Hello! Sorry if this is a weird blog to ask, but we really enjoy your blog and we don’t really follow many blogs in general (a social anxiety thing ^^;)
Do you happen to know any good resources/information about projection? Pluralpedia defines projection as “When a system experiences having a headmate appear outside of their physical body.” and says “This can be voluntary or involuntary, and it may be done by certain thoughtforms to help with creation.”
We’ve had experiences with projection since we were younger (around preteen age, maybe a little before) but we’ve never really known how to talk about it. We’ve dealt with it in a plural and non-plural manner, we’ve actually had way more instances of it being non-system related but we’re kinda hoping this ask can push us in the right direction!
(We know your pinned says that you don’t do any diagnosing stuff, so we wanted to make sure to add that that’s not what we’re looking for! We’re trying to find resources :].)
Thanks for any info you can provide! We’re very new to projection as a label
Hiya! Our system doesn’t know much about projection… so sorry about this!! >_<
We believe that projection is a common practice for those who are practitioners of paromancy and daemonism! So we’ll go ahead and link some resources from some daemonism and paromancy sites!
(We do believe that projection is sometimes also referred to as “imposition,” where a headmate’s physical form is “imposed” on the outside world. So we’re including resources that use both of these terms! If they actually mean two different things, we’re sorry for mixing them up!! >_<”)
We hope one of these links might have some information that’s useful for you!! I’m really sorry that we couldn’t provide better resources or assistance here >_<
If anyone sees this who knows of some good resources on projection, sharing them would be amazing!! Thank you so much!! :3

One thing I've always wanted since I got into hypnosis in middle school is to be hypnotized to see myself as some sort of furry creature (and as of 2020, to see myself as my fursona, my dragon!). And while I don't see that happening for me anytime soon, one way I like to live that dream vicariously is through some of my subjects.
There's a decent amount of subjects out there who have imposition/phantom touch so it's always lovely to give them attention, pets, cuddles, all that stuff. Sometimes I'll have them feel me purr. But there are a few subjects out there who are able to not only feel but see things with hypnosis too, and that's where I have the most fun, because I'll just have them see my fursona like I'm right there!
She looks like this, by the way:
Tumblr media
Gosh, the sheer amount of things I do with those kind of subjects, I wouldn't be able to list them all. But definitely lots of cuddles, wrapping them up in my tail, having them feel me purr against them, telling them about my lavender scent and how calming it is. With one subject, I'll often snuggle with him while we're vibing in a call, sit on his lap or have him sit on mine. Haha, there was a time where he was having trouble going to bed consistently so I'd have my dragon self drag him to bed at a certain time each night (and I still do it once in a while when he's stubborn). I like to joke about the fact that my sona's basically a big cat inside of a dragon's body so sometimes I'll lick the top of people's heads like I'm a momma cat. I've been experimenting with biting and choking people with my tail as well. Lotta paw worshipping. Like a loooott lol. Spiral eyes as well, and lately I've given my sona a lavender mist she can breathe out that's super hypnotic. It's great honestly. Oh and lots of more not-safe-for-Tumblr stuff as well, you can bet haha.
It's also honestly helped a lot with my gender expression! It took me a while to come up with the form I express myself as now, but I was able to experiment a lot because a couple of close subjects were able to see my sona in whatever way I wanted present her as! Idk if it'd be a good idea to post the NSFT ref sheet on here but she's a gynomorph, I believe? Think a male body but with breasts, and you can use whatever the term for that is.
I am like suuuper jealous of those friends who are able to see my ideal self so easily, haha, but at the same time it's really nice because they talk about how calming it is for them and it helps them feel a lot happier. (and if they don't outright say it, I can definitely see it!)
but yeah, I just wanted to put that out there into the wild, it's pretty cool. :3

