weird thought that it was a present 4 me? That year I was punched in the head by a girl in 1 of my classes & I remember my vision blacking out for probably a minute. She struck me right on top of my head 2-3 times while I was sitting in a chair. No actually warning. I took it & didn’t complain out loud. I might have written 2 the teacher once but nothing seemed 2 happen. Whenever I tell my mom she said she was never told about it b4. So I guess as an excuse 4 myself 😖 I might have been a little retarded at the time I found it. That same year I think my friend told me my hair looked red in the sun & purple in the shade @ lunch time . Elementary school years my hair was probably black, straight, soft. Sometime after 7th grade photos my hair lightened up 2 dark brown & a little wavy. She is Japanese so she probably watched a lot of anime that the characters’ hair color even though black would have reflective? Colors like red, blue, purple? I think 🤔 I remember that. Going back 2 Brandon Boyd’s birthday 2/15/76, day after Valentine’s Day, if James valentines were a day in calendar & the whole band were 2 dress up as calendar days I’d assign Valentine’s Day 2 James. & Brandon Boyd’s birthday 2 Adam Levine.

How you found out:

You were watching tv, not expecting anything big to happen when you get a text from Cater. W for cater, L for trey

"Heyyy did u and trey brake up or smthg????? hes getting real cozy w/sum1 else rn. i saw him on another person's magicam and they were LITTERALY on his lap >:|"

You quickly said no and Cater sent you a link to the magicam account. Just like he said, Trey was feeling up someone else while you were completely unaware. But what really pissed you off was the caption:

"So glad we could celebrate our 3 month anniversary together! <3"

The Confrontation

You waited for Trey to text you to go on a date before actually confronting him about it. You weren't just waiting around doing nothing though, you and Cater were working together to gather enough evidence that Trey couldn't deny it.

You had both agreed to go to the park so you can embarrass him in front of a bunch of people

Every time he tried to kiss you or even touch you, you leaned away. It made you sick thinking about how he was acting like this with another person and without a shred of remorse. bitch

"Are you ok? You've barely spoken to me all day."

That's when you let him have it. Every magicam photo, comment, with dates and location. And there was a ton. Cater really did his homework

Trey stammered and tried to deny all of your claims. "They were just a friend. We were posing like that as a joke! We were kidding about the anniversary post!"

You were having none of it. Every lie he told you, you had a photo that said the exact opposite. the law has nothing on your best friend You decided to end the charades and showed him one last photo.

Dms between you and the person he was cheating on you with. Where they very clearly stating that they were dating Trey and were just as hurt to find out they were cheating as you were.

You walked away as Trey stood watching you fade from his view. Not only did he lose you, he lost most of the people he was ever close with. Justice is sweet

Jamil Viper

How you found out

You weren’t trying to be clingy but you were seeing your boyfriend less and less everyday. You asked Kalim if he was making Jamil work harder for any reason but he had quickly said no and that Jamil was actually leaving him earlier than usually lately. Why tf would you leave him alone

Of course, this put you on edge. So you chose to do a little research of your own before confronting him about his disappearances. When scrolling through Kalim’s magicam because Jamil thinks he’s above social media and found an account with a familiar last name: Najma Viper.

You message her and find out that she’s Jamil’s little sister, and you were also told that Jamil had been seeing someone else. She texted you saying “I thought that you were an ex or something because he was talking to me about dating someone completely different.”

That’s when an idea came to your mind. And you were going to need the help of a very willing younger Viper. Hell yea im making this messy and you cant stop me

The Confrontation

You were unsure if your plan was going to work, but you had the ever-so-reliable element of suprise on your side.

You met up with Jamil while he was preparing Kalim’s lunch. It was honestly the only time where you could gaurantee that he would be alone for a long period of time. Kalim eats like 3 courses for one meal like the growing boy he is

“Hmm? Oh, there you are. I haven’t seen you a lot lately, darling.” hypocrite

You slowly start the conversation by asking why he hasn’t been around you as of late. He tries to convince you that it was actually you who had been changing your schedule to avoid him and not the other way around.

You then mention that even Kalim has noticed his odd behavior, which is when you notice a very brief change of expression on his face. Then, you continue to talk before doing a very carefully planned name drop.

“Even Najma’s confused about how you’ve been acting.”

He visibly paused. Think of a window’s error screen. He then tried to explain that his sister wasn’t to be trusted and that you shouldn’t have spoken with her.

You then pulled your phone out of your pocket and spoke into the phone. “Did you hear that? Can’t believe your own brother just said that about you.”

Jamil quickly realized what you had done. You had brought his own sister as a witness to his trial of infidelity. You didn’t let him come up with a rebuttal before giving your final verdict. You broke up with him while he was still holding Kalim’s falafel. Ha. loser.

Oh well, you might have just lost your boyfriend but you still made a new friend along the way. :)