Prompt #679
Person A yawned as they trudged down the sidewalk, heading into the corner store while keeping an eye on their companion. Nobody else could see them – honestly, Person A couldn't really "see" them themself, only visualize them being there – but it didn't really matter; it was just an extra layer of immersion they gave themself as they spoke to their imaginary companion (mentally, of course; they really didn't want to find out how others would react if they saw someone talking to themself as if someone else was there). 'What do you want to get, Person B?'
'Eh? From the store, you mean?' Person B asked, but shook their head before Person A could confirm that was what they meant. 'Right, of course you meant from the store. Uh, I dunno, maybe one of those danishes you got the other day?'
Person A hummed as they went down the right aisle for that, looking over the danishes carefully. Not what they were originally planning to get, but hey, might as well. They were pretty good danishes. 'Do you want a particular kind?'
Person B leaned over their shoulder to peer at the danishes with Person A. 'Cheese?'
'Sure,' Person A agreed, but as they were picking it up –
'Do you ever think it's weird, that you're asking my opinions on these things? You don't need to. You can just get what you want; I'm just happy to come along and talk to you.'
Person A stopped. They couldn't look at Person B directly without giving the impression that they were staring at nothing, but they turned their head somewhat in their direction, as if they were looking over the snacks next to them. 'What do you mean?'
'It's just...' Person B rubbed the back of their wrist – an action Person A often did when nervous. 'You can't really do anything except talk to me, especially outside – I can't even eat these pastries myself. But you buy them because I ask for them, anyway. Why not save yourself some money and just get what you want?'
Person A blinked. Did Person B not know? They were from Person A's imagination; surely, they should know something as simple as that. But then, Person B had never made complete sense to them. They always had been a strange companion.
'Because it'd be rude not to ask my friend what they want,' Person A said decisively. 'Now, come on, and help me pick out a drink.'

Imposition can be fun, but sometimes it messes with our headmates' sense of their own "bodies". Hail and Stormy are trying to play pat-a-cake, but they keep missing or mixing up their hands... It's understandable, though. Trying to visualize yourself outside of your physical body is bound to mess with your proprioception at first, especially if you haven't had much experience controlling your physical body like those two. Our poor brain must be rather confused, too, considering we're not very used to the practice yet. They'll keep trying, though!

Essentially, if you're on the right of the body, you need to make your mindvoice sound just a bit louder on the right side of the head. Maybe to people who always had headmates, this will come naturally. But to us, it's a skill that takes a lot of effort.
We hadn't really ever thought to intentionally try this, but you're right that it came naturally! I tried thinking from the right of the body and then moved around to the left and Nyroka (fronting at the time, she says Hi) felt/heard it as if I was floating around her/the body's head.
These little variations in skill between system types are friggin fascinating!
-Foxy
Hi, Nyroka! 👋😁
It's cool, isn't it!?
I want to throw out something else that's really fun to experiment with! Playing with the body's ear! If you practice imposition, try feeling around the ear, focusing on generating the associated feelings and sounds. We find this sort of auditory imposition way more natural than trying to hear a voice.
I don't know if it will work for everyone, but it might at least be fun to experiment with!

Imposition: The process of arranging type on the printing press so that that they appear on the paper in the right sequence after folding. Bibliographic format is dependent on proper imposition to work properly. Sometimes, printers would also print formats smaller than folio by a process called “half-sheet imposition” where the printed sheet would be cut in half to result in two smaller gatherings. A quarto by half-sheet imposition, for instance, would have one sheet of paper produce two smaller sheets, each of which can be folded in half to produce a gathering of two leaves.

Not too long ago I updated the “Wacky” portion of the Bookbinder JS impositions- removing some and adding some and adding a couple bonus features. I remain grateful that @momijizukamori continues to let me graft my mad wee impositions onto their page-- feels like I’m selling knock off Rolexes from a trench coat on the steps of a classy boutique.
https://momijizukamori.github.io/bookbinder-js/
A while ago @nafeathers passed me their typesetting for Kurt Vonnegut’s The Manned Missiles, which I used for my sampler set testing out the options because I trust other folk’s design choices (aspect ratios) far more than my own. The texts are trimmed to “max width” of physical page even though the typesetting remained scaled proportionally-- in some options, the height is the limiting factor, others width. [All pages printed on US Letter paper]
Of course I remain obsessed/in love with my “Mini” layout but am newly fond of the “Small” one and recently bound a ~40k text using it with much satisfaction (and legibility).
The green cutting mat pictures show pre-trimmed & trimmed texts & relative text sizes. The numbers indicate how many pages fit on a single side of a printed page. In my opinion, the best layouts are the “Small”, “Tiny”, and “Mini” ones since they’re “duplex on the short side” fold-up zig-zags and I’ve a strong (but totally unfounded) belief that I get less printer skew that way.

Soul: Y'know what, fucking catscratch my last post, this is much more substantial
I can see my hornnns. They curve upwards and front, like bull horns, I can see it from the front corner of my eye. It's fun to have two long battering arms right in the front of your head, I wish I had the ability to use them without hurting myself.
In fact, I can see the rest of my body pretty clearly. I was changing my clothes and I could see my frame perfectly- I'm kinda lanky, but all amalagous kinda are. I'm surprisingly more muscular than I thought I would be, my human form isn't so strong so I thought I would be weaker, but I still retain my "normal" muscle mass.
And I can see my mate. He's out of view now, but we were able to talk earlier and he could even pet my mane. We talk every day so it's not like we weren't together, I just missed seeing him lol

Taste Imposition Exercise: The Gum Trick
Do you find it weird that Tulpamancy/imposition guides tell you to literally taste your tulpa to train taste imposition? Do you want a better way to train that skill that you can do literally anywhere? Well, here’s a simple trick:
Imagine the juiciest, most flavorful, and tastiest gum you know in your mouth, and physically move your jaw like you’re chewing it. Feel the pressure of the gum when you bite down, and whenever you do, flavor should ooze out and taste stronger. To further add immersion, imagine the sounds of chewing. The more realistic you make it and the more senses you incorporate, the more likely you’ll actually start to taste the imposed gum in your mouth.
You can do this anywhere! The main caveat is that your jaw might get tired from chewing. But, you can imagine any flavor you want, whenever you want, and it won’t be conspicuous! I hope this helps people trying to learn imposition!

A preference for a blanket of mild tyranny over the chaotic discomforts of anarchy is a political mindset not limited to seventeenth-century England. The imposition of po-faced piety, however, is something else entirely.

Prompt #275
System A has recently begun trying imposition – the practice of "seeing" headmates take on a form outside the body, similar to the way an imaginary friend might be seen. It's been going well so far, but they can't help but notice that ever since they started practicing imposition, an acquaintance of theirs has been looking at them oddly...
What they don't know is that this acquaintance, Person B, can see ghosts and other spirits; whenever one of System A's headmates takes on their imposition form, Person B can see them, and has been mistaking these impositions for ghosts. Without alerting System A to their powers, they've been trying to figure out why System A has all these ghosts following them around everywhere... and if these ghosts are truly as benevolent as they seem.

can I ask what exactly impostion is? I don't think I've heard of it./gen
Sure thing! Imposition is the practice of visualizing your headmates in the external world, the same way someone might "see" an imaginary friend. You could think of it like imagining your headmate sitting or standing next to you, except they would have control over what their visualized self would do, not you and your imagination. I've heard some impositions can even include senses (i.e. a headmate seeing from their own eyes when imposing themself as opposed to their physical body's eyes), but we're just focusing on basic visualization for now, since trying that kinda overwhelms us. We also know there are other techniques that can be added to imposition, but we're not really knowledgeable on those.
Imposition is a common practice in the tulpamancy community, although other parts of the plural community haven't picked it up as much; if you're interested, we recommend you check out this forum site. We've decided to try practicing it to help our communication and integrate some (as in, lowering the amnesiac and dissociative barriers between headmates, not fusing together), and also just because it's fun!
Hope this answers your question, anon!
